Can somebody please have a look at my preferences and tell me why replays won't work anymore? Finally got a team to follow the tactics I talked about in the Shards thread and wanted to show off with the roflstomping only to discover my cunning plan had been thwarted by technological betrayal. It's rather vexing... Nah, jk, who cares, but I'd still like to know what is going on and am obviously too stupid to figure it out. TIA. preferences.xml

Replays not working, need a hint

Thx guys, but neither aslain's nor the thingy from WG will work for me. I run the game on Linux and both just open additional cans of worms, need to fix this by hand. -

Yup, that's in there. Not right at the end, about a dozen of lines below that. I know how to enable replays, that's not the issue and not too hard. It worked before. So well, that it was becoming a problem... I mean, who needs thousands of replays? As I recall now I deleted them during some sort of computer cleaning up spree... Maybe that's where the problem is, doesn't seem to have saved any after that. Just for the life of me I can't work out why. It should just create a new replays folder, shouldn't it? Well, it doesn't, nor is the game happy to use a folder I create. Wtf? -

Come to think of it, yes, you're right. Only realized later on, on the post battle screen, that you were in that match. After some matches I get second degree tunnel vision sometimes, when names just become one big blur of letters.Fiji is lovely, can't make up my mind if I like her or the Belfast more. People say Belfast is OP, but compared to her techtree counterpart not really all that much. I'm beginning to see why WG decided to hide the mid to high tier goodness behind the endurance test that is the Emerald. So glad I persevered, nice to see you're enjoying them just as much. They seem to suit you well. -

Just met _Kyoshi in the Fiji. He mentioned in chat it was his first match in her, which makes him topping the sheet in a tier 9 match even more impressive. I was in the Leningrad and ended up second. I think it's safe to say the forum carried that match. _Kyoshi with 4 kills, me with a lot of flanking action that destroyed the enemy formation. Destroyers are called just that, because they do destroy whatever battle order the enemy came up with. Well, my take on it, my way of playing them anyway. Err, sorry, couldn't resist the opportunity to get that in finally. Whatever, limelight belongs to _Kyoshi here, wp sir. After the night I've been having - with lots and lots of lagspikes the defining feature - that match was bliss. -
On some ships it's actually feasible to fire half salvos in each direction when you hit the right rhythm. Slow turrets required and a bit of positioning, but it can be done. Not short range of course, but mid range is certainly doable. Turrets need to be slow enough to not travel much in the time you need to aim. I recall a double double strike in the Fuso from that. The amount of hackusations from that match was hilarious. (Yes, even I hit the occasional high point... obviously means game's too easy)

Sluts give their services for free, what you're sinking of are more economically sensible women like hookers and wives, who insist on some sort of currency being handed over usually. Edit: You know you're playing way too much WOWS still, when you think thinking and type sinking. -
Usually I get tk'ed because I called one of my lovely compatriots for what too many still are: a disgusting Nazi scumbag. I'm sure you've encountered some of it, somebody calling other player Yews or Pollacks or whatever and definitely not with the intention of expression his admiration for vibrant cultures other than his. Since my English isn't that bad apparently I pass for British, so I got some comments along the lines of "eff off already, island monkey" and so on together with incoming torps and shells. On the other hand, still being German and having no detectable sense of humor and all that, I kinda know what it's like to be by general assumption the bad egg in an international setting. And not exactly rarely with the English among the worst offenders, so... I dunno, bit confusing maybe, but all in all... isn't history hilarious once you really think about it? I mean having a good laugh is really all you can do about it. The alternative is to let it get to you and I can't see how that's supposed to do anybody any good, right? See? There you go, now calm down.

Yupp, part of your support just had a massive hard-on for me it seemed. The Grafs were accompanied by a Leander who actually sailed away from B, all the way through C to keep me spotted for them. From what I've seen he basically abandoned you there to pepper an angled Belfast he couldn't really make any dent in. So from my perspective: got a Cap I shouldn't have, drawn a lot of ships on a wild goose chase, won. From a grave initial misjudgement. Neither me, nor the Gremy should have gotten out of B alive. So let me but it like this: didn't look like you were blessed with you team. -
1 volley AP - Pure death for Cruisers ? (tier X)
tenacious_torps replied to hitem13's topic in General Discussion
Bit unkind, but probably true. OP, I'd suggest you have a good look at your build. Do you run that how many people are aiming at me thingy? You absolutely should in a cruiser, helps a lot. You see the number go up, you start wiggling your backside immediately. -

Yesterday I met Yamineko on the enemy team in a Nagato while I was testing a build for Myoko in ranked (test failed, btw), who sneakily distracted me by engaging me in chat about the thread on Shard tactics. Always my downfall, never can keep my piehole shut. The match before I met xxxNihilancexxx or however that is spelled (dude, I meet you all the time, but sorry, I'm too old to get such things into my thick skull) in a Mahan in my Fiji on Neighbors. Or so I thought while sailing full speed ahead into cap, following a Gremy on my team right into the open jaws of the majority of the enemy team. Tactical beaching, smoke up, press 3, unload torps, harvest... Wait, what's this, where are my torps? Oh crap, I miss-clicked and didn't notice I actually picked the Belfast instead... But the HMS Yes_she_is_op_but_please_don't_nerf_she's_so_much_fun prevailed and after some advanced escapology the two of us ended up topping the sheet on the winning side. The one I can't spell couldn't turn the tide for his team, saw him only once or twice valiantly trying to wrest B from us, while I had some very angry (because of burning like bonfires) Graf Spees chasing me right back into our spawn. I was quite happy with that, we might have lost had they done something actually useful like supporting their DDs. -
We can only hope.

How can we prevent this from happening almost every game?
tenacious_torps replied to RenamedUser_92906789's topic in General Discussion
Have you reached a conclusion yet? Because the teams I've been getting today I can't even call potatoes. That would be a grave injustice to all vegetables not starting to rot right in the ground they're rooted in. At least there are always some bits sticking out from the soil, the derps I keep getting have their head so far in a dark place I'm not sure they'd even find it themselves if asked to present their friggin braincase. -
This. That's why tier 7 is an obviously poor choice for ranked and because it's obvious we have ample reason to assume other motivations than the best possible experience for players. Like good old corporate greed.

The credibility of your statement somewhat suffers from the signature below it, that announces a 73% 1d winrate to the world. Just saying... You're still right though, there is a discrepancy between BBs influence on a battle and the average skill level of their captains. It became even more noticeable to me, when I recently switched to BBs myself, because radio significantly reduces the fun I have with DDs, so quite often I don't bother anymore. I should be noticeably worse than folks who have thousands of BB battles, shouldn't I? Instead I seem to be doing actually better than in DDs winrate-wise. Now, I'm maybe a bit too much on the overly aggressive side in DDs, but still... nah, something's seriously wrong, when it's not unusual for me to be among the top three on my team in tier 10 matches in my Amagi. Because frankly, I think I seriously suck when it comes to BBs. I should be bottom, when uptiered by two tiers, I really should. I rarely am though. Quite hard to avoid the conclusion here, that on average too many players suck even harder. Which does not please me in any way whatsoever. How am I supposed to get actually good, when mistakes are rarely punished and results are still quite alright? Nah, not really fun neither. -
Get your wallets ready - the next Ranked season will be T7 again

Doubt she'll be viable. Tier by tier I'd not consider her a strong point of the line anyway, Bud and Chappy are stronger on their respective tiers imho. -

Yup, indeed. WG actually listening to the community after the missions crapstorm teaches an easy enough lesson. Sufficient number of people threaten to close their wallets, stuff starts to happen. As far as I am concerned: the little bit of good will they earned for that they already spent on the friggin radio. Tier 7 for ranked - again: radar only on premium ships, so ptw in ranked - gets them back on the embargo list. Not that it matters that much, playing time since last patch is at a quarter of what it used to be anyway. -

Dude, I can hardly look at a ship anymore without thinking about which would be her most vulnerable spots. -
Definitely pushing for A then, for the same reason I consider it unlikely the enemy may have taken it in the first place: they already took damage going in, met additional resistance in cap, so that's wounded prey. Details depend on the actual battle in question, but I think it's safe to assume that whatever force is left in A can't be that overwhelming. General principle therefore: Go in with one additional ship, since the position at B is very defensible, so you should be able to afford that. The actual route to A and what particular ships to send would again depend on what opposition we know awaits there, but principally speaking we should be able to box in the enemy and flank with some units, maybe even double flank if we have a fast Russian DD for example. C isn't worth the bother, we're absolutely happy with the enemy digging in there. We're equally happy with an enemy push for B, since we know we can easily make them pay heavily. Assuming the enemy doesn't push, but sensibly decides to defend his cap advantage, the main problem is how to attack A without getting under fire from C. We got viable routes though. The second problem is, that every single point of entry is easily closed down by a single DD. The third problem is, that ships coming in from the north, where they'll have the easiest time avoiding torps, will show broadside at least for a moment and especially to ships positioned in the northeastern corner of cap A. To avoid all of that we need to push in via all available routes, starting with the southern one, for maximum distraction. That will allow a second ship to push in towards the little island near the cap, with another one further back to fire at anybody who might want to charge there down the channel. Only then should ships push in around the northern corner. Please note how their route flattens out to keep them angled against support fire from C for the short window of opportunity we inevitably present there. Ships charging after them from C can be easily dealt with from our established position at B though, we really only have to worry about long range BB fire in all likelihood. Which all in all leaves us with a multi-pronged attack on A that has some positional synergies and should work. Minimizing casualties will require exact timing though, ideally we'll want to keep the defenders busy assessing the situation anew three times, so forcing turns and target changes.

Radar only at premium ships at tier 7. That alone makes this another money-grabbing exercise and yet another boycott the only option. -

To ensure maximum effectiveness of the approach I'd suggest to hire a body paint artist, then let Dasha present the maps. Desperate times, desperate measures. If that doesn't get people's attention it's probably time to start looking for another game. -
Some might. Every little bit helps.
-
Sure, but at least some indication of team composition and spawn was already given with the initial map. Good enough to go on with. Of course, adjustments will be needed, if the DD spawning near A is any Russian other than the Leningrad for example, but let's take it one step at a time. Btw, I still stand by my suggestion that a mandatory planning stage should be introduced.

Well... screw that, going to pass on another season then. Won't even bother with Flints around, that's an uneven playing field if ever there was one. -

Yup, know that one too.
