I see you conveniently skipped over the 30 plane kills to berate my team play, without seeing the game in question and without anything to base your judgement on. I mentioned the kills and plane kills because it was simple and quick, and discussing the game in any further detail was beside the point. I do understand team play, I spot destroyers for my team to kill, I try to use my planes where they are most effective, and I protect my team as best I can. In this particular game, I strafed and destroyed three torpedo bomber squadrons at once when they were attacking a friendly battleship, to name one instance. The same battleship belonged to the clan that sent the reports on me. No good deed goes unpunished. I talked to some of the players after the battle. They were, without question, the most offensive idiots I have ever met in this game, and I don't want to see that record broken. My complaint stands. Reports are being widely abused, and WarGaming is neither saying or doing anything about it.

It has been nearly two months since I asked this question. No answer has been forthcoming. In fact, most questions on this forum are being ignored. What is the point of a questions & answers forum without answers? I recently had a game in the Essex. Two kills, thirty plane kills, but the game ends in loss. So what do I get? Six reports from my own team, from a double division of five players who only managed two kills between them. This cannot possibly be what reports and karma were meant for. How long will you allow this abuse to continue? How long?

I've had some issues using torpedoes today. Often when I tried to launch them nothing happened, requiring me to click several times and resulting in missed opportunities. Fortunately I was playing mostly in the Leander, so I did not need to rely on torpedoes that often. Then I tried the Shinonome, and that was worse. Oh boy, it got so much worse. The first time I tried to use torpedoes, I once again could not get them to launch. I switched to guns and back, still no go. In frustration I clicked repeatedly, finally getting them away, and shortly after I'd sunk an enemy battleship. So far so good, right? Except that only two of my torpedo salvos had gone toward the battleship as aimed. The third had gone in a random direction. Some time later I attempted to torpedo an enemy battleship trying to take our cap. I was detected doing it and my target changed course, so I probably would not have hit anything anyway, but I would still prefer if my torpedoes had not been launched backwards. A friendly battleship behind me narrowly avoided being hit, while I was turning the camera around, wondering where the hell my torpedoes had disappeared to. I found them eventually, hitting an island that had never done me anything wrong. I tried to torpedo an enemy battleship a couple more times after that, only to see more torpedoes sailing behind me and abusing an innocent island some more. I even tried to launch one set of torpedoes deliberately in the opposite direction, and of course that one time they did launch exactly where I aimed them. I did see a couple other strange incidents involving torpedoes today, so I was wondering, has anyone else had anything like this happen? 20171222_032322_PJSD706-Shinonome_22_tierra_del_fuego.wowsreplay

Has anyone encountered any bugs in the missions so far? I can't get the very first task to work. In one game, I spotted not one but two Bismarcks in the Leander, I was the only one with line of sight so I know I was the one spotting them, and of course I did not get the mission completed. How long am I going to have to keep doing stupid things in the Leander to get this task over with? EDIT: Not very long, it turns out... four games later I managed to spot a Scharnhorst by peeking behind the big island in the middle of Estuary. And oddly enough, despite the many reckless things I did today in the Leander, I've had the devil's luck and both won and survived most games. Still, this mission was a pain, not least because it encourages reckless behavior.

Very generous of everyone, I'm in. 1. Enterprise (I bet I'd enjoy Saipan more, but... it is THE Enterprise) 2. Mutsu (she is beautiful) 3. Doubloons 4. Mutsu (again) 7. Doubloons 8. I have the Tachibana, so should I win one, feel free to give it to someone else.

I think you're right. Today I saw someone get this achievement in Killer Whale. After watching the replay, I noticed he gained the achievement on his fourth kill. He had burned an enemy Karlsruhe, torpedoed a Cimarron, flooded another Cimarron, and the kill that awarded him the achievement was another Cimarron with guns. This would be consistent with the fact that carriers seem to get this more easily. Carriers have four different means to get kills - torpedo, bomb, flood and fire - and carriers can typically control which of these means they use for the killing blow. Some other ships may not even have four different means, at least not as easy ones.

I've had this happen three times. I have never actually gotten to fill out any survey, which is a pity, because I do have some improvements to suggest and nowhere to do it.

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?

Ran into @Commander_Cornflakes in Myoko on the opposite team, ended up sinking him in my Bayern. -
What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

This. And for once, this kind of result made my karma go up, rather than down. -
Hell no. I'd rather see their number reduced, preferably to 0.

Why giving the Midway T8 planes is seriously bad idea
Rosletyne replied to Horin728's topic in General Discussion
Is it really? I would argue that the point of defensive fire is to defend, and while shooting down enemy planes until they stop coming is certainly one way of doing it, it is neither the only one or necessarily the best. For an example of this, you may want to look up the air defense of Helsinki in WWII, which is a remarkable success story. The attacking Soviets had a massive material superiority over the Finnish defenders, and shooting down the attackers in meaningful numbers was impossible. Instead the defenders prioritized keeping the bombers away from their target over scoring kills. Consequently the Soviets lost only few planes, but the panicked pilots would often drop their bombs early. About 95% of the bombs did not even fall within the city limits, and the city was spared. According to a popular legend, when the Soviets discovered the extent of their failure after the war, the general responsible for the bombing campaign was executed, though this is apparently not true. In this game, the way defensive fire works is frankly absurd. Somehow it both causes more damage and causes enemy planes to panic, with no downsides. Hell, since you can still use your dual purpose guns to shoot at enemy ships while under air attack, your guns are in fact performing three mutually exclusive functions simultaneously. I think the problem with CVs is that their striking power is simply excessive, and attempting to balance them by making AA fire excessive is just wrong. All ships in this game enjoy a much higher accuracy than their historical counterparts, but while other ships still get bounces and overpens, carriers don't have such a balancing factor. I think that a better way of balancing carriers would be to reduce AA effectiveness so that planes can fly anywhere without dropping like flies, but the denser the AA fire they face, the worse their accuracy becomes. It might actually lower the skill ceiling too. -

With comments like that, I predict this thread will soon be closed for being unconstructive. No one cares what you are here for. This game is about warships, and that includes carriers. If you can't deal with that, perhaps you should find another game. -
Of course you can abuse it. That is a major reason why it serves no positive purpose. And I'm not most players. I care because it is wrong, plain and simple. The karma system is the one thing about this game I hate more than anything else.

stop punishing good players with your stupid system
Rosletyne replied to IamTroublemaker's topic in General Discussion
False positives. Way too many reports come from raging arseholes, and too few of them have any merit. I find the current system so bad we would be better off without it. -

I have never been chatbanned, however I hate undeserved reports on principle. I don't think enemy players should be allowed to report you at all, unless it is reduced to a mere placebo for stress relief with no consequences of any kind. I posted a question about karma in the Q&A section. Maybe with enough attention we could get someone from Wargaming to actually answer. -
Some time ago I unlocked my tier 9 destroyers and cruisers, and since then my karma has taken a sharp dive. It does not seem to matter whether I live or die, either way someone gets mad at me, usually on my own team. Here is one replay of a game I had today, which earned me two reports. One of them was from a Friedrich der Grosse who decided to push into a superior enemy force and show his broadside, and who had a meltdown and blamed his team for lack of support when he predictably died. The other was from a Conqueror, whose division including a Des Moines and Midway failed to score a single kill between them, and who got killed by the enemy carrier despite his friend using the air superiority loadout. Needless to say, I outscored the lot of them. What I'd like to know is what should I have done? This is the second time I've been reported for being a full HP noob, despite doing what I believe a cruiser should - avoiding getting hit and dealing damage where I can. Yeah, there was that moment about halfway where I made a strange turn and got myself beached, which enabled the enemy Alabama to escape. That was admittedly a mistake, and I can't remember why I did it. I may have been distracted by the flames in chat. 20171108_161556_PASC017-Baltimore-1944_37_Ridge.wowsreplay

It was. I finished retraining in the next match. This was why I had no Priority Target in that match, and I'm missing the hull and gun upgrades too. I have full mods, though I'm considering replacing the fire rate module with range. 15.8km really is not much in something that fragile. I know I was lucky not to get shot at - although is it luck if you get reported for it? I often count on being undetected before anyone can turn their turrets at me, or my target being occupied with something else.

You can see in the video that a split second before the torpedoes were launched, the launcher was pointed in the direction the torpedoes actually went. It seems to me that the client and server were out of sync. There is definitely something very wrong about how the game handles synchronization, and it changed in the patch before Halloween. It is obvious every time I suffer a crash, which on Mac is often. In the past I could jump right back in a game and play mostly normally, now it is flat out impossible, because the client shows the game situation several seconds in the past. My own location, enemy locations, everything is completely out of sync. Don't know what the change was supposed to do, but WG botched it badly.

Our CV was in fact a newbie. He started the game asking questions about his abilities, and did not use them to their greatest potential. He was just new though, and managed to have a decent game regardless. So did everyone else in fact. I charged the Rasputin and its escorts in my DD, dumping two full torpedo loads into them. Another DD relentlessly chased the Gorgon through the filth, and while he could not kill it, the Gorgon emerged from the filth with a bare fraction of its health remaining thanks to him. And our BBs were the most valuable players, one of them topping the scoreboard with 13 kills. Only one DD was lost too, everyone else survived, doing damage until the end. And the most amazing thing of all? This was a random team. Two DDs were in a division, everyone else was a stranger to one another. Wonders never cease. https://replayswows.com/replay/download/7966

While I agree the Svyatozar is powerful, it is not essential. I completed the operation today with five stars, with a carrier, three battleships and three destroyers. Not one cruiser.

That is not an option. I cannot choose not to be annoyed by this abuse, particularly when the abuser can stay anonymous and face no consequences for being a worthless human being.

How do you people put up with all the bogus reports? I just received my fourth one today, in a game where I finished second on experience with three kills on a victory. Is this normal for high tiers? Is that where the whiners and assholes congregate to make everyone else miserable? It does not matter what I do, win or lose, live or die, either way some idiot takes offense to it.
-
I've been playing more high tier battles in the last few days, and in that time I've received reports more often than ever before. It has gotten so bad that I ask myself why should I even continue playing. The worst case, though it did not happen to me personally, was when someone started complaining about a division of two Montanas, just because they were alive at the end of a game and had one kill between them. However - while one of those players had had an average game, the other had scored High Caliber, Confederate, Dreadnought, and over 2K base experience on a defeat. He had not scored any kills himself, but had pretty much enabled every kill the rest of the team had achieved. Yeah, clearly someone who should be reported and told to uninstall the game. Have I just had a bad experience, or are the high tiers actually full of idiots and asshats who hand out reports left and right whenever they get angry, with no regard for whether the reports are justified in any way? What was the dumbest reason your own team ever reported you or another team member?

I mainly play destroyers, so I suffer detonations fairly often. I had two yesterday, and the most I've had in one day is three or four. Yet, I say detonations should stay in the game. They feature prominently in naval history, including both World Wars, and they definitely deserve to be included in a game based on naval history. That said, the mechanics of how they occur could possibly be improved. Someone here claimed detonations would be more common when near full health. Another source I read claimed the exact opposite - that the chance of detonation is only 1% while your HP is 70% or more, and that it increases to 10% the more damage you take, provided you hit the magazine first of course. Yeah, that kind of randomness can be frustrating, but no wise man ever said war was fair. Imagine what alternatives we could have for this? For instance, we could have a way of monitoring magazine temperature, with an option of flooding the magazine if the risk climbs too high. Of course, once flooded, the magazine no longer provides ammunition to any guns. By the way, the use of plural is significant, since many ship guns share the same magazine. I wonder what this mechanic would cause? Some players would probably consciously risk getting detonated rather than abandon the use of their guns. Others would panic too easily and spend many games unable to fire at anything. In the end, I doubt that much would change. People might complain less, since they would know that they could have avoided a detonation and chose not to, but the added complexity would add very little to the game.

Something has gone very, very wrong with this update. I had something similar happen to me twice today, both in games where the game crashed and I entered late. Imagine this. You enter the game several minutes late, having had to reboot your computer, and your controls simply refuse to work. You turn on your engines, start moving forward, so far so good. You attempt to turn left, but ship keeps moving forward. You attempt to turn right, and now the ship starts turning left. Short while later the ship stops turning left and starts to rotate right. And I mean rotate, not turn. The ship turns around its center axis while moving in a straight line, eventually moving sideways. You try to stop, the ship does not stop, although the speed indicator instantly drops to 0. You crash into an island and finally stop, and it takes half a minute to convince the ship to reverse away. Only once you are reversing, you soon find yourself drifting sideways again, only in reverse, until you crash into another island. And so on, until the game ends. If this continues, it might not even matter whether you return from a crash or not, because the game is completely unplayable. What you do and what you see are completely out of sync. I have a replay I'm sending to support, only it turns out the replay did not actually record what I saw while playing.
