WG response regarding recent (now expired) temporary repair cost reduction for high tiers?
IanH755 replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
First Game in my Moskva - 155k damage, 1 kill, 343k+ credits, 4th in my team with 1800xp - I was killed but had a good game so I'm thinking YES!!! TX is awesome!!!! 36k credits loss with a normal account* - WTF - repair cost is 266k credits! I've put the Moskva back in port. I won't use it again until something changes. Why lose credits when you've had a "good" match which was a win and you've done well. *77k credits up with premium.- 14 replies

The changes they made added more polygons to the ships 3D model to smooth the hit boxes and make them more "realistic". It shouldn't have any noticeable effect.
-
Because one of the main things they want testing is Cruisers too - IJN for Armour and others for Radar/Consumables (hydro sound etc) - yet by making a BB event the PT is 95% full of BB's with no-one doing any of the cruiser "testing". The worst thing is that most people already played IJN BB's on the PT to get to Yamato anyway so there was no need for a specific event, which has screwed up any Cruiser data WG wanted. Just another badly thought out, badly implemented & badly explained PT - The last 2 have been pretty poor when it comes to "trying" to do the actual "testing" WG want us to do.
-
I've pretty much stopped playing Random in anything T5+ (3-6 games per week instead of per night) and I'm just hitting co-op for another few weeks until the German BB-fest stops. Then the PT pops up and I figure "cool, lets test the new cruiser stuff like Radar cool/consumables etc" only to find a bloody IJN BB event so all the Live and all the PT games are just BB's everywhere. Congratulations WG - You've now created World of Battleships!
-
No they're not. Do you know if this was removed or never in at all and badly publicised?
-
I wondering how we're supposed to test the Radar/Consumables when everyone is playing BB's due to the ridiculous BB event WG decided to run during a PT and there is maybe 1-2 cruisers per match at best. You DO want us to test cruisers don't you??????????????????
-
I feel I was being too diplomatic before with my Eleventy Billion BB's everywhere post so I'll say it more bluntly. I've just tried to do ANY of the testing you want/need me to do as part of a Public Test - 3 matches as a single CA vs 10+ BB's in each match, died in minutes. How stupid do you have to be to deliberately block anyone but BB players from a PT where one of things you NEED to test is cruisers radar/consumables, [edited] Well Done WG - You finally created World of Battleships, you dumb (long list of swear words which would get me banned if I said them)!!!! PT Uninstalled, do your own playtesting in future!
-
Same here - We've just suffered through the release of the German BB line for the past 2 weeks with nothing but BB's and now, on the PT, it's the bloody same with IJN BB's. I understand that IJN BB's need testing (presumably after an armour hit box tweak) but the servers are now flooded by BB's again. There was 8 per side in my last match with 2 CA's and 2 DD's and all 4 CA's got wiped out quickly (sub 5 minutes) . So tell me, why as a mainly cruiser player should I bother with this PT as I'll not be able to enjoy any games against 8+ BB's. Oh and your MM seems to be badly borked compared to the live server - 8+ BB's, WTF!

Same for me - A client restart solved my choppy Torps and stuttering ships.

EDIT - Just seen that a video should play but doesn't. 1. DescriptionWhen the new "Ship Modules" Play symbol next to the "Go To Tech Tree" text in the top left corner is pressed when already in Module View the screen shows a loading screen yet nothing happens (see pic) when a video should play. 2. Reproduction steps On any Ship go to the Module Screen and click the "Play" style button in the top left. 3. Result Loading screen shown, nothing else. 4. Expected result Video should play. 5. Technical details "Play Button" - "Loading" Screen -

***SOLVED BY A GAME RESTART*** 1. DescriptionAll Ships 3D Models in Port appear to stutter (choppy movement) yet waves, flags, UI & clouds etc are fine. Only happened after my 1st game (Co-Op), before that it was fine as I checking the Armour viewer for about 10 mins with no issues. The ship alone appears to be running around 3-4 FPS at most yet the rest of the screen is fine. 2. Reproduction steps View any ship in port after 1 battle - I'll do a shut-down & reboot and see if it still occurs and update this post. 3. Result Stuttering ship animation when in port. 4. Expected result Should be smooth 5. Technical details NONE.

"Thinking" is apparently too hard for most players according to the statement by WG regarding Shatter & Land of Fire. I also don't like that virtually all maps can now be split into 2 boring zones - Each team has around 1/3 or the map to spawn which is fairly free of terrain/islands and the the middle 1/3 is a massive cluster of crap islands going left to right across the Cap zones. Even Trap etc are just the same only tilted 45' from corner to corner but still have the same setup. When I first started watching Phly/Baron/Jingles etc the maps were packed with cool stuff and very few looked similar. Now it just gets boring to see yet another generic WG map-fest.

This very probably won't effect anyone on here because you've actually gone to the effort of looking at the forum, being helpful etc but I can't understand the thinking process of some of my "team mates" who do everything possible to avoid winning whilst still playing the game (rather than AFK etc). It almost seems like a pathological aversion to winning, like they actually can't stand to be on a winning team. I don't understand it, really I don't. Things I've seen in the past 5 matches - If you're a IJN DD trying to Cap, as a CA they run away when you spot a single enemy Soviet DD. If you're a CA supporting them as they Cap in a DD, they run out of the cap with no one near them. If you're a BB pushing to support and tanking damage so they can Cap in their DD without being shot, they run away. If they're a DD and they surprise a CA at point blank range, they don't torp first but shoot guns, alerting the CA who torps them before easily avoiding the telegraphed late Torp Launch. If the whole enemy team is approaching a Cap and our team all stay back, they run in and die in seconds. They go up the Middle on Two Brother despite it being a CV match and they die quickly. If the enemy has two Caps but 4 less ships with both scores at 800+ they don't try and take a Cap but instead try to Win By Kill, when the 3 remaining enemy ships are a CV and 2 DD's. This weekend has been fun but extremely frustrating at times Whats the worst "Snatching Defeat from the jaws of Victory" you seen so far?

Why don't some people want to win? - Serious question!

To answer your questions/comments in the post above - 1. The Cruiser should fight the DD, it would have won and my IJN DD was keeping the enemy DD spotted to make it easier. They didn't even fire 1 salvo, they turned away while the enemy DD shot at them while my IJN DD (which can't win a gun fight) torped and dodged to stay alive - game end in a loss. 2. It was on the corner of an island where both spotted each other at the WG 2km "insta-spot" range through the island yet the DD decided to attack with guns as he rounded the island before trying to torp while the CA torped the corner of the island instead and lived - can't remember how that ended. 3. CV had almost no planes left (that I saw), we had a mix of all 4 types still in the game. All that was needed was a single cap and with 4 more ships than the enemy (who is in retreat) you can get 3-5 in a single cap together to take it very quickly whilst also provided AA cover from the CA's - we lost that so hard it made me rage quit for the rest of the day! I can't explain the thinking behind some of the decisions, I've made some truly epic mistakes but I very rarely repeat them. My worst has to be when I see a flank starting to fall and I charge in to shore it back up but end up dying with the rest leaving the other flank 1 extra ship less but it's something I recognise and try to avoid now. Sometimes, when a team is obviously doomed, it's best just to think about your own repair bills and stay with the group hoping that you get missed as people target the others around you. You lose but you stayed alive (repair costs again) which is crappy but seems to be a valid tactic. -
Highest Spotting or Potential Damage figures so far?

They are on the Post Battle screen under Detailed Info and then in the middle. -

I've had the "weekend Noob" rage but, like most people point out, it's some good and some bad like most days! My personal favourite has been, after dying, using the free cam to watch some amazing team work as a Fuso T-Boned a Nagato and pushed him around for about 3 minutes using him as a shield while the Nagato raged in chat -

It was just a thread for people to share funny win/loss stories involving people who seem incapable of winning -
Hmmm, I'm also finding it extremely difficult to burn German BB's. For example - Molotov with 16% fire chance (inc DE) hit's the superstructure 95 times yet only gets 2 fires (both in 1 salvo) which were quickly put out. I spent the whole game pouring HE into a Bayern, 2 Konigs and 2 Scharnhorst and got 810hp fire damage (Scharns feel much more fire resistant than the others!). Now the Molotov with DE is a massive fire starter on everything and I'm normally into double figures for fires in 75%+ of my games. With nearly 200 games played in the Molotov I know when something feels wrong and, for what ever reasons, over the 40+ random/co-op games I've played against German BB's (in various ships) I just find them *much* more difficult to burn than anything else. Everything else I hit CA/DD/CV & other nation BB's all burn at least once within 2-3 salvoes.
-
Because I am a massive MASSIVE [edited] I tend to look towards the enemy (zoomed in/out) regardless of the angle of my ship and it's usually when I'm running away and looking back over my shoulder that my "island/ship interface" issues occur.
-
That thing is is like letting your captain hit the Rum too hard before sailing, it actively steers for islands more than I do

Scharnhorst has changed the game (get ready to park those cruisers boys)
IanH755 replied to venderbomb's topic in General Discussion
M=y experience of the new shineyhorse has been that it really does live up to the "Cruiser Killer" hype, that things a beast. Not enough to make me put my CA's away but when there's 3 Sharn's in a match it's incredibly difficult! -
1st ever WOWs bug for me - 1. DescriptionGUI flickering for 3 seconds at around 6 minutes into a Co-Op battle in the Derpski followed by Crash to Desktop with warning notice shown below 2. Reproduction steps N/A 3. Result CTD with WOW's shutdown 4. Expected result N/A 5. Technical details I have also noticed the GUI icons appear very briefly in the top left corner (only for for a split second) when going through the various post battle screens. This has no effect on the game or post battle screens.

1300+ games played and I've only been pink once and deservedly so but if I'm in a twisting turning knife fight with an enemy DD, I don't have time to carefully scan the horizon for any ships within a million light years, I'm busy fighting for my virtual life, so it's unbelievably annoying when, 7km's and 45seconds after 1 of the torpedoes has missed the DD (other 3 sunk him), you get a random Pink Pop-Up and TK status for 5 matches. Please WG, removing the friendly fire mechanic cures 100% of TK'ing, removes the requirement for the "pink" system (with all the extra code that requires) and just makes everyone's life so much better. Thanks. Ian (who isn't salty at all right now!)

WG - Turn off "Friendly" fire please, pretty please!

No, just someone who is polite, cultured and well mannered. Or in other words, some one obviously unlike yourself but thank you concentrating all your effort in that solitary brain cell floating around in your planetoid sized head for long enough to grunt and dribble a few words onto the internet anyway, have a pat on the head for being such a good boy.
