On 95% of my ships, No, I stick with narrow. However on the Derzki (10 torps every 20 sec) and Okhotnik (12 every 40 sec) I use them to flood areas with torps when fighting DD's if I'm not 100% sure which way they'll turn and it usually works!

[TOOL] A program to collect and analyze personal farm of exp and credits

Hi Maxim, Thanks for the reply. It is "Unknown 24" which should be Vive La France crates bought from the shop. -
Ok WG explain to me how radar pick up targets behind an island ?

This! It's a limitation with the Big World engine, not something WG have specifically programmed. So until WOWS 1.0 comes out with a game engine change, we're stuck with it. -

Hi Maxim, I have a quick question about the detailed panel along the bottom of the screen. When you click the WG logo it adds two extra bits of detailed info to the 4 lines highlighted in screenshot, could you explain what that extra info is please? Also, I have 2 bug reports for the latest version updated today. 1. When you click the players Tab and again select the WG button to get more info about the players in the match, if you click the link provided to see that player on WG's own site the link always goes to a 404 page as the link is missing the players name after there unique account number so, for example, my link in mxstats ends as "accounts/536286779-" which is a 404 page as my actual page is "accounts/536286779-IanH755/" so the player name needs adding to the link for it to work. 2. If you buy the French Crates from the Shop they appear as "Unknown" in the filter section of the Containers Tab (despite showing a French flag icon) where as crates earned via playing the game show up correctly as Vive La France. Thanks for the help, it's a fantastic program and it's been really useful to me! -
Raptor Rescue (22 - 29 March) - Lets hear your stories of Epic Wins and Stupid Losses!

Well maybe I should have taken my Cleveland and Buddy out earlier Getting just as many citadels, and just a good scores with both, although the HE only firing Queen Elizabeth tried as hard as possible to lose the Buddy game for us until the Leander stepped up to save the Raptor from being torped by the 6km away Aoba which the QE2 was busy ignoring while he missed HE volley after HE volley at the 11km away Kongo. How on earth do people get to T6 and STILL not know the difference between HE and AP. WG have got a huge amount to do with improving the knowledge base of it's players! Results in the Spoiler - Molotov - 3 kiils, 1650+ Base XP & 10K Ship XP etc - and EVERYONE survived which is a 1st for me, although the whole team played well, even the bottom guy. Cleveland - 5 Kills, 1600+ Base XP & 11k Ship XP etc Buddy - 8 kills, 2000+ Base XP etc & my highest ship XP yet at 14K ship XP etc -
Got 2 super containers within a few days (YES!!!) opened the first - 14 days premium (looks at my 400+day premium account) - Ah..................Oh well lets open the 2nd container - 7 more days Premium - AH F*********!!!!!!!!!!! It might be an idea to split SC's into a few branches like "Ship SC" and "Other SC" or similar because the "WOW!!! a SC" enjoyment is being massively knocked out of them for me when stuff like that happens, or you get a Spotter Module etc. Sc's should be, by their very name something Super, like a ship etc rather than Meh things like 100 flags or a Meh Module.
-
IIRC the 900 odd games were only split by tier and not ship class so he may be been heavily down tiered in say T5 Cruisers but not so much in T5 BB's - sadly the search function on here is a bit rubbish and I can't find the image on reddit yet.

Raptor Rescue (22 - 29 March) - Lets hear your stories of Epic Wins and Stupid Losses!

Just had an absolutely epic game with a team of 3-4 "good" players where people played their "roles" perfectly and we'd killed all the bots before the Raptor even left it's 2nd Stop point. I think I played really well this game and by the end I was doing 6-11k damage salvos against the two broadside BB's (did over 43k just to the Kongo in AP only) and I came away with 2165 base XP, 210k+ damage with 22 citadels and 6 kills with a whopping 13k ship XP earned, 9.6k+ Free XP, 38k Captain XP without the daily XP bonus and 472k credits (Screenshot in Spoiler). I've still got my Cleveland/Buddy/De Grasse to take out and play for their 50% daily XP bonus but the Molotov is just so OP at this particular scenario (T9 guns) that I'm having too much fun! -
I'll try and find that post I mentioned. He took the data from MxStats of his own games and made it into a bar chart. I mean he could be lying and making it all up TBH but it kind of matches the general feeling that T7 is a good tier to be in, especially as, like you mentioned, it seems to rate BB tiers more importantly than other ship types.
-
Regarding being bottom tier so much - Someone either here or on Reddit posted a chart of over 900 T5-10 games showing that T5-6 and T8 are the most common tiers to be "bottom" tier of a game. IIRC T5 spent over 50% of their matches in T7 games, T6 was around 40% in T8 matches and T8 was also around 40% in T10 matches. So if you want a higher chance of playing as the top tier then play T7 (where all the best Premium ships per tier are sold - wow what a shock) and T9-10.

Yeah multiple DD's in this mission are a waste (1 max is OK) as Cruisers DPM is King of this Scenario while a CV is extremely handy for spotting but the biggest "problem" I've encountered so far on the majority of the teams I've played with is that People don't seem to understand or know the "roles" of their ships. So you see full health BB's stuck to the engineers boat behind an island while the cruisers are out tanking damage and taking on 4 ships, or DD's who don't know how to scout or smoke up ships (to prevent the bots seeing the friendly convoy), cruisers who don't do AA or anti-DD duties etc. Which means that the few people on a team who KNOW what their role is are very heavily carrying the rest of the team and, with some ships, there's only so much carrying you can do. However when you get a team which has 3-4+ "good" players (not even super-unicum types) on it the Op is a simple 5 win without issue and they are quite enjoyable games. Here's two examples, in my first match today the "Citadel Machine" Molotov, with the help of 2 other "good players", was able to help the team to a 5 star win (the 4th place 2x XP camo Cleveland did nothing to earn his "average" XP other than plane kills which are too heavily rewarded - would have been under 700XP without them as he didn't shoot at a single DD). Yet in the second game, without wishing to sound boastful, I was clearly the only player on the team with a clue on how to play either my ship or the game in general - BB's went chasing CV's, DD's sat next to the Raptor and did nothing (not even smoked), Cruisers & BB's fired not stop HE at broadside cruisers at under 10km, a RN BB not firing until a target was about 10% health before firing a broadside to "get the kill" (1st time he shot so not stuck reloading) etc and without my efforts we'd have even lost the game rather than getting a low 2 star win (on the easiest scenario) as I torped the last BB on a Yolo rush as he headed to our unprotected Raptor with 1 friendly RN BB still hiding behind an island and the New Mexico hunting the CV in the bottom of the map (never killed it either). Yet despite the very obvious problems caused by people who clearly don't know how to play the game or want to get better at it ("It's just a game man, I play for fun") I really still like the Scenarios. PS More Results screens in the Spoiler - -

IIRC there's a 2 DD torp ambush in the middle of the map just after the Engineer ship becomes active and my 3rd game (mentioned in OP) in the Buddy was were I, as the only cruiser around (after 3 others went chasing the CV in the bottom right), had to fight the 2 DD's making them waste torps on me rather than the repair ships which in a long unmanoeuvrable ship like the buddy went as well as you can imagine! Considering the amount of times this, fairly easy scenario has been around, it's still amazing at the number of players who just don't know what to do! -
What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
IanH755 replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Some Co-Op fun - 1/2 the bot team went through the middle chasing a Human DD who brought them into the full broadside of an Atlanta at 3km - 2 full health broadside cruisers and 2 full health DD's later and it was all over except for a "kill secure" on a low health Nagato! -
In my Molotov I got citadeled TWICE at 13km+ by the forts at the start (Ian you massive moron vs Holy Poop those Forts are suddenly very accurate) so, with only 2k health for the rest of the match, I had to stay at long range and even used the spotter plane for 18km+ shots so didn't really achieve much (bit of a Meh game TBH) - Still came 2nd on the team with 1100-ish XP The rest of my 6 other team-mates all had under 900XP and we were carried by a Cleveland doing 1700XP. Just how stupid do players have to be to suck at a "simple" mission so much!

Premium Ships - Camo "layers" bug - Rust etc removed when camo added.
IanH755 posted a topic in General Discussion
Hi All, this is something I noticed after a Reddit comment about whether people like seeing the "Rust" look on ships and it looks like there's a bug in the way camouflages are applied to premium ships. If you add any Camo to a "silver ship" then the ship keeps it's "built-in" layer of rust visible on top of the camo i.e. the camo is layered below the rust - Yet with Premium ships, if you apply a different camo than the one which already comes with the ship, the camo layer is applied on top of the Rust layer, hiding it .e. the camo is layered above the rust, and this applies all the various camos I've tried (about 20 I've got) - Camo Off - Rust visible Camo On- Rust NOT visible Camo Off - Rust visible Camo On - Rust NOT visible I've tried this on the 19 premiums ships I have and it's the same on all so, while it's in no way game breaking it might still something that needs looking at. It would also be interesting to see if player want to keep the rusty look (I prefer it) to the clean Premium look. -
Premium Ships - Camo "layers" bug - Rust etc removed when camo added.
IanH755 replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
@MrConway - So it's a genuine "Not a bug, it's a feature" then! Thanks for clearing that up. As mentioned above, while I prefer the rust it's not game breaking in any way and now we know it's designed like that I don't see much need to change anything. -
Hi all, When playing the Killer Whale Scenario there has been several times when I've tried to use the F3 key to call attention to an enemy ship yet the mini-map and voice over have both highlighted a Fort instead (even a destroyed Fort). This has happened to me on different days and with different patches (0.7.2.1 and 0.7.2.2) so is this happening to anyone else, making this a WG bug, or is it just me? Cheers.......................................Ian

There's numerous threads on here and on Reddit all saying the same thing, that the Guns seem "different". I even started a thread on here a while ago about this, but the stock answer from WG is "the ship is unchanged" despite the large number of Missouri users coming forwards saying "well somethings changed". My personal take away is that the ships guns seem to get more "bad" RNG recently with very poor dispersion/sigma but thats not really a measurable symptom, however with so many talking about this I'd be surprised if nothing has changed since it's release.

If it doesn't give an advantage then why are people even using it and why are those same people defending their use of it? If it doesn't gives any advantage then what's peoples problem with it being removed? If it does give an advantage (no matter how small) then don't WG's own rules say it must be banned? TBH, the sooner the game is made Vanilla Only the better as it stops any form of cheating, which is surely what we want.

Neighbours is awful for seeing AP shells fired from (or fired at) the right side of the map. Also the FPS/LAG text is unreadable unless you look at some bright sky, as it's black text (with a slight white Halo) which merges with dark terrain/see making it far to hard to see (I get Lag issues so I'm always looking at it).

I wish the Supercontainers were a little more "smart" about the prize as I got 14 days premium (yay!!!) to add to the 400+ I've already got from the Xmas crates which kind of makes it a little "wasted". I liked the Xmas crates idea where the prize was decided by looking at your account and seeing what you didn't already have, to avoid giving duplicates, so it'd be nice to see something similar deployed to supercontainers, although I know it'll never happen.

Since 0.7.2.1 Ive found it more difficult to select ships for my secondaries and I have to click all around the ship "target" icon, the health bar and the name to eventually get it to select, yet it's fine selecting planes, which is odd.

Just had another loss down to people who are UTTERLY CLUELESS at the scenario - No idea that they have to cap and too busy with "No Cap Kill All" stupidity, completely ignoring the mini-map pings, the chat etc - My suggestion is that the first time you play any scenario there is a 30-60 second un-skippable animation or video to tell you what you need to do to win. Still won't help most of the mouth-breathers that I've played with but if just 1 of them can find a brain cell to use which helps us win a game, I'm all for it!
-
I must also being using "your devices" (according to Colonel Pete) as I'm also seeing 11,372 players right this second
-
WG - Another Co-Op suggestion - Originally only PvP got achievements but now, as PvE Scenarios have got their own "achievement" awards, would it be possible to create some Co-Op ones like Co-Op Kraken, Devastating Strike and Detonation etc? It would also be nice if these came with very small rewards like 1-3 signals, compared to the PvP modes 5-10 signals, so people can't farm them in "easy mode", however still think the achievements are a good idea even if there's no "rewards" added. Nope, in the 2 years I've been playing I've always seen them ram, especially the DD's and Cruisers when they sail past each other. The "Dodge/weave" behaviour is very noticeable in Scenarios, which makes DD's especially hard to hit (I like) but in normal Co-Op the behaviour is still fairly basic, although the Cruisers do now swap to AP more quickly now.
