So it looks like Co-Op/Scenarios will be getting CV's at some point in the future (0.8.1+) according to SO over on Reddit - Still not speccing ships for AA again but may redo some Captain Skills at the 0.8.2 free reset if it looks necessary or if I just have skill points left over. https://old.reddit.com/r/WorldOfWarships/comments/an3wq7/080psa_first_cv_rework_tweaks_and_changes/ Changes and improvements that we work on now in the timeframe of next updates (0.8.1 and beyond). Improve plane reserves UI (information should me better presented); Improve AA sector UI (better usability); Do additional balancing for individual ships, armament, skills and upgrades, as the statistical data is being accumulated; Clear the minimap for non-CV ships (remove the unnecessary info about returning planes, etc); Finish the development for CV bots (Cooperative Battles);

Thats my guess too. Why write a whole new AI program (costing a fair amount of time and money) just for Co-Op when they can just leave it as it is currently (no CV's) and have almost zero negative effect on the Co-Op playstyle. Either way, I'll not re-spec into AA again whilst I still play Co-Op or Operations.

Poll: Will you keep playing the game after v.8.0 goes live?
IanH755 replied to Jean_Bart's topic in General Discussion
I'll be giving it a few weeks break just to let game settle and get any urgent bugs squashed. This new patch feels, to me at least, to be more feared than looked forward to by so many so I think that any mistake by WG could have really bad influence on keeping "experienced" players in the game as every new change seems to chipping away at the "skill" aspect of the game in favour of "ease for new players" to try and keep them from quitting after 2-3 months. -
Cossack gets a torp reload buff - Why not Haida (Cossack-lite)?
IanH755 posted a topic in General Discussion
Hi all, When looking at the performance of both the Haida and Cossack they both seem to be "middle of the pack" amongst the DD's in their tier yet Cossack has received two buffs recently, one for gun turret speed and one for torpedo reload speed, to try and make it more "comfortable" to play (in WG's words). Now having only just got the Haida I was expecting it to be a Cossack-lite, yet found that it still has the "pre-buff" Cossack gun turret rotation and torps. While I can live with the gun turret speed being slower I find it very hard to understand why the Haida hasn't also received the Torpedo reload speed buff as it's current reload of 86 seconds for its 4 torps seems very poor compared to the buffed 60 second Cossack reload, nearly 50% extra time in a reload. I know WG like to say "gameplay balance" to lot of things but I always found it strange that the exact same torpedo (Mk IXM) on two different ships is given two completely different stats - Different range, reload speed and detectability - when, in this case, I see no justification as both ships are still middle of the pack compared to the other T7-8 DD's despite the decreased torpedo reload on the Cossack, which is why I think the Haida should also get this buff as it won't make the ship suddenly OP. Anyway, TL:DR, just got a Haida and want it's torps buffed please -
Unable to switch captains between ships - what happens next?

Parts of the servers are still a little bit broken and won't be fixed fully until Monday according to WG's post in the News section so I'd wait til tomorrow. -

{Operations] - My highest damage in a DD yet and a whole host of awards from this 5 star win! I picked the Jervis as I knew the single torps and short smoke are very strong in Ops but when I saw the 3x DD team I wasn't hopeful. I took out the Iron Duke with a bunch of single launches then headed for the civilian ships which died to single torps each with a few shots too and then into the middle where more single torps and short smokes made me a huge menace. The Akatsuki also gets a big mention as he played DD's as they should be and was rewarded for it along side the Nelson who also carried hard. And another hard carrying game in the Myoko, whose new DD dispersion makes it's AP almost OP against bots! -

[Operations] - I already put a bunch of really good games in my Narai thread but this was pretty special - 227K damage but only 1 kill! It seemed like every salvo left an enemy on around 1k health to be finished off by a cruiser and I only got my kill on the Schors right at the end! Special mention to the Fiji, great comms and he solo'ed the CV so deservedly came top! I really can't wait for the Jingles captain too for his "thats a paddlin" voice-over as the first Emerald you see had 3 BB's and 2 cruisers all fire at him within 1 second and he just "vanished" -

Well as the game voice-over says "Off to a GREAT start" for my first game of the day In this game after dealing with the Missouri the team split, I went left for the civilian ships and THE WHOLE TEAM went right for the CV leaving the transport ships to die in the middle. Thats the first time I've seen anything like that and it takes a very special kind of "map reading skill" obviously to see all your defenceless ships being attacked and deciding - Nah, they'll be fine, we all need to chase after this side quest instead! TBH what doesn't help, and has never really, is that the EU server has so many various languages spoken that it's difficult to get any sort of "plan" together, even when using Map Pings, so trying to fight as a team which can't communicate is always going to be very hard. PS I've only just noticed (I know I'm blind) that the repair ship is using the Gamescom 2016 Camo -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EDIT - I'll just put this here rather than add a new post - Tried the Abruzzi again, great AP but poor HE for me and a bad angle on the 3rd turret so you have to show too much broadside really. The Carry was SOOOO hard in this but we got a 4 star win. There was a great play by the Gadjah Mada who chased the CV down alone but he didn't really get rewarded whilst I was "lucky" enough to be at the right place at the right time for a good score including doing 53K damage to the Missouri! Plus I had a good Nelson game where the Atlanta played really well, solo'ing the CV and it's escorts while at 4k health! I think the Nelson and Scharnhorst are probably the best two BB's to use here. I like the Gneis but the lack of guns and dispersion hold it back for me. -
Hi all, Well a new week, a new Operation (one of the easiest I think) yet potatoes will still potato I like this operation, it's a simple "follow a path" but allows the team to split up for the side challenges or stick together to push to the end or a combination of both so there's lots of re-playability. I've played 3 games so far today and I'm averaging 200k+ damage and 4-5 kills after a 4 & 5 star win and a defeat. So far I've taken my Flint/Atlanta down the right side of the map (after the Lexington) and my Helena down the left side (after the civvy boats) before heading into the middle for the end rush in all 3 games and all three times I've found the Operation to be really enjoyable, fairly easy and it earns a nice amount of XP/Credits from the Premium Ships. Despite this I still see people who HAVE played the Operation before (no "first time medal") who have absolutely zero clue on how to play this Op or show any generic "skills" like angling, aiming, target selection etc and who end up with around 1/2 of my XP and, as this Operation encourages players to split to get the 2 side challenges, it means that carrying a team alone (or even a pair) is extremely difficult. So, complaints aside what Tips do you guys have for this Operation? I find that fast firing (<10 sec reload) HE spammers like the Helena/Schors (or Atlanta/Belfast/Boise etc for premium) really make the difference with 3-4 being a good number but I find CV's to be a bit lacking unless played by a super-unicum. If I spawn on the right side I go for the Lexington/DD/Phoenix combo or if on the left I go for the civvy ships which HE absolutely wrecks. As bots charge at you nose on I find AP to be less useful unless you're able to over-match as a BB and, as a cruiser, you really need to work on hitting DD's from 7-9km as they sprint at an angle. I find that Missouri is an easy kill TBH, just park behind the middle island and torp it as it swings past but I do think it's a massive shame to remove the planes from this Operation as that forced players to move to avoid torp bombers rather than sit in the repair circle.

My almost weekly "why can't people play this weeks Operation" thread - Also whats your Narai Tips?
IanH755 replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
Repeatedly Posting Same Content - My 1st Narai thread ever. Irrelevant Content - Talking about this weeks Operation and asking for tips. I think my reading is JUST FINE but yours, not so much. Tried the Abruzzi, wow thats a surprise Narai winning ship! Fast Guns, heal and in my last game 17 citadels so the AP is bloody good too! Also got a win in the Belfast after 2 loses in it, glad I waited -

OK, lets review these forum rules against what I've posted Be Relevant - This thread is relevant as it asks people for their tips about this weeks current Operation Narai, which may help newer players who haven't played it yet Be Constructive - I have been as I gave my tips to new players on how to play it. Out of 12 lines of text written only 3 are what I would consider negative (25%) and 9 are positive (75%). Don't Spam - This is my 1st Narai Ops thread...............EVER. I have posted 4 separate "Operations" threads in 7 months and each was on a different Operation (search Link), so provably not Spam. Maybe YOU should read what YOU have posted so far in this thread about the Narai Operation and look at the rules YOU posted - Be Relevant - Your posts are not about this Operation, not one single post or sentence. Be Constructive - You failed on all three points, no constructive or positive comments about the topic, no discussion "on the topic" at all & posts are only negative in this thread. Out of 1 image and 2 lines of text you have been 100% off topic and negative. Thanks for posting the rules though, it's good to know that I am completely within the rules with this thread and you (and @Juanx too) are completely outside the rules which YOU posted Oh and just to keep this on Topic, I played a Schors game and I really think that it is hard to beat in this Operation with a good combination of 12 fast reloading guns, torps for the BB's and speed, although the armour doesn't hold up well against concentrated BB fire TBF. I think I'll try my Fiji next just to try the RN AP! -

LOL, the irony You could of course just NOT ENTER THE THREAD if you constantly find it boring, wouldn't that be a joy for everyone Anyway, played 3 more times with a Boise (1 star), Belfast (defeat) and Nelson (2 star) with me coming top in 2 of the 3 (missed top in Boise by 13XP) -

Blyskawica - WG says it can't buff it because of "stats".
IanH755 replied to Aragathor's topic in General Discussion
I would suggest from the facts above that you are wrong. You maybe able to make the Bylskwa work but the stats prove that it's the worst Premium DD on EU and 2nd Worst on Ru servers. -
A good clip from Flamu's Twitch showing that, even with the mini-map showing "locked on" the bug is still there https://old.reddit.com/r/WorldOfWarships/comments/afx65a/lockon_bug_nicely_fixed/

On every kilometre.

Nope, it was one of the many changes a while ago when the AI was buffed, captain skills added and spawn locations randomised. I am continually amazed by the number of players who have played this Op before (they don't get an award for "first play") yet STILL have ZERO idea how to play the bloody Op!

[Co-Op] - Finally getting past the 8k Base XP needed to move onto the next part of the mission in this utter piece of crap. It's fin against Cruisers and DD's at under 5km but you'll need to be extremely lucky to even hit cruisers at 8-10km the guns are that bad and should you face a BB, might as well ram it as your guns do nothing unless you are <2km to a broadside ship. Having said that, in this game I only fired 4 times and sank all 4 ships, the DD (1/3 health), the Atlanta (full Health inc 2 cits), the Emerald (full Health inc 2 cits) and finally the Scharn, who took about 10k damage just before I rammed him. God I hate this ship! -
Raptor Rescue - Low Base XP from whole team after 4 star win - XP Nerf or something else?
IanH755 posted a topic in General Discussion
Hi all, Just had a 4 star win on Raptor Rescue where the whole team only got 1000 Base XP +/-50 which is a very low Base XP figure for a 4 star win compared to the 1800 base XP +/-100 game the team I had yesterday got for a 5 star win with a similar performance from myself in the same P.E.F (120k damage, 3-4 kills, a few planes/secondaries and still alive). Has something gone a bit wibble with the XP or do we think WG may have tweaked the XP for Ops as other ones give a much higher base XP for a 4 star win, I mean 1k base XP is the starting point usually yet no-one got higher than 1050 XP today. For myself, if 1k base XP games are the new "norm" for a 4 star win in RR then I'll just move back to Co-Op as I can earn more base XP in the 3 games I can play in the time it takes to finish RR. -
Glasgow was the place I had Deep-Fried Mars bar (fairly well known now) but a few days later while hammered I got a pepperoni pizza from a chippy and couldn't understand what the guy asked so said "yeap", that thing got Deep Fried too! Still ate it, not bad

[cv rework POLL] just disable AA temporarily ?
IanH755 replied to __Helmut_Kohl__'s topic in General Discussion
Have you played the new CV's mr_snowww because the things your saying about the rework aren't backed up by what we're seeing from play experience? For example you say above that a permanently spotted DD with fighter cover above him is safe, but actually he's actually not, as has been shown numerous times including youtube videos. However I do think that having AA mounts survive forever is a bad idea. I realise that our opinions differ but neither of us should stick our fingers in our ears saying "nanana I'm not listening" over the biggest change to the game since CBT. We need to talk, to discuss the pros & cons and put forward opinions from both sides, that's how we get a balance where neither side feels like they are the ones pooped on. -

[Co-Op] - If my guns had reloaded 1 sec quicker this would have been an 8 kill game but I suppose 6 will do! I charged straight into the middle and torped left and right and even citadelled 2 ships to death too - the Okhotnik is so much fun in Co-Op. -
The Wows Wiki confirms that the port dispersion figure is the horizontal distance where at least 50% of your shells will land, so your actual "widest to widest" shell group WILL be wider than the shell dispersion given in Port. That explains the difference in the OP's group size vs port figure. http://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Ship:Gunnery_%26_Armor_Penetration#Shell_Dispersion

[Co-Op] - Any game where you break both 200k damage AND 1100 base XP is a good game but it could/should have been a 5 kill "Kraken" game on top too as I had two "kill secure" salvoes about 2 second away when the ship died, FML and then a really fun game in my Atlanta where I did get a 5 kill Kraken on 1 DD, 2 Cruisers, 1 BB and the CV so one of each class which gave me a nice base XP boost over the rest of the team! -
Brainstorm session: How to increase the skill level of the playerbase
IanH755 replied to Linkaex's topic in General Discussion
To answer the OP - Nothing, nothing at all can or will increase the "skill" of a playerbase where 50%-ish just don't want to "improve" i.e. put time in to learn the game, watch videos read forums etc, and that blissfully unaware 50%-ish being unwilling to learn allows those who DO put the effort in to farm them, improving your own stats etc. So while you'll continue to lose games due to the number of <42% WR players on your team, quite a few times they'll be on the enemy team too!- 61 replies
