What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

[Submarines] - Yet another really good DD game, only this one was had the added benfit of an actual team-mate who could think and breathe at the same time! The Graf Spee played a really good game in backing me up. Together with my smoke sharing, with my hydro and his alternating, we sank DD's, Subs and even a Leader who decided to sit in his smoke screen while my torps flushed him out into the waiting guns of the Graf Spee for a Dev Strike. Some fantastic team play and a small glimmer of hope for myself that there are still good players in the game (I haven't seen many, like 4 in 30+ games). -
Hey WG - Sub testing with teams of 8 bots and 4 humans per side is a waste of everyones time!
IanH755 replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
I've stuck mainly to DD's so far, the Icarus and T-61. Cruisers can't sub hunt with any BB's still alive so they're more "end game" ships "if" they have any health left by the end game, where even a gun firing DD could sink them! DD's are great for anti-Sub but thats just one more thing to do on a long laundry list of "everything else" they now have to do plus they get harassed by CV's like always, meaning anti-sub work goes away until the CV is dead or moved onto someone else. BB';s are incredibly situational. I've had top the board 150K damage games and yet I still haven't been hit by a Sub yet, but I can do nothing to hurt a sub that submerged. Subs/CV's - I hate playing them both. One dimensional boring gameplay. -
I can't remember if this is right or not so take it with a large pinch of salt but I seem to remember that the WOWS customer service and the WOT customer service are all staffed by the same people, so they often make mistakes which make no sense to your request.

Got Pink status because server is unstable (again)
IanH755 replied to Hades_warrior's topic in General Discussion
No I didn't. I said " Lots of people, like myself, play with ping over 100ms with no issues, mine is 130ms because I play from Saudi over a 4G phone connection" - my ping is stable at 130ms and does not "jump up and down" which is why I said "I have no issues" because my ping, even though it's 130ms, is stable. I did say the same thing as you as well - I said that ping changing or "jumping up and down" IS a problem, shown in my quote below. -

I posted this near the start of the thread - The current rewards "5x 100% XP games" isn't enough for most people to justify them playing "Non-Submarines" in this the mode more than a handful of times especially when things like Ranked mode is currently on. WG have really got to massively increase the enticement if they want more players to try the non-Sub roles in testing and I gave a few "off the top of my head - not fully thought-out" examples in the quote above, not that I expect WG to actually do any of those, or top actually increase the incitement to play in any way. In the end though I think we all know Subs are coming no matter what the testing shows, and I think that knowledge means that, to a lot of people, all this testing is going to be pretty much worthless - "Why test when WG are just going to drop them into PVP anyway" etc - so I can understand the players side completely whereas, I'm talking the other path of thinking "if Subs are coming in regardless, I want as much experience of fighting against them as I can get". -

IanH755 replied to Hades_warrior's topic in General Discussion
I'm sorry but that is very wrong and I see that mis-information mentioned a lot. Lots of people, like myself, play with ping over 100ms with no issues, mine is 130ms because I play from Saudi over a 4G phone connection. What is far more important than the ping number itself is if there has been a change of ping i.e if it is normally 30ms and it jumps to 130ms that can be an indication of an issue. However most importantly, even above ping, is "packet loss" where the messages sent between you and the server cluster gets "lost" and the only the way to see that is with a program like PingPlotter which can trace the packets route and see if any went missing and where it happens if they are. For info the Ping number shown ingame is only the speed from your PC to Server whilst route tracing programs like PingPlotter give the Ping as a time taken for a full loop so PC - Server - PC meaning it's double the number shown in-game. -
For more info - Manual Secondaries aren't as good at T6 and lower as the perk only buffs them by 15% whereas at T7 and above its a huge 65% buff.

Played the Sub test in my T-61 DD (my first PvP CV game since the CV-Rework), had a Ranger spot me for about 80% of the 5 minutes I was alive (smoke and squadron swap were the only time I was unspotted). As a DD my biggest perk is Stealth, with a CV I have none if a determined CV decides make my game "fun and engaging" by constantly removing the best perk I have, the ability to "hide" so my very small HP doesn't evaporate. Yes I can stay in smoke for 1 minute, but that fades and then you have nothing for upto 2min30 but if you stay close to your team you are useless for capping or spotting, your AA is fairly Meh at best and if you are anywhere within say 12km of a Cruiser, you're losing a LOT of health, no matter what you do. I'm really struggling to see how a non-AA T6 DD is supposed to play with a CV in the match other than hope and pray they target some other poor sap!

IanH755 replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
I think they thought that more people would be interested in the Mode, but with sooooo many other things happening in the game right now most people don't want to "waste time" after playing 2-3 games over the first 1-2 days (when there was very few bots at all) and deciding that Subs aren't for them. The same happened in PTS CV-Rework, PTS Sub testing etc etc etc etc - after 2-3 games to get a basic idea of "good/bad", people quit to play a different mode. If you don't incentivise people to play the mode, and I'm talking like 50 coal per game, or one day of premium after 3 matches per day, or 300% XP for sub testing in a non-sub, hell even 5 steel per match etc then the next 3 weeks will be a big waste. -

Quoted for posterity, just incase they go live next month I fully expect Subs to get dropped into randoms in 3 months time - I month of testing V1 (patch 0.9.4 currently active) - one month testing V2 (patch 0.9.5 initial balancing) - one month of final balance testing (patch 0.9.6) - Live in patch 0.9.7 which is September and just so happens to be the 5 year anniversary of WoWS Feel free to quote me too so we can see what happens! -

[Submarines] - I was 2 seconds away from a Kraken too, just dropped Depth Charges on the last Sub alive and he just needed one more hit before the points hit 1000! Although TBF I should have had 8 kills instead, one from the Sub then 3 more from "kill steal's", all by the Dunk! Two on ships with under 200hp with my salvo in the air (Fubuki and Izmail) and then lastly when the Dunk rammed the New Mexico as I was 2km away with a whole lot of torps waiting for the Dunk to pass by safely first to avoid friendly damage, the cheeky bugger I'd have loved to have seen what by Base XP would have been after THAT game! -
You mean Polish Greg?

Lots of useless and incorrect waffle in here! @greek_leopard_91 - your complaint is about the 3D model, NOT the Textures - the "texture" you mention is only the "skin" of the ship, but it is the 3D model which you mentioned is poor (with the Wheel in the bottom left being full of edges as an example), so if you reduce the "texture quality" the 3D model with all it's edges always stays the same but the skin gets less detailed. So in effect - 3D Model - WG saved a few polygons here and there in the 3D models, like with the 8 sided "circular" wheel you pointed out, as the model isn't really meant to be hyper accurate (smaller file size etc). Texture - The skin that fits over the model and is altered by adjusting "Texture Quality".

Idea - allow us to demount all signal flags on all ships
IanH755 replied to MahBallz's topic in General Discussion
Nope, there is only the option to demount All Signals on ONE ship at a time. The Op wants to remove All signals from ALL ships with one click. -

Disconnected 3 times in the last 10 minutes. Server going potato?
IanH755 replied to thestaggy's topic in General Discussion
There's a thread already running with WG replies but currently they're still having a few issues which may not effect everyone (for those who say "well I'm OK so it must be good"). -

Do you know what would be nice? If MY TEAM didn't shoot the crap out of me when I'm depth charging a Sub! All of the damage I took in this game was Friendly Fire, all of it, and all when I was within 1km of a Sub. Now the Bot I can understand because WG are "unique" at programming AI, but the human Sub shooting "surface" torpedos at a sub 40m down, well thats just genius there buddy! -

IanH755 replied to WG_Lumberjack's topic in General Discussion
Thats a huge issue right now, plus you get players who don't realise that this is a "TESTING MODE" and not a competitive PvP game, so people don't play as normal but instead focus the Anti-Sub ships (but not the subs themselves) meaning that, as you mention, all the Anti-Sub ships are dead within minutes. Or alternatively players Cap to "win the game" within 5 minutes doing absolutely ZERO testing in the process - So whats the bloody point in trying to do ANY testing if you can't do ANY testing! The same happened on the PTS Cv-Rework testing - players determined to "kill the CV" meant that no-one trying to test "planes vs AA" could actually do some testing, all because some loser wants to get ePeen by sinking a CV, nullifying the whole game for testing purposes, ruining everyone's experience. -
As a DD "main" in this mode here the most effective Sub vs DD/Cruiser tactic I've seen so far, but I sure we all know about it anyway - The 5.9m to 6.1m exploit! Basically you spend the whole game at either 5.9m or 6.1m - If you see a DD/Cruiser charging in at you who ISN'T shooting his guns, stay at 5.9m where you are immune to Depth Charges and, once they drive over you expecting you to die, just surface and torp them from point blank range (0.5km). If they are shooting at you, stay at 6.1m where you are invulnerable to HE then, as the drop depth charges just pop up to any depth above 5.9m (invulnerable to Depth Charges) and you will be so close that they can't shoot their guns at you, so now you can surface and torp them point blank. As WG have made the Sub's "Depth" figure so difficult for DD/Cruisers to see, and most players don't know about the 6m damage cut-off, this tactic is extremely effective right now as most players concentrate at depth charging when at close range rather than shooting HE. Just be careful to avoid being accidentally rammed! The biggest mistake I see Subs do so far is not having a general understanding how DD's/Cruisers "work" before playing (I bet most players didn't even read the Webpage on how to play Subs first), so you see a Sub being chased by a Leander (no HE) diving to avoid being shot by AP (which can't hurt it) and then being caught by the Depth Charges.

IanH755 replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
[Submarines] - I am not this good at PvP I know that, but the human players currently in testing are, for the vast majority of the ones I've played against, mind-numbingly bad players making results like this way too common Also, using so many the Bots is just a waste of time as no "testing" is valid like this. I'm sensing another "CV-Rework" coming up where, like the PTS Re-work testing was ignored, WG will again ignore the results of this testing because "not enough players used the mode so we had to move them into Random for Live testing" followed by 6 months of wild balance swings and an unhappy playerbase. Even in a loss I did better than ALL the "winning" team (my BXP with a 50% win bonus would have been higher than all theirs) but I still made a Million in credits (net too!) so not a total loss! -
Unless I'm mistaken the German BB "style of play" is brawling yet this ship had over 10k of health removed during testing, which Testers who made a video/post about it all seemed to complain about as it makes it unable to brawl effectively, so I'm not sure how a small 0.2km buff to secondaries is "reinforcing the style of German BBs" when the HP nerf directly opposes the German BB play style.

In Co-Op vs same tier ships I'd rather be in the Kirov, but I know it's just people grinding missions so - Meh.

IanH755 replied to WG_Lumberjack's topic in General Discussion
Well would you look at that - A situation absolutely NO-ONE at WG thought would happen apparently. Which leads to games being filled with Bots instead of Humans, making all the testing absolutely worthless! The PTS CV testing was done far better - Play X many "any ship class other than CV" games before being allowed to play 1 CV game, think was token based and I think it was about 3 non-CV games per 1 CV game.
