First German BB Leak - STOP THIS PAPER "WHAT-IF" UPGRADE IDIOCY!
Todger_Fairmile replied to 1MajorKoenig's topic in Battleships
One thing about losing a was, is that the victors get to rifle through your files, and don't always bother to put things back. So it is possible that the Russians could have 'borrowed' a design with 3 gun turrets for H-41. Just not very likely. Or WG could be making the whole thing up. Doesn't really matter, it's a paper ship anyway.- 333 replies

WTF with this german BB line? No pocket battleships and probably no historical Gneisenau/Scharnhorst?
Todger_Fairmile replied to Mik1984's topic in Battleships
The upgrade to 15" is not a paper upgrade. They were designed so they could be upgraded at a future date (the 15' guns could not be ready in time). After the channel dash Gneisneau was damaged in an RAF raid and they decided to do the upgrade as part of the repair, along with a hull expansion to compensate for the extra weight from all the previous upgrades. As for Scharnhorst she will be a tier 7 premium ship, apparently as she was at North Cape. -
Do you think Scharnhorst should be premium?
Todger_Fairmile replied to puxflacet's topic in Battleships
It's interesting. With a 20 second reload and a 20 second rotation, she could fire to one side and fire to the opposite side every other shot. She would still be able to put a shoot two different targets and hit each every 40 seconds, which is not much slower than a regular bb could engage one target. -

Yeah, right after I solve mine. -
The last two times Germany tried to become 'greater', It didn't work out so well. Also as mentioned Hitler was phobic about a ship with the name Deutchland being sunk.

Probably Kolberg.

Hitler was a fan of Frederik the Great. Even had his portrait in the bunker.

Teamkill Warning For Secondary Fire Damage?
Todger_Fairmile replied to Vonslap's topic in General Discussion
You can get one even if you do zero damage. I hope they don't add the pinkspam they had in 5.8 public test, where everyone's warnings show up in the chat window. Even bot on bot. -

Do you think Scharnhorst should be premium?
Todger_Fairmile replied to puxflacet's topic in Battleships
This whole discussion is kind of pointless. No one is forced to purchase the premium Scharnhorst (though I believe the regular one won't have torpedoes). If you want you can take the tech tree Gneisnau and give it 11" guns on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and call it Scharnhorst. WG makes money by selling premium ships to gullible fools customers but they are not forced to buy then. If you really have a problem with it stop playing the game. -

Todger_Fairmile replied to puxflacet's topic in Battleships
As far as I know the premium will be Scharnhorst, as of (at least) the channel dash, possibly North Cape. Gneisneau will have the choice of 11"or 15" guns, and multiple hulls, because they had to lengthen the hull to add the 15" guns. -

Todger_Fairmile replied to puxflacet's topic in Battleships
There are some people who would like to have all of a class of ships as separate ships, and not have to mount or dismount hulls, and other equipment. -

Todger_Fairmile replied to puxflacet's topic in Battleships
We already have the leaks of Scharnhorst as a premium ship, not the tech tree ship. Price 9500 gold https://thearmoredpatrol.com/2016/06/18/wows-leak-tier-vii-german-battleship-scharnhorst-stats%E2%80%8F/ -

Todger_Fairmile replied to puxflacet's topic in Battleships
BTW, chances that the 15" option will require a different hull, so you could wait and try both gun options, then decide if you wanted to buy a separate ship for each. -

Well, bye. -
Do you think Scharnhorst should be premium?
Todger_Fairmile replied to puxflacet's topic in Battleships
It makes sense for Scharnhorst to be premium, because she never began the conversion to take 15" guns. Gneisenau (after being damaged during a British air raid) did. They had to make the hull longer to support the extra weight. With Gneisenau in the tech-tree we'll be able to have both. -
They are selling it for the exact same price as a Warspite. As for Scharnhorst, I'd buy at that price, though with German BB's coming in a couple of months I could wait if too spendy.

Some interesting info around the world
Todger_Fairmile replied to Takeda92's topic in General Discussion
Probably, since it's a paper ship. However, real ships aren't always as well protected as you'd hope. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Dreadnought_(1906) One major problem with Dreadnought's armour scheme was that the top of the 11 inch belt was only 2 feet (0.6 m) above the waterline at normal load and it was submerged by over 12 inches at deep load, which meant that the waterline was then protected only by the 8 inch upper belt. So, will Dreadnought, be at normal or full load in the game? Either way she sounds rather squishey. -

Yes, apparently it can be that hard. -

Rembember reading something interesting about how they don't put port holes in armour (unless the ship has the armour incorporated into the skin, (like Yubari). Looks to me that they may have skipped the armour on a few important places, like under the rear turret.. -
I guess it depends on who you ask. The Germans called it a Battleship, and normally that would be enough to settle it. However by the standard of the Kaiser's navy it would be called a Battlecruiser, because it had Battleship level armor with slightly smaller (or fewer in number) guns, and cruiser speed (see Von Der Tan, Moltke, Seidlitz, and Derfflinger). That's probably why the British classified it as a Battlecruiser. Any one of the aforementioned German WW 1 Battlecruisers was equal in fighting strength to the contemporary French, Italian, Brazilian, Chilean, Spanish, or Russian Battleships. They (the battleships) were all rather 'squishey'.

Did they say THIS year? Of course if all they have to do is re-skin something they already have, then it's possible. -

It's a game, they can do anything they want and call it 'balance'. That IS their go-to answer. -

One of the things that was done to Cleveland to 'balance' her for tier 6 was to inflict those shell arcs on her. When she moves to tier 8 they will be fixed. -
It's not the FPS that's the problem, it's lag.
