Japanese battleship not realistic in the armor

IJN BBs are very much competitive, even those with weak armor. I still consider it the strongest BB line this game currently has. Kongo is fast and has good gun range. Fuso is a long range shotgun that can potentially oneshot any ship it can possibly encounter. Nagato has precise guns and a good set of secondaries. It is also very maneuverable. Amagi is all of the above and has one of the best torpedo protections in the game on top. Izumo with its unique turret layout can angle very well and therefore deflect many incoming shells. Yamato is pure awesomesauce with guns that can penetrate every other ship at any possible angle. You need to learn to use the things the game is giving to you. This is not an ultra-realistic simulator. It is an arcade game and therefore there are plenty of things not like they are in the history books. Not to mention that many of the listed armor values are actually in the game (didn't check for all of them).

    New Upgrades

Those upgrades do not belong in a supercontainer. Comparing them to the value of other supercontainer items they are coming up short. - They are situational - Mostly not worth the slot in comparison to other upgrades - And mostly anyone getting them in a supercontainer gets the feeling that the effort to gain that container is wasted. Other supercontainers, containing camos, flags, ships, premium time or doubloons offer something of immediate value, while some of the modules can't even be used by the "winning" player because he doesn't own or has access to a ship he can mount it to.

WG EU, this is getting ridiculous...

Sure thing. I stole it from the front page anyway. Anyone taking bets that this is just another one of those concern treads where a CC jumps in, only to then be never heard of again, without the issue being resolved or answered?

    Event Calendar - February

Am I seeing this correctly and there will be no double XP this weekend on first victory? https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/special/weekly-missions-feb4/ Edit: I'm almost at a loss for words. So you want to cut down the established weekend routine of double XP for the first victory completly? If so, why didn't you announce it properly, with a reason why you believe we no longer deserve this? Seriously, your communication with the community, despite all your promises in the past to improve it, is not existing beyond making excuses.

Matchmaking, Ranked and Stats - WG .. seriously?

You are writing that you don't consider yourself an elitist, yet make demands like one. Access is already limited by account level. To reach that level a minimum number of games have to be played. To reach a ship tier of the necessary level also needs a certain number of games played, or money payed (which allows all of us to play on this server) to get such a ship. Limiting by winrate is a bad thing, as winrate is a number collected over all games on all tiers and with all ships. When I started to play this game my winrate was a measly 45 %. It soon started to rise and is now (had to look it up just for you) at 56 %. I'm now at 2200 matches played in randoms alone and to raise my winrate by another percent would need about another 70 to 80 consecutive victories without any losses. My actual current winrate is somewhere between 60 and 65 % but it is not reflected by my stats and it will take a long while until it is. Not to mention that some players might have an inflated winrate to due to mainly playing in divisions. Winrate is a completly useless tool as meassurement for gamemode access. And last but not least on that point... if you are so much better then those other players, you should quickly rise into the ranks where you will no longer meet them. The bad and the good will sort themself by the different time they need to get to the single digit ranks. If you don't want to detonate in ranked use anti-detonation flags. Some of us are farming them between the seasons of ranked battles, so we have a good number available when we actually need them. You can earn a bunch more while you rise through the ranks.

    Ranked battles and AFK players

    1. Ranked or random doesn't matter much. While ranked is more competetive, it is still essentially a random match-up with additional bragging rights. 2. I never said that it is happening consistently. But even then, I would never dare to demand to exclude a player from a game due to circumstances that mght be beyond his control. 3. No, it would not. Enjoyment shouldn't come from some virtual stars but from playing the game the best you can. 4. Some people might, some might not. A player that never loads is clearly different from one that needs an extra minute. I would hate it to become the victim of such reloads. Players demanding that other players have no right to play because those other players are inconvinient to them, to me, are a much bigger problem. This is a game. It is meant to be enjoyed by all, not just a select few with "higher standards". In the end it is nothing but a time drain and shouldn't be taken to serious. And it's not like you will meet the players with loading problems again and again and again, completly preventing you from advancing. At worst you might have to play two more games of a game you are supposed to enjoy. I would prefer it if players with such problems would get advice and help on how to solve their problems instead of aggressivness and hostility. One example: http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/74864-occasionally-have-to-sit-out-entire-games-help/ System specs look fine (those of my friend mentioned earlier are much better). By the comment of another user the problem is not related to mods. Yet some, according to this thread, would prefer bannning such a player from a gamemode instead helping him. Even if we players can't help directly, we need to understand that there might even be a problem with the client or the servers that is causing long loading times or complete prevention of activly joining a match.

    Ranked battles and AFK players

Yes, I think it is acceptable to load in late. Even in a competitive mode like ranked battles. The reason: For me it is only a game. Winning or losing doesn't matter much to me. As long as I enjoy the fight, and that can even be achieved when my team is one ship short, everything goes. If someone loads in late but then does the best s/he can do to win the fight, while also enjoying the game, I will prefer that greatly over being rematched over a circumstance I have no influence upon. And don't worry about the match on the PT. I knew I was lost the moment everyone joined the lemming train to go for A only to then stop short of entering it. I later saw that we still won and I at least made some XP on spotting damage.

Once a potato, always a potato

Up until tier IV I'd say you can safely try out all the lines until you find one that you like. Take your time and find something you are comfortable with.

So you decided to be a PITA instead because your wish wasn't granted, or not granted fast enough. By doing this you can quickly lose all the support you might have had.

    Ranked battles and AFK players

You are mixing things up here. AFK is someone who is loaded into the game but doesn't do anything. If he is loaded in, but not at his keyboard, his turrets will still move. AFK = Away from keyboard. As you just excluded the AFK group from being affected by your wish, you simply want to punish everyone with a slow connection or low performance PC. With your suggestion they will never be able to get into a match. And you punish everyone who happens to be mixed up with them by the matchmake to be punished as well.

    Poll to change irrevocable ranks

I'm not totally opposed to the current system or the OPs suggestion. One more safe point would be sufficent for most players. I'd not put it on the league barriers, like suggested in the OP. You should be able to drop out of the top league if you are not good enouhg to stay in there. So a safe spot at rank 8, in addition to the currently available ones, would be enough.

Once a potato, always a potato

First, welcome back. Second, now that you realized your problem, we can work on a solution. You already identified the most prominent issue. You can't hit other ships. As prviously stated, it might be a good idea to go into the co-op mode and learn how your ship and your ships guns handle. This can be very different depending on the ship you are driving, and sometimes even the upgrades you mounted. In co-op you are fighting against dumb AI opponents and it should be rather easy to find a target you can shoot at. Practice your gunnery skills until you start to feel comfortable. Then go back into random matches and try what you have learned. As players will act others then the AI you might need to adjust once more, but not for your aiming but in predicting their maneuvers. If you start to use another ship, start the process all over. At one point you will notice patterns and you should be able to adjust faster and faster. Also, like the others above mentioned, watch some training videos from your common streamers. Some are better then others but in their variety there should be something that will help you getting somewhere.
  20. There where 5 missions in game. Missions 1 - 4 - Reach 20,000 base XP with nation X ships Mission 5 - Win one battle after completing missions 1 - 4 That you didn't notice this mission is not the fault of Wargaming. It was displayed right along the others. The fault lies with you and because of your error you didn't recieve the reward ship. The only one to blame is you and ofcourse support can't help you in such a case.

WG EU, this is getting ridiculous...

You might be right on calling me out on this statement. It is still a ridiculous mission and ramming damage as a goal plain and simply promotes bad gameplay.

    Ranked battles and AFK players

I know a playr that sometimes needs up to 70 seconds to load into a match despite a farily decent PC and normally having a good connection. Only during primetime his connection get wonky and because of that he has to deal with increased loading times and short timeframes with massive lag. The internet connection is not his choice. It the best he can get at his location. Your simple solution would put him and anyone playing with him into a frustrating situation. If I were in a match with an AFK player, even in ranked, I much rather have the AFK player come back sometime to have a fresh ship at our disposal then to restart over and over again because of something I can do nothing about. I could even start to see players doing it intentionally if they believe they have to play in an unfavorably matchup. What would be stopping them?

WG EU, this is getting ridiculous...

Any update on this? Because I believe this weeks mission to be even more ridiculous then previous ones. Mission: Battle of the Java Sea I Restrictions: Random battles, Cooperative battles, Ranked battles Once per account Any ship can be used Conditions - Over any number of battles: Win 1 battle Rewards: 50,000 Credits Ok... so far so good. Sadly the good nearly ends right here. Mission: Battle of the Java Sea II Restrictions: Available once Battle of the Java Sea I is complete Random battles, Cooperative battles, Ranked battles Once per account Any Tier IV+ ship Conditions - Over any number of battles: Shoot down 75 enemy planes Rewards: 10x Juliet Yankee Bissotwo Signal Flags To complete this in a tier IV, within the given time frame, it will require a carrier. So you can just as well increase the tier significantly, though in the higher tiers carriers are getting more and more rare, or make it a carrier mission only. Telling us it is for "Any Tier IV+ ship" is just plain wishfull thinking of your mission planner. Mission: Battle of the Java Sea III Restrictions: Available once Battle of the Java Sea II is complete Random battles, Cooperative battles, Ranked battles Once per account Any Tier IV+ ship Conditions - Over any number of battles: Deal 50,000 damage by causing flooding to enemy ships Deal 50,000 damage by setting enemy ships on fire Deal 1,000 damage by ramming enemy ships Rewards: 5x Hydroacoustic Search II Seriously again the stupid ramming damage that promotes the worst type of gameplay? Flooding and fire are fine, with flooding being harder to consistently achieve high damage numbers so it should be a lower target value, but ramming damage has no place in any mission. And by now we are only at the third step of the mission. At least up to this point co-op is an option. Ramming can be done in co-op where it will hurt other players less and even those not prone to play carriers might try their luck in that mode. Mission: Battle of the Java Sea IV Restrictions: Available once Battle of the Java Sea III is complete Random battles, Ranked battles Once per account Any Tier VI+ ship Conditions - In a single battle: Hit enemy Citadels 7 times Be among the top 3 players by base XP in your team Rewards: Damage Control System Modification 2 Ok... fairly achievable again. To bad that only a fair few players will get to this point, because while doing so they potentially hurt their team in previous battles, due to the stupid ramming damage and the suicide gameplay it promotes. Mission: Battle of the Java Sea V Restrictions: Available once Battle of the Java Sea IV is complete Random battles, Ranked battles Once per account Any Tier VI+ ship Conditions - In a single battle: Destroy 5 enemy ships Be among the top 3 players by base XP in your team Survive the battle Rewards: 20x Engine Boost II 20x Defensive AA Fire II 20x Catapult Fighter II 20x Spotting Aircraft II Final Reward: 15x Dragon flags (+333% Commander XP earned for the battle) 15x Restless Fire camouflage (-3% to detectability range; +4% to maximum dispersion of shells fired by the enemy at your ship; +250% Commander experience earned in the battle) Back to the Kraken. I'm really starting to wish the old weekly training missions back. Except for the Kraken Unleashed, most of them at least were achievable by good gameplay. And even the Kraken one back then was easier, because it didn't involve surviving the battle. To be among the top 3 XP earners in your team is almost a given with 5 kills, so just like it was previously this mission goal is redundant. I still see no improvement on those missions. No player feedback taken into consideration. You are now testing for almost three months. How much longer will you "test" this format until you give it up and start listening to your players? Plenty of players have given up on activly trying to play for the weekly mission. If that was your goal you succeeded. Oh, sorry... WG-EU doesn't exactly have a reputation for listening to it's playerbase. And they have no intention to, unless there is a really big uproar, which weekly missions will probably never create.

    Naming and Shaming

It's so simple I'm confused some of you don't grasp the concept behind it. Thread topic about rule breaking behavior: Screenhsots, videos, and replays are usually about that exact behavior and therefore name and shame Thread topic about how awesome you, or someone else, are (without sarcasm or any attempt at hidden messages) then post your screenshots, replays, and videos as much as you like. The context and intend create the forum rule breaking behavior.
