I don't run it on USN DDs except the Clemson, the arc is too high and, as you say, chance of consistently hitting at long range is low. For my higher US DDs I've got Survivability Expert on Fletcher and Demo Expert on Benson, using both Captains on Sims also. Either choice is preferable than AFT (for me that is). Once you get Concealment Expert you can stealth fire with a (reasonably) comfortable safe zone without AFT. I reset Gearing skills today and haven't decided which to go for, AFT is a possibility as range on that ship is fairly low.

I would say it's not a bad call if you run with premium consumables, for sure smoke. I never did transfer my 15 point skipper to Gearing and trained one from scratch (currently 10 point) and I've had a really rough ride on the way, so definitely don't advise that. I've just reset the skills today, opted for Vig over Sup and have yet to decide which Lvl4 skill to run with, though I'm thinking SE may be the way, I don't often find myself lacking range even at 11.1km max.

I go vigilance and premium smoke on all my DDs. I also have also had plenty wasted reloads when running Sup and premium consumables.

I just used the reskill discount to drop expert marksman and add AFT. And now I'm going to switch back and save for AFT. The extra range is awesome in the Gnevny but turret rotation boost is too important to sacrifice I've found. I was still getting high damage but if anything got too close it gets very hairy without EM. Also I've found Last Stand is critical to Gnevny, not prepared to drop that either for the extra range.

Maybe shot out of smoke, or set it at high speed so there's gaps. Or as above radar/sonar, you will see the icon if you have SA on your captain skills. Doesn't matter to leave the AA on, you can shoot planes and not be detected.

Wow, just wow.

Where does it tell you the amount of credit bonus, unless I'm blind, I can't find it. Also, I understand some prem ships are capped at the maximum tier they can see (+1), again, where do you find this info in game?

The "Situational Awareness" is gone...

I'm going to add the required T1 skill as soon as possible, got about 5 captains this will affect, my memory will fail me before the update if I leave it. At least it will give me incentive to grind my Benson to 16, haven't used it much since T8 was excluded from ranked. -
The sea on my maps is really strange, lines, blocks appearing across it. This is only in 5.7,doesn't happen in the 5.8 PT, any ideas?

Teamkiller (Pink) Status. Current system is not fair/logical.

Exactly, I got taken out earlier in my Fubuki. Kagero torped me as performed a 150deg turn to get a better line on an Iowa that was pretty close to one of our BBs, too close to risk a shot on the line I was travelling. Kagero saw it as an easy take for him but no communication until he killed me, then abused me royally. -

It doesn't even need to be cause damage. I got forced out of smoke by friendly torps while contesting a cap, that was equally devastating. -

Haha, I sunk a friendly Tirpitz this afternoon. In Co-Op, first time out in my shiny new Myoko and got a pink. Here's the kicker, I did 106HP damage while trying to take out the ships near him, reckon I beat them to it by seconds. Anyhow, Team Killer I was so took my pink like a man. -
Not new to the game but new to divisions, teams etc. So I set status to look for div/iwanna join, comment T8DDs,I get a request so join and end up with two t3 cruisers. My question, how do I vet the Division I'm to join?

All above said it, T7-8 above is a break-even a good battle. You got to have a blinder at 9-10 to break even. My advice, if you want to play 8-10 regularly you must have premium
-
Yep, it's a beast. OP in its tier, and not bad up to the 7s you'll occasionally meet.
-
Possibly, doesn't happen in all battles which is strange.
-
How about this; kill a team mate you lose a captains skill point. Your commander is demoted for negligence, now that is a serious consequence, specially at higher tiers.

I can't log in to PT for 5.8, I had no problem with 5.7. As per website advice I used same email address but differing username for PT and 5.7 was my first time, do I need another account for 5.8?

Get enough of these anyway, usually dying and not doing their job, no need to encourage more of it.

I had plenty games like this, tried to send the fleet to B and get DD to cap C, doesn't really matter if you're late to C as long as you secure B. Worked sometimes, my personal favourite was seeing both BBs head about 12km southeast of C and try to defend the empty cap, don't think they fired a shot until they were hunted down after the rest of us had been torn apart.
-
Do you have SA? Detected or not? Spread doesn't have to be wide, even at long range. 5 torps (well at least 3) off a Fletcher can all pretty much hit a BB from 7+km. As for spotter plane, depends where it is when the DD gets in range, perfectly possible for it to get close, torp and leave before the plane came over, my Fletcher air concealment is only 3.6km.
-
You learn something new every day. The amount of gold wasted and disastrous battles... oh well.
-
So if I switch a captain to another ship, I can then put him in a premium and complete the retraining for the new ship? Guess it still doesn't help with SA but retrains quicker with premium XP boost.
-
Any thoughts on 4th level skill for Clemson skipper, he'll probably stay in this ship for a good long time? I've taken demo expert in both Benson & Fletcher but was thinking AFT might be a good option on Clemson, I fire from smoke a lot in T4 so extra range could be useful, mind you, so would extra fire starting.

I found it the other way round, I was terrible in the Mutsu but much better in Hatsu.... so far. Focus on capping and keep moving and searching out lone targets, Colorados are one of my prime targets, they seem to steam around without changing direction much. The other thing I've found that seems to work well, unless you can pretty much guarantee a target is cruising in a straight line unaware, only loose one launcher of torps and keep the second ready for next target. It's better to have 3 miss than 6 and you can have another go much earlier. And even though you have 10km torps, try to close the gap to 7(ish) km for a much higher hit rate. I've had quite a few games where all torps have missed, it's disappointing but just load up the next battle and try again.
