The gun dispersion has improved CONSIDERABLY with the update. Before I wasn't too happy with it either but now it is a joy to play. Way faster than the previous US BBs. Better secondaries that can actually help you against a DD on close range. Amazing AA. It's just more sluggish in terms of rudder shift compared to the earlier US BBs, so if you turn you might catch some citadels (hence never turn ). And the Colorado isn't as bad as people say, just very slow. Anyway, I can recommend the NC (it's not a formal review but a demonstration what it can do):

New York und New Mexico haben halt mehr Geschütze und sind denke ich auch deutlich besser im Nahkampf. Auch die Panzerung dürfte etwas besser sein. Aber die Kongo hat schon ihre Vorzüge. Höhere Reichweite klar, aber die bringt eigentlich nicht so viel da man auf 20km nicht viel trifft. Hier mal ein Video was einen entscheidenden Vorteil zeigt: Geschwindigkeit. Das Spiel hätte man nie und nimmer mit New York oder New Mexico gewonnen:

An answer like "leave it as it is" is missing. Currently it is NOT the case that both ships blow up in case of ramming. A BB can easily ram a DD and survive. And that's ok. Reading the title, I thought this was about the guy who punches with his nose inflicts more damage than the guy who takes it in the side. That's something to think about...

Maneuvrability in the New Mexico is good even without rudder shift upgrade. So I also went for both damage control modules. Only at North Carolina did I start using the rudder shift module.

Hab bisher alles bis Tier 7 bei den US Kreuzern gespielt. Die Cleveland finde ich ist das einzig gute Schiff in der Reihe. Anfangs hab ich es nicht so gemocht wegen der geringen Reichweite. Aber man merkt schnell: das Ding ist so verdammt stark wenn man mal dran ist.. Und die Bogenlampen kann man gut nutzen, um über die Inseln zu ballern, während sich der Gegner wundert wo das ganze Feuer herkommt Siehe hier, und da hatte ich noch nicht mal demolition expert: (feedback zum video ist willkommen)

Ah, flamu, teamkilling on your smurf account eh? ;) Surprised you took vigilance before superintendent. I sometimes do that too. Feels like these are equally viable on lower tiers (better than the 4 point skills in fact). -

It's a strategy, just not a very good one. ;) In my defense, at the end of the video there wasn't much else to do but surf the edge since I was surrounded from all sides.

Question is: by how much can you reduce it using modules and captain skills? Module, basics of survivability etc should bring it down quite a bit.

Stimmt, secondaries spielen bei der Pepsi keine Rolle. Und Träger gibts kaum noch. Wenn du öfters mal HE schießt dann wäre demolition expert für die extra Feuer eine Option. Aber optimal ist das auch nicht wegen der geringen Feuerrate. Irgendeinen 4 Punkte Skill willst du aber vielleicht trotzdem nehmen damit du irgendwann den 5er (concealment expert) kriegst, damit man endlich mal nicht sichtbar ist, bevor man den Gegner sieht - sofern du das Schiff solange spielen willst. Ich finde das Schiff ehrlich gesagt fürchterlich und gebe die US Kreuze Linie nach der auf. Wundert mich, dass es hier so viele gibt die sie mögen.

Schönes Spiel, die Warspite am Ende hat bei unter 1km nochmal gut reingehauen. Konnte man wohl nicht vermeiden ohne gerammt zu werden oder halt weg zu bleiben. Keine Camouflage? Da sieht das Schiff immer so unfertig aus. Bisschen weniger damage aber deutlich mehr Schiffe gefinisht:

I think these are very good choices. Yes manual AA (or advanced firing training) and basic firing training would improve your AA, but the problem is that the base AA of the Kongo is not super good to begin with, so the improvements will be relatively small. Also, on this tier the secondaries aren't very strong yet (low number, low range) so skills that improve it (like the 4 point skill advanced firing training) aren't that useful either - I think a second 3 point skill (like the torpedo spotting you chose) can be more useful there - after superintendent. Especially because Kongo is not really a brawler, more like a mid range ship (with potential for long range sniping, which of course you should never do ;)). In any case, 1: basics of survivability, 2: gun traverse, 3: superintendent are a must, after that you have a bit of flexibility. -
I read this thread a few days ago and thought I had a nice game with my Fuso recently that I could share. Personally, I always learned a lot from watching other successful players (second only to playing a lot myself ;)), so maybe this helps. Overall, I like the Fuso a lot. Sure, the guns aren't very precise, but you have a lot of them so even on 15km something will hit, so you can reliably inflict serious damage. In the game below I mostly keep to mid and low range fighting.

And in the first half of the clip pretty much every salvo was a citadel hit, even if the enemy was completely angled. RNGesus certainly supported the player there. Still, good round.

Well probably because pretty much nobody wants to play coop at Tier 8, so anybody who does would have to wait for hours to get a game started. Hence WG fills the slots up with AI to get the ball rolling faster. Been a while since I played coop but can't you use the friendly AI ships as meatshield and shoot the enemies while the AI chops each other up? If the AI rushes in so do you! -

I thought the recommenders would get a ship too. Turns out it's just a chest. I am disappoint. But it's better than nothing, no doubt. I guess a lot of the complaining is about the perceived fairness of what the newbies get (more valuable) vs what we get (less).
