According to this Ernst Gaede has 4x1 150mm guns. That has 1936A Mob written all over it, the simplified 1936A Narvik class DD.

nurfing torps isn`t the answer when going anywhere near a radar equipped ship is suicide. You can spend a whole game trying to run away from 2 des moines in in a american DD and you will never get away. they are about as fast as you, of course way faster every time they knock your engine out, usually at least twice pr radar. A des moines has like 6-7 salvos of free damage on a DD every time they use their radar. That makes any offensive DD play, especially when you are supposed to and expected to be up on front and first in the caps, like a tango on a bed of nails. Anything over 25 sec of radar shouldn`t be available for any ship. This isn`t a angry post stemming from one bad experience, but from too many games trying to outrun ships I really cant run away from. Wargaming needs to do something about radar. The time needs to be nurfed and maybe make it a module that can be knocked out if Wargaming doesn`t want DDs to be passive. I would like to say I refuse to enter a cap in a DD if there is a potentially radar equipped ship around, but I still do it. And I regret it every time. It might not end the game for me, but if I survive I will play defensive the rest of the game. Health and knocked out modules leave me little choice.

If Wargaming wants DDs to play more offensive..

Yeah, its absurd to be in a DD these days. As far as I can see everyone is suddenly experts at blind fire... Most of my deaths is as far as I can see from blind fire. BTW, I know its not real blind fire, but from the information in game available to me it is.. -

If you have been up against T8 or T9 you are in the range 20-30 sec radar, as I stated as acceptable time. And I would really like to see how you play if you make sure never to get within 12k of a CL potentially equipped with radar. Then you more or less would have to stay 12k away from any island a cruiser could be behind. Forget about C on Land on Fire. And so many other caps. Or at least you need to cruise in the back and hope you will see all the radar cruiser clustered together and then go as far away from them as possible. -

As a DD captain i suppose you sometimes get engaged with a DD inside a cap, and then cruisers usually show up while you are contesting the cap. Happens pretty often to me. And of course you got islands that blocks dectection. Of course I could wait and see and never go into a cap before Im sure there are no "radar ships" approaching, but I have a feeling that would make me really unpopular and rightfully so. Players wants their DDs to play offensive. Most DD captains wants to play offensive. Wargaming wants DDs to play offensive. BTW, Im not saying "no" to radar. But it makes little sense to make it that powerful and then nurf RJN torps to "force" DDs to play more offensive. -

Of course. But it takes away the from the experience, since you cant do anything to get away. They move as fast as you so you havent got the speed for a change in direction to get away. If you do, they will be closer the next time they use radar and then you are in even deeper. Im not playing the pink dragon in Heroin Hero.. But that isnt the major issue for me. Its that going into the cap, especially in early game is a sure mangling, if you are lucky. Then you are lit up for half the enemy team for 40 sec and there is very few players that can dodge what could easily be 30-40 salvos in just as many seconds. To get specific, the worst example I had 3 DM that lit me up in a cap. I tried to hide in a small nook in an island, I couldnt move anywhere without them all firing at me and by the third radar burst they found a place that they could in cover fire at me, and they did. I ran and of course died before i got to 20 knots..
