[Poll] Will you use time-limited discount for Premium ships in Armory (25%, 20%, 15%, 10%)?
HMS_Kilinowski replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
No. Not only that. I just a couple of days ago got my -30% discount code for my anniversary of joining the game. I did not use it. I was disappointed by the Makarov-Gate and I felt spending money was the wrong signal under these circumstances. In my experience, economic actors first and foremost listen to money. Any criticism just shatters on their firewalls. But if money stops pouring in, some executive might finally start asking the right questions. -

The new USN-BB2 line is so noobish, not only does Wargaming have to bribe people into playing it with an event, they even need to promote the promotion with pop-ups and constant reminders of its existence. May I suggest to just make more interesting lines in the future? It's actually funny: I have been waiting for certain already known playstyles to be put into perfection in some premium ships or lines for years. Yet, every time a new ship is released that might be just that, it is off by a mile. When Somers came out I thought: "Finally a premium Shimakaze." Turned out it had predator levels of concealment, which doesn't work for a Shima-style lollibote. When Azuma/Yoshino was announced, I thought: "Finally a super-Zao." Then maneuverability was poor which blew the concept of dodging damage. When USN-BB2-line was rumored about, I was excited: "Massachussetts, just without the heal." No somebody at WG thought about what was the most useless permutation of features and designed a line around it. I guess before we see any more reasonable concepts in this game, we'll see submarines with a deck gun reload booster or able to launch planes when surfaced, secondary-only DDs with 30km Asashio-type deepwater torps or maybe even something as unthinkingly as CVs with "dam-buster" barrel bombs ... oh wait ... -
About the purchase of strasbourg
HMS_Kilinowski replied to Triplexmazi's topic in General Discussion
Not at all. I am just using my own mind instead of blindly parroting an authority. So are all T7 BBs. That is not an argument against the Strasbourg specifically but against most T7 ships. Most T7 DDs and cruisers don't uptier well due to the lack of the concealment mod. Very few T7-BBs can compete when uptiered. The few that can are separated into those that can do damage and those that can tank. Every T7-ship is a compromise when uptiered that needs to be played carefully and consciously. That is true. Strasbourg gets overmatched because it has 26mm of armor all over. Flamu makes this sound special. It is not. Nagato, Colorado, KGV and DoY all have 26mm all over. Other ships like California or Lyon - don't know about all the premium ships - got 26mm plating on bow, stern and/or the upper belt. Nelson regularly gets citadelled through the nose. It has a huge citadel that almost covers the entire width of the ship. You can't miss it. Strasbourg has a box half the width of the ship and considerably lower above the water line. Nelson still is considered one of the best T7-BBs. The main point Flamu did not even mention: Strasbourg is a fire-starter. Effectively it starts more fires than any other T7-BB. According to the wows fitting tool, it starts 2.32 fires per minute, compared to 2.39 on the King of fires George V. Add in the dpm-surplus of the reload booster and it bests KGV. In one aspect Flamu was right: You play it like a cruiser. You stay mobile, you spam nose in targets and you prepare for them being fed up and turning, so you can punish them. Everybody who tries to bow-tank in a Strasbourg "cause frontal turrets" ofc will get slapped and blame the ship. Nagato, Ashitaka, Colorado, Nelson, KGV, they all get a similar amount of plane kills as the Strasbourg. To be fair, the Strasbourg really doesn't have good AA. It's playstyle however partially mitigates that weakness. Since you play it like a kiting cruiser, the Strasbourg is moving full speed most of the time, so it can dodge way better than e.g. a stationary Sinop. Also the dispersion and arcs are not bad. I play the Strasbourg a bit like an Azuma, at longer range. Not only can you dodge shells better, but CVs don't like to fly through many AA bubbles, just to strike a ship in the back of the line. I mean don't get me wrong. Some of Flamus points are absolutely valid and correctly observed. But he craves attention, so he likes to create drama and be very binary in his judgement. The Strasbourg is a ship with weaknesses, but if you play it right, it has an impact on the game. It's currently my highest damage T7-BB and even Flamu gets almost 200k damage in his review. It's basically a free ship. If anybody still thinks you should skip the grind, as Flamu suggests, worship your god and do so. -
About the purchase of strasbourg
HMS_Kilinowski replied to Triplexmazi's topic in General Discussion
As we say in Germany: Flamu says a lot when the day is long. Owning the Strasbourg I found his review biased, besides the point and as lurid as ever. Strasbourg is not a bad ship and being for free, i.e. a fair grind, it is a way better deal than the dockyard ships. -
You are limited in terms of both ressources. However that somewhat balances it out. Since you get less XP you play more battles to grind a ship. More battles times less earnings equals a not so much lower amount of credits. Don't try to grind to T10 on the shortest possible route. Get some fun premium ships for any of the four free ressources. Together with Zulu and Wyvern signals, they print credits. Don't buy signals from the armory, but restrict signal use to the most effective ones and mid to high tiers.

Yours worst and best premium purchases of the 2020
HMS_Kilinowski replied to ZaalKoris_vas_QwibQwib's topic in General Discussion
I wish I could have bought ships this year. Every time I felt tempted, some weird decisions were made by Wargaming that I needed to sanction. I still got the two dockyard ships, Odin and Anchorage. Those were the worst acquisitions of this year with Anchorage leading by a big margin. Buffalo was already a torture. Anchorage has slower reload and smoke firing penalty that backfires. You can get it to work, but the ship is not fun. The best ships I got this year were Smaland and Georgia. Both are so versatile and fun to play. -
To buy or not to buy - Ist das günstig, oder kann das weg?
HMS_Kilinowski replied to Grandpa_Hulka's topic in Neueinsteiger

I wasn't talking about how things should be, but about reality. Imagine a customer support-employee handling 50 requests per day. They want to solve a ticket within 10 min. They are on a schedule. If their co-workers do more tickets, it makes them look bad. So if they can solve your case easily and at a reasonable cost, they will go for it. If a ticket goes back and forth for days that is excess time, time they don't have. So they are motivated to approve your request for withdrawal. The value of your purchase is a key factor. A simple support worker can't approve certain amounts. Consequently, the lower the value and the more time you make them invest, the more inclined they are to fold. Also note, excalating is not a criticism. You have the right to escalate. But there is only certain steps to take. Once you reached the highest level, you cannot go down without losing credibility. That would be bad, cause if the support doesn't take you serious, they won't fear consequences. It's a smooth dance, buddy.

Also für beide Feinschliffe findet man gute Argumente.

In my experience people tend to escalate situations too early and too extremely. The important step is that you have declared your intention to withdraw from the purchase within the legal deadline and containing all the relevant information. That's not much. All it takes is to explicitly state: "I want to withdraw from my purchase." Afterwards the period of limitation is quite long. it gives you enough time to try different options. The first option, as already explained by @Sunleader, is an informal request to the community manager. These guys are usually nice and very interested in keeping you as a happy customer. Be polite, be nice yourself and it all should sort out within a week or two. If that doesn't work, find a friend or family member with legal expertise and have him write a legal letter to Wargaming. In my experience, customer support people have little legal expertise. If they read a lot of legal paragraphs, they usually hand the ticket to a superior. The superior usually has the discretion to make low-level legal decisions. If the value of your purchase is low, say below 300€, he will usually just give in, cause they are drowning in work and you are just a nuissance. So they get rid of you quickly to focus on more important stuff. In short: Taking up their time and risking to look bad to their superiors is enough for them to give you what you demand.

Also muss man immer in Bewegung bleiben. Bei 330 mm-Geschützen schießt man viel HE.

Your topic says the system sucks, but all you criticise is the rewards. Why then didn't you title it "The rewards in the new Ranked suck"? I get your point and the point many here made that they find the new rewards to be too low. But that is not the "new ranked system". The new ranked system is the subdivision into leagues devided by several qualification rounds. I find that to be an improvement. It slightly prevents people from letting others carry them into top ranks. If Wargaming would finally move away from the "keep your star"-rule and compensate that with less battles to reach better ranks, Ranked would finally be a game mode played not just for the rewards.

can u imagine his "luck", totally legit, no BS
HMS_Kilinowski replied to HMS_Edinburgh_C16's topic in General Discussion
Plebs don't read the forum. They are lazy. Also there is no way of telling if a forum member really had a legit series of drops and everything happened just as described. A clip from a stream is more authentic, thus more credible. Ofc it's statistics. It's never luck. Why would Wargaming or any casino say phrases like "if you're feeling lucky" or "try your luck"? You won't hear them ever talking about their own luck, like "if we're lucky, we won't have to give you a lot of stuff for your money." Why? Cause it's no luck. It's statistics, the law of large numbers. Given the player plays a large number of games or a large number of players plays the game, it all evens out towards the expected odds. WG don't need luck. And the buyer probably lost the gamble the second he pushes the purchase-button. Just think about the game Roulette. Your chance of winning is 1/37, with one 0. Most casinos have two 0, so your odds are 1/38. You only get 36 times your bet if you win, but you only win once every 38 games. Not a very encouraging bet. Not a fair bet, as they teach in economics. Still, the bet at least is transparent. Now Santa Crates and other loot boxes in WoWs are like a game of Roulette, where the casino spins a hidden wheel and refuses to even tell you how many 0 they got on their wheel. Could be 1, 2, maybe even 10. Who knows? I wouldn't bet under these conditions. Even if some of you are gambling addicts, even if there is an irresistable urge to gamble for anyone, then at least outsource your gambling: Go to a real casino or another place where you can bet money for money. A place where you at least are told your odds. Gamble there, and if you are lucky and got some real money back, you can still go to the premium shop and buy a ship. There is no argument why gambling and the game of WoWs need to be administered by the same company. I'd even say it's counterintuitive. At some point, you can easily imagine, the gambling aspect becomes the dominant aspect of the business. Then, when revenues are gained through gambling, that takes a negative toll on the game. Then WoWs is no longer a game. It's a front to justify the gambling hidden beneath the waves. Then decisions about balance and content for the game are not made with the hygiene of the game in mind, making the best game possible. Decisions then are made based on how to ideally promote the gambling mechanics. That kills the game in a way no CV-rework or monetization on T9/T10-ships could ever do. Exactly. Also there is a phenomenon, I don't remember the scientific name: Empirical studies on the human perception of probabilities show that humans fail to correctly evaluate the expectations of events of extremely low probability. A coin toss, a roll of the dice, the human can correctly assess the risk of losing and how high the pay-out needs to be to justify that risk. Like with a coint toss, the odds are 1:2, so the human mind correctly processes you want at least double your bet back if you win. On very low probability games, like a state lottery or ... gambling for a Missouri, the human mind is flawed. It tends to overestimate the chances of winning. Consequently the player is willing to place a bet that is way higher than the expected pay-out. -

HMS_Kilinowski replied to HMS_Edinburgh_C16's topic in General Discussion
The thing is we know nothing about drop rates or anything about the gambling mechanics. Wargaming refuses to reveal these drop rates. Whenever someone in the forum asked about it in the past, he didn't even get an answer like "we won't tell you cause we don't need to", they just ignored these questions like they were not asked in the first place. There is not only no transparency, but the community even finds out about misleading presentations of an existing short list. And even after being caught with the hands in the cookie jar, all that happens is a small correction in the forum, while the rest of the community is reading the same misleading information even now, two weeks after the whole Makarov scam has been revealed. Now with all that secrecy over years, I think it's not tinfoiling, if one argues that anything is possible, that is in the interest of this business. I remember an interview with Rob Zombie, where he talks about his parents selling lots at a fun fair. He says his little sister ran around the fair all day long with a huge teddy bear that was the first prize, because his parents wanted people to think you could win the bear in their lottery. It was a promotional lie to persuade people to buy their lots, in a false believe the odds were fair. Under the current circumstances, would it be an overly crazy idea to think maybe WG wants their CCs to win a lot of ships so the players watching those videos think the odds of winning ships are way higher than they are in reality? All it takes is some modifier for CCs in the armory or premium shop. If your account is a CC-account, your drop rate for a ship could be 3 times higher. Why should I believe such a video? The CCs don't even need to be in on that, they don't even need to know, why they are so mysteriously lucky. -
Do you want to ask us a question or is this just a statement? What exactly are you trying to say anyway? Who is the game masters? The developers? What do you want to know from us? Please clarify. After all this is a forum. If you create a new topic, you accept a certain responsibility to make a comprehensive original post. That one sentence you wrote is anything but comprehensive. So please, you can certainly do way better.

I'm nobody's mother so naturally every player can choose whatever he wishes. It's neither my obligation nor intention to overrule that. I just realize the OP has a rather new account with many nice ships missing. It would be unfortunate if he paid an excess amount of coal for a ship that is rather unpopular, just to find out one of the ships to be removed soon, would have been a better choice. Currently I cannot recommend in peace of conscience to a new player to not secure one of these nice ships for his future endeavors and go for the Neustrashimy instead.
-
It's a safety precaution, intended to prevent the people who want to buy it from getting it and making a huge mistake. Thank WG for that and get a ship worthwhile instead.

Hizen does not interest me. I got the Musashi long ago. It's the better ship and there is not going to be any kind of mission that requires a T9 IJN-BB and would work with Hizen but not with Musashi. Also I have never seen a mission exclusive to T9. You will be able to finish such a mission in many existing T8-10 IJN ships, one of which you certainly got in your port. So, from a rational perspective, Hizen is not going to add anything to the game. And I couldn't be happier about it. At least at this point in time, nobody yet can be unhappy with this ship, cause nobody has it yet. This ship imo is a true gift for christmas: A ship nobody needs. Why would you even want this ship to be good? Spare your time and money. Be happy there is no "must-have"-ship to grind over the holidays. Spend time with your families and play as much as you want and not as much as some grind dictates. Play the ships you love and don't grind the 200th port queen.

In your opinion why should i get Massachusetts ?
HMS_Kilinowski replied to Butterdoll's topic in General Discussion
The guns are a bit trollish. They hit as hard as the other USN-BBs, if they hit. The dispersion is much worse, tho. So you won't get the massive volleys from North Carolina. You will get a citadel hit at range but not three. The Massa is for brawling at medium range. Under 10km you will hardly notice the difference. For me the guns never felt bad, cause in a Massa you are much too busy to worry about your dispersion. In the new USN-BBs, where you wait 40s for the reload, you curse when your shots are missing. But in Massa you want to get close enough so your dispersion won't matter. Also USN-BBs got no Aiming Systems Mod. They get range instead and accuracy in the 6th slot, where other BBs can opt-in for range. Since Massa is T8, it has no 6th slot. But this is where the puzzle solves itself. You got 18.3 km range. There is no way and with the worse dispersion there is no use having more range. You get in closer and you buff your secondaries in the 3rd slot. The secondaries are so accurate, they get the same number of hits at max range that a Bismarck gets at ~8km. Then you get the faster cooldown on heals. Together with the secondaries, that makes the Massa quite tanky, when angled. And then you got 406mm main guns. All the tankiness is for nothing, if a 27mm bow can just wheather your salvos and torp rush you. So the 406mm make sure you can overmatch most of the cruisers. The ship just makes sense as it is. It only gets better, when you get the Georgia and with it the speed and accuracy on the main guns, which evens out most of Massas weaknesses. The only true weakness is Massas cheek and sides and ofc its range. But Massa gets a spotter plane, I played it with the fighter for a long time, until I understood how the fighters were nerfed into being useless. With the spotter you can even shoot targets well beyond 21km, and sometimes hit them. I think the Massa is worth it. With the captain skill rework, I will likely train a unique captain on it and use it for Massa, Georgia and Ohio. It's the third BB-line, the best if you ask me. -
wait what ? ships removed and put behind paywall!!!
HMS_Kilinowski replied to albin322's topic in General Discussion
Dear OP, let's boil it down to the essential: The other ships are nothing to be upset about. They all were sold for real money in the premium shop. Whatever incompetent whale wanted to buy them, likely already did. The only thing imo undermining WG's credibility here is wanting to remove ships for being overly popular and efficient and then making a sellout based on players willingness to pay for them. That's cheesy. Wargaming is aware of the sad fact that many players leave the game and will keep doing so, cause they don't like the way the game is heading. Overpopulation of certain ships will solve itself by not fixing the CV-rework and further pushing players away by introducing submarines. Just look at some of the now inactive players you knew a year or two ago. Most of them got at least a Belfast, Kutuzow, Kamikaze, some even a Missouri. I know a guy who whaled for years, invested hundreds of Euros into the game an has persistently announced to stop playing the day subarines are introduced. It's a great scheme to sell dreams in Santa Boxes and then lose old players with full ports in favor of new players with empty ports. Of course it would be malicious forethought if the game was ever changing its meta to induce a rotation of the player base, replacing those saturated with products by those who are still capable of doing so. It would be inappropriate to demonize WG like that. -

HMS_Kilinowski replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
The pain? Do you even have a remote idea of what inconvenience these changes will cause me? Concerning how empathetic Wargaming has been lately concerning the need for free captain respecs, you can assume we get a way too short free respec period and that's gonna be it. Nobody in the world is going to have a sufficient time for testing, before the respec period expires. Bear in mind, when I say testing, I am not talking Random Battles. That's playing. Testing is really going to training room with another crazy person and work out the details of the new skills and possible interactions. As I have repeatedly said, nobody can find a decent working build for a captain, before the new resulting meta has fallen into place, which will take at least a couple of weeks. Currently it takes 1.7M CXP to train a full 19 pt captain from scratch. In the future it's gonna cost almost 3M CXP to get a full captain. 1.2M more CXP cost for something that is not necessarily an increase in flexibility. For example the Adrenaline Rush skill is going to move from 2-pts to a 3-pts-skill. AR was given, up to now, you had it on almost every ship. If that is still the case now, then you already have used one of the two additional points of a full captain just to maintain that skill. It might well be that the additional points are just excess cost for existing skills that have become more expensive under the new system. It might well be that these old skills are still the best build on some ships. Then all that changes is a hidden increase in prices for captains. Also with the way higher cost for training full captains, if you look beyond your nose, what happens to all those special signals and camos like the Asian Lantern? All that stuff will still be advertised as being as valuable as it has always been. The cost of certain premium containers will be explained by the value of its drops, among which will be these items used to gain CXP. If I now need 70% more CXP to train a full captain, the Asian Lantern camo and all the signals are depreciated in value by a good 40%. Are they gonna drop in price down to 60% of their current value? Certainly not. Is the exchange rate of doubloons to FXP gonna change? After all ou can use it as CXP and also prices for FXP-ships have increased. Certainly not. So yeah, we get a change advertised as something positive, which is likely rather a hidden price increase on the bottleneck ressource of the game. -

It would appear that there are no more containers for premium ships. Wargaming seems to have enough testers just handing out a couple of signals. For me however this is not worthwhile anymore, so I'll take the reward of 65 GB more space on my hard drive and uninstall the PT-client.
