What STEEL ship should i Take???

Yeah my bad I just compared the two, they're not even in the same ballpark. OK so this example of "better AA" actually is better AA.

What STEEL ship should i Take???

No, there's 2 kinds of AA Flak, this demolishes planes if the cv is a potato and flies into it, flak is all you need against +- half the CV players. Continuous, but the dirty secret about continuous AA damage is if it's 25% better, it's not better at all, it could be 50% better and still yield exactly the same results consistently. Continuous AA on a ship with "good AA" is only better than continuous AA on a ship with "bad AA" if it's so much better that it reduces the amount of strikes that gets through by one. Lets say your ship has 300 AA DPS, mine has 500 DPS, taking out the squadron before the second strike requires 600 DPS. There is no difference between your 300 AA DPS and my 500 AA DPS, they yield the exact same result, two strikes.

A few months ago I said the most frustrating thing about DD/CV interaction is if you're a DD and you "upset" the CV by trapping his planes the CV can go for your again, and again, and again for 20 mins, even if he doesn't achieve anything because you're outplaying him, he's still owning you, effectively a potato CV can keep a super-unicum DD occupied for 20 mins, the only requirement for this is the potato CV has to be sufficiently "upset" I suggested AA gunners on DDs level up during the game as they shoot down planes, the idea got a lot of support. I'm glad with AA being part of AR this idea made it into the game, sort of. I'm sure someone over at weegee came up with this independently and it's a coincidence, but still, this is a welcome change. Skill that adds one extra flak puff is also very nice on lower tier DDs that only have one flak puff, they get double flak, it won't do anything against good CVs, but it will help against below average ones. Potato CV can also get any DD killed by simply flying in his general direction repeatedly, as the DD will get shot by everyone and shells landing is inevitable. 20% dispersion debuff after getting spotted is an interesting way to try and mitigate this. For all the crap i've given weegee on this particular topic, am excited to see changes in the right direction. A bad player should never dominate a good player simply because they're playing a specific class. I don't mind CVs "getting me" in a DD, I do mind that a CV player basically has to bash his head on the keyboard and chew on his mouse and it should be more than enough to get me killed. Thanks for looking into that.
  4. 2X19% chance to hit is more than 30% chance to hit under the current system. AR is 3 points now because it buffs your AA, it didn't do that before. Having AR buff AA is something I suggested here months ago, by the way, made a topic for it, got a ton of views. I'm a genius.
  5. There's opportunity for infinite money (imaginary money but still)
  6. It's human nature to look at this and go REEEEE MY TOYS without looking at what you're getting. They're completely ignoring the fact that the ship's secondaries will now blast away on both sides, they are ignoring that demo-expert got nerfed across the board + the fact that they dont need IFHE means they can skill fire prevention, drastic reduction in how often they'll be on fire. The new PT is a 2 point skill, most BB captains will take it to get a torpedo warning, Germans won't because hydro, that's another 2 skillpoints they can spend on something else, with IFHE built into the hull that's 6 extra skillpoints over other battleships. 10% faster reload if something is within secondary range is another powerful skill many BBs will not take but for Germans it should be a no-brainer. There's so much good stuff in this skill rework for BBs, if anyone should be making these spam topics it's cruiser mains, of any nation, cruisers are getting dlcked hard.
  7. What is public test server, never heard of her. Sidenote.
  8. I don't even see how this change would kill the secondary build, from the testing i've seen, chance to hit on secondaries goes from 30% to 19% but the secondaries would be blasting away on both sides of the ship. 2X19% > 30%. So in any situation other than a 1v1 with nobody else spotted in a 12km radius, the new system may actually end up doing more secondary damage. And, again, Germans don't need IFHE, with 21 skillpoints they can have a full secondary build with fire prevention. Basically tank and secondary build in one, these builds will burn less.
  9. Dumb comparison, I don't like Thunderer spam but landing those 24km volleys on moving cruisers is not easy and if a thunderer pushes around a corner not reading the minimap, he explodes, either because something got his citadel or because he ate a bag of torpedoes, two problems a GK doesn't even have to think about, all the GK has to think about in that scenario is getting HE spammed and turning back because he's on fire. Why are you making a big deal out of this, you're an experienced player, you know the German BB line is by far the easiest to play, nobody is saying this to mock people playing them. I'm actually happy new players play these ships because they can always do some damage before they explode and their ship can tank for days if they over-extend, they spot for their team while they burn to death. I do wish they wouldn't sit back in them though, because that's where they're truly useless. Thunderer is also covered in 32, not 50, can be farmed by anything. Meanwhile Germans can be farmed by ... well by other Germans.
  10. I never said that, I never even said German BBs being low skill floor - low skill ceiling ships is a bad thing. I'm saying that the ships being easy to play and you get away with really stupid mistakes is the line gimmick. This is a good thing, German cruisers are similar, you get away with stuff other cruisers can't, you don't have to think about what your HE will pen, it pens everything, and it's super easy to aim, at the cost of less damage, they too get hydro, the ultimate "please hold my hand" consumable, but they don't have any play-making capacity or consumables. I'm happy these ships are part of the game, my first grind was German cruisers, if my first grind was British light cruisers or some other high skill floor ship, I likely wouldn't be here anymore. Obviously ships with high skill floors are more powerful in the right hands. What I'm annoyed with the is the spam of buff my German BB topics, you can't have the lowest skill floor and the highest skill ceiling on a line, that's not how anything works in any video game.

I genuinely don't know what fighter planes are even supposed to do. I have yet to see them engage a CV squadron, do they even work? I've found other uses for them, peeking around corners, giving me some extra vision when a DD is right on the edge of its concealment, extra visual range in cyclones. Are they supposed to shoot down CV attacks? If so how? Am I clicking the button wrong?

Don't play if you can't handle EPICENTRE!!!

Epicentre games, I suspect developers came up with it to have a map where people get closer. Often this has an opposite effect, everyone is too afraid to be first in the pool and get wet, then you get results like OP posted, nobody died. But sometimes people do go in and the map is a brawl - I have no idea what devs could do to make this happen more often.
  13. Worst winrate at T10 this week : Montana T9 : Izumo and Iowa T8 : NC and Monarch T7 : Nagato and Colorado T6 : New Mexico T5 : Kongo and new york Where are their buff my ship topics? Never seen one. But i've seen 3 buff my German BB topics today for one cherry picked aspect of skill changes that haven't even happened yet.
  14. Damn, you're right, didn't know German BBs get ice-breakers too, good for you. You know what i've never seen? Give north carolina hydro topics Give sinop torpedoes topics I'm starting to think German BB players make these topics while they're sitting in A1 waiting for their team to die. The skill changes haven't even happened yet and there's 3 of these topics for German BBs in the first 2 pages.
  15. Well yes, why does that matter, been playing awhile, don't need trainer-wheels anymore. Wish I started the game in German BBs though, looks comfy, show broadsides all you want, cruiser turret traverse, 50mm deck armor at T6 so even heavy cruiser HE doesn't do anything, hit the hydro button when destroyers are around. I find it amusing German BBs have all this and there's a 48 hour cycle of "Give russian bow armor!" "Give american accuracy!" "Give lasers!"
  16. Pros vs akizuki + Pan Asian smokes best smokes + DefAA (Hey, at least it's not placebo fighter planes) + Good firestarter Cons vs akizuki - 33% less DPM - 17mm pen instead of 30mm pen - Deep water torps So it is less effective against destroyers, cruisers and battleships. But it can sit in smoke for days starting fires and deal with pants-on-head CVs better.
  17. I've gotten 1 ship out of a crate in all my years playing and it was a monaghan, a farragut with a missing gun. Getting premium ships in random crates is rare, you're not on a wargaming shltlist, nobody is getting a lot of premium ships from random SCs.
  18. Lets stop sugar-coating this, German BB's have a low skill ceiling and a low skill floor, they're battleships with trainer-wheels, I recommend them to anyone starting out in world of warships, you can over-extend and get away with flat broadsides that would devastate anything else, you can fail to read the map but your guns rotate fast so you can still get some salvos off. You can completely fail to recognize when a destroyer is hunting you, just pop hydro. Your ship is potato-proof, that's the gimmick. You can't have american accuracy, they need that, it's all they have, if their aim is bad, their ship is garbage, yours isn't. You can't have Russian bow armor, they need that, it's all they have, if they misposition or over extend, they explode, you don't. Your potato-proof ship just got 10% extra DPM at close range -where you should be using it- and it's going to be on fire a lot less. German battleships are getting a buff, a big one.
  19. Very much this, potatoes can't aim, they'll quickly discover they would benefit far more from using the new skills that improve performance at close range. Flamu is looking at 10% increased dispersion on a thunderer sitting 24km back because he actually would land 10% more shells with 10% better dispersion. And even if potatoes sitting in the back would land 10% more shots, they weren't landing any shots to begin with, nobody cares. A bad and even an average player will get far more use out of -10% reload at 12km than he will get out of -10% dispersion at 24km. Because he can actually hit something at 12km. Flamu's concerns would be valid if every battle was 24 unicums, it isn't. Some potatoes will discover the skills that improve close/midrange dpm are better for them, some will continue sitting in the back and they will continue to miss every salvo, 10% dispersion buff won't help them. Dispersion doesn't matter if your shells don't land in the correct timezone.
  20. Why is everyone pretending secondaries is what makes German BBs work, write down how much damage you do with them, it's less than you think. What makes German BBs work is they're goddamn animals at close range with lots of fast reloading and fast traversing but smaller caliber guns, turtleback armor, thick deck armor, hydro, often torps. You also don't know how the skill changes will shift the meta, some skills encourage sitting in the back yes, some new skills encourage getting closer. What may very well happen is a bunch of ships will sit less far back, they will end up in German BB's favorite range. German BBs laugh at direct HE damage, but they fear fire, demolition expert is getting nerfed, you'll burn less. Torpedoes are getting buffed, guess which battleship line doesn't care, German BBs. German BBs also don't need IFHE so you can run secondary builds with fire prevention. Stop focusing on the one bad thing for this line.
  21. What's silly is playing a ship six rounds and drawing conclusions.

    Is too late for Hizen?

I think if they did a dockyard ship that's good, we would end up with too many of them, because cheapest way to get a premium. -Odin is a brawler, which is bad, but it's also bad at brawling, which is sad -Pommern too is a brawler, but at least it's really good at it, and it's fun -Anchorage looks great on paper, smoke/hydro combination, torps, american AP. But it's a buffalo hull with pensacola guns, requires almost flat broadside to put out below average dpm, turns out radar is way more useful than smoke in a heavy cruiser, especially with 8km smoke firing penalty, it works in divisions I guess -This thing But I'm looking at this from the autistic min-max perspective, for a casual player it's an engaging way to get real premiums with premium economy on a budget. Not everyone cares, art team did a great job and haha big guns go boom.

    Kamikaze ability

I can barely read this but looks like you're suggesting CV planes kamikaze into DDs and do 3K damage each + 3 permanent fires. So basically, if, by some miracle, the DD's AA manages to shoot down an airplane, which has been just about impossible since 2019, you want the planes that were shot down to crash into the DD and kill him anyway? I ... I see. Well it's worth a shot, wargaming already made CVs immune to being damaged by DD caliber shells, immune to fire and flooding, i'm sure if you ask them nicely for homing missiles they'll deliver. Ask for lasers while you're at it.

  25. Hey, it had a kamikaze statpadder on the other team, he lost, that's all that counts.
