The most "accurate" DD ranked tier list ever made
COPlUM replied to Mikey626's topic in General Discussion
I think that's partly because potato DD players prefer Halland, you know, DD players that don't know they have guns. So often you see Hallands trying to torpedo one and thesame BB for 20 mins without ever landing torps because if the BB has priority target and/or a functional pre-frontal cortex, he'll just play his match, ignore the Halland and change course frequently. DDs like black, Smaland, daring etc tend to get stuck in and actually do their job, get the enemy DDs killed. I've had BB games where a single Halland was trying to land torps on me for 20 mins, he was never spotted, I didn't care he was there, nobody cared. Just hitting the A and D keys every 45 seconds renders them entirely useless if they're played like this, he barely even affected my match. Please DD players 1) Your ship has guns, use them 2) If a battleship knows you're there and knows what he's doing, you're not going to land torpedoes, if he dodged your first set, he'll dodge your next 9 sets ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Go be useful somewhere else Halland being played properly is actually a big threat -
Reasons people fear the HE spitting Thunderer > It makes "sniping" - Which is almost always the wrong play - easy. So while you can ignore a GK sitting on the J line, you can't ignore a Thunderer doing it. > If you get blapped from across the map, it's always a Thunderer, because they're good at it, the ship is being spammed hard in T10 and people remember being blapped from across the map > It does not care if you're angled, even if you're in a battleship Reasons people play HE spitting Thunderer > If you sit on the J line and have 63% fire chance with extreme accuracy, you'll live longer than anyone else on your team and rack up high damage numbers. You are more useful than other potato BBs sitting on the J line but that's a very low bar ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Why you should not nerf or even fear HE spitting Thunderer > Racking up 150K fire damage from the J line is mostly useless, it doesn't translate to wins. > Most of them don't know how to switch to AP when they really should be switching to AP. > There's so many ways to deal with it, cruisers can juke 20km spam shells and farm it to death, it's an isolated target for a CV, if a DD slips through the cracks it's a free snack, plenty of T10 BBs have enough sustain to close the distance and beat it up. The only annoying thing about Thunderer is there's so goddamn many of them, it's boring seeing 5 on either team, I'm glad the ship is being removed for just this reason.

The first couple times you're shooting borderhumper it does throw off your aim, however once you get used to it, they're the easiest targets to hit for obvious reasons : They are slowed down - They can't change direction. It works in one scenario : You are outnumbered and the ships shooting at you are potatoes.

The most "accurate" DD ranked tier list ever made
COPlUM replied to Mikey626's topic in General Discussion
I disagree with a lot on this chart, Grozovoi and Kitakaze don't belong in C category with Yueyang, Yueyang is garbage-tier. Grozovoi is a B for me, Kitakaze is S. I'd probably put legendary mod grozovoi in the S category too. If you play IFHE/AFT/Rangemod kitakaze to smoke up and farm BBs, then sure, it's a C. If you build kitakaze for short range DPM and use it to rush down and melt DDs, it's an animal, no DD can beat kitakaze in a clean 1v1, win that 1v1 and you're halfway there for winning the game because the enemy team is now blind. Legendary mod grozovoi outguns and outruns almost everything, has competitive concealment, usable torpedoes, the best shell arcs of any destroyer in the game and all the consumables. Very underrated ship because it's so versatile. When two DDs bump into eachother and kite away from eachother as is often the case, Grozovoi can't be beaten, it's just so easy to keep landing those shells, as the distance increases, your opponents effective damage output goes down, yours does not change. Khaba could beat it in theory (barely) but you kill Khaba by just looking at it and watching the shells fly in ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Z-52 rated higher than Grozo, Kita and Shima? kek Halland is an excellent ship but no smoke or radar means it can't be S tier. I do agree with Smaland being in a league of its own, I'll never understand that ship, they beat yueyang to death with the nerfhammer because it can slot radar, meanwhile Smaland has radar and is better than Yueyang ever was by any metric. All of this is also situational, in a CV game, I'd rate both jutland and daring as top picks because they can spam smoke. -
They are not the worst, they have the lowest skill floor and the lowest skill ceiling, they're the opposite of say, british light cruisers, or basically any destroyer. They limit what a good player can do, because it does not have the tools, but they also limit how much a below-average player gets punished. They are essentially battleships with trainer-wheels because mistakes that get you deleted in any other battleship, will only result in a bloody nose. From over-extending and having a near invulnerable citadel, being covered in thiccc plating to having insane hydro that lets you avoid torpedoes with ease. Good player does not need turtleback because he'll rarely show side, does not need hydro because he'll have a good idea of when and where torps will be coming from. Despite all this they can actually carry games in the right hands because they're so goddamn tanky, nothing is harder to deal with on the front line, so like a new player in a German BB will sit in the back and "snipe" (Dreadful accuracy, worst ship to do this with, don't do this in any BB but for the love of god please don't do it in Germans) - A good player that wants to play these ships as intended is on the front line and can single-handedly lock down a cap or crucial area of the map. They also get a bad reputation because they're noob-friendly, new players tend to like them, so if you see someone doing potato things, it's often in a German BB, the ships aren't actually bad. Well the T9 probably really is. Secondary spec Germans were always for-fun builds, they were never actually good, secondary nerf should not affect them in a meaningful way. Even a well played secondary build German was getting the vast majority of the work done with main guns. These main guns get significant buffs with the rework, especially within the ranges where German BBs are most effective.

Colbert : lol Siegfried : Do you like farming overpens? Do you want an already underwhelming ship that's going to be on fire for 20 mins after the rework? Slava : Can't tank, well-played cruisers angle and laugh at you, so what do? Kill broadside potatoes in random, any BB can do that, Slava just makes it easier. All it does is kill broadside campers barely worth killing, it just kills them harder ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Yolo Emilio : It's fun and original, I've seen them carry games with their cool yolo trick, I kinda want one because it's funny. Ohio : Quintessentially the perfect all-round battleship, it does not have Thunderer's accuracy or silly fire chance, but it has so much going for it. It can do everything you should be doing in a BB, tank, sustain, push, stop a push and while no ship has AA, Ohio's AA is about as good as it gets. Winning games in this thing is often as simple as solo-sustaining a 5 man push, giving your team an 11v7 advantage. I love this strategy in any battleship and Ohio does this exceptionally well, simply bait some ships into giving you a 1v5 fight, take the beating like a champ and watch your team steamroll 11v7. If you see your team abandon a cap, you go there.

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?

Remember that, 3km knife-fight, your Gaede with support vs my lightning without support to even the odds, was fun. -
List of untouched/nerfed/gutted unique and enhanced captains in 0.10.0
COPlUM posted a topic in General Discussion
Installed PTS to check this out because nobody seems interested in the effect of 0.10.0 on unique and enhanced captains. May want to adjust some plans you had for unique/enhanced captains. Untouched Swirsky = Untouched Ovechkin = Untouched Rong = Untouched Lutjens = Untouched Honoré = Untouched Halsey = Untouched Doe = Untouched Nerfed Jutland = Loses improved vigilance on 2 ship classes, his enhancement for JOAT is nerfed to 25% over regular instead of 100% and it no longer applies to healing Aubonyeau = Loses SE in battleships but that's probably a good thing lol Yamamoto = Loses expert maintenance on cruisers Kuznetsov = His enhancement for JOAT is nerfed to 25% over regular instead of 100% and it no longer applies to any of the good stuff (radar, hydro, smoke, engine boost, heals) Cunningham = Same nerf to JOAT as Kuznetsov Dunkirk = Same nerf to JOAT as Kuznetsov Completely gutted Znamesky is a regular captain now Loses higher alert and expert maintenance on cruisers, becomes useless in the only class he was useful in Loses higher alert in battleships, the new version of high alert is a -3% cooldown meme, 1 second reduction is a meme in any BB - especially in Russians Loses higher alert in DDs, but that was useless anyway, expert marksman remains useless- 6 replies

I hate quoting myself but I was offered a helpful solution on discord, spawn *just dodge* the torpedoes by turning hard left and showing broadside to a sov sovuz, a stalingrad and a jean bart within 17km, while spotted by torpedo planes. Basically you can avoid losing half your HP by losing all of it
-
Apparently MVR can take away 30K HP from a cruiser in its spawn, before it even managed to accelerate. Since one ship spawning with 2/3rds of his HP missing is apparently a game-feature, I will reverse upon spawning from this day forward, so someone else can be the "lucky boy" to spawn dead. I'm never moving forward again in a cruiser, spawn and reverse, until someone else loses 2/3 of his HP, then I'll start playing.

My pleasure, Georgia was a no-brainer for me, no regrets on getting the ship. Every time I play poorly I know it's my fault, not a limitation on the ship. Thunderer is powerful but just looks boring. Pommern looks fun but is situational. Georgia does well at all ranges. My favorite build is classic tank build, don't build for secondaries, but do get secondary battery mod in slot 3. That gets your secondaries up to 9.4km which is plenty to make DDs sod off and spam fires while you're fighting something up-close. It has the massa secondaries but it doesn't rely on them to be good like massa, they're extra. The speed of it takes some getting used to, it's a curse when you tend to misposition, because when you do 40kt you misposition hard. It's a blessing if you use it to get into a good position.

Both, he was fighting blyska and akizuki in a T6, a miracle was required

Yesterday I played great but couldn't get a win if I murdered half the enemy team, broke my losing-streak record, stopped counting at 15 losses. Today I'm playing average, not great, 9 wins in a row. It's as if matchmaker knows hey we really screwed this guy yesterday lets give him a break.
-
I agree, in any battleship, except for slava, still, it's rewarded in Thunderer, 20km is the only place where Thunderer outperforms other 457 T10s. If you're going to play it at a normal range, get any other 457 T10
-
Many people dont want a Thunderer because sitting at 24km is boring and/or because it became the most spammed ship in T10. OP, I just played my Georgia because of this topic, used speed to isolate myself on the map with what I thought was one full HP minnesota - Speed : Georgia does 20kt in reverse, minnesota does 23kt going forward, so I started reversing when I noticed it was not 1 but 2 minnesotas - My 4X457mm front guns on a 25s reload were putting out roughly the same damage as their combined 12X406mm front guns on a 40s reload - Accuracy : My shells were going exactly where I wanted them to go, they were bouncing a lot - My heal reloads twice as fast. - They had a smoked up gearing behind them farming me, I had to blindfire that guy before I even started shooting the minnesotas Can't think of any other T9 BB that can do this, don't let the 6 guns put you off, accuracy more than makes up for it
-
Pommern = Brawling and locking down positions, unstoppable if it gets in your face. Pommern sitting next to an island in a cap circle is an immovable object with 12 derp guns. Georgia = Damn thing does 39.5kt, 6 laser-accurate massive caliber guns, you can get in positions nobody expects, but instead of 240mm HenriIV shells coming from that weird spot nobody was expecting, it's 457mm american AP. Both cool ships, people tend to disrespect pommern for the same reason they disrespect other German battleships : Some people insist on playing their battleships from max range and while this is dumb in anything other than a Thunderer or a Slava, it is exceptionally dumb in Germans because derp long range accuracy.

Dakka Do you have enough? If you said yes. You need more dakka.
-
If you're playing crappy T6s/T7s with crappy commanders because you're just grinding through a line for T10, yes, struggle is real. But if you have high level captains in T6s/T7s that handle bottom tier well, some can actually be fun.
-
Jervis outspots akizuki by 100m or something because akizuki can slot conceal module, not enough to outspot it. Fighting an akizuki in a jervis is rough. Other than approaching a smoked up akizuki with hydro, you're pretty much shlt out of luck in a jervis :p
-
Flamu just did a vid where he builds a Vermont for AA with the new skill system and it couldn't prevent drops from a T8 CV. They don't want you stopping planes, for the same reason CVs can't flood, can't detonate and can't burn. And yet there's still people here "B...b..but what if I take BFT on my jervis"
-
I'll put AA in numbers to help you understand why it's placebo : Your icarus does 70 damage per second to planes over 2km, the planes need to be in your 2km zone for about 3 seconds to strike you, you're doing 210 damage to the planes every time they strike you for 5K. One plane at T6 has about 1500HP, you don't need to kill one plane to stop a squadron from repeatedly striking you for 5K, you need to kill the entire squadron to make it stop. A CV could zig zag his squadron over your DD for fun the entire duration of the match without striking you and you still wouldn't have killed the planes by the end of the match, that's how pointless talking about AA is so stop doing it lol.
-
British DDs are unironically the only ship in the game with AA. They can spam smoke when they see the planes coming their way. This forces the CV to go get their free kill somewhere else because they don't want to wait around for 45 seconds. You can't shoot down planes obviously but nobody can. If you spam smoke two or three times the CV knows you're willing to do it six times and he'll just kill another DD instead. AA is not a thing, destroying airplanes is not a thing, you need to understand it's placebo, forget it is a thing, the only way to survive planes in a DD is blowing your smokes, Brits have 6 of them, your icarus has 2X more AA than T10 non-uk DDs, your icarus has infinitely better AA than a Halland, minotaur or Montana, these ships have placebo AA guns, you have smoke.

The evening got progressively worse, I was at 18 losses and 2 wins at some point, late in the night I started winning again, today I'm getting some decent matchmaking. Yesterdays bad luck with matchmaking was so bad I went from being annoyed and frustrated to just laughing at what was happening to me. Thank god for matchmaking monitor so I at least knew it wasn't my fault or I'd have lost my mind, I was very much getting screwed repeatedly. All red vs all purple, all night, disgusting.
-
I did 12 losses in a row today, topped the scoreboard in most of them, the best winrate team I had was 41,75% - 12 sets of camos and signals wasted at no fault of my own. My 13th game I had a decent team but my internet cut out, when I logged back in we won, I got 200 base XP so I bashed my modem on the wall and broke it. I know it's RNG but matchmaker needs some kind of fail-safe against being in full potato teams an entire day.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
COPlUM replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
3 below average players, not terrible, sat too far back (2X monarch and a yorck) last 3 remaining ships against an overwhelming force but we were ahead on points with 4 mins remaining. I told them exactly what they needed to do to win - Yorck sail across the map and bully DD out of A cap with hydro and 2X monarch set up defensive positions at B cap. We won with 1 point difference running out the clock with a mostly dead Yorck running for his life. I was stacking signals for the +200% bonus, ran the math and figured hey - who knows, maybe they'll listen to me.
