Yes, almost as bad as suicide, not what I meant friend

I like using radar as an example because it's simple and does a great job of explaining why this advice is so important. -At T7 there's 3 radar ships with what, 8km range? 20 second duration? All 3 of them are premiums, they're pretty rare, and yet even one of them has incredible impact on T7 games. -At T10 does anyone even know how many radar ships there are? 12km range short duration, 10km long duration, 12km long duration. There's often six radars on each team. You played 50 tier 7 DD games, your stats indicate you never got used to playing around a single belfast, but you're stinking up five hundred T10 games dying in shima/halland trying to play around half a dozen nevsky's and Des Moines. It's like my daughter just started to walk and I ship her to the olympics to try and break Usain Bolt's record. She can try, bless her for trying, but she'll just stand there and eat her boogers. I'm saying it like this because I truly wish someone was this blunt to me a year ago when I was ruining hundreds of T10 games in my Grozovoi, I literally ruined thousands of people's evening because I made them try to win impossible games. You suck, go back to T5, you'll enjoy T10 so much more if you don't skip tiers. If you insist on playing top tier when you're not ready, please don't do it in a destroyer, you're punishing 11 other people on your team over and over again because your little boat decides who wins and you don't know how to play it. If you want to be a top tier potato, do it in a battleship, at least your team still has a chance that way.
-
My simple but flawless plan for ranked 1) Facts first! Team with the least suicidal destroyers wins 2) Play a destroyer, so my team has at least one non-suicidal destroyer
-
> God damnit everyone is a potato, I hate it. > God damnit this one guy isn't really a potato and managed to trade with me You know you have to pick one ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-
Dude look at your own stats, there's two ways to beat you. -Your team is horrible, the enemy team is not. -There's at least one OK player on the enemy smart enough to realize you're about to mess everyone up, willing to trade and just about capable enough to trade. You'd be so bored without me, hugs & wubs
-
I'm with Forlorn on this, you'd be condemning good players to always carry, the better you are, the harsher the punishment. Now matchmaker is truly random, it is flawed, but every game is new, sometimes you have to carry, sometimes it's well balanced, sometimes you get carried. If you crave some games where skill is mostly balanced, wargaming just gave that to you, play the new ranked stuff. You'll find the occasional potato that somehow stumbled his way up with lucky teams but it is mathematically rare, he would have to flip a coin 50 times and land tail every time getting carried.

Often, it's anecdotal but over the last two or three months there's days where I set out to practice these type of plays and I get 15+ game winning streaks in which I end bottom 3 on the scoreboard but feel I had a large impact on the outcome. When you're zoning people out or baiting them, five minutes goes by so quick in this game, you just bought your team a five minute 2:1 numerical advantage. Like when there's a lemming train, I will literally drive my DD in the opposite direction, even if I'm the only one, I don't care, I'm just about skilled enough to survive the situation for at least 5 minutes, that's at least 5 minutes I'm spoofing half the enemy team into thinking that flank is contested, when they could just crush me like a bug. It's a mind game, they don't want to be the unlucky one eating my torps. I just got 600 base xp and 2 torp hits, but I also bought my team five minutes of 12v6, so I won. I think a lot more people do this type of stuff than you (or I) realize, perhaps unconsciously.
-
I do actually sometimes make a conscious decision to trade my ship for a super-unicum on the other team but only if A) His stats are unbelievable B) Killing him appears to be the only way to give my team a chance C) I'm in the right ship for the job Example : 79% WR jutland, I'm a 60% WR kitakaze player, I will rush him down and trade, because a well played kitakaze can trade 1v1 with a super unicum jutland. I know it's not very nice and it's only happened maybe ten times but hey, all is fair in love and war, and world of warships.

Spilled my coffee on that one, jerk. My wife has to clean this up you know

Because, contrary to what many tell themselves so they don't cry themselves to sleep at night, the game gets progressively harder as you go up the tiers, you can clearly see with each tier your stats are worse than the tier before. When you go up a tier, your winrate takes a hit, this applies to everyone, you went up too many tiers too quickly so your winrate takes a hammering when you play those higher tiers, you skipped content, you skipped a big chunk of the learning process. I hate to break it to you but 44% at T9 does not mean you're 6% worse than average, 44% means you're so useless that you, despite being only one ship on a team of twelve, manage to reduce the chances of winning for your team by 12% (the difference between 44 and 56) I know this because last year my stats looked exactly like yours when I had about 1800 games, I took a step back, realized "I do not belong in T9/T10" and started fresh. I listened to someone, don't remember who, might have actually been Colonelpete. Play T5 until you're consistently one of the best players on your team, then move up to T6, repeat all the way up to T10. I was 45% WR last year, now i've enjoyed around 60% solo WR at T9/T10 for the last one thousand games or so. Please take the advice, I didn't want to hear it either -I'm not that bad, I can learn in high tier- Yes you are, you really are that bad and no you can't, you can't learn at high tier, you'll just make the same mistakes over and over, getting your a$$ kicked repeatedly doesn't let you learn anything. I did what you do until I was tired of getting my shlt kicked in and listened to this advice, I've been enjoying the game far more since and my stats are going up at an almost humorous pace.

Sorry, you're wrong. If you want to brute-force a win, there's ways to do it that will result in being bottom of the leaderboard. Examples : -Bait half the enemy team into chasing your tanky battleship, give your team a silly numerical advantage for half the game. You'd be shocked how often you get five or six enemy ships to take the bait, not just take the bait, deepthroat it. Base XP? Very little. -Zone out a silly number of enemy ships to give your team a silly numerical advantage. I've had Hindenburg games where I managed to position an island between myself and half enemy team, it took 10 mins for one of them to realize what I was doing lead a push, call my bluff. Base XP? None! -I've had DD games where I managed to box in five battleships in the corner of the map, herding them if you will, like sheep, into the corner. I didn't kill them, they didn't see me, they were spotted and they knew I was there, so they let me box them in. Base XP? Nothing. That's 3 examples of games I won, because I gave my team a 12v6, in all 3 of these examples I was complimented by several people, people texted me asking if I'm a wizard (I'm not, you can just do this type of stuff with potatoes) In all 3 of these games I came in last on the leaderboard. A line of code cannot evaluate what I did in these games, the only way would be for a live audience to evaluate it, a referee of sorts. A kleber speedboosting all over the map drawing fire can be of incredible value to the team, base XP? Nothing.

Yes, but not everyone wants to be mcdonalds, being mcdonalds means a board of directors, shareholders, a PR department. I run a business, I could grow it, not interested, I've actively avoided growing my business. My board of directors is my wife, my shareholders are my kids and I know the birthday of everyone working for me because it's six guys. Big isn't always better, I get to sleep at night. Perhaps wargaming is perfectly content with their current size, operational cost and profit.

I'd honestly be happy if they would just examine the bro wtf scenarios with CVs. T3s facing double CVs bro wtf A single T6 DD facing double T6/T8 CV bro wtf Not even the most dedicated defender of CVs in the entire dead-horse discussion will keep a straight face if you ask him what a Guépard is supposed to do in a match with a Ryujo and a Kaga chasing him. They'll just say "Oh yeah? Well you can just stick with the battleships" Right, so like, sail around a bit, don't play your ship, thanks genius. If they examined the excesses, situations where it is truly unfair, a lot of the hate would simply go away. I don't expect them to balance CVs because El2aZeR exists and he can butcher 4 DDs in 4 mins, there's a handful like him on the server, it's impressive but statistically irrelevant. -

My comments were actually deleted from the "60% WR only, plebs get banned" topic, obviously moderators did not enforce demands by OP, so I'm genuinely curious how my jokes get deleted. They were pretty good jokes too, a damn shame. -

Exactly, out you go, this is a 50% WR only club, a meat and potatoes establishment, no elitism here. Can we please do seperate waterfountains for 40%WR 50% and 60%? -

I got $10 on the donald trump guy, it's hilarious. "Hey guys, is Baltimore a good ship? Also here's a picture of Donald Trump, please tell me you also hate him, he's smelly and stinky and orange and bad" -
Wouldn't work. The score at the end of the game is pretty much (not exactly) but pretty much a leaderboard for how much damage you did, percentage wise, it doesn't even differentiate between permanent damage and damage that 'buffs out' with a repair party. Your idea would exclude, among other things, battleships that delay a push to give their team numerical advantage, it would also exclude destroyers that contest caps and spot. Your idea would, quite literally, exclude people that win you games. Starting 14 single fires people don't even bother to put out doesn't win games, it gives you a ton of base XP. The BB that's baiting five ships into giving up map control is winning games, the DD that's zoning out BBs and grabbing caps is winning games, they don't get base xp, because they don't care, they're just there to win. Your idea would result in more derp stuff like a DD smoking up behind a cruiser, using dying cruisers as meatshield spotters, wasting a cruiser's healthpool to get some damage in, when he could have just smoked up his cruiser, spot for him and get more damage done without throwing away a cruiser. So like, I'm not spotting anything with your idea, if the game wants me to stop winning and get base XP instead, I'll do that. See the problem? Using base XP as a metric would make everyone even less interested in winning.

No, what are you talking about, it's been a great day, so much going on. -We got a "Moderators, i'll find anyone with less than 60% winrate, please ban them for me" topic. -And we got this, a pointless (but wholesome!) blue collar alternative to that topic. -And we got Humorpalanta, as per usual, desperately attempting to randomly inject his dislike for Donald Trump into topics about digital battleships, won't somebody PLEASE talk about the donald? Here's a picture of Trump, he's bad and he's orange and also very bad, but mostly orange. -We need BeastOfWar back, I want another topic about how dodging torpedoes is cheating and should be against game rules, where is that guy? God I love this place -
Tech tree suggestion to increase player count in tier II-IV
COPlUM replied to Figment's topic in General Discussion
It's supposedly mitigated by new players being in some kind of protected matchmaking, I wonder if I screwed that up by divisioning with them to show them around? If so, this is unfortunate, as an existing player bringing along new players would be (should be?) the best way for wargaming to get new fans. Either way, even if you or me drop down to T4, we can't do anything about planes, nobody can. I think I played Isokaze, just checked, it has 7 AA DPS. Planes have how much HP at that tier? Couple thousand at least. How long would it take an Isokaze to stop a squadron of planes, 10 minutes? What's that? 40 strikes? 50? I just don't get this. It's like "Hey CV, you get 40 attempts to kill this dude, if you screw it up 40 times, don't you worry, just grab some new planes" How much hand-holding do they need -
Sure, up to 8 million for fortnite, but with that comes much higher cost to keep the game running and less spending per user. If you sell 1 million cheeseburgers and make 5 cents a piece, I sell 100.000 gourmet burgers and make 50 cents a piece, we both made 50K, but you had to make ten times more burgers for your 50K.

Tech tree suggestion to increase player count in tier II-IV
COPlUM replied to Figment's topic in General Discussion
How about start with giving low tier ships some AA ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Low tiers should be an introduction to the game, planes don't die quick at higher tiers but they do die, at T4 they literally can't die lol. The gentlemen I introduced to wows this year were playing T4s, streaming it and going "Reeee when do the planes stop" - They're my friends, I have to be honest, I said they don't die, they can't die, not at this tier. They laughed and played dota instead. People can argue about CVs at high tiers all day and night, it's all very interesting but at T4 it's not really an argument, planes are god, ships are target practice. I personally don't care because I don't play T4 but having one class be god and everything else be vermin seems like a poor introduction to an otherwise wonderful videogame. They also started at a rather unfortunate time, around the time of german cv launch when missions made you play them, there was like 250 wesers in queue and 5 ships that weren't a weser. -
This graph is concurrent players overtime on one platform, steam isn't even their main platform, their launcher is. These numbers are high, they are going up and revenue per user for games like this is typically very high. The game is doing great, as is every other form of entertainment you can enjoy from home - for obvious reasons.
