Huh, interesting, didn't actually know this. Obviously divisioning up boosts your winrate dramatically if you're even remotely competenent, but I figured bad players would also benefit because it allows them to gank and/or coordinate. Why does it not? Is it because if 3 not-so-great players division, one quarter of their team being not-very-good is guaranteed?

Ranked battles CV toxic/unsportsmanlike behaviour.
COPlUM replied to Rage_Unchained's topic in General Discussion
People can't really answer this for you, you have to decide if reporting it is worth your time, last week I had a CV bomb his own ship in ranked. I've seen a DD spawn, do a U-turn and glide over the J line border laughing at how we will lose because he's not playing. Ironically, I won both. Best you can hope for is many people report him and he gets a ban. But he already trolled you once, reporting him takes 10 mins of your day filing a complaint and uploading a replay, to me this feels like I'm letting him troll me twice. I tend to ignore it because people doing this are almost certainly not-very-good and if the other team has one not-very-good player, the match is balanced. He might also just be drunk, I'm kinda drunk now but I just do lame jokes when I'm drunk. -
Cat's out of the bag now, might as well spill the beans. This is video of @ForlornSailor performing self flagellation. In our religion, it's when we whip ourselves in front of a mirror to repent for 3 losses in a row. Trust me, you don't want to know what we do for 5 losses.

So their monetization model is both disgraceful AND something they haven't actually ever done, how can this be? And how do they keep the lights on?

There is no denying this man the truth now, he knows of the holy scripture. Who told you of our church, infidel?

Thanks for the trigger-warning, thanks for thinking of the children.

You 27 minutes ago. How many drinks have you consumed this evening?

I'm jealous, wish I made a topic like this a year ago and got this many brutally honest answers. My potato days would have been over sooner You're one lucky potato. Good luck sir, and godspeed!

Yes, we were, and you mentioned wargaming releases overpowered ships for cash to pay the bills, I am asking you to tell me what ship that is - so I can go buy it. Surely if this is how they pay the bills, you can name one. If anything, recent premiums have been underwhelming, I'm sitting on a pile of doubloons I don't need - because I'm still waiting for a good new premium.
-
OK but then what are you talking about? What ship was released in, say 2020, for money, in an overpowered or broken state. I genuinely don't know but have disposable income and would like to pay to win, please tell me what to buy.

My penne is bigger then yours: The Paolo Emilio appreciation thread
COPlUM replied to Mad_Dog_Dante's topic in General Discussion
Doubt. I'll have you know my penne is a respectable 2 and a half inches. -
What a helpful community, honest good cop/bad cop advice and people reaching out offering to analyze replays. We're too good for this world. Well not me, obviously. But everyone else, so sweet.

idk what to tell you other than i disagree, I always have premium time active but rarely buy premium ships. Recently got alaska, georgia and ohio, 3 ships with incredible carrying potential $0,00 - Their monetization is exactly what you'd expect from a company that wants the free-to-play crowd but is not desperate. Premiums are expensive and entirely optional.
-
No, just no. Some of the best ships in the game are tech tree ships, some of the best premiums are freemiums, as long as this is the case, their model is fair. Making optional things expensive is not milking. They sell cool stuff, you don't need it, want it? Pay up, it's expensive.

Yes, this is how economics actually works. I played mechwarrior online for ages, still do sometimes, constant discounts and freebies because game is on its deathbed and has been for years. MWO developers are literally on youtube begging people to come play their game again. Meanwhile wargaming is charging $50 for a ship, because they can, plenty of people want it. Source : Economist. Not that you need to be one to figure this out

People tend to just not do their job in Germans and it's a shame because the ships are cool. Ships have roles, you have a job. Petro is supposed to sit there deny an area, he's trying. Des moines is supposed to make caps and everything around caps and islands a deathtrap, he's trying. Hindenburg has one job, racking up damage numbers, shoot anything and everything, make stalingrad back off, he's trying. Daring is supposed to get the caps ticking for your team, he's trying. NC is supposed to appear out of nowhere and bring 406mm of good times to your doorstep. Some ships have multiple roles, Alaska's strength is it can be a crappy Des Moines or a crappy North Carolina depending on what the team needs. Your job is recognize when and where your team needs to push, not be a pussy and lead the charge. Team knows you picked the ship for this job, but you are trying to burn people to death, that's Conqueror's job, or trying to get broadsides from stupid ranges, that's Slava's job. Do yours. It's a good way to farm karma because people aren't used to seeing Germans do their job, I burn all my compliments on Germans doing their job.
-
Players that are playing at an appropriate tier also get losing streaks because : Bad luck => Frustration => Bad play. You fix this by taking a break or playing a ship that never fails to put a smile on your face. If you play enough you'll find at least one.
-
This picture, do that, get in these situations, on purpose. Nothing else can survive this and blow out several ships before going down. But don't telegraph the fact that you are coming, people will barbeque you along the way. Use islands, not to sit behind them, but to hide your approach, islands are a tool to suddenly appear at arms length of an enemy ship, two or three enemy ships if you want, you can take it. When you do this, people will either follow you or, at the very least, the ships you're brawling will be hard-spotted and focused entirely on dealing with you, because you're not giving them a choice, i.e, they'll be broadside to a lot of your teammates. Do this and the people that tend to laugh at German battleships, this includes me, will go "wtf I love german BBs now" - Nobody cares about 140K fire damage because you got 12 single fires from the J line, you may as well not have spawned in that game. People care you rushed two cruisers and did 90K for two kills, you traded 2 for 1.

I was real tempted to get pommern because filthy when done right, but went with Georgia. I'm mostly happy I did but sometimes its ehhhh, I wish I could do that.
-
They are both, floating trash cans because people sit at the back with them, they're terrible at this so people laugh. But sometimes there's a Pommern on your team that recognizes where and when to push, realizes he's the best ship for the job and the ships around him just sort of go "Fck yeah lets do it" - When Germans do this and do it right, they win games and make games fun. Game I was in last weekend, don't remember what ship I was in, Baltimore I think, Alaska maybe, 2 russian BBs had a flank locked down, pommern on my team wasn't having it, he pushed in, rushed one down, devastating strike with torpedoes, the other one he just brawled to death. We charged in behind him, took care of the spammers and DDs. They're split personality ships, people either laugh at you or follow you wherever you go because Germans can steamroll a flank if they have the balls to do it and teammates willing to follow them. You'll probably go down first, but who cares, you just crushed a flank.
-
Exactly, complaining about secondary German BB nerf is complaining that a meme-build became a slightly less funny meme (possibly) - Normal German BB builds should be stronger with the rework. You'll be on fire less and BBs will put out more damage witthin the range where German BBs are especially comfy. The complaint is a non-issue, a secondary build isn't your main build, people have a second captain laying around for that when they feel like having a laugh. Your ship is about being capable of taking a beating like nobody else (up close anyway) fast turret traverse, the fact that you can bully anything sitting in smoke too long. Think of German BBs as the spearhead, you lead the charge. The best way to play them is the opposite of how you often see them played. Your job is to take a beating and force people back because you're not stopping. So often you see German BBs try to do the right thing and lead the charge, but then they're on fire, they do a U-turn, run away and get farmed to death as they run away, stop running away, you're a joke far away, people poop their pants when you get in their face. You're unstoppable if you lead the charge with people following you, and if you actually push, people really will follow, tell them you're willing to take the beating if they come with.
-
I know what they do and I know hitting them is trippy, I'm saying it stops being trippy once you get used to it. Once you get used to it, what they're doing makes them the most predicatable and thus easiest targets to hit. I don't feel it's a valid complaint because there really is a way to beat someone doing it. And the thing is, if someone does this and you smack them a couple of times, because you got used to it, they can't escape, getting out of the map border is more annoying than shooting someone in the map border. When you go there your ship becomes a brick, and the brick is covered in glue.

Not really, pvp, there's inherent imbalance, someone out there is Liverpool, you're Everton, I'm West Brom, I'll certainly try, who knows, might get lucky, the people you're talking about are Plymouth Argyle, you're five steps ahead. But it's really the appeal of a game like this, you get beat and you look for ways to improve, hopefully. As long as someone's trying to git gudder, it's all good, I'm only sad when I see something like 20.000 games and no sign of improvement, because what are you doing, that's enough time to get a law degree, five times, you should have learned something on the way.

ENUF! Please, no more. I demand you stop speaking, think of the children.
