I've been mostly laughing at all the deadeye outrage because it's 90% potatoes sitting on the J line with a GK, but I changed my mind, smarter people are finding ways to actually abuse this skill in division. I played sovietsky soyuz yesterday : -Spawn -Plane spotted, planes are between 6km &10km away so they spot me but I can't shoot them. -2 Rangemod deadeye Thunderers stacking triple fires on me in my spawn -I burned to death before I reached the nearest cover Soyuz has a theoretical range of 19km, a realistic range of 14km, they were burning me to death with god-tier accuracy from 28km. It's not possible to push into two HE spamming thunderers to close 14km distance before returning fire, that's five minutes of triple fires. If it's a division doing this in a coordinated way, you don't even have time to spawn & get into the nearest cover before burning to death. I want to defend wargaming, I often do because I unironically like them, but I can't defend this design, it's completely retarded, it allows 3 coordinated guys to burn all the battleships to death before the match even started.

    Shooting teammates is never OK but some context : Destroyers have the most critical role in the battle, if you aren't good at playing them, such as this, leaving your flank and wandering off, you are condemning every ship behind you to 5-10 minutes of retreating, doing no damage and dying. You're also just basically throwing the game. So everyone behind you knew the moment you turned out, this game is almost certainly lost and they won't even be able to farm some damage in the loss. Knowing the game is lost after 20 seconds is not fun. Most people look at you after 20 seconds, shrug and think "Ok this is a loss, better luck next time" - Some people may be having a bad day in real life or warships and shoot you in frustration. You're pretty much condemning 11 other people on your team to a loss doing this, so there is context, but that doesn't make it right. If you're still new to and/or bad at the game and you don't want to ruin everyone else's experience over and over again, play a battleship or a long range HE spam cruiser (Germans/Russians) Bad players is one thing, bad players in destroyers is an entirely different thing, you are condemning everyone on your team to 20 minutes of getting farmed and losing the moment you spawn, so yes, people will get frustrated, and some people can't cope with frustration.

    Guide is near-perfect for most DDs and is pretty much how I set up my DDs but there's some exceptions to these rules. Examples : Extra-Heavy AP Shells is a 5% DPS buff for 2 skillpoints on jutland and daring. Because these two have magical AP and should actually use it (and they out-dpm kitakaze + harugumo when they do, yes, really) Main Battery & AA Expert and Superintendent are worth it on Grozovoi I argue IFHE is never worth it, not even on japanese 100mms, penetrating bow & stern on some BBs isn't worth handicapping your ship when fighting anything else. Spending 4 points on radio isn't worth it for potatoes because they don't know what to do with it. Everyone else? Spend the 4 points.

    Russian DDs? They're so OP the last time you have seen anyone play them was 2016. Russian BBs? Sure, very OP if they get close, don't let them get close? Lets not pretend ships are ever within 14km of eachother anymore. Russian CAs? Sure, very OP if they get close and you give them broadside, trash in every other scenario. Russian CLs? Mediocre HE spammers, ooh, scary. Meanwhile Giulio Cesare, Belfast, Musashi, T-61 and Massa continue to not be Russian so nobody cares.

    Some people actively avoid winning rounds, match I was in just now : Enemy team winning on points, one minute remaining, their last ship was a Skane with 400HP. Our last ship was a full HP Z-46 - They bump into eachother, the Z-46 turns around without even shooting and runs away. He literally had to click left mouse button once for the win.

    AA builds are viable again (sort of) on some ships. AA went from completely useless on every ship in the game to kinda useful on some ships if specced for it. That's all I wanted from a rework.
  13. The rework is fine and you are crying for nothing, what I'm pointing out is a very specific scenario of CV + Double thunderer focusing a Russian BBs. The odds of this happening is 1/1000

    Just 2 weeks ago some people said it would be funny if we could hear shikishima guns across the map, considering the ship itself isn't that great, it's a meme-ship, collectors get it and people love the sound of its guns. Couple days later hearing shikishima across the map was in the patch, there's $0,00 in this for weegee. They just thought it was a cool idea and did it. You have to call balls and strikes. The santa crate thing was next level cringe, they corrected it. Thunderer spam isn't funny anymore, they're ending it. AA doing basically nothing even on ships built for AA is one of the things the rework actually fixed.

    Kremlin is still a beast but more than other ships she's struggling now because planes and the relentless spam of rangemod thunderer HE. You can't do anything, you run out of damagecon trying to survive, your AA is torn to shreds and you barely get to shoot anything with your pathetic range. Forget about her for awhile, until rangemod thunderer deadeye spam calms down a bit. It's not the Hindy's by the way, Hindy's can't touch you since IFHE rework, it's thunderer. It will calm down, the ship is being removed, people won't get new thunderers and people who have her will get tired of it and play some other stuff eventually. You'll still see thunderers 6 months from now but not 6-10 of them in every game.

You get reported for : - Playing a CV, regardless of how you play it (by everyone) - Being bad (by your team) - Being good (by the enemy team for beating them) - Being too good (by bad players on your team who think you're playing bad because they don't understand what you're doing) Just today I got reported 3 times for getting 4 kitakaze kills because the enemy team was salty. I was reported twice for kiting away from a daring, a hindenburg and a yamato in a vladivostok - Killed the yamato, crippled the hindy and kept the daring busy for 15 mins driving circles dodging torps with what little HP I had left. Two potatoes said I was a coward for "running away" (= blapping two T10 ships and keeping a T10 DD busy for 15 mins) I was almost teamkilled and reported by a 39% winrate minotaur in my Alaska because I left my flank to take care of 2 DDs, he simply didn't understand that what I was doing was necessary and why. I was reported for "dying too fast" in a sov soyuz, when actually everyone else left my flank and I made a conscious decision to delay 7 ships while the rest of my team won their 11v5 and took map control. You even get reported by your own team for carrying them because they're angry they didn't get to kill anything.

    T7 DDs is the roughest thing there is, because you're heavily outspotted and outgunned by everything else, it's supposed to be one or the other. The only T7 DD that does bottom tier OK is Gadjah Mada - she's not the best in T7 ranked and CB (still decent) - but because it has Jervis firepower and forward firing angles, you can actually beat a T8 if you have the balls and skills to charge him - It can also spend 420 seconds (seven minutes) in smoke, that's annoying for any cruiser and battleship, doesn't matter they're 2 tiers higher.

    Also this isn't a bad thing, one of the best things about warships is the quest to collect good ships with good captains for specific jobs. Some ships handle bottom tier and random battles well, some dominate their own tier and handle ranked well. Some are really good in Randoms but poop in clan battles and vice versa. Some do well in small maps, some do well in large maps. When people go through the trouble of getting the correct ship for specific content, training up a captains tailored for these ships, practicing in them and understanding when to play it, they should be rewarded by just having a straight up better ship in that situation than someone else who is just playing whatever. So like when when it's time for T7 ranked small maps, don't hate on people running sinop, they anticipated and prepped for this, you did not. When it's time for 1v1 T10, don't hate on people playing GK, that's the one situation where their ship is actually amazing. When it's time for 3v3 T9, don't hate on pommern, they picked it over a Georgia for those games (or because they derp)

    For randoms nelson > sinop because she's still really powerful in T7 and bottom tier it can spam HE and zombie heal, Sinop can't do anything really in T9. In T7 ranked, small maps, Sinop is king and everyone else is a filthy peasant, they must all bow to the might of the soviet union.

    People are making fun because you seem to draw a lot of conclusions from a 2 day winning streak. I mean look, here, my winrate doubled yesterday wtf I love rework now. I had a rough day thursday, I had a good day yesterday. That's almost certainly what you're experiencing, because everyone does.

    Ranked event as good as ever.

    Playing a DD is the only way to carry consistently for a decent player. Carrying in a cruiser or a battleship you need to be way more than decent. Because you have to kill everyone fast to offset your DD being dead (=no map control, no vision, no caps) There's a reason everyone with half a brain shoots DDs whenever they're spotted, there's a reason people say "Good job" when you win your DD vs DD duel but nobody cares if you win your BB vs BB duel. People either consciously or subconsciously know this is world of whoever has a competent DD wins. For maximum consistency, play a DD that can win 1v1, one that doesn't rely on team to beat the other DD, so don't bring a kagero, keeping the other guy spotted is irrelevant if your team won't shoot it.

    One of the biggest hero to zero ship went back to hero with the rework. North Carolina. Was a hero because big scary accurate guns, best AA and concealment. Sneak up on people and blap them with 406mm american freedom-delivery shells. Then it went to zero because carriers started laughing at N.Carolina's AA, no more sneaking up on anything. Now NC's AA is actually scary again with full AA build so carriers leave you alone after one attempt, it can sneak up on other ships again. She's real fun now. There's so many hero to zero ships, Khaba, poor thing, the only thing keeping it alive was speed, 45kt these days is nothing with all the russian 1000m/s velocity guns. Shimakaze, her big thing was concealment, to quote flamu "These days, carriers take your biggest strength, concealment, they wrap it up in a convenient dildo shaped form and stick concealment up your a$$" Hindenburg is another one, that ship gave up everything to be tanky. Slow, fat, spotted from the moon, virtually no utility at high tier. But with all the 457s overmatching every pixel of that ship, these days, it gives up everything for a vague memory of being tanky. We have new heroes now
