Yesterday a Vermont on my team asked our CV to please stop spotting the shimakaze because it was messing with his deadeye. I died a little inside

Yes but a team with potato BBs has a decreased chance of winning. Team with potato DDs has no chance of winning. Anyway, I got the answer I was looking for. Dead and/or potato DDs = Turn around, kite away and pad your damage numbers in what is an inevitable loss. I was doing this, it's what people told me to do, I guess I just hate the fact that a match is supposed to last 20 mins and many are lost after 90 seconds. Part of the game I guess. I would like barrier to entry for playing destroyers, because if you play them and you're bad at it, everyone else on your team is doomed. I'm reasonably good in them and put in my best effort whenever I play them, because I know how screwed everyone else is if I screw up. My first 500 T10 battles was being a potato in a grozovoi without CE, now I'm 4.000 battles in and I realize I wasted 500X11=5.500 people 10-20mins of their lives.

We need a new command by the way "I do not need intelligence data" - I'm seeing more and more battleships asking their CV to please stop spotting DDs because spotting the DDs messes with their deadeye. Potatoes in deadeye BBs now actually think spotting DDs is a bad thing because it messes with their deadeye. So like "Who cares I'm about to be devastated by torpedoes, I want 10% improved dispersion damnit!"

    Dead Eye

Uh, kinda. It makes good players better because they're shooting from just outside their own concealment range. It makes bad players worse because they back up too much and because bad dispersion is the reason they were getting a citadel hit sometimes. A poor player benefits from bad dispersion.

    General CV related discussions.

Four T8 CVs in a T6 game casually got fifteen kills in one match

I know CVs can basically brute-force wins by killing the red DDs and technically playing CV is an answer to my question but. Come on Friends

I mean it's an arcade video game, battleships didn't have health bars in real life either Ships didn't get faster reload because they lost some HP in 1939 lol

OK my match just now, the match is still going on but this is how it went for me (Chapayev, bottom tier, no CV T9/T10 game) : 1) Both teams have one DD, our DD was hidden profile potato yugumo, enemy DD was a below average yugumo. 2) Our yugumo goes for middle cap, I spawn on C cap so I go B to support the potato DD. 3) Our potato DD dies "contesting" B-cap before I even get there, sails right into it and explodes. 4) My team starts running away, mentally prepared to lose the game and farm damage, because that's what I always see people do when your DDs are dead. 5) I think to myself "The team with the DD always wins" so I do a suicide charge into half the enemy team, the entire enemy team if you count their sniping BBs, I pop radar and shoot the enemy Yugumo while I'm getting pummeled. I die to battleship guns but I do take out their yugumo with my last shot. My team is winning, looks like, it's pretty close, looks like a win. Is doing this normal? Should I be doing this? *edit yeah it's a win. But does doing this make sense? Literally throw your ship away in the 3rd minute for a chance to kill the enemy DD.
  9. Different for everyone, here's how I spend mine Premium time to build up a small fleet of good ships with proper captains, my first goal was one good DD one good CA and one good BB at every tier (5+) If your fleet gets too big too quick, your ships will have bad captains. For premium ships, do your homework, buy best ones. Doing so, you always have a good ship of any class in any tier for any content (ranked or clan battles) After that you can grind out more T10 ships, even if you don't really want the T10, because you get a supercontainer every summer for each T10 you have.

Some math genius on reddit calculated what deadeye actually does, when you're sitting at 20km, you have the dispersion you would have had if you were sitting at 17,6km - If people knew that they wouldn't give up a heal and/or fire prevention for it. The skill itself isn't that great, it's OK on battleships with decent concealment if you play just outside your concealment range. The issue with deadeye is not the skill itself, it's people's zombie response to it : Must use deadeye - Must give enemy team 100% map control - Must hug border - Brains - Eat brains
  11. COPlUM

    Dead Eye

That's not because of deadeye, it's been like this forever, they're more forgiving to play and when you think about warships, first thing that comes to mind is giant battleships with massive guns.

    Respond to DD influence how?

It's not the same though, a few decent players can carry a match for some poorly played cruisers and battleships, it's not easy but it's possible and it's actually kinda rewarding if it works like "Holy hell, we pulled this one ouf of the bag" - Turned several games around today like that with a few good teammates, sometimes even just one good teammate. But I can't remember ever carrying a team with bad DDs to a win. Is this a thing that perhaps only the very best cruiser and battleship players can do? I've seen some super unicum battleship players succesfully ambush destroyers using terrain.

    Respond to DD influence how?

I know, it's beautiful, if I'm in a cruiser or a battleship and I have a competent DD in front of me, I enjoy doing basically anything to keep him alive, I say protect the lolibote in chat and take a bullet for them if they do actual DD things like capping and spotting, sometimes they message me saying holy sht I wish I had support like that more often. If I see they know how to play their boat I'll fck up anyone that dares spot or shoot them. The thing is I do not know what to do in a cruiser or a battleship if your DD is bad, superbad, like doesn't know basic game mechanics bad. You can't see anything, you're permanently spotted, you're being farmed, you're eating torps. Everyone knows what it's like when your DD goes on a CV hunting sailing adventure and the enemy DD does actual DD things. I'm asking how do cruiser and battleship players cope with this

    Respond to DD influence how?

Believe me I know, I just rushed a daring in a chapayev, pushed into like five ships with my radar up, I knew I would die, but I got him, I had to kill myself to trade with that DD because the DD on my flank went on a sailing adventure to the other side of the map to play the other flank for some reason. The only reason I do this is because I know games cannot be won if one side has DDs & the other does not. I will shoot 457mm AP at a DD 20km away when there's a broadside battleship 4km in front of me. Conscious or not, everyone knows DDs dead = loss Enemy DDs dead = win This is evident by everyone prioritizing DDs as a target over anything else under any circumstances. My question is not how to help your DDs win, I will do literally anything to help them win, in a cruiser I effectively hug them to provide AA and radar, hell even in a battleship I go in with HE loaded to help DDs win because I know a game can't be won if they die. My question really is if your DDs are mega potato and/or died early, how do you play? Do you still play/pretend like winning is possible or does farming damage while thinking about the next game make sense?

    Respond to DD influence how?

I'm not talking about about a proper DD player dying, I'm asking how people here respond ingame to potato DDs on their team. Like genuine bonified 39% WR 5.000 average damage shimakaze bad. The kind of DDs that sail behind everyone in their own team, the kind of DD that won't go near an uncontested cap, the kind that basically uses cruisers and battleships to spot for them instead of the other way around (and save a quarter milliion team HP in the process) I'm DD main myself, I want to play cruisers and battleships more but I have a hard time doing it because 99% of games are won by whichever team has competent DDs. What I want to know is how others respond to their DDs being potatoes. I want to know if "Our DDs died, time to play for damage instead of for the win" is a normal reaction. I just kinda developed this response because I cannot remember a match in which the DDs on my team were useless and I won. Basically when cruisers or battleships potato, I feel like I can carry if I do my very best, if DDs potato and I'm not in a DD myself, I can't, I can't remember a single game in which my DDs died early and I won, so I just stopped trying to win those rounds, is this a sensible response or a bad/stupid one? Like I don't go AFK or anything but I stop doing the things you would normally do to win and just pad my damage numbers instead. Ok like my match that just ended 2 DDs sailed from the top left corner of the map where they spawned, to the top right corner, from the top right corner to the bottom right corner, to torpedo the carrier, both of them died, they didn't even get the carrier. Essentially the other 10 ships on the team wasted 6 minutes of their time playing that very short match. If a battleship or a cruiser, even a few of them, are completely clueless, a match is still a match. If your DDs are clueless, it's not a match, it's just one team steamrolling the other team.

Its actually starting to annoy me too now, not the skill itself, just the way people are responding to it. This was a rangemod deadeye pommern division Let that sink in for a moment Rangemod Deadeye Pommern division

Why is this now about BBs not pushing, I wanted to know how people deal with DDs that explode in the 95th second. Its demoralizing in a way potato cruisers and BBs on your team are not, because you dont depend on them to play a decent match.

    Littlewhitemouse on the destroyer skills

Beating shima is easy, just rush it down and don't eat torps. Beating daring is harder, you want to attack, turn out and hope he fights you as you both run away from eachother, if daring does that, grozovoi wins, cuz daring shells become easy to dodge as distance increases, grozo shells don't become easy to dodge. You'll lose the early DPM race but win eventually. Even if you don't kill him on the first try, daring can repair for 5K, grozo can repair for 10.5K

    Littlewhitemouse on the destroyer skills

Because if you play a DD properly, mathematically, your ship is always half dead. You spend some of the game full HP (0% boost) some of the game half dead (10% boost) some of the game low (20% boost) - So overall, adrenaline rush gives you 10% more DPS + 10% more torpedoes + 10% more AA. Whereas MBAS gives you 5% more DPS and 10% more AA. Look at it this way, if you were to just knife fight an enemy DD to the death, the other guy goes in with +5% DPS, you start with +0%, halfway through the knife fight you have +10%, if you win, you're now a smoke spammer with 20% more dakka and a torpedo boat with 20% faster reloading torpedoes because you only have 2K HP left. There's essentially no scenario in which MBAS is better than AR, none that I can think of anyway.

I found an actual counter to deadeye : Step 1) Play a destroyer, get close to the enemy battleships Step 2) Shoot your guns once in a random direction to become spotted Step 3) Enemy battleships go REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE retreat now my deadeye does not work here anymore Step 4) All the enemy battleships are now on the J line and your team gets full map control
  22. Most I have seen so far is 9,5 thunderers : one team with 5 thunderers, one team with 4 thunderers and a conqueror. And you know the conqueror was just saving up for a real thunderer
  23. The great thing about Hindenburg is long range HE spam gets really boring after awhile, you always long range HE spam in the beginning of a match, some games you are forced to do it for 20 mins because the match does not open up, hindy is good at it, but when matches do open up, hindy lets you get close and have fun. Nevsky is only a long range spammer, thats all it does, wooster can only sit behind and island and spam, thats all it does. Ships that can do multiple roles are often the most fun, like alaska can be a big baltimore or a crappy north carolina, depending on how match unfolds.
  24. The legendary module is only worth getting on a very select few ships, hindy is not one of them, you want reload module there. Do not skip roon, roon is a good ship. Hipper is the roadblock in that line but you are almost done with it anyway. Roon and Hindy for a novice player, you want to sit at max range and rain HE shells on everything for consistent damage output without getting deleted, change your speed and course frequently to throw off battleship aim. As you get better, you can start "making plays" - Like closing the distance and switching to AP (German cruisers have the highest AP damage per minute but their penetration values are bad so you need to get close, which is risky) - Another really nice play in Hindenburg is if there's an island in the cap and you see there's a way to make it to that island without dying, smash your ship into that island early and pop hydro to catch DDs, not only will you get their DD killed, but you will "trap" everything on the other side of that island behind that island. You can keep half a dozen ships out of the game doing this because nobody wants to push a Hindenburg at close range with sixteen torpedoes, half a million AP DPM and turtleback armor (which actually works at close range) First thing you want to do in roon is sail forward a bit and then do a 180° turn, your rear towards the enemy push, then "walk away" from them as you spam them to death. But walk away zig-zagging at varying speeds to throw off their aim. Do that until you feel comfy in the ship to do more. Obviously make that turn before you're spotted, not after xP
  25. That's 4 years ago, now German cruisers are anything but tanky, turtleback works at close range, at long range it works against you. A hindenburg gets smacked by 457mm harder than other cruisers because it's slow and a bigger target. Hindenburg isn't about being tanky, it's about consistency, your guns never stop. Of your list, Hindenburg is the most enjoyable ship, because you're always busy, you can do long range HE spam better than most and when you need to get close to other cruisers, you're like a baby-pommern, they can't citadel you, you can rip their face off. Best thing about hindenburg is cyclones, nothing beats hindy in a cyclone. It's not a competitive ship at all, but it's a ton of fun in randoms. Consume alcohol before grinding through hipper though, or save up some FXP, painful experience.
