Is deadeye really this strong, or is it the perception of its strength that changed the meta following the rework?
COPlUM replied to elblancogringo's topic in General Discussion

Didnt know, I just always install it thinking its not in the game, so I can stop installing it? Is the ingame timer good?
-
T4 is dead, the only things in T4 are - CVs padding their stats - Bots - The occasional unfortunate soul who did not get the memo that T4 is dead Its basically just CVs blowing up bots, T4 might as well be co-op, it mostly is. If you like low tier, go even lower, no CVs there. Or go a little higher to T5/T6

Many mods are things that should just be in the game honestly, like smoke timer, why is that not just in the game, not knowing when your smoke is about to stop is suicide, you sit there farming and "oh im dead now I guess GG" - With smoke timer you stop farming and leave the smoke as it's about to run out. The ingame dynamic reticules aren't dynamic at all, they're calibrated to a fixed distance, the modded one is actually dynamic. There's so many little mods, they aren't cheats, they just give you vital information. A new player should probably not use too many of them because it will clutter up their screen and confuse them, but as you're more experienced, you should be using them imo

Why would you do that lol? No ship made me suffer more than Donskoi but after I finished and got Nevsky (Pretty good ship) - Someone told me the trick to playing Donskoi without losing your mind is rangemod. That actually makes sense, just spam from 22km. The ship can't do anything else properly

Do cheaters exist? Probably. But wargaming does such a good job of stopping it that I have personally never seen one. For context : EA Games, the biggest budget developers in the world, their FIFA titles have had a cheat on the PC version, it's a little piece of software, you can pause the match one second into the match, fill in a score, click OK and that's the score, the game ends with that score. One in two games you start, the other player will pause and you lose 1-0, this cheat has been working uninterrupted since 2011, it killed the franchise on PC and at no point in the last decade could the developers be bothered to do something about it. As for mods, even the red/yellow/green light thing isn't a cheat, you can see that looking at the smoke coming from a ship, switching to torps or just paying attention. That's there so boomers on 15 inch laptops can see if a ship is reversing.

Right but that scenario is just a dpm race, supercruiser isn't going to win a dpm race against anything, especially against the dpm king mainz. Many ways for an ägir to kill you with one shot.

In the game folder under replays, upload it somewhere, post the link here and give us the timestamp so we know what to look for.

You start off with claiming cheaters, hackers and ghost ships. Half a dozen very experienced players are asking you to show them what you're seeing so they can tell you how to do the things you are seeing and explain why it's a mechanic, not a cheat. Instead of giving half a dozen very patient experienced people the information they need to help you, you start talking about how much money it costs to become a ghost, which is all nonsense. I'm sure you're a nice person but you're not being very sensible here, you claim hacks, people say it's mechanics but they can't explain which mechanic if they don't know what you're talking about. Explain exactly what these ghost ships do and anyone here will be able to tell you what's going on, I guarantee you it is not cheating, there is no cheating in this game.

If you're playing japanese destroyers and you're smoked up, it could be a German destroyer that approached you, he used hydro and his own smoke, this allows him to see you, spot you for everyone on his team and "become invisible" while shooting you. Good players also tend to do drive-by shootings, they will point their guns at you, sail out from behind a rock, shoot you and sail right back behind the next rock, making him go undetected a second after shooting you, if you're fighting a good player near a rock formation, he can "become invisible" multiple times without even using any skills or consumables. I can go on but there's a dozen ways to kill you without being seen.
-
The moment you explain and/or show other people here what exactly you were seeing, people will tell you what to get and how to get it and -whatever it may be- it's going to be something you can earn ingame. Either by unlocking the ship that's doing whatever it is you're seeing or by learning how these people are doing what they're doing. There's many tricks to shoot unseen, for example, vision of a ship is determined by the middle of the ship, you can peek your nose around a corner and shoot people without being seen as long as the middle of your ship is still behind the corner. It could be that, it could be a ship with floaty shells hiding behind a small rock, there's a plethora of ways to be a "ghost ship" If you stop being a jerk about it people will explain how to do what you're seeing

6K average damage in them too, that's landing one torpedo every 3 games. Not too shabby
-
Yes, we, ... see things help us
-
The point of this game is doing more damage than you receive, there's many ways to shoot someone while they can't see you to shoot back, the people shooting you aren't ghost ship hackers, they are people who took the time to learn game mechanics when you didn't.
-
They found out about the ghost hacks, they're not supposed to find out.

Jervis lightning jutland is also great, no stinkers in that line, just do this with any line you like for easy research points

I think the problem is mostly perception because people compare normal cruisers to super cruisers in the context of how well they do fighting eachother, even I was doing that earlier. There are DDs and BBs out there too, against those many normal cruisers do a better job than super cruisers. This makes sense, if a supercruiser is something between a cruiser and a battleship, they should beat regular cruisers and struggle more with DDs.

Find a line of which you enjoy the T8/T9 and have a captain for the T8/T9 - It's not that hard, especially if you slap one of free permanent camouflages on them. I reset my harugumo line three times in one week to get Ohio. You need about 250K free xp to get the T8, one evening of spamming the T8 and one weekend of spamming the T9. Grind isn't bad if you do it with a T8 and a T9 you actually like playing.

This could have easily been avoided if you just took the +10% damage from AA shell explosions. You have no one but yourself to blame

Unless it's a premium that can't be nerfed In which case REEEEE WE'RE GETTING A PREMIUM CV THAT'S WORSE THAN EARLY MvR AND IT WILL BE HERE FOREVER KILL ME NOW
-
Calm down sir Step 1) Release overpowered CV Step 2) Some spend money to get it ASAP Step 3) Nerf overpowered CV Step 4) Complaints on forum from people who spent money to get overpowered CV fast and it's no longer overpowered :sadpepe: Step 5) Everything is calm once more Go back 3 months and read topics from early adopters of MvR about how angry they were that their overpowered ship -for which they paid to get it early- was balanced and how they demand their overpowered ship back. When you're getting bombed, realize that 12 weeks from now you get to enjoy topics from people who paid €100 to get immelmann early and they are very very upset that their overpowered ship was nerfed somewhat. We had dozens such topics after MvR was nerfed, every single topic was a joy to read. It's all worth it. Relax

Wouldn't this also just be super easy in lower tiers because things catch fire more? Something like budyonny without IFHE is effectively a flamethrower.
-
Uhm, dude, you were talking about shooting from 30km with rangemod and spotter plane, I'm saying if you want to do retarded things, play a retarded ship, thunderer. I agree that secondaries are a meme and pushing is far too situational to build for it, but this was also the case in 0.9.12, you should play ohio from between 14km and 17km. Although on Ohio with the fast reloading heal, I'm not fully convinced deadeye is worth more than the extra 1,5 heals, it's 1,5 heals, not 1 heal. I can't decide tbh. On carolina, iowa and montana 100% get deadeye instead of the heal, games rarely last long enough for your 5th heal to matter. On Georgia/Ohio I'm not so sure.

I've played some of the other good ones on friends accounts, they all seem to dumpster normal cruisers, Alaska, Puerto Rico, Krohnstadt, Stalingrad.
