  1. My favorite thing in warships is playing DDs and hunting other DDs, I unlocked Daring - but because I know she's going to be very special to me, I'm pumping up her captain to level 21 with elite exp before I play it. I know I will love her so I'm not playing her without a 21pt captain and a very cool camo.
  2. None of these powercreep gearing. Grozovoi is the true alternative to Gearing if you want a classic hybrid and it does not powercreep gearing, they are just different flavors of classic hybrid. Grozo has the best (laser) guns, a heal and more speed - Gearing has better torps, more dpm, the best smokes and better agility. Halland and Daring are totally different ships with Halland being a torpedo boat that makes carriers cry and Daring being a DPM monster that's constantly disengaging & repositioning. Harugumo is junk, it gets a 20% DPM buff over the T9 but pays for that DPM buff with being huge and slow, if it wasn't for Khaba being in a very sad state, Harugumo would be the worst T10 DD, she's the only T10 that pays heavily for the benefits she gets over the T9. Until recently both were also the only destroyers to eat full battleship AP damage instead of 10% like other DDs, so they were were even worse. A well played Gearing is still a very good destroyer precisely because it is a hybrid, if you need to be a Daring, you can, if you need to be a shimakaze, you can do that too, it's more shima than daring. Grozovoi is also like this, but it's more Daring than Shima. And Harugumo does not outperform it, the only ship Harugumo outperforms is Khaba but that's a very low bar.
  3. Seeing a decent player forced to "snipe" in a massachusetts and realizing that in this meta, massa is no longer a god among mortals, it is no longer the undisputed king of T8. Almost bought it for 12K doubloons. Dodged a bullet The best heal, fastest turrets, best torpedo belt, best secondaries and impossible to hit citadel doesn't matter, if you're literally the only ship pushing, you still melt. So you're forced to sit back where your best T8 in the game is the worst T8 in the game. It's still king in T8 ranked I guess. North Carolina used to be the massachusetts for poor people, now it's the massachusetts for people who want to actually hit the stuff they shoot at.
  4. My flank was me in Georgia, an AFK uss black and a Donskoi that got yolod by your Z-46. So basically just me Our other flank had the numbers but got schooled by you, your friends and a random kitakaze that was actually playing well.
  5. @SV_Kompresor And his theso boys - I got a message saying "You are the last hope" and I was like "what do you mean I am the last hope, the enemy team has 9 ships left" Thankfully, Kompresor put me out of my misery with torpedoes.

Not going to let it piss me off too much, bought the ship, bought that special french captain for the line, lessons learned, ship sold, captain retired after one match. I should be grateful this was "the french DD experience" in my first game, better than finding out half way down the line. If anything, it's a valuable lesson, never play destroyers without smoke or good AA to compensate (Halland) - they are CV food. Sailing those ships, your only purpose is to "entertain" someone else playing CVs, you get to do 0 damage, shoot 0 shells and launch 0 torps, but you do get to entertain someone else. I am sure this is not always the case and French DDs can be great fun, but just the fact that this can be the way a match plays out is enough to make me forget destroyers without smoke even exist, under no conditions will I ever play them. Whoever was playing that Ranger, thanks for saving me many days of my life.

Your ostergotland, smaland and halland have AA, eventually the planes die and you get a break, you can reposition, whatever. Low tier french DDs get no AA whatsoever, no smoke and no speed either. So in a French DD, one squadron of planes can be over you for the entire duration of the match. A good CV player will just kill you and that's that, but a bad CV player can't kill you, he'll just try, try, try, try and try some more. This results in you dodging planes for 20 minutes. The issue is a CV player with a spare copy of his 21st chromosome can keep you occupied for 20 minutes, it is relentless, it does not stop, one squadron of planes is on top of you uninterrupted for 20 minutes I killed myself sold the ship and will pretend this line (which I was very interested in playing) simply does not exist. Go try it, play a T6 CV and hover a squadron of planes over a jaguar, he can't do anything to get away from you, for 20 minutes. That is asinine game design, one player can troll another player for 20 minutes and there is nothing the other guy can do to make it stop, except kill himself, which is what I did before selling the ship. Thank god I got this "experience" before the new German DDs come out, they will have the same issue, I'm not touching them. Because one in ten games a potato CV will hover his planes over your head for 20 minutes and with the new germans too there is absolutely nothing you can do to make it stop at any point. Europeans are playable because they have some AA, eventually the planes will die, French and new Germans get no smoke and no AA. I'm not playing that, there is no condition under which I will play a DD without smoke or AA after this match in a Jaguar. It's mind-bogglingly stupid, the only way is "just dodge" for 20 uninterrupted minutes or kill yourself to make it stop. My team asked why did I kill myself, I was doing "such a great job" keeping the enemy CV busy. Yeah well screw you, I'm not here to keep someone else busy for 20 minutes.
  8. Cruisers is pretty straightfoward too in my opinion This for cruisers who have a heal and are tier 6-8-10 (so they face carriers in clan/ranked) This for cruisers who have a heal and are tier 5-7-9 (so they do not face carriers in clan/ranked) Cruisers that don't have a heal I don't take superintendent so there's more options there, if cruisers don't have a heal and are uneven tier you only really need a 13pt captain
  9. Battleships are pretty straightforward, build without deadeye for russians and germans build with deadeye for everything else
  10. The only ships I struggle with builds are gunboat DDs because these 17 points are mandatory for any viable destroyer in my opinion. I dont know what to spend the last 4 points on Cant take fearless brawler because its a *please kill me now for free thx* skill - DDs getting outspotted are dead DDs MBAAE is kinda weak for 3 points and taking any 3 point skill means I have to take an entirely useless 1 point skill. I end up taking pyro and extra heavy AP but im losing out on so much DPM compared to my builds in 0.9.12 Gunboat DDs really got nerfed hard in 0.10.0 - Torpedoboats got buffed
  11. COPlUM

Give us our DD builds back!

You can basically spend 4 skillpoints on a DD - because 17 skillpoints are mandatory for your ship to be viable : PM + LS + SE + AR + CE + RADIO
  12. Playing one game in Jaguar, getting chased by a single squadron of Ranger planes for nine minutes, doing 1.065 damage to planes, getting one plane-shot-down ribbon and scrapping my plans for starting to play French destroyers as they are the most cancerous thing I have experienced in this game so far, you are literally just a human toy for the CV player to mess with, there is no escape, he can chase you around the map for 20 minutes and you will never kill one of his planes. Realizing this is, apprently, the French DD experience, saved me a lot of time, I can pretend these ships do not exist.

You need to play jaguar once and face a CV once to realize destroyers without smoke are unplayable. There is no way I will torture myself and play this line, one game, all it takes. That is how cancerous this is. I was interested in playing this line, took me one game to decide im never touching french destroyers, and if this was my first experience with world of warships, I would have uninstalled it right there

I played the Jaguar, T5 DD. Enemy ranger, T6 CV, was too potato to kill me, so he chased me with planes for nine minutes. During those nine minutes, I did 1.065 damage to planes and got one airplane shot down ribbon. After nine minutes of running away from potato CV planes, I killed myself, I was too bored to run away from that same one squadron of planes for another eleven minutes. Some parts of this video game are truly moronic, like, just, asinine. A low tier DD can literally shoot one squadron of planes for the entire duration of a match and kill one airplane
  15. Finished getting the 20 ships I wanted with very high level captains. My other ships are a dozen T10s that dont even have captains in them and a dozen free premiums im not interested in. Next up get these 15 captains to LV21

Win Rate, what is that mean?

You are overcomplicating the math, a 40WR player is so useless that any team he is on has a 60% chance of losing, despite him being only one of twelve ships. A 60WR player is so useful that any team he is on has a 60% chance of winning, despite him being only one of twelve ships. You can clearly see this ingame, 40WR players are not "kinda like 60% players but they make some mistakes" - They do everything wrong. Like to get 40% you need to straight line DDs into the cap without a camo and die, you need to show flat broadside in cruisers to the first ship you see and stay broadside until you are dead. 40WR basically means the team would have been better off if you weren't there and it was 11v12, probably because you're a bigger threat to your own team than anyone on the enemy team, like shimakazes on the back line spamming 20km torps through their own team, stuff like that. It's really hard to get 40% you have to practice being terrible. The people launching torps with 6km range at targets 15km away get at least still 45% WR
  19. COPlUM

Win Rate, what is that mean?

Exactly, you just got lucky with matchmaking, ten thousand times, in a row.
  20. COPlUM

Win Rate, what is that mean?

You don't want to do that, the unwritten rule about hidden profiles is you hide your profile if your winrate is atrocious. You're at 47%, it's not terrible, just below average. People will still support you with 47%. If you get closer to 40% or hide your profile, people will assume you are useless and let you die. The way many people use the stat monitor is decide who they support and who they don't support, to increase their own chance of winning. So if you're in a DD, support cruisers won't risk HP to push up a bit and radar to help you win, if you're in a cruiser, battleships won't risk HP to help you win a fight, if you're in a battleship, DDs won't risk HP to fight off an enemy DD hunting you. Because 5K of their HP is more valuable to the team than you and your entire ship. Basically hidden profile means you are no longer worth supporting in battle and they will just let you die or use you as bait, same applies to 40%'ers Example : If you're in a Des Moines, losing 5K HP to make a Daring back off and save your 55% WR halland is worth it. Losing 5K HP to make a Daring back off and save your 42% or hidden profile halland is not worth it. Many good players make this "calculation" all the time using monitor. If you see a 39% winrate or hidden profile shimakaze with 5K average damage, for your own benefit, you should already start kiting and prepare for not having a DD on your flank, he's going to die in 90 seconds. And you certainly shouldn't push up with him or waste a radar consumable to help him win, he won't win, he has never beat the enemy DD and he never will. All this information is incredibly useful if used wisely.

Win Rate, what is that mean?

It is a personal rate because the average winrate of your teammates over thousands of games is 50% - many don't want to hear it, it says everything about how good or bad you are. -If your winrate is 40%, that means you're so terrible the odds of your team winning is reduced by 10% because you are there, despite you being only one of twelve ships on the team. -Going below 40% is almost impossible without actively sabotaging your own team or divisioning up with other really bad players, because then one quarter of every team you are in is bad players. -If your winrate is 60%, that means you're so great the odds of your team winning is increased by 10% because you are there, despite you being only one of twelve ships on the team. -Going over 60% is really hard playing solo, the way to get substantially over 60% is playing with two other good players, because then one quarter of every team you are in is good players.
  22. Alright, thx for reply. I'm not testing so I'm just guessing what the issue might be but tones & ises spotting DDs with planes sounds pretty bad. So like, I hope a division of 2X ISE and 1X CV can't permanently have a squadron of planes spotting enemy DDs until they are dead and then just play the game as a regular battleship without any enemy destroyers (=easy win)
  23. @Captain_Newman and his gang eating glue, errr, I mean running a full DD meme line-up in clan battles Killed 3 of the little boogers but not Newman :sadpepe:
  24. So a DD player can basically face up to six carriers in a game, is this how these boats work? You are basically a CV early game, 6v1 the DDs with planes?
