New graphical changes are dumb and make no sense
COPlUM replied to cuddlesRO's topic in General Discussion
New graphics are cool, even people typically negative about the game are telling me it looks cooler. Hello this is tech support, have you tried unplugging the device? -
Phew, ok then sir

New ships Part Deux with Flamu
COPlUM replied to OldschoolGaming_YouTube's topic in General Discussion
(crappy) heal and torpeeeduus or crawling smoke + hydro and DPM that's somewhere between Daring's and Minotaur's is not a difficult decision. Just imagine a Super-Daring creeping up on you with crawling smoke and German hydro Oh man, how do I become a tester? I just want to try it out, it's my only chance, it's obviously not going to be released like this. -

Bro how does this work, I keep shoving cash in my CD drive but still no Daring with 5.8km conceal, 15% more DPM, 5KM hydro and crawling smoke. On a more serious note : There's no way vampire gets released like that, taking away Daring's (crappy) heal is not enough to balance that monster. I'm not about to worry about a ship that isn't even in testing phase yet, neither should you. If it is released like this though, I will sell my firstborn child into indentured servitude (nice way of saying slavery) to pay for Vampire II. -
No problem, I'm going to hope/assume you're on a reroll account though because playing Ohio after 200 random battles is yikes xD

Good captain/ship build for Wooster?
COPlUM replied to OldschoolGaming_YouTube's topic in General Discussion
Stopped taking IFHE even on IJN 100mms for this reason, there's not much left to farm with IFHE, the BBs you could reliably farm with IFHE sit in spawn (thunderer) and/or have a superheal (conqueror) Or they're generally sitting too far back for you to ever shoot them. If battleships are making love to the edge of the map, there's only cruisers to farm and you don't need IFHE for that. -
My bad, 460. ok then at least getting deck citadeled won't be too common, phew. Still, squishy bote, very squishy bote.

I wasted permanent christmas camo on alaska because I like shiny lights, childish behaviour happens

If you use MM like a child, all it will do is make you "angry" about bad teams. But children can't use reason or do math, so they will be "angry" when they get a 44% team and "forget" they got a 56% team last round. If you use MM like an adult, you use the extra information to increase your odds of winning (or pad damage/save star when your team is truly hopeless) Super bad teams don't even upset me anymore, because I am an adult, I know the average winrate is 50% so over thousands of games, matchmaker is fair, I got a 55 team for every 45 team I ever got. I see super bad teams as an opportunity to pad my damage numbers or play "captain-save-a-star" something I never do under normal circumstances.
-
If you use MM to go REEEEE I HAS BAD TEAM you're using MM wrong. MM is there for tactical advantages : - Competent DD in front of your radar cruiser? Take some risk to help the guy, he is your lolibote and you keep him safe, lolibote is vital, protect lolibote at all cost. - Potato DD in front of your radar cruiser? Risk none of your HP to help him win, he won't win, he will explode in the 2nd minute regadless of how well you support, start kiting or switch flanks. - Competent des moines behind your DD? You can count on a well timed radar. - Potato des moines behind your DD? Don't count on a well timed radar, counting on one will get you killed. - Are you in a normal team? Play normally. - Are you in a mega potato team? Play to pad your damage numbers (or save your star in ranked) - Are you in a unicum team? Play agressive to get some damage done before the game ends prematurely There's a plethora of ways to use MM that make you a better player, ranting about bad teammates is not one of them. It's also stupid because for every 44% team you get, you get a 56% team, that's how averages work.

I never considered poop concealment on some Russians can be a good thing, sometimes I love this stupid forum, always someone who can share even more stuff.

Feel like I need to chip in here because it's very much my wheelhouse, I'm quite the connoisseur of murdering destroyers in destroyers :) Lightning is one of the best if not the best at T8 for DD vs DD knife fights because most DDs get outspotted by what they outgun, or outgunned by what they outspot. Lightning outspots and outguns just about everything, so you get the opening salvo(s) and have very good DPM and godlike forward angles, it's built for exactly this. -Don't pick a fair fight with akizuki or her bigger sisters, they have problems with agility and concealment but will rip your head off and shlt down your neck (Duke Nukem reference) -Dont pick a fight with the french if they have reload booster available, you outspot them hard, keep them spotted for a while so your team softens him up a bit before you go in for the kill Some general advice for DD vs DD fights, if it's a fair fight, don't go for torps, that's precious seconds the other guy is already taking your health away, you won't land those torps anyway. Only use torps in a DD vs DD fight if you have to run hoping for a lucky strike or if you know you're going to lose the fight anyway and torps give you a chance of killing the other guy after you're dead. In a fair fight, the guy grabbing his torpedoes almost always loses, you're 5K HP down in the trade because you wasted time launching torps. Pop hydro before going in the fight, to make sure you don't eat a torp and because there's a chance the other guy will pepega smoke up and sit there, if he does, be agressive, go to his smoke hydro active, open up on him as soon as you have him hydro spotted, he can't return fire because you see him, he cant see you. Germans can do this better for obvious reasons, but Brits can do this too, your hydro is mostly defensive but not entirely defensive. This works more often against American DDs because they have this weird smoke-fetish "My smoke lasts 3 hours so I have to sit in it when I use it" They don't want to "waste" their smoke to escape. Push into their smoke and farm them for free. For the love of god don't try this against Germans you will die :) After the smoked up american is dead, feel free to "borrow" his 3 minute long super smoke to farm his friends Watch out for DDs with "tricks" like germans doing smoke+hydro to farm you for free, or USS black doing smoke+radar to farm you for free, there's methods to deal with them but don't overload yourself with learning everything at once. I spend 90% of my time in this game playing DDs and hunting enemy DDs, not many people specialize in this, it's not easy, but it's incredibly valuable to a team, you already got a bunch of good advice here. Good luck sir. If you want to win DD vs DD in a torpedo boat, you need your team, this is why I don't like torpedo boats. Take Yugumo as an extreme example, the way you beat a kitakaze in a Yugumo is flawless positioning so you outspot kitakaze for awhile while your team softens up the kitakaze before you fight it, or possibly just outright kill it without you ever being seen. If your team is bad, a torpedo boat will rarely beat a gunboat. You want good concealment and excellent guns, torpedoes are almost an afterthought for this playstyle. 2 more tips before I go - When you fight Russians, you outspot or out-dpm them, often both. What Russians do is attack you and run away from you while they fight you, if you end up in a situation against something like a Grozovoi fighting you while he runs away from you, or you run away from eachother, stop shooting him, go dark. He wants you to continue fighting as the distance between you increases, because Russians fight using superior ballistics. As the range between you goes up to 7km and more, it becomes very hard for you to hit him, but he doesn't notice any difference, as the distance between you increases, you'll land less shells, he'll continue landing shells as if he were right in your face. - When you fight anyone, the guy who does the chasing while shooting is at a disadvantage, the guy who does the fleeing while shooting has an advantage, because the guy who does the fleeing shoots a guy who is approaching, his shell travel time is shorter, this dynamic tends to help torpedo-focused DDs a little bit against gun-focused DDs, they tend to be the ones running. The guy who does the chasing shoots a guy running away from him, his shell travel time is longer. Russians, again, are the exception here, because their ballistics are so good they don't care. At long range, Russians win, it's that simple. At 10km you're throwing confetti and Russians are shooting lasers, they pay for their lasers with poop agility and poop dpm, but they have lasers, you don't. My personal favorites T6 ) T61 (with Gunther Lutjens) - Best at literally everything, because balancing department made an oopsie. T7) Gadjah Mada (with quan rong) - Excellent DPM, great concealment, best forward firing angles for attacking other DDs, good for farming damage when your job killing DDs is done. T8) Lightning in competitive / Akizuki in random battles T9) Jutland in competitive / Kitakaze in random battles T10) Daring in competitive / Grozovoi in random battles One more because I can't help myself and am passionate about this particular niche playstyle On most ships RPF is incredibly useful, it gives you information about where the enemy is, the enemy can use it against you, theoretically, but 95% of players are too dumb to pull it off. There's many ways to use RPF that are straightforward (where is the squishy torpedoboat I want to find and kill) - There's ways that are less straightforward (Is RPF switching? Am I about to fight one or two guys?) And there's a last way in which RPF is beneficial that is not obvious - It increases your damage output. Lets say you do 3K per salvo, RPF makes it so your guns are pointed in the right direction when the fight begins, that's a 3K damage head-start for you because the other dude is wasting a few seconds turning his guns your way. RPF is unironically more useful than 5% faster reload or whatever even in the actual fight itself. Oh, these are you first 17 skillpoints for DD hunting duty - the only real exceptions are the french and some russians. I know, 17 mandatory skillpoints is a lot, there's only 4 left for "diversity" Don't care, if you want to go kill DDs, you spend these 17 points before you spend the last 4 on whatever, the last 4 points don't even matter, depends on the boat. Also, general advice for british DDs, not related to DD hunting duty : Reposition, reposition, reposition. You have a bunch of short duration smokes, it's there so you can A) Disengage whenever you want to B) Waste CV's time C) Reposition, smoke up, do damage, reposition, smoke up, do damage, rinse repeat. You have to be all over the place in Brits. But if you want to be a useful teammate and want cruisers/battleships to send you flowers, you do this after you did your job, killing the other DD.

New ships Part Deux with Flamu

This is my wife catherine. Are you sure about that? Well we dated in high school, same thing. -
Nobody cared about meme secondaries then, nobody cares about them now. It's tanky, has a massive HP pool, a quick-heal, superior firing angles for remaining angled while still punching someone in the gut with 457s every 20ish seconds. You don't bully an Ohio if it wants to slow you down, not before the rework, not after the rework. Only derp-thunderer can do it because 'muh triple fire every 21 seconds' and Japanese 460s. The only other ship that can tank like Ohio is Kremlin, she can delay an even bigger push, but not for long. If you want to buy your team time, Ohio is a wonderful ship, and giving your team numerical advantage somewhere else is valuable - if they aren't all pepegas.
-
I just noticed the top of her citadel is 32mm under that 16mm deck, so 457mm guns don't even need to shoot you in the schnoze or butt to citadel you, any shell landing on that deck is a citadel. Average players getting this because Flambass said it's good are going to be big sad

We need a premium Baltimore or Oregon City class CA for T9

If consistency in turret layout is an issue, germans be like : Turrets in the back, Next ship, Turrets in the front, Next ship, Even split, turrets in the front again, turrets in the back again, even split again Some ships have 4x2/4x3 layout, they have to be more careful when firing more than 50% of their guns, it is what it is. -
He's just asking which ship individual people dislike most I guess, ship you didn't get along with and were happy you were done with it.

The wow-factor of Ohio is not driving around looking for damage and going dark between shots, get Montana or something for that. The wow-factor of Ohio is it can stop a push dead in its tracks. If you want to see Ohio shine, go on the weak flank, U-turn, slowly kite away from multiple enemy ships at medium range. You can buy your team a very long 11v6 and the 6 ships you were tanking will have a very bloody nose if they were within 12km of an Ohio for five minutes.

Not in the mood for watching videos but did you say Daring with speed boost, 5.8km conceal, even more DPM, crawling smoke and 5km hydro? Finally, pay to win done right. My money is ready wargaming, all yours, release this beautiful specimen now. When does it get released so I can set an alarm clock? -
Austin looks like the kind of ship many people will get because they have seen content creator X or Y melt something in it. To quickly realize that a citadel covered by a 16mm deck can be ... an issue :) I faced 2 austins while ranking out, I got a devastating strike on both, one shot in the stern, both were perfectly angled. Every battleship can do it, every supercruiser can do it, hell even HenriIV can do it. She's similar to radar minotaur in that sense, powerful? Oh yes, for people with flawless situational awareness. The brutal answer is the honest answer here, don't get it, you're not good enough to play it well (neither am I by the way) At higher tiers, the ships you do reasonably well in are battleships, specifically Jean-Bart. Bourgogne is a Jean Bart on steroids, get that.

Didn't even know that, don't remember this ever happening either so I wouldn't get my hopes up. Realistically, the only way Thunderer gets balanced is community balancing. You hate it, I hate it, everyone hates it, so focus it. Smolensk spam stopped because pepegas spamming smolensk were like 'Holy F* why me, why always me, why won't anyone shoot anything but me' This is an unconcious thing many people do when they hate a ship, it's a concious thing for some, I literally have a Hindenburg with 25km range and 21pt Lütjens for the sole purpose of making Thunderers miserable after they pissed me off too much. In world of warships, sadly, there's limits to how much of an extremist you can be. In war thunder there was a plane that was ruining the game for everyone, the TU-4. Everyone hated that thing, I took it upon myself to become the hard counter to them, spamming MIG9L, all I did - for thousands of games, was charge into the enemy TU-4 and trade. It became such an issue that I would spawn, say "hello" in chat and TU-4 players would recognize my name and eject out of their plane before take-off. My trend picked up, forums were on fire from mad TU-4 players, the plane got nerfed and the griefing stopped. Sometimes community balancing is necessary.

np, listen to what your clan needs though, there's probably more to it than "what doesn't get yeeted by a maniac in a kitakaze"

Ooof tactics, tactics make me sleepy. Our tactics guy exempted me from even having to listen to tactics, I have the attention span of a 6 year old so my job is charge into lolibotes and kill them fast. My advice for Neustrashimy over black comes from having to do this repeatedly, Neustrashimy is the one that tends to get away. If you feel like you can use black more often for your tactics, get that. It's just, when I run into a black Neustrashimy, not so much :-(
