I think deadeye was interesting but too good and the requirement to make it work made people do really bizarre things. I hoped they would nerf it (say -5% dispersion) and remove the requirement, so people would stop sitting in spawn and having intercourse with the border of the map to make sure it's active. What we got instead now appears to be a place-holder because surely nobody is seriously considering getting a speed flag for 4 skill points that works sometimes in no-cv matches.

Should have been a (short?) free respec for everything - As they said they would in a devblog before the rework. Deadeye being removed changes optimal cruiser builds too, for example getting harder hitting AP and longer hydro makes sense on a hindenburg but in the deadeye "lets tickle eachother from 27km" meta - you played that thing with a derp build : Spotter plane + spotter skill + rangemod + DefAA + AA skills. Now you're half-stuck with derp builds, you can slot reload mod and hydro back because fun will be allowed again, but you're stuck with spotter and AA skills that are suboptimal. The changes are not as intrusive as they were with 0.10.0 - most people wouldn't care too much, but a few days of free respec for people who min-max would have been the right thing to do.

Extra heavy AP is actually kinda nice on jutland/daring, now its going to be better. Same for fearless brawler on some russian and french DDs, not all of these skills are junk. "Burn 30% longer for 3 skillpoints" is junk though and "10% extra speed, sometimes, but only if there's no CV, for 4 skillpoints" will also be junk. 5K extra HP on some cruisers would move that skill from junk to maybe worth it. It's not all bad, just deadeye was too good and instead of changing it - they swapped it for one more trash value skill. I really hoped they would change deadeye, because the idea behind that was actually interesting, it was just too powerful and the requirements to make it work made people do silly things. If they changed deadeye to be -5% dispersion regardless of where your ship is, it wouldn't be OP, some would still want it, I probably would on some ships, and it would no longer cause people to hump the border. I'm actually suprised by how they did it, instead of changing the interesting skill, they just removed it and swapped it with what appears to be a place-holder, it's a speedflag for 4 skillpoints, and it won't even work most of the battle.

Because that richthoven thought your flak puffs were power-ups and was doing pokemon gotta catch 'em all. If carriers aren't OP I'd like to know why solo winrate caps out at 60% for surface ships and 80% for carriers.

My greatest achievement today was finding out you don't have to carry people who spam ranked games to get carried all the way up if you don't want to Izumo on my team spawns and says "We needs to fights and WINS" He sails to the nearest uncontested cap and parks behind a rock in the back of the map I laugh at him in chat while I get farmed to death by a des moines, we were losing hard anyway Next game, he's on my team again "We needs to fights and WINS" So I tell him, if you sit behind a rock again, I will play in such a way that we lose, but I'll save my star this time He parks behind that same rock again, I save my star and let the last remaining enemy DD get all the caps Next game, he's on my team again "We needs to fights and WINS" He parks behind a rock, different rock, I tell him dude I'm just going to do it again, you're not going to save your star So I farm a conqueror and let him zombie heal three times instead of doing normal Alaska things I made that guy lose 3 ranks in a row and the way he plays - it's going to take him 500 ranked games to get these 3 ranks back. Wasted my own time too but it was worth. -

Yes, the new fearless brawler is almost as good as the old BFT for gun-focused DDs that actively hunt down other destroyers. Right now it's only good on stuff like Kleber and Khaba who don't care about concealment anyway. -
You don't know this yet. It's entirely possible we'll get as many or more flags with the new system. Please [edited] about bad changes we know of, there's plenty of those recently.

This is true, the other changes themselves don't necessarily justify respec for all. Deadeye itself though shifted the meta to such an extent that many people changed their builds to adapt. You don't need top grade gunner or heavy AP when all anyone does is tickle eachother with HE from 26km. Some cruiser skills were undesirable in the deadeye sniper spam derp meta but may be desirable now. It's not a huge deal but it's unfortunate, a few days of free respec for everyone would have been the right thing here. -
CV mains always have 0 karma, they're used to being reported and take being reported as a compliment. Also - there's already a sticky topic for venting about CVs, which is why I'm using yours to crack jokes as yours will get removed.

Dear EnacheV, No, they got under my skin before I reached stage 7 of dealing with grief. Once you reach stage 7 and simply accept that CVs are superior beings who get to decide who dies, when and where - things get better. I'm guessing because he wants to easily compare how well people did comparitively on the winning and losing side OP if you want to do that, just divide the XP of people on the winning team by 1.5 in your head - They get +50% xp for winning

Yes it did, I loved my hindenburg. Deadeye 26km sniping meta made me build it with the spotter plane skill and rangemod and a bunch of crappy AA skills. Because I don't need better damage on my AP shells or hydro if I'm just going to "trade" with a Thunderer 26km away. Building Hindenburg like this made it viable, not fun, but viable. Now I'm stuck with a derp build for 6 months until I get a free respec. If it wasn't for the deadeye 26km derp spam meta, I would have built my hindenburg with top grade gunner and heavy AP, not spotter plane and a bunch of crappy AA skills. -
That interraction with that new mexico begging, pleading with my CV to please stop killing him, please, just for a little while, reminded me of this movie scene. It's actually astonishing that a class in a pvp video game can be so imbalanced and un-fun people cry, beg and plead to please stop killing them.

Step 4 is when you just let go of your mouse and keyboard when a CV is farming you to death and watch your screen as it happens, this lasts about 500 games. I hope you get to step 7 soon.

The theory is they're a balancing factor when one side has competent destroyers and the other side does not - typically the most one-sided games. And they prevent ships from sitting behind an island stationary spamming all game. The main downside is CVs are like god, or Thanos if you're not into abrahamic religions, they decide who lives and dies whenever they want, wherever they want, however they want. This ability to be omni-present wherever they are needed to win, and their ability to yeet destroyers back to port, makes it so that there are CV players with 80% solo winrate while no such thing exists for battleship, cruiser or even destroyer players. They are like the gods of world of warships, you need to acknowledge they are your superiors and if you die, this is god's will, you submit to the will of the CV player. He is a superior being, you are vermin, a cockroach, a worm, take your pick. Now respect your superiors and get yeeted back to port by planes like everyone else

Wasn't your first post on this forum "I don't need anyone telling me anything about warships because I played tanks" some some such? There's a 500 page topic complaining about CVs, we get a fresh 500 page topic every year, virtually nobody likes CVs, get in line with everyone else. Anyway if you know everything, you know Excavatus is going to close this topic as soon as he comes online, I hope he'll add a joke again.
