What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
AnotherDuck replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
I've come on top of the team when I literally didn't get to fire more than one salvo before being detonated. Sometimes you get potato teams. Sometimes you get teams that would get curbstomped by potato teams. -
Especially considering what I've heard people say about the ship, such as iChase's advice: Throw money at the screen. And for a while once the rest of those ships are available, I think we're going to see a heavy influx of battleships. And perhaps destroyers who want to sealclub...
-
You mean you don't usually have three Tirpitzes per team currently?
-
I know it can be a hard concept to understand if you're not familiar with it, but there are some people out there, like myself, who sometimes like to show consideration for other people.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

I finally managed to get my first 15-point captain (Hiei not included). Now I can get my Kamikaze to work on my Kagero captain instead of my Fubuki captain... -
I wrote a post like that in that thread. Today it's been different, though. Mostly T9 battles (T7-T9 ships), regardless of if I used a T7, T8, or a T9 ship. And my Kamikaze was top tier for one or two games.

Radar, what the hell am I supposed to do?
AnotherDuck replied to _GGHF_'s topic in General Discussion
So, last I met a radar, it was while I, in a Kamikaze, was parked in the middle of the A cap on Estuary. Two Atlantas were parked behind the islands south of the cap, volleying shots over them. First one of them fires up the radar, and they start shooting at me. Then once that's ticked down, the other Atlanta fires up her radar. Over the course of two radar durations, and during which I sat mostly still, they managed to take about half my health. With cruiser players as crap as that, sure, they need radar. They need any help they can get, and it probably still won't be enough to kill an 11k HP destroyer. Well, torpedo soup is what radar encourages. Have fun. -
Also prefer +/- 2. It's a nice spread that can promote different playstyles even with the same ship.

Do you guys whine just as much if the MM sets up your team with a total of one tier lower than the opponents? Is that almost certainly going drag the rest of the team to a horrible loss? Because that's what you're arguing. Way to go ad hominem. Who said anything about me starting fail divisions in higher tiers?

Different playstyles can ruin the games' fun
AnotherDuck replied to Dr_Knolle's topic in General Discussion
Real life battles didn't have automaps with all visible positions, though. Some things in real battles were pretty bad. Things in this game are pretty bad much more regularly. -
So they don't get to play together if it's higher tiers where ships are expensive. Screw that.
-
So 2 T10, 8 T9, and 2 T8 vs 2 T10, 2 T9, and 8 T8 looks fair to you? That's a total of six higher tiers.
-
Which would completely prevent you from playing with a friend if you don't have exact tiers. Also, that's nerf to my Umikaze. Does best at T4-T5.

Learning how to position yourself is one of the hardest skills to learn in the game, and many people struggle with it throughout all tiers. It's usually more important than other skills, or your specific ship upgrades. The first thing about that is probably that you shouldn't position your bow against an island. While it can help in some cases (emergency brake), it usually leaves you a sitting duck for people to easily shoot at (and people will choose an easy target over a moving one).

Welcome to the game and to the forums! Personally I never really checked up any guides in the beginning. Dove straight into it, although I had seen a bunch of videos before, so it wasn't all new. Best advice I can give is to just be patient. The gameplay isn't always very fast-paced (although it certainly can be, especially for a destroyer when things turn interesting), and sometimes you just have to spend some time waiting or travelling to another part of the map.

I managed to get several good games in Nagato, for once. Got the average damage up by about 1.5k. It helps that the current tier spread is very favourable for T7 (although one of the better games was T8 or T9, where I among other things deleted a cruiser with only my front turrets). That effort netted me Ashigara. She's hilariously energetic. Can't captain Haguro for crap, though. It's all her fault. -

I ignored them, and turned around to delay the enemies. Managed to get a fair amount of damage done. Wasn't enough, but it did help us lose at a slower pace. The ships in my team pushing in front got obliterated by the enemy, far ahead of where I could do anything about, even had I gone with them. It's not like Two Brothers is a map where you can just shoot over the islands... And of course they decided to call me and a Tirpitz retarded (forgot if it was one of the dead guys or not, but someone who got below me on the scoreboard), despite not saying anything when we announced our intentions long before, with no objections. -
Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
AnotherDuck replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Was a fun but quick battle for me. Managed to get a decent amount of damage done. Then I went up against a Yamato, hit her with most of my torps, she healed, and had only lost about half health. And I got one-shotted during that, so I didn't have time to aim the torpedoes that well (still only missed a few). This is where I doubt people who say Kagero has worse torps than Fletcher. Or at least I think it was that game... -
Hey WG, do something about MM for the love of god(s)
AnotherDuck replied to Pajosaurus's topic in General Discussion
Counting the games I had today (10-20 something), I had maybe two or three that weren't in those specific tiers. On the other hand, most of the time I was grinding damage in Nagato, so all good. Well, aside from the regular crap summer players who can't find the chair they're sitting on, and me doing completely horrible in ARP Haguro. -

When it comes to enjoyable gameplay, lemming trains > camping. Except if it's on Two Brothers, both teams go clockwise, and you're in a battleship, so you're stuck the entire match without targets. -

AnotherDuck replied to Pajosaurus's topic in General Discussion
So, according to the forums, there are three types of games: low tier games, tier 7 games with all T5-T7 ships, and T10 games, with all T8-T10 ships. Nothing else exists. -
Well, I don't speak Japanese outside what Google Translate provides, but if you want to read it in higher resolution, the original is larger.

The text in my avatar says "kamopoi!". The non-poi word there means "maybe" or "duck". And for people not familiar with the girl holding the duck, that's Yuudachi, who's the girl saying "Poi." And if WG had any kind of KanColle collab, she'd be the first character I'd want, even if it's just a captain. Would be fun to have a ship based on her KanColle stats as well. If you're not familiar with her, she's got the highest firepower out of any destroyer (although the only non-Japanese destroyers are Z1, Z3, and Libeccio (and Верный, if you count her)), as well as the third best torpedo stat (Shimakaze's got the highest torp stat, and Kawakaze's (one of Yuudachi's sisters) got the second highest). For any game company that's larger than a few people putting a game together, and often even that, you have different people working on different aspects. I'm pretty sure the people adding and adjusting features to the game aren't the same ones that put together the reskins and voices for the ARP ships.
