Why would you show a broadside to a cruiser? Why would you be alone without AA protection from friendly ships? Why can't DDs stealth fire at top tier ships? Are their torps somehow slower against top tier ships? You're right. There's absolutely no skill in what you said. Just whining. The fun is in the challenge. Why does it stop being fun the moment you don't have the toppest tierest ship out there?

    Matchmaker is unplayable

If you have 2/3 bottom tier, 1/6 middle, and 1/6 top tier, then you'll be bottom tier 2/3 of all matches you play. I'd find that more stale than how it currently is, at least for me. I'm top, middle, or bottom about a third of the time each, and on average that's how the distribution is. One match recently I was the only T9 ship in our T7-T9 team, and in another I was one of the only two T5 ships facing T6-T7 ships, but usually there are at least three ships per tier. If you say I'm skilled, I say that playing bottom tier ships is how I got skilled. You don't learn anything if you can just rely on your ship being better. Well, that's an exaggeration; you can always learn, but the point is that your mistakes won't be as noticeable, so it's harder to see what you're doing wrong. And sooner or later you'll end up in high tier games, where those mistakes will cost you a lot more. Making a mistake playing a T5 ship in a T7 match is about the same as making a mistake while being top tier in a T9 match. But you're trying to eat the cake and still have it. The average player who'd only hit a wall of frustration meeting higher tiers isn't a player who can overpower others while being top tier. Someone who can just overpower with brute force is also someone who's more likely to be able to work around weaknesses of bottom tier ships. Knowing how to use top tier advantage is also a skill. Regardless of what your tier is, knowing how far you can push your ship in the current context is always key to success.

Credit income on tier VIII plus still too low with premium

They're good if they suit your playstyle well enough that you usually do good in them. It's at T8 that it starts to get hard to earn money if you aren't doing so well. Premium benefits help that, but you need to have a decent base game as well.
  5. Collision reports are useless. They happen in normal gameplay, sometimes intentionally, but their presence masks actual team attack reports. Would work better if there was a minimum damage level you'd have to reach before the report got to chat.

I find that being bottom tier encourages you to play smarter. If you're top tier, you can often just overpower your opponents with brute force tactics. If you're bottom tier, you need to figure out what advantages you still have to make a difference. Bottom tier ships are often smaller, to take one common advantage. In one game where I played Kirov, the only ship with longer range than me was a Nürnberg, so despite being the floating, armourless citadel a Kirov is, I could do a lot of damage without risking myself. In most games where I'm a bottom tier Fuso I just go cruiser hunting, and sometimes try to bait the enemy battleships into sniping contests where they will do less damage overall, while my own allies can perform more effectively. If you're in most Japanese DDs you say, "itadakimasu", and start having fun.

Skill matters more than the differences between the ships. There's no "absolutely certain outcome", especially since it's a team battle, not a solo duel between a T6 BB and a T8 BB. But in a game like that it's really better to focus on cruisers. Since the T7-T8 cruisers are overall sturdier than the T5-T6 cruisers, you'll overpen less, which means more damage. And you'll still have a decent chance at citadels. That leaves your higher tier battleships more free to deal with the enemy battleships.

I'm a witch. That's why I do decent economically. I mostly brought that up because someone mentioned Fubuki as not being profitable. That's one tier lower than Kagero, and according to many, a plain better ship. Added to that, I run a sub-optimal (read: fun) Kagero build.

    Estuary, worst map EU?

I kinda like Estuary. I'm usually there as a DD, but it's not bad as a CA or BB either. It's got a different feel from most maps, where you're never really locked out from any part of the map, but at the same time, going through the centre canals can be very dangerous (but not as stupid as between the Two Brothers). Trap has three caps. The A cap is a death trap. It's a little better with the new spawns, but once you go around the corner, and there's an enemy there, you die. The B cap is a death trap. You can be shot at from several directions, and the surrounding islands make it hard to get away. The middle island helped a lot, though. The C cap is a death trap. Very open, and now with the closer spawn positions, you're going to be under a lot of fire if you're spotted there. It's an aptly named map. Horizontal island cluster maps are kind of boring. Though of those I like North the least (although Northern Lights is the prettiest map). They're all much too similar in gameplay, and that gameplay got old on the low-tier Islands map (but brawling in T1-T3 ships is more fun). I kinda liked it before, since while it had some issues, they were fixable with some minor island adjustment. Now it's just a vertical island cluster. That's a corridor shooter. It managed to combined the cramped feeling of too many islands with the exposed feeling of Ocean.

Personally, I do reasonably well economically in my Fletcher and Kagero, and I'm not more than a slightly-above-average player. Granted, I use flags (although I get enough Just a Flesh Wound and First Blood to cover those by gameplay), but I don't have premium. I do use premium consumables (damage control and smoke) and camo, though.

When I said that Fuso handles higher tiers better than other battleships, I was specifically including Tirpitz. Those two meeting is far from a certain outcome. Sure Tirpitz has more advantages, but I wouldn't call the disparity "huge" by any stretch of the imagination. Then again, if you just give up the moment you meet a +2 tier ship, of course you're at a huge disadvantage.

    More intuitive spotting implementation.

What I'd want before this is a better indiction of where you're aiming relative to the minimap. Currently you can basically only see the direction, and if it's close to any features on the map, but trying to determine how far you're actually aiming is a bit tricky. Not that I haven't gotten hits at 12-15 km during a cyclone, but still. Something like a short line on the aim line to mark the distance of where you're currently aiming would be nice. As it is, the only distance/scale indicators on the minimap are the circles.

    Manga? Seriously?

But that takes time away from being snarky on these forums... (Also, it doesn't affect drop rate.)

    Manga? Seriously?

No difference. Currently waiting for my KanColle shipgirls to lose their fatigue so I can sortie them again. If I roll the dice enough times, maybe I can get Pringles to drop...
  16. AnotherDuck

    Question.

It might just be that the armour models are wider than the HP sections, or something like that, which means you could hit the armour but there's nothing to be damaged at that spot.

    Manga? Seriously?

Because that game is totally in the same genre as this one. They're about as comparable as Cookie Clicker is to CS:GO with a chocolate chip pattern camouflage. I certainly think the players attracted by the anime content provide a much healthier aspect to the WoWs playerbase than the toxic players who whine about anime content. You haven't seen the discussions in the KanColle fandom about potential upcoming ships, and the plentiful subtle references to naval events, have you? Now, granted, the ARP fandom isn't as naval-geeky as the KanColle fandom, but it's not as if you have to be a naval enthusiast to be suitable as a WoWs player. And if anyone's has to be disappointed, I'd rather disappoint people who whine about additional content than those who embrace that content.

    Manga? Seriously?

More players means a healthier player base. Not sure what you mean by "cornered", though. Can you explain that?

Well, those people with anime themed avatars and sigs are just crazy, and crazy people are better left alone to their own devices. You don't want to start up a conversation with a crazy person, right?

Smoke Screen Spotting Mechanic Is Broken

Sure, you could make all ships invisible because she can't see them. But for consistency's sake, no ships at all should see enemy ships spotted by allies. You should only see what you spot yourself.

    Manga? Seriously?

I wouldn't really say "offended" is the right word. A more accurate reaction would be something like Can you argue that WoWs is solely based on history with nothing non-historical?

  25. Can confirm. The funniest moment I had with that was when a Khaba called me a hax for being able to reload in 20 s, and I just replied "30 s". Then he called me an idiot for having that consumable, which makes me wonder about himself, since that idiot consumable got him killed. It's risky as hell to play without smoke, but I've had more extra kills than extra deaths with it. Bismarck is definitely my end goal for anything in the nearest future. Although that's most because I just wanted her from before I started playing the game.
