I spent free xp on getting Nassau, and upgrading a few things on her and Kaiser (which I'll also do on others). I ended up in so many potato teams that I used free xp to unlock Kaiser after one win in Nassau. I was most of the way there anyway.

WG - Turn off "Friendly" fire please, pretty please!

As mainly a DD player, I like the friendly fire mechanic. It makes the game more interesting. -
What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
AnotherDuck replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
I think my greatest achievement today was managing to resist throwing my computer out the window after WG has apparently decided that I'm a farmer. I've never had to carry that many potatoes before. It took me seven matches to get just one victory with Nassau, and another four with Kaiser. Why can't the potatoes be on the other team for once? And while damage numbers are inflated due to all BBs, I still have 20k above average in the former (which is despite one match where everyone outranged me by several km, and I had to dodge torpedoes from DDs and planes with absolutely no support, since Straight spawns decided only BBs was a good match against carriers and DDs), and a little above in Kaiser. On the other hand, one match with Isokaze, one with Umikaze. Almost got two Krakens, and 140k/100k damage resp. Unusually, I got High Caliber in the former, but not Confederate. Those often go hand in hand. And Liquidator in both. -
A lemming train that doesn't push enough is almost never going to work, on any map (assuming Domination). If you push with most of the fleet (or all of it), on the other hand, it can break through a lot of enemies, and give you a good enough ship advantage to win the match, even if you're behind on points in the beginning.

Same for me. I've learned to hold back a little more recently (especially when playing a glass cannon like Kirov), but I just find it more fun to play aggressively. Even if it's not always a good idea. I'm probably going to like the German BBs.

quoted post removed I usually go by the theory that a bad plan is better than no plan. It tends to work as long as the potatoes are cooperative enough. -
About the Arpeggio event and its future and continuation
AnotherDuck replied to Cmdr_Kouta's topic in General Discussion
I got Kamikaze R through Project R, and it's definitely one of my favourite ships. Sure, it's nice to have an event exclusive ship, but at the same time, if WG can make money just by putting up an existing ship for sale, I'm not going to begrudge them that. After all, I got her for free while playing a game I enjoy, while others give money to support the company that gives me a lot of free content. -
Probably the MK. Planning to get and keep Bismarck, so at that point I probably wouldn't play Tirpitz much at all. Atago is nice, but I have enough Japanese cruisers with the ARP ships, even if they're one tier lower.

More is good. Takao should have two paintjobs. One red, one blue. Being available in the premium store might not be possible due to the agreement to have the ships. -
Reduce the amount of scharnhorst per single game
AnotherDuck replied to anonym_TymY49y5i0fs's topic in General Discussion
The only safe tier is probably 10 at the moment. At lower tiers you'll just have the other German BBs. -
No, but it's the only ship you'll even get the chance to beat.

Same goal. More relaxed pace.

Why upgrade to Minekaze (Isokaze vs Minekaze)
AnotherDuck replied to Guard_TZ's topic in General Discussion
Mutsu is the sistership to Nagato. Mutsuki is the T6 destroyer. Calling the latter by that shortened name means you're using the same name as the former. (I call Mutsuki "Mutsu" on occasion as well, though. ) -
Why upgrade to Minekaze (Isokaze vs Minekaze)
AnotherDuck replied to Guard_TZ's topic in General Discussion
No, you've got that backwards. T6 ships now enjoy the privilege of not facing Isokaze. Isokaze enjoys feasting on T6 ships. -
The concept of matchmaking isn't strictly bound to player skill. However, in most multiplayer games you don't have the kind of tier system WoWs has, so sorting by player skill is much easier. In WoWs also adjusting for player skill means they'd have to split the playerbase down into even smaller groups. I much prefer the variation of playing with or against 35% WR players as well as 65% WR players, especially if it means I don't have to wait forever for matches. On the other hand, I'd rather not play with you in my Fuso any day of the week.

Why upgrade to Minekaze (Isokaze vs Minekaze)
AnotherDuck replied to Guard_TZ's topic in General Discussion
You also face higher tier ships with Minekaze, which means you can do more damage and earn more credits. Isokaze is still my second favourite ship, after Umikaze. -
I find smoke much more reliable now than it was before. Sometimes you're not hidden when you previously were, and sometimes you are hidden when you previously weren't. I prefer reliability over maximum effecive smokelaying speed. Getting owned by someone setting stats to private. Always funny.

Patch 0.5.10 and German BBs Incoming
AnotherDuck replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
I want to be that Umikaze. -
And this isn't one of them.

What makes you think they let the players decide?

Yeah, the spawns on Trident are too close. I've had a game where I started in the front as a battleship because I was in a division, and then I got spotted and shot at before I could even turn my guns forward. I kind of like Okinawa, actually. It's almost a half-ocean map, since there's so much open space. There's the A cap of a trap (excellent place for gunboats, though, before the cruisers get there), an island at the SE edge of B, and pretty much open ocean. I think the map has its place, but it's a little too common. Last I played that map, someone suggested the ever popular "all go to D" lemming strategy. Then I supplied that if you go lemming, you go full lemming. We won. Solomon Islands is reasonably similar, but I really like that map. The middle straight isn't as much of an idiot bait, and the large islands makes it different from most maps. While I agree with the sentiment, I don't find those maps to fit the pattern. Loop and Islands, yes. The others, not really. Fault Line is like North if a meteor hit the middle, and Land of Fire has a lot of open space in the west with some island, and a dense archipelago in the east. On the other hand, Islands, Polar, North (and Northern Lights), Ice Islands (old was better), Warrior's Path, Sea of Fortune, and Loop are way too similar. Islands and Polar at least have the excuse of being newbie maps. North is a little different in that the islands are larger, but I don't think that's for the better. It's just a horizontal clump in the middle, and nothing else except for carrier islands.

I've been called a camper. At the time, I was camping in the B cap of New Dawn. As a cruiser. -
Patch 0.5.10 and German BBs Incoming
AnotherDuck replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
More spotting mechanics inbound. Probably a good idea to start with just the statistics on it, to get an impression for how it would work to add actual rewards to it. I like the B/W stripe paint for Bismarck. Nagato gets a life boar? Holy crap! -
Sorry, didn't mean to steal your schtick.
