What happens if I already have the Kirishima?
AnotherDuck replied to BloodRose13's topic in General Discussion
There was also a mission to get a Hiei captain with 16 points somewhere in there. -
It's the most arguable point. I personally prefer sunflower seeds.
-
So what colour is it, then?

For missions that require kills, it can be a bit annoying, but as far as the match is concerned, killing is better. Team mates are not there for you to complete your missions (which goes both ways). There are some cases that are just plain wrong, though. Holding your fire just to snipe that kill is just bad gameplay in most situations, since it's better if you keep doing damage and actually do your job. The exception to that is if you're at low health and can't take the return fire that would come your way, where opening fire would mean sinking yourself. Destroyers don't have a lot of health, and even a single salvo can mess them up pretty good. There's also when a battleship fires a full salvo at a very low HP cruiser that isn't posing a direct and immediate threat to anyone (single shots is naturally different), and there are other good targets around. That's a huge waste of damage potential. A destroyer (or cruiser) trying to torp a soon-to-be-octopus-home is quite often a waste as well, since most of the time the torps won't even reach the ship before she's sinking.

I always wondered about that term. If you're firing at your allies, you're not particularly friendly, are you?
-
She's not pink. She's fuchsia and violet.
-
As mentioned, the term is "kill securing". It's what's done to prevent enemies from shooting even once more, or fleeing in some cases. Fewer guns pointing in your general direction = good.

Planes don't care about mountains. It's probably because they're drawn to fly much lower than the altitude they'd normally be cruising at, as well as mountains being much higher than they'd realistically be.

Am i the only one totally annoyed by the AP spam of battleships ? you have to hide your cruiser in every game and sail like a dunkey to avoid contact with the AP spam. Its too OP atm

Is it just me or have "uber losses"/"uber victories" become more common?
AnotherDuck replied to Full_Metal_Taisho's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, too many players who don't have a clue about playing battleships put on the captain's hat and try them out, with predictable results. If you're in a DD, you can carry quite a lot. If you're in one of those battleships, you're going to have it tougher. -
Your go to ship when it's all gone wrong.

Isokaze, especially right now, but mostly I'd say any of the Japanese DDs I have in port (Umikaze, Isokaze, Kamikaze R, Fubuki, Kagero), ARP Kongou or Fuso. ARP Ashigara is also plain fun to play. Benson and Fletcher aren't to be forgotten either. Come on, that thing has way more armour. -

I think regardless of which ARP ship and captain, if you already have the ship, you get a free port slot. If you already have the captain, you get another captain (so fill your reserve slots before you get her, since that gives you a free captain reserve slot). -
Why battleships have a huge disadvantage. WASD hack kidding me?
AnotherDuck replied to FdTeufel's topic in General Discussion
Well, IRL, at least one of the most significant roles battleships played was to scare the enemies away by looking large and imposing. Their passive threat was often more effective than what they physically did. Edit: A Fuso in a T8 battle has some cause to go long-range (but only if you know how to hit from there). But at least go mid-range first and soak up a little damage before retreating. -

Had a great game in Kagero today, but sadly the screenshots somehow didn't want to save. 111k damage, four kills, three caps, and 3k base xp. Also scored a Double Strike with Fletcher. Tashkent with torpedoes, and Pensacola with guns. Hotspot's C cap is MINE! Edit: Kagero replay, and Fletcher replay. -

I thought it was to compete to see who can get a citadel from the longest range? -
Highest Spotting or Potential Damage figures so far?
AnotherDuck replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
Well, going by that, it seems like it just calculates everything within your sight range that's spotted by you, and since a battleship shooting will be seen across the map and has the most HP, and a battleship has a sight range about as far, they're going to get the highest numbers. A destroyer doesn't have nearly the same sight range, even if they're often the ones who make the initial spots. Just guessing, though. -
I tried to look through an island once. Popped radar, island defeated. Radar OP, nerf pls.

I find that the auto collision system works for cruisers if you're not paying attention to where you're going. If you're in a battleship, it's too slow. If you're in a destroyer, you often want to hug the coast (in an awkward not-quite-touching "man"-hug, not a crushing bear hug), or sail through a narrow channel, and in those cases you automatically turn in the direction the game has calculated your intended direction to not be in.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
AnotherDuck replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Those are just individual potatoes. I'm talking about entire teams. Teams that can't achieve what I can all put together (and I'm not that great of a player). Things like being the first to enter a cap, while playing a battleship, without the cap being contested by enemy destroyers or heavier enemy fire. Or having half the team die before I can even get that far in a straight line. Also, that Farragut, imagine him actually suiciding, and you have one I played with (though probably a Clemson or similar). And at that point we were even in the lead. -

So why are you okay with being able to see what other ships spot for you? You can't spot them, so by the same argument, you shouldn't see them. -

So you're the one who keeps stealing all the non-potato teams. -
I think I got a report against me, judging by the karma. A Tashkent called me a cheater in chat (and didn't respond when I asked how I cheated). Apparently a Kagero isn't allowed to out-shoot a Stronk Russian GunboatTM, even if I actually hit my shots and she doesn't.
-
So I says. I sometimes fire torpedoes from second line. It usually means the other ships are charging straight on and getting very close to the enemy. But in those cases, I always make sure that even if the allied ship turns as much as possible into the torpedoes, they won't hit. I also sometimes fire torps into smokescreens at an angle, where it's possible for an allied DD to get to there and get hit, but again, I always make sure that that's not the plan the DD has, and in those cases I always alert the chat to what I'm doing. In total, I think I've hit an ally three times with torpedoes. One was a clear mistake (just a frenzy). Another one was me missing which direction a borderhugging ally was heading into, and he suddenly accelerated into a direction I didn't think he physically could. Still, my mistake. The third was me misjudging the extremely slow speed of the Tachibana torps, so I didn't think a battleship (really, how fast are they at that tier?) would make it in time. In addition, the battleship I aimed at suddenly died from half health, and as such the torps missed. Still, that was the risk I took, and it's not the BBs fault he got hit by my torps.

Today I got ARP Ashigara, which is now my favourite ship in my port. Mostly just because I like the character and I like the somewhat faded neon colours, but the Myoko-class is a great CA class. First game, 1.3k xp, 75k damage, and as many kills as the rest of the team combined. Which naturally meant a loss. Second was a win, and just as naturally a worse result. She stands up surprisingly well for a cruiser against the BB fleets you meet at all tiers now, and like most Japanese CAs she eats DDs for breakfast. If it takes you more than three salvos to kill a DD, you just don't have all guns pointed in the right direction. (Also did more Isokaze BB-clubbing for another Kraken, but that's not exactly an achievement in this environment.) -
Your torps, your responsibility. Most people don't suicide, even when it looks like it. They usually have more urgent things to worry about than getting torpedoed by careless teammates, or they're just not execting someone to fire torps from second line. Sometimes your torps block them from properly avoiding enemy fire, or getting away from a sticky situation (or a situation that will turn sticky soon). I don't think ramming can make you pink. Can possibly make you stay pink longer, but that's about it.
