Ranked, if you could remove only one: CVs or Arms Race?

Ranked at T10 is fine. The only real problem there is that Smolensk exists. That's a cancer that should be removed from the game entirely. Arms race and Domination both work reasonably well. The problem isn't there. CVs are cancer. They just ruin the game for everyone else. Before the rework, they were bad, but workable. After they're just pure cancer. Doesn't matter what type of ship you play, since there's still way too little you can do about it if you get attacked. Can't build for AA. Dodging multiple times isn't really feasible unless you're in a DD, and then you're going to get hurt a lot anyway. The only thing you can do that's reasonably effective is lemming train, which also makes the game far less enjoyable. I would like to try to play CVs, but then, I'm not a plague bearer. Hopefully all CV players get infected by Corona and get too sick to play. That would make the game better.

    Flambass playing RTS CVs today!

Stopped playing today because too much CV edited*. And Smolensk edited*. They just ruin the game. edit: watch the language please

BBs never had a real fear of DDs. That was never what made them camp. It's always been other ships shooting at them. Radar only made that worse, since now there's even less incentive for them to push.

I guess I just like not playing with a substandard ship.
  5. This is actually surprisingly rare for WoWs players. Must've been a rogue WoT player.

I find that at those tiers you gain more money from playing a better ship by using premium consumables than not. And if you use captain skills and upgrades to offset stock damecon, it's probably better to use premium damecon and instead get more effective skills and/or upgrades.

What I wonder about is why the consumables are not premium on a T9 ship...

    Leviathan accuracy consumable

All of the Halloween ships had crazy consumables. They worked because everyone else had them, the battles were more about brawly action than careful strategy (which also meant imbalances were a little less relevant), and the operations were balanced with them in mind. They were not balanced nor are they a good idea on the ships in Randoms.

    Muting quick messages

Every time this happens, send in the replay to support. Since it's not supported by the in-game ignore system, it goes to support.
  10. The poll is stupid, and doesn't accurately represent the fanbase. There's a significant difference between "I like this part" and "this is the part I'm here for". I mean, it's obvious that if you have the choice between adding "this thing I know about" and "this thing I don't know about", the answer is going to be the first, and that's the case with the historical ships. People know about them, so they want them in the game. People don't know about various paper designs, so they don't care about them. This is a longer paragraph for saying that the poll is dumb.
  11. Oh, I've been accused of sealclubbing in Shimakaze. Players say the darndest things.
  12. Not quite. I thought the combat looked interesting to try out. I knew most ships were historical and some were fantasy, and I didn't mind. You can't categorically say, "This is the one reason people started playing the game." People have various reasons. Many started playing because it looked fun on YouTube.

    Hacks. Rather bemused.

There are visualisation hacks like wallhacks that show you enemies that aren't visible, but your client has information on. There are also predictive shell tracers, so you know where enemy shells will hit, and can more easily avoid them.
  14. Are you trying to say that WG will the carriers so they can add the BBs? Why do you hate BBs? BBs have feelings too.
  15. I like more ships. The poll falsely implies that there's some sort of correlation between adding fantasy ships and removing historical ones. There is no correlation between removing CVs to make them fit into MM, and adding Russian fantasy ships. Conclusion: Poll is bogus.

I didn't claim hydro made torpedoes do no damage. You claimed hydro is not a counter against DDs, so then I claim something that nullufies BB shell damage is not a counter against DDs. If you can say hydro only counters torpedoes, I can say a consumable like that only counters shells. If you think that's ridiculous, then your claim is ridiculous. So why not mention any T8+ cruiser? Or the Z-52? Can you torp them 1-2 torps while they're running hydro? You can always blame the victim. Doesn't mean it's correct. Just a little nuisance that makes getting decent damage and actually defending an area extremely hard. You're straight out wrong.

I usually spot for my team in DDs, especially the IJN ones. For that reason, I don't use smoke a lot (which is why I'm not particularly affected by the lack of smoke with TRB on some ships). There's very little reward to it, though, so you kind of need the damage from torpedoes to not run into negatives. That's also what keeps so many players from playing for the team. And if you can't encourage enough players to play the game in any way other than purely selfishly, you've got a flaw in the design of a team-based game.

So if you have a consumable that makes BB shells do no damage, that would not counter BBs. Gotcha. And you just had to compare the biggest, bulkiest, and most slow-turning of all ships in the game that has hydro. That just means anything else will have a much easier time dodging those torps. Anyway, poor arguments aside, hydro makes it trivial to avoid torpedoes, and it's very fun to use to catch DDs in smoke or around islands. It also makes it very easy to take or defend caps against DDs. They're not that great, and WG seems to like to make them irrelevant, but they work as a deterrent. You don't need to chase it down. You just need to drive it away from the cap.

    Blue-on-blue torpedo situations

Yeah, never do it unless you're prepared to face the consequences. I do it sometimes. But the last couple of times I've turned pink were when a dying DD rammed me and I happened to fire my guns at the same time while I'm trying to not get citadelled in my cruiser. Which means team damage in the range of 100-200. One time was because I misjudged the border, one time because I had been alone for five minutes and just that moment a wild DD decided to appear in front of me (literally just outside arming distance), and one time was a player dying by ramming (although I'm not sure I got pink, though). So I'm not sure I've ever actually hit someone on one of those calculated risks. Might've snagged the superstructure of a close-passing ship once or twice without getting pink. Stop random violence towards innocent islands! Especially those vile thugs who shoot islands in the beginning of the match, not to mention those who pretend to be nice island huggers only to shoot point blanc into the unsuspecting island. This is why you have the minimap as large as you can have it without it covering too much of the playing field. You could have a system that allows you to claim it was accidental as the victim, but as mentioned, there are some problems with it. If they do that, harassing the victim to drop the team damage incident should lead to increased pinkness and/or a straight out ban. Not quite. There are quite a few drivers brake checking, often for insurance frauds, and if you have a dash cam you can report them for unsafe driving. Just because it's your fault by default if you rear-end someone doesn't mean the person in front is allowed to do whatever they want.

    Blue-on-blue torpedo situations

Always. I've always said that since before I knew it was common. Still your responsibility. You don't know what other players will do. Things that seem deliberate are usually because of an unfortunate coincidence. The miscommunication comes from the unclear warning, so it's clearly the Tirpitz's fault. The only exceptions I can see is if the player deliberately try to catch the torpedoes. That's actively working against the team, which is a bannable offence.

any chance of a ramming rework?

Action and reaction and all that. It doesn't matter which body gets displaced. I mean, sure, it's about half the amount of bodies that can get displaced, but for the forces we're talking about here, half isn't going to make a significant difference in why there will be a catastrophe.

any chance of a ramming rework?

DDs are not small ships. They're some 100 m long and 2000-3000 tons. No, it doesn't. Not really. In particular since we're still talking about one floating ship. What WG counts as flooding is a hole several metres in diameter. A 16 inch hole is a tiny fraction of that, and would do neglible damage. Interestingly, if you actually do that at very low speeds, you do damage over time, rather than one big explosion that sinks at least one of the ships. This means the ship with the highest current health will survive, and maybe both if they disengage fast enough.

Same as with radar, then. Only that radar more actively makes that scenario happen. As far as I'm aware, IJN CAs don't have radar. So I've done that lots of times. So I'll tell you lack of radar doesn't make the game campy. On the other hand, once you add radar, no one will push anyway. Radar isn't enough to actually push with, but it's enoguh to deter others from pushing into you. As such, radar makes the game campy. Sure, because I never played the game before radar was introduced. You know, when it was far less campy. And I've certainly never played any games without radar ships. Yeah, keep making crap up, because that's all you're good for.

    GAMEPLAY GETTING WORSE

I think what you and most others are actually experiencing is that they're getting better at the game and thus better at spotting the noobs. That makes it seem like the overall quality is going down, but I'm not quite so sure that's the case.

    Radar Discussion Megathread

I didn't say I'd end my participation. I said I'd stop arguing with people posting nonsense. I've posted plenty of arguments for why I have my opinions. The one I was arguing knows that. Or at least should, since he pretends not to for the sake of posting strawmen. I don't care to repost every single opinion just because some people don't have the attention span to remember discussions they're so obviously invested in. Radar makes the game less enjoyable, because it makes it more campy. Most of the advice people give to DD players to cope with radar is "go away", which for most people translates to "camp harder". Less aggressive DDs means less aggressive everything else, which means campier gameplay. It's not more complicated than that. It was entirely possible for an average player to cope with the old Shima torps, but they had to be nerfed to unusability because players couldn't meet even that low standard of gameplay. The average player is obviously having trouble with radar, so it should be nerfed. Saying it's entirely possible for them to cope with it has nothing to do with how it actually is in the game.
