Favorite shipgirl (Kancolle,Azur lane, Arpeggio of blue steel,Haifuri)

I tend to like the isekai genre. Not because of the tired broken protagonists, but because I generally like the kind of settings they use. Mostly fantasy of some kind. I've been reading a bunch of isekai manga on bato.to recently, of varying quality. Pretty much all of them involves some kind of broken power for the protagonist. Some of them, like Isekai Yakkyoku and Tondemo Skill de Isekai Hourou Meshi have protagonists with OP skills, but they don't focus on combat. They're about running a pharmacy, and travelling the world and cooking food respectively. One I like is Kumo desu ga, nani ka?. Although admittedly mostly from reading the LN the manga is based on. You've got the protagonist, who's reincarnated as a spider, and has the benefit of being able to level up very quickly compared to just about everything else. And there are more broken things about her, but exctly what those are are spoilers. And that's not including the broken abilities she learn and/or develop on her own. But the world is interesting, and it does have a good connection to the previous life. You don't even know who she reincarnated from, but you'll learn that eventually. The best part is when you see the dissonance between various perspectives. What one character thinks is overpowered is what another won't even notice. Just don't expect stellar writing, or stellar translations. It's sort of googlish, though it gets better. Another, Bokura no Kiseki, sadly updates very rarely, is a reverse isekai. Most of the named characters reincarnated into this world from a fantasy world, and they spend most of the time trying to figure out who was who, what actually happened that killed everyone, and more importantly, why. It's a bit hard to keep track of everything, since you need to keep track of at least two lives and names per character, but it kind of reminds me of the Mafia (or Werewolf) social game where everyone's true identities are hidden. It's interesting, but a little hard to follow (and haven't been updated in a few months; otherwise it's been monthly). And just to pretend I'm on topic, have the best Takao. And an Ashigara or two. -
Watch the replay, if you have it enabled (and you should), and see if you can spot what you did wrong, and what you could've done better. Most of the time, the answer is to play more defensively if you're killed quickly. If you're used to having smoke, playing with TRB is hard.

I'm currently reading this one, and I'm almost at the end (just two books left). There are some interesting things that start happening there. Someone described it as, "come for the fanservice, stay for the economics", since for some strange reason, it's so highlighted that Holo appears naked in the very beginning in early reviews and stuff. However, what I stayed for is the character interactions. Holo and Lawrence play off each other very well, which is especially noticeable when other characters are thrown into the mix. Log Horizon is one of my all time favourite animes. For some reason I haven't checked out the source, though. -
So you admit that radars break game balance. Thank you.

DDs vs CVs is either pigeon shooting gallery for the DD, or free damage and kills for the CV. There's very little in between. Which is the problem with CVs. They're far too binary. Broken, not fundamentally overpowered or underpowered. They're both at once, not balanced.
-
Where are these 5+ DD games you talk about? I sometimes, rarely, see five DDs per team, but more than that? Absolute fiction. And "5+" BBs per game for the last year is far worse than the occasional 5 DDs during the same time. You can just WASD or use sonar or something. It's not that hard. Adapt to the difficulty, just like DDs have to do with radar. Don't be a hypocrite and whine about things being overpowered when you can just adapt, and then use that exact argument in the other direction. Come on, try to apply a little reading comprehension here. Harder isn't the issue. More boring is the issue. The game has become campier since radar was introduced. It's what I said when it was in development, and it's to great surprise turned out to be true. And if you claim it's so fun and engaging, why are there so many whine threads about radars not being taken into consideration for matchmaking? I mean, if it's actually fun and engaging, it shouldn't make any bloody difference. The proof is all over the place.

You were passive-aggressive, which is toxic. At least owe up to your behaviour. You could've stated the same thing without an aggressive tone.
-
It's WG fake gimmick balance. Again with the crap "you can deal with it" argument. You could deal with the old and much more powerful IJN torps. You just have to WASD. But no, that was too much for the BBabies, so nerf. Why is never the same argument made for DDs? DDs have to adapt. Others get tools to deal with their incompetence. The game was better because there was less camping. Didn't you read what I said? You mean campier.
-
I don't think your logic matches real world logic. No, cruisers don't push, and I never implied they do. What they are doing is camping behind islands (which is no problem for radar), or hang around the battleships at the far back. In other words, radar makes the game campier, since it makes them far more reluctant to advance, unless they're too stupid anyway. You're saying you've never heard anyone complain about CVs? My opinion is that CVs need to be reworked completely, one way or another. As it is, they're either underpowered or overpowered. There's no balance. A CV player winning the CV battle can often determine the entire battle for the rest of the 22 players. No other ship has that kind of impact.

I had to play twelve or thirteen matches just to get my second win with that bonus, especially since yesterday I only had a couple hours of premium left. I only barely managed to squeeze in the few wins for the ships I'm grinding in something like five hours of playing. Most of those matches I got in the top two. So you're the one stealing all my luck with the teams.
-
Have you noticed at least a decent chance that the DDs in your team know how to do that? Because if you haven't, you don't have an argument. If you want to, you can apply the argument, "You can deal with it with the proper strategy," to practically any imbalance in the game. As such, it's not worth the paper it's written on. Besides, there's often no point in baiting it, since the cooldown is relatively short, and by the time you can take advantage of it, it's already too late. Not to mention that you're assuming there's only one radar, which is wishful thinking at best. Personally, yes, I can deal with radars. Most people can't. But at the end of it, no matter what ship I play, radars make the game worse. The game was better before they were introduced. That's all there is to it.

I don't use Last Stand on my IJN CAs. I do use the upgrade that lowers the risk of rudder damage, though. That's usually enough to make it livable, without also wasting a skill on it.

The way I see it, the main causes of camping are many battleships and radar. It used to be that battleships camping could much more easily be punished by destroyers getting relatively close and torping them, meaning they had to be much more on the move all the time to avoid it. You know, play smart rather than hit S and stay there the entire match. Radars put a massive wet blanket on that. That also leads to fewer destroyers pushing, and without destroyers pushing, no one else pushes, which means even campier campers who camps.

This I like. Vår julskinka har rymt, det tycker jag är grymt. Sweden has that too. -

The way I've heard it is that most of what actually happened isn't exactly certain. If you've ever read war records of the same event from different sources you'd find they're notoriously unreliable. This particular battle was a clusterfuck by any definition. Exactly what ship did what damage is to a large degree unknown, especially when it comes to torpedo hits. However, what is certain is that without Poi, that battle would've gone down significantly differently, probably much worse for the Japanese. Counting only direct damage done is like saying the only one who does anything in a football or hockey game is the one scoring a goal, and the rest of them are useless and might as well sit on the bench. Battles (and sports) don't work like that, so don't try to pretend they do. -

For some reason, I was amused when I recognised the song that played during the third naval battle of Solomon Sea. It was fairly accurate, for any given knowledge of what the hell actually happened there. Especially Poi's position. Smack dab in the middle of the enemy fleet. -

Ships take a while to appear on screen (but shown on minimap)
AnotherDuck replied to Andrej_Peribosky's topic in General Discussion
I think the issue is that the time to when the ships appear in sight has increased. Now it's about three seconds, but it used to be less. I'm not sure how long ago that was, but I'm pretty sure I remember it being shorter. -

She's neither the best Rin... ...nor the best Vocaloid: I'm not sure who the best Kancolle idol is, but this is certainly a good try: Also, have a sleepy Nagananami: Also also, I still want this girl in my fleet (spoilers for the Kancolle movie): Also also also, kitty! -
One thing about the two later battleships is that it's somewhat less viable to use a full secondary build. More T10 games means longer distances where secondaries just don't matter as much. I'm not going to say that those ships have worse secondaries, but Bismarck-class has the best secondaries in the game tier-for-tier. However, there's still the most important factor we mentioned before: Which is more fun? Personally I stopped the line at Bismarck, so I can't say anything about the others. I can say I find them less scary to meet than Yamato, Montana, and the Iowa-class. Conqueror is also a pain to meet. The rest of the T9 and T10 BBs I'm not really that worried about, relatively speaking. Amagi is probably more scary than Izumo.

Pay to win season for DDs.
-
My immediate reaction is to question why it matters, since WG doesn't really reward spotting damage anyway.
-
I'd probably main Bismarck or Amagi, depending on which the meta favours more, along with Benson. Kagero is an option, again, depending on the meta. Or Takao.

If you don't like Leander, I don't think you're going to like the rest of the line. It's not the best ship in the line (that's either Fiji or Minotaur), but it's very representative. Good concealment, floaty shells (which means hiding behind islands is very viable), decent torps, awesome secondaries, and rewarding aggressive play. You're not going to do a ton of alpha damage, but you're going to wear anything down fast if you get into a good position. And slightly better tankiness than Russian cruisers like Kirov and Chapayev.
