  1. Just going to echo what others have said. Fubuki is one of the strongest AA DDs, and by far the easiest to get (Murakumo is similar). Mutsuki (and Kisaragi) is one of the best expedition DDs overall. Low consumption and ability to carry landing crafts. Houshou is good for expeditions and needed for some quests, and she's my primary plane builder (I know it shouldn't matter, but she has good luck with crafting). In general, any ship with a kai ni is strong enough to keep, if you look at the stats. One tip once you get Akashi: The AAFDs (Anti-Aircraft Fire Director) are very nice to upgrade to AAFD guns. Other than the relatively new Yuugumo gun, the 10cm + AAFD guns are the best DD guns you can get. And if you don't have any secondary guns that works as the AAFD guns, you can make one. I often use one with Yamato, since she's so powerful so often hits the cap anyway, so having a secondary instead of a main gun isn't that much weaker, and she can use AACI.

Past Tier 8 no fun games only camping

I don't think it's needed with the other stealth nerfs. And it's not like radar has a counter, apart from skill in compensating, so why is that fair when it wasn't fair for smoke? Long before the radar was introduced I had the suggestion to nerf smoke in a similar way as it's been done. Essentially my suggestion back then was that smoke didn't give a fixed detection range, but a straight reduction of the current detection based on some percentage. That's not all too different from how it is now.

It's not like you're using any logic, so why are you demanding that from me? Since radar was introduced, gameplay has only become campier. Whenever a DD player complains about it, the general response is to just avoid those ships. So you're promoting a more passive gameplay from DDs. In pretty much all games, there are no ships as far forward as the DDs, which means the entire team plays more passively. Playing more passively means more camping. Whenever there's a game with no radars I see a lot more dynamic play than with radars. It's not logic I'm using; it's experience. *edited* Heard of reading? I've said many times that I do not have much of a problem dealing with radar myself. How many more times do I need to say it so you can get it through your thick skull? I know how to deal with radar. That's not the issue. It has never been the issue. In how much simpler terms do I need to state it for it to not fly over your head? Besides, it's not like baiting radar is some kind of magical solution. For one, it requires you to reveal your position. Two, the time you buy from it is maybe a minute. To do what? Torp someone who now knows you're there? And if there's more than one ship, it's completely useless. What if there are friendly ships trying to stealth in radar range? You've just ruined their plans. Yes, in a long game it means you can reach the last bit of the game with the enemy radar ships out of radars. Is that worth it? How much health have you traded to bait those radars? I mean, there are some benefits, but it also means risking your ship for a small advantage. In many cases, no, it's not worth it. If I think it's worth it, I do it. Because, unlike what you think, I already know about that tactic. I've said it many times, so why do you keep repeating it? *This post has been edited by the moderation team due to disrespectful comments.

Radar and Tier V & VI

Fair enough. I find that opening fire often means the opponents will get overconfident (usually an enemy DD somewhat closer than the cruiser), and I'm used to kiting and shooting at the same time. Works for me; might not work for others. No, it's just that people don't realise what they're actually saying. And, like you, don't realise what I'm saying. Where did I literally say, the other team is pushing offensively? The radar ship is probably camping behind an island. There are plenty of those near the caps where you can't shoot and can't be shot. I said that exact thing in one of these threads; I don't want to repeat every single argument in every single thread. But that's not even the point. The point it that just the threat of radar causes people to play more passively. It doesn't even matter that the radar ship is 15 km away. That's still going to cause players to play more passively.

Radar and Tier V & VI

Actually, while spotted by radar there's no reason not to shoot. However, just don't shoot for too long time, since you should stop so you drop from detection once the radar ends. If it's a Russian radar, you probably shouldn't shoot, since the duration isn't that long, and you'll stay lit longer if you shoot, but if it's an American radar, you can shoot a couple of salvos, unless you're at the edge of the radar range. Of course it's not a camping tool. It just promotes campy gameplay by encouraging DDs to play defensively, and everyone else will follow suit. If DDs don't push, no one will, the odd yolo aside. And saying "nothing prevents..." isn't an argument. Nothing prevents BBs from following close behind their DDs, but is that what you see in matches, or do you see them camping as far back as their range allows? So you play in a way people call out as a tactical error, and you try to imply that's in any way a normal way of playing? Why would you use an exception as an example for how things normally are? It's like saying, "Hey, I push in my BBs all the time, so there's no campy meta with sniping battleships in WoWs at all."
  6. Those I read on Danbooru. That one in particular is found here, which is just a link to the artist (and it's sorted from newest to oldest). If you're new, that's one thing, but if you've got a level 100 ship, you're just a kuso teitoku.

Radar and Tier V & VI

While I do agree that radars are stupid and needs to git gone, I find the radar cruisers so rare for T5 ships it's not really much of an issue. Minekaze is also reasonably fast and nimble. And this is why radar promotes passive gameplay and makes the game worse. People encourage anyone facing radar to camp harder. It might not be what's meant, but it is the effect.

    Which IJN DD line?

It's not really a gunboat line and a torpedo line, and I think WG has made some comment about it. And if anything, Kagero is more similar to Shiratsuyu than Akatsuki (which is more similar to both Fubuki and Hatsuharu). Great concealment, 2x4 torps, TRB. Akizuki isn't similar to anything at all. The only other actual gunboat IJN has is Tachibana at T2, and that's a premium. You should only really get Akizuki if you can get a specialised captain for her. Since she's so different, you need a specialised captain who won't do very well on any other IJN DD. A Mogami captain is probably the most similar (mainly because you have the same T4 skills, CE and IFHE), but there are naturally some other differences there.

    RADAR

It's not vague. With hydro, it's extremely easy to avoid torpedoes. If you can't, you're either driving a battleship and you get unlucky, or the torpedo spread is just that tight, which is more a matter of random torpedo dispersion than any skill in aiming. Not counting those players who can't dodge torps detected half a minute earlier.

    RADAR

I think the major one was at the time when the German battleships were introduced. Before that, it was as you say usually about 4 per team. After that it's consistently been 5, with some exceptions for various quests, or odd times of the day. However, it might not sound like much, but when you have 3-5 BBs per game, it's a very different experience than if you consistently have 5.
  12. I hope that Kagero went to A and capped alone, while sending a few torpedoes inwards. Nah, it's not that bad. North is simply a crap map, with a singular, if thick, line of separation between the teams to camp behind. Personally I think it's fun to go to A on Trap in a DD, since there are so many ships standing still you can torp all day.

    RADAR

Okay, so you really don't know what you're talking about. I'm out.
  14. If you accidentally go to the next node (it happens), just close the game. That cancels the sortie. You only start the next battle if you choose a formation for it. Going into night battles is safe, though, since that's still the same node. Pretty much. There's a lot of waiting. That's one reason to keep a larger fleet, since you can switch in other ships meanwhile. You can then rotate the dock spots once they get clear during times you're not actively playing the game. And yeah, don't use the repair buckets unless it's during events, or if you have a lot of them and you those 18-hours times that shows up later.

    RADAR

No. The argument that radarships needs special MM means radarships are not balanced with other ships. If just adding a consumable to a ship makes it so different that you need to mirror it, it's simply not balanced with anything else. That's what it means in itself; no twisting needed. It's one of the arguments I use for why the game would be better balanced without radars. So you're saying that's what happens in every game where there are no radars? It's easy to see where you got this theory from. You made it up, since it's not something that actually happens in the game when there's no radar. That goes for all of your scenarios without radar. They're just not what happens when there's no radar, and the proof is there in the game. It wasn't World of DDs before radar was introduced, so why would it be that if you remove radars? The strongest tool against flanking DDs are RL and after that CVs and other DDs. Radar doesn't impact flanking much at all, but it does affect capping. So why has the game become campier since the introduction of radars? Why is the game significantly campier in higher tier games where there's radar? Radar promotes a campier gameplay, not the other way around. So no, that's not the conclusion. It's just something you make up. So why are you still talking?
  16. AnotherDuck

    RADAR

You're making stuff up about my motivation. You're trying to twist it into something that's explicitly against what I say just so your pet theory holds up. But it doesn't, since it's all in your mind. No, that's not an equal argument. MM works fine without considering specific DD nations. Radars and DDs are bananas and apples. They're not the same thing, they don't affect the game in the same way, and you're not using the argument in the same way. The argument for radars is that they're there, and they make the game worse. They make the game more stale just by being there. A lot of people also say CVs make the game worse, in their current implementation, so that's a somewhat more apt comparison. DDs don't make the game worse. Removing them would make the game worse. Or are you suggesting that the existance of DDs is a major complaint? You're just looking for a wording that on the surface looks like a similar argument, but once you dig down even a little bit, you find that they're not comparable. As for the rest, please write in English. I have enough trouble interpreting what you mean as it is. If you don't want me to call you out on your bullcrap, don't say so much bullcrap.
  17. Totally planned of course. I totally didn't just throw all I had at Nagananami's kai ni just because it looked awesome.
  18. Ah, so that's what it is. Those icons look so similar. I used what I had on Nagananami. Well, let's see if I can get another one. Don't think I've done that quest yet. I'm a bit behind on quests.

    RADAR

So you're making stuff up to have an argument. If you don't make stuff up, you don't have an argument. So just because I don't agree with your bullcrap, the point of arguing is futile? Well, then don't have a bullcrap opinion. Problem solved. I mean, all you say is, "just because you argue that doesn't mean it's true". That's a non-argument. I can just as easily say that to you. Just because you say what you say doesn't mean you're right. If you don't understand that, there's no point in arguing. Except that you're comparing apples and bananas. Sure, you can argue that, but as you said, that doesn't mean you're right. It's a skewed argument on unequal basis. I don't think MM needs to consider DD roles, so that point is irrelevant. I can play a DD role in a Fiji if I need to. Don't tell me that's better suited for the role than some Russian DDs.

    Fiji, my new favorite ship.

Each to their own, but I think those two ships play very similarly. Fiji is one of the best ships in the game, tier for tier. Counting silver ships, because of WG's P2W policy. Leander isn't weak, but not particularly strong either.

    RADAR

Yes, I have a problem with how radar affects the game. That's what I've been saying all along. Haven't you been reading what I've written? I don't have much of a problem dealing with radars in DDs myself. If that's what you're saying, you really haven't been reading what I've written. Compared to the number of times I've been in a game with uneven DD distribution, I hear very little complaints about it. I also see those complaints only at the beginning of the match, not throughout or at the end. Unlike complaints about radars or CVs. So no, I don't see it as a huge problem, either personally or what I've seen other complain about.

    RADAR

CVs are a bad example for your point and a good example for my point. They're not balanced like other ships, so therefore they require special matchmaking. They also have a strong tendency to completely dictate who wins the battles. As I said, most people want them to be completely reworked. A lot of people also want them gone from the game, because as they are right now, they just don't work well. Radar at best needs to be reworked. My preferred solution is removing them. Making them less mountain-penetrating would help. Making the radar ship light up for all ships in radar range would also help. Sonar should work like that as well. I don't really have that much of a problem if there are different types of DDs in the teams, so there's absolutely no need to remove them even by my argument as misinterpreted by you. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Depends a lot more on the individual players. Mirrored matchmaking makes the game more stale, and that's what you want. Then again, you also want radar, which makes the game more stale, so I suppose you at least have a consistently stale taste. Personally I want a more dynamic game, and radar sits in the way of that. It hinders more than it helps.
  23. We have an update. Personally I really like Asashimo, as usual. In particular since her damaged CG is happier than her normal one. Murasame has her kai ni. Sadly, I've used way too many blueprints lately (seemingly every single new kai ni requires them) and been too lax in farming new ones. Either way, she looks awesome. We also have a very leggy Tatsuta. Makes me tempted to remodel her. I still have her at base, since that's cheaper than her kai, and she's usually in one of the expedition fleets. Isuzu also has a relatively early AACI (Anti-Air Cut-In), which makes her invaluable for low-level fleets. Basically, if you have AACI you have a much easier time against CVs. Isuzu's AACI isn't particularly strong, but it's very consistent and therefore reliable. Maya's awesome as well, but more requires a higher level. Coincidentally, my Maya is also level 94. Shigure's 96. My highest is Poi, though, at 164. Less than one level to max. Then again, the last level requires half a million experience.

    The Amagi Wiggle

Amagi is on the other hand very strong in brawls. Her armour works very well there, and her agility makes it easier to make those closer turns. And if you only face one battleship (or if they shoot simultaneously), you turn quickly enough that you can often turn away during the reload to avoid your broadside eating too much.
  25. Welcome to the game! First of all, if you're not already doing it: Lock your girls and their equipment. Cannot be overstated. Second of all, never, ever continue to the next node if any ship is damaged to red. If you have damecon, that's possible, but that's something to save for events or possibly very tricky forced-composition quests. In the beginning, I find it more useful to spend most materials on sorties. That way you'll quickly build up the forces you have (levels help with hit rate and dodging, and obviously needed for remodels), and you'll get to later maps where you get better drops. Use the duplicates (and ships you don't want to keep) for modernisation. Never scrap ships unless it's for that quest, or if you don't have any more ships to modernise (which probably won't happen for a very long time). 1-4 doesn't need CVs, but they certainly help. If you get a fleet consisting mainly of cruisers you're probably going to do fine, especially if you've managed to get them modernised a bit. If you get a CV, try to craft a few planes. The stock ones suck. Otherwise, you don't need to craft that much. If you've got extra resources, go ahead and craft some radars or ASW equipment. It's usually best to try to craft things you don't have at all rather than upgrades of what you already have. Planes aside. Once you beat that, world 2 has fair bit better drops from the boss nodes, but you need decent AA. You'll sometimes get CVs and BBs. And as mentioned, 1-5 has sub drops, as well as CVLs and AVs. It's a very farmable map. If you don't want to inflate your HQ level too much, return before the boss. I've not found it to be that much of an issue, though. For the expeditions, 2 gives buckets and 6 gives bauxite. Those two resources you won't get too much of. Expeditions 3 (if you can refresh regularly) and 5 are overall good for resources.
