For me it depends all on the rewards of the other 23 phases.. ( phase 5 being T2 dd ( aka1.2 m credits), phase 15 Yahagi ( 4 k doub) and phase 26 Hizen. And the amount of grind required. If it’s rather easy to get to 15 for example but the efforts beyond that goes up ( the missions become so much more troublesome) I will not spend money or effort to get towards phase 26.Especially if it comes that you have to buy more then 4 phases since actually completing 22 on your own is unlikely. Although must praise WG that atleast for Odin and Anchorage the grind was doable with a fair timetable. Although this with a wide scope of available ships in port, other may struggle with less lines researched. As for Strassbourg and the other campaign that gives T5 and camo’s I suspect that it’s like last year in that you need the Strasbourg unlocked first in the dedicated campaign. Which will probably only be possible after some weeks of time locked missions. Time remaining for the second campaign ( the T5 ships+ camp) will be short. I am only interested in Strasbourg not that much in these T5 ships so that would not be a problem. My tactics depending on the heaviness of both grinds ( Strassbourg and Hizen ( up to phase 15 ): If both Strassbourg campaign and Phase 15 are doable: wallet mostly closed. If snowflakes are nice I might spend some doubloons back on some Santa crates. if Strassbourg is a bit hard, but easy missions are available in that if you already have Strassbourg it becomes way more trivial I might buy the ship ( if available in a bare bone package). The doubloon refund when finishing the Strassbourg campaign will be considered a cashback. The earlier opening of the second campaign due to owning Strassbourg to get the T5’s is a compensation prize. If Strassbourg only available in a fat package filled with b.s. this might be the cheapest WG Xmas ever. So cheap: Snowflakes, Strassbourg from campaign and 4 k from Yahagi + all the smaller rewards earned along. Money used: money spent to buy Strassbourg ( T7 BB so 35 euro?), doubloons earned back for Strassbourg and Yahagi, T5 campaign finished ( silver gained) + smaller rewards + snowflakes. Main question: how tough are the missions and how much does having Strassbourg earlier make the grind more friendly?

Comparison of "Snowflakes 2018" and "Snowflakes 2019" to upcoming "Snowflakes 2020"...

How does a small Santa container hold up against a SC? Seems that small Santa’s have an abysmal ship drop as well, give regular flags but way less doubloons and premium time. First glance at last year drop results gave me the idea small Santa container < SC... Ig WG made it the medium type container that would be something else.. -

I am afraid you need the Strassbourg to start the 2nd campaign with the silver ships and camo’s. Like in earlier years. So you would either be pushed to get Strassbourg for money with the bonus that you get an immediate bonus for starting campaign directly and most probably an easier way to push through the original Strassbourg campaign so you can get the doubloons back for earning her again. If you want Strassbourg for free you have a tougher grind and almost no time left to start let alone finish the other campaign. -
When you report in advance all players before the battle starts you get a discount like when you buy dockyard doubloon boosts in advance

New Ships, Camos, and New Year Dockyard Event
Jvd2000 replied to DanSilverwing's topic in General Discussion
So around 8 k doublouns for Hizen. Maybe less if there is a small discount ( mentioned during stream) if you buy x number of phases with doubloons at the start of the event. For a Yahagi owner the net cost will be 4 k less ( although that’s not fair since I would have 4K extra instead of -4K) but I am a bit grind tired. So actually might, depending on the level of grind, just settle with just completing 15 parts to get that 4 k doubloons and the goodies received in other parts. There will a temporary campaign for the Strassbourg plus an additional one to get regular T5’s with perm camo. In earlier years you need a certain premium to unlock that second campaign ( for the T5+ camo’s) that either you had the grind the hard way ( leaving almost no time to do the grind for the T5 campaign) or buy it directly. Think that ship is Strassbourg. So while the days you have for these missions is 2 full patches it’s the split of multiple goals that you have to pay attention to. Depending if progress is good due to overlapping mission tasks or not makes the part of grinding doable, tough or a real fight where you are grinding in a way that’s the most effective instead of playing the game for fun. And then knocking off snowflakes with ships that are not actually suitable for your tasks. My fear: required expenses to make the grind possible for 80% of playerbase with the wish to enjoy some familytime: 1.premium time needed for 3 missions at the same time + bonus on the xp, silver etc grind. 2.Then “ have’ to buy Strassbourg. Maybe doubloon refund after you unlock her as a prize. 3. Then a minimum of 4 phases you have to buy. Maybe more depending on the sanity of the grind. My plan based on what we know now. Focus on snowflakes ( free) Focus on phase 15 ( Yahagi thus 4 k doubloons) if it can be reached by playing regular. The monetary value of 4K is not worth working for me. Strasbourg campaign maybe my mostly focused ship. Not interested in the T5’s so will not rush her progress. Hope this one is grindable. The T9 perm camo rewards that are somewhere in the mix ( most possible as a phase reward) might be a point of attention if again grindable in a fair way. -
New Ships, Camos, and New Year Dockyard Event
Jvd2000 replied to DanSilverwing's topic in General Discussion
Did not expect the T5 to be the pre-rebuilt version. Sure 3 more 305 ( 13 in total) vs 10 320. Guilio Cesare will be so much faster though. Doubt that Conte di C. will match GC. The silverline T6 will match GC more in capabilities but at a tier higher. -
Marco Polo T9 Italian premium BB announced

Georgia is fun. Absurde high speed, good accurate guns that hit hard, fun secondaries. You need how to position with this ship though. When I think about crap coal ships Georgia is not one of them. -
Black friday, and why buying containers seems detrimental to me.
Jvd2000 replied to Iskarioth's topic in General Discussion
When you gamble for black ships you take the benefit that they often come at a discount compared with their normal counterparts. When you try rng Black loot boxes you have the advantage that only a select number of rather high tier ships can drop. Once more a better chance compared towards random loot boxes of the regular ship type that can drop lowly T5’s. So buying black versions have all the benefits money wise..... but that comes at a price that players prefer to forget...you can loot the regular version too getting you an identical ship. So either you really love the black camo or you want to benefit from the relative better deals on black ships. But don’t blame WG to get a duplicate regular ship. It’s part of the deal when you put money into the black version. I have many premiums but none of them are black. So zero chance to get a duplicate with another color. -
Well you don’t spend all 18.000 on the camo but the first 12.000 on 3 camo and flags packages.. So 6000 tokens is a perm camo for a rather meh ( I am nice here for the Kansas)T8 boat or 6 million in credits or x number of flags or some patches. Willl keep the Kansas and just wait for it to receive the Hawkings treatment ( receiving further buffs in each update)..
-
You need 12.000 tokens to complete the first 3 packages ( with camo and flags). If you complete all regular missions you finish with 12.900 tokens. After that the 4th package becomes available for 6000 tokens. So, assuming you did not spend tokens on other rewards, you need atleast 5100 tokens from the combined weekend missions completed. Mind that if you had longer missions you would have needed them finished too since you mostly need the final reward of 1050 tokens for completing the entire mission set. So if I look at my current position. I have the Kansas ( having finished 5 of the 4th week mission set) And get the tokens from 2 weekly missions. I still need to finish one of the remaining week 4 mission to assure the required 4th package with the perm camo. So either 500k dmg with Kansas or 85 scout and caps with a dd. If WG throws another weekly mission in this weekend it becomes easier for people who missed some tokens.
-
yes, the only time I am actually happy to see a cv: Red team, bot and in co-op. Opportunity to kill planes for missions. Delay time for co op to end to get things like cap, farm exploration dmg etc.. The only time I actually “ missed” cv’s is the lack of opportunity to get things “ done” in co-op when they were temporarily out of business.

PSA: don't forget to upgrade your new American BBs
Jvd2000 replied to Verblonde's topic in General Discussion
Well received my Kansas today. Positive point was that the final mission part only required 5 sub missions to be completed in stead of the normal 6 required. So atleast this sub line was introduced without RNG to get pre access to a T8 ( the Kansas). Missions were doable. If WG communicated clearer and earlier regarding the extra bonus weekend token missions maybe more players would have had a chance to save their tokens for the 5th part to get the perm camo for the Kansas too. So with a small deduction point for communication WG gave us a T8 and the attached perm camo for a doable grind of a new research line... and without the need to draw your wallet...unlike earlier pre releases..And without rng token drops etc.. So some congratulations for WG for that. That only leaves the fact that this line is at best meh... Will play Kansas some coop times to get the last 400 tokens for that mission, make up my mind and just keep it in port ( won’t sell, don’t need the silver, port space) and just have another ship in port for the typical snowflake event.. and like the regular dd lines that I stopped at T8 ( after grinding the modules though)but still managed to progress in xp halfway towards T9 by playing them in coop for missions etc maybe I will also reach Minnesota in due time...but not soon. -
I won this ship from a SC from last anniversary snowflake event. Well it’s was free for me and my expectations receiving gifts from a SC were zero so any Premium was great. Well never would have bought this ship and after playing it would not advice people to buy it. Will keep Cheshire greatly thankfull in port for future snowflake events and for comfort that it will not drop for me again since I already own this boat.

Yes, got the “ hard” mission now after already finishing the easy one. Mission requirements are both quite easy without need to pick the easy one at all.

Different missions and different rewards, WG strikes once again
Jvd2000 posted a topic in General Discussion
Just found out that after the different "daily rewards" for players we now also receive different missions with different token rewards. Some players receive one set of missions, some others the other. Seems random. One set consists of a 3 part mission the other out of 5 parts. While the 5 part mission gives a higher total reward it requires a lot more BXP. And the highest reward is gained by reaching the final reward for completing all the individual missions. So while the "long chain"offers a 600 tokens more, you need to double your BXP efforts.. I rather be rewarded with the easy mission and let WG keep the last 600 tokens.. -
My main point was that I did not get offered any mission in the first place. I started wows and did not get any message that I received this secret mission. So I had to get back to the forum and use the hyperlink provided in the first comment. That worked. Atleast I got a mission by going around WG new way of business by excluding players from content. So my disappointment is not getting the wrong mission but getting no offers to any mission at all.
-
Atleast you got the mission, I had to use your hyperlink to get the difficult mission which ended up by getting the easy mission and the easy rewards..

Daily Shipments still flooding in?
Jvd2000 replied to Karasu_Browarszky's topic in General Discussion
But we, the chosen ones, get something too.. Each day, for the entire period, instead of some small gift we get a BIG middlefinger from WG to remind us that we were proudly selected as unworthy.... -
Weekly Combat Missions: Even More Rewards
Jvd2000 replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Depending on which set of mission you get ( again depending on WG secret looking at your activity last week) you get between 2k and 3 k extra tokens. If you play regularly with this event and get the Kansas you get enough tokens to get the first 3 packages of camo’s and flags. Then you need another 6k tokens for the permanent Kansas camo.... So with the extra mission last week and this week you might get close / get that 4 th package. With maybe another mission chain next week the permanent package might be well reachable. But if you wasted/ spend your tokens before on smaller gifts you are out of luck.. If you go out full max you might even get some progress towards the 5th package. That’s another 7k tokens for even more flags and speedbump for the more rewarding but even more expensive rewards...but that will need buying tokens... The Florida beyond for 20k tokens...only for money....buying directly would be cheaper...or you are dedicated to rng farm for the Minnesota... Me, knowing WG good communication skills, always keep my tokens to the last moment or directly spend them on the main prize chain if there is atleast some chance on making good progress. -

Recommend me a Tier VIII premium cruiser
Jvd2000 replied to StarbuckTheThird's topic in General Discussion
This, my first ever bought premium. Being a noob then and forking ( big) money for a high tier ( when I was playing T5/6) I was failing big time in her initial ly. But I started to get better and my love and competence grew after each game played. Yes she has her setbacks like long reload, poor aa( well does not matter anymore) and trolling armor ( will it be a bounce or a RIP). But unlike the feeling of WG introducing better premiums and replacing the old has not really hit Atago. Mainz: miss heal, more dpm, somehow also a bit armored. One of the other ok ships ( and being German that means a lot since WG and German premiums not always go fine) Prinz Eugen: has heal, but dpm is quite meh. To compensate it is the only T8 cruiser that has an extra 50% captain xp bonus on its standard camo...that’s says all... P. Bagration: fine ship but a bit boorish. Have heal and some really mean torps but lacks utility.AP is murderous. Ochakov: mini Smolensk wannebee. Don’t.. Kutuzov: not available, has nice dpm, smoke is good if you don’t run into radar. Cheshire: mediocre.. you hit hard and burn but DPM is low and you don’t tank well. Heal is great though but only against fire dmg Irian: if spamming DW torps your thing and you take care of not coming pink maybe. Less ideal as captain trainer. Bayard: ok, but rather high skill level. Wichita: standard US heavy cruiser. Missing the heavy AP though. Standard US CA utility team player. Anchorage: current dockyard event. -
Reseting a Tech Line: What happen with the accumulated experience ?
Jvd2000 replied to neorvo's question in Q&A Section
Well the benefit of xp transferring to the Tier 1 atleast makes the research towards the Tier2 easy... Resetting is more a credit then FXP grind since you get refunded at 50% but have to rebuy ships for full prize -
His fault was buying the Black version the first place. When you deliberately buy a Black version because you like the color or the fact that it is offered slightly cheaper ( esp by the Black Friday rng lootboxes) compared to their normal counterparts you ALSO buy the risk that you might get the original too as a duplicate somewhere down the line. So the ofset of having it cheaper comes with a risk. So don’t come crying afterwards... Only buy regular ships and don’t bother with the Black versions ( atleast not acquiring them with money) so you never risk to get a duplicate. It’s bad that there is a Marblehead Lima in the pool, otherwise staying regular saves you from getting duplicates.

KOTS T7 reward container, delaying your completion on purpose strategy
Jvd2000 posted a topic in General Discussion
This weekend we can receive our 16 th KOTS container needed to complete our collection and thus receive the random T7 reward container. Since you receive an item that is most likely a duplicate you will need to buy the missing item on a one for one basis. But this leads to the possibility to time the moment you receive that T7 crate. Assuming that WG updates the possible drops from that container when semi new released premiums get added to the possible drops you might / might not want to hold on the moment when you make the gamble. We have some new T7’s recently released that probably might not yet be included in the current drop. Looking at München and Florida. Strassbourg might be added in the period between now and the next KOTS. As maybe the “ coal” Flint. Currently I only have Poltava and California as options bit I might fancy Florida or Strassbourg more. Flint will be bought before by coal if only for the reason that it will be liquidated from the pool. But I can also end up with München which is from a mere doubloon value less inspiring. Wonder if other players are trying to min max their free ship.
