You forgot the 2 better options. Sommers, since it will be gone soon ( if you have collection habits you might want to secure the ship) Bourgogne, the most fun steelship. A not nerfed Alsace with good accuracy, range and good pen for 15”. And a reload booster to punish hard when you find a broadside enemy. Stalingrad is a one trick ( but very good) pony which can be replaced in gamestyle with Petro. Current captain change is also quite harsh on supercruisers... Shishima is not much better then Yamato ( but a moot point since you don’t have the ship) and the extra pen might become usefull with the current deadeye meta...although its extra secondary bonus is worth less..she also is the most expensive of the steel BB/ cruisers. Choice between 6 shots or 12 shot salvo with mobility and reload on Bourgogne side and ranged pen and overmatch on Shikis.

I think it’s a benefit that you can repurpose captan xp lingering in unused low point captains..formerly you dismissed them with nothing in return. Now it’s an option to get some cxp back. Since you can buy a 6 point captain for credits having captains in port with less points unneeded. Ditched a lot of 3 point captains for 2k cxp for a whole 20k silver.... If you are using doubloons for conversion you are to blame for being enough to do it... not WG offering it... as for readily available credits it’s a good option. And an improvement since this option was not available. And that extra cxp funds your retraining and replacing of your captains...

I welcome that WG gives away “ free premiums” that unlike before are not just event ships but also former regular premiums by either making them available for coal or as a prize in an event. But....that puts a strain on the eagerness of buying such ships.. Ok there is around a 3 year minimum timelap between release for cash and free availability but still..that then requires you to buy only newly released ships and not those that are a few years old.. I know that fe the newest coal ships ( Lazo and DoY) were initial available free in an event. That makes it less awkward to see them demoted to free currency ships. So far the Anshan has never been free, until recently being“ demoted” to a coal ship. I understand that WG tries to prevent a coal —> doubloon swap but mere credits ( edit: post above states 5.5 m which is higher then expected) is not really motivating. And giving coal might be difficult and might anger other players that have so much coal that they even might prefer credits.. Maybe solution is to give some extra silver ( to buy the required modules) or / and a 10 point captain with some bonus cxp ( since he need to be retrained onto a silver line ship). Just to make the deal somewhat better?

Poll regarding your success in the Xmas campaigns At the start of the campaigns there was some discussion about how much progress could be done. Especially if the time after getting Strasbourg through the campaign ( not buying) was enough to also get the free T5’s.

I feel a bit bothered too...I kept a lot of ships ( well almost all) and thus have a lot of “just fine”captains from minimum 10 points up to 14. Seems that that minimum 10 point on a dd does no longer cut it...Used to be the number of enemies targeting you skill, last stand, either faster pew pew or torp reload and CE. For 10 points you are getting less then before... Yes I had some spare low captains that I could dismiss and get some CXP back....But with 200 plus silver ships...My 800k cxp does not even get me one 21 skill captain. It seems to feel as a lot of fuss and discomfort with at best case zero improvement for me as player and most likely actual loss of enjoyment.

Taking my first look. Already have doubts about the skills that are “ promoted” as being smart to pick. HP buff for cruisers perk is wise? Went for the total reset of all captains ( will doublecheck if captains in reserve get reset as well) But this is not cool...luckily have all my snowflakes reset and will only play the minimum type of ships and keep most of my captains unspecced ( or play and unspecced after play) until the dust settles. Until then minimum play ( 30 days to get Yahagi, WG can keep the credits for Anshan)..

I see the current changes with German BB’s 2nd guns with both range and accuracy as a buff since I tend to play the German BB’s preferably in tank build. Now secondaries unbuffed are fireworks with any dmg done is an unreliable bonus. Now with increased accuracy and a few 100 meters base extra range and the existing inbuilt German pen, secondary damage on tank build German BB’s just became a bit more better. I expect them to be as effective as a Georgia/ Ohio without any secondary buff with a strong German bonus with some extra range and the German pen.

I really like the Alsace. I bought the permanent camo for it and it was the one tier of the French BB I replayed completely for the research bureau regrind. Having the same ship but then with the “ premium” bonus might be interesting.... But then being fake pan Asian with “speshul “ camo ( although I think you can hide it) is a big no go for me. But I also wonder what you pay extra to make the regular free Alsace into a pan Asian premium..

Looking at this overview. High dmg ( but which part of that is healable HE dmg) and the lowest hit ratio..if you guess about FdG being bufffed recently and not yet showing. The pain for Lion is that WG has to limit the HE carnage that a Lion can do to dd’s and cruisers with an accuracy nerf...and having unreliable main guns is the most frustrating attribute imo. You are not rewarded for playing good... and your tanking setup is also long range based. Your heal prefers long range HE damage taken but not close range citadel damage..which you will take if you are found in a bad situation. So as a Lion player you are guided into long range HE farming ( with the new captain skill promoting the accuracy buff since you have a good concealment) not having a direct immediate influence in the battle.

Might see Odin and Anchorage returned in Santa crates next year. Like some other ships that went out of shop. Requires exceptional luck or a big wallet before these ships drop after you get all the Makarov, Yudachi’s etc... It was announced that some special ships will not be available in next years Santa loot boxes like the GC and the Kamikaze trio. Maybe they will be replaced by former DY ships. As for PR... might be gone like Smolensk and soon the T10 Swedish FXP dd. But then, I will also never get my hands on Arkansas or Iwaki.

Well t can be done in 9 days, if you are really fast to get the 14 stars and then the 20k bxp. I needed slightly more then 1 day to get the last mission unlocked and will take my time to get Strasbourg. I bought the Strasbourg so I steadily unlocked the missions when I had space on my 3 campaign slots.. Doing them in 7 days can be done, but requires some time spent. Furataka is an easy get if you did some preform. T22 is doable to. Beyond that needs dedication.

You can be reported for more then just abusive language. You can also be reported for being unsportive, playing poorly or being afk. Its just the whim of the reporting player what he decides to pick if he is being upset for....whatever he/she decides to be be p*ssed of for. Being in a cv is reason for some players to be petty. All these options have no consequence execpt for killing your Karma.. The only report, as you said, that might have a consequence is when they specificaly report you for abusive language...But then the auto system should kick in to check if you even said something during the match..So you should be save for a ban. Maybe WG should making false reports punishable...

Bought Strasbourg and finished phase 3 yesterday and am 3 stars short for the final mission to unlock the New York. For star collecting to get the Strasbourg i am focussing on 3 missions ( DMG, 12 times top 5 and BB dmg). Unfortunaly this does not really covers the requirements for this weeks Hizen grind. Will need to do either the Hizen DD and cruiser mission afterwards...But the moment i unlock the final BXP mission i have finish my New York mission and then focus on either the cruiser or DD mission for phase 4 of the Hizen. Timeframe is rather friendly. Will take 3 days for unlocking Strasbourg stars (busy at work so only limited time) another 3 or 4 days for final mission and finishing other campaign. Hizen timetable is even more friendly. edit: after one evening I am 6 stars short with all 3 missions for the remaining stars halfway. Guess 1 hour max. Then 20 k BXP.. The Hizen missions are for the first time a bit grindier though.

Happy new year, I am in the same bind. Although not yet the luxurious position regarding that many trained 19 pointers.. Have a tank build 19 pointer on GK, have a semi special 16 pointer on Hindenburg and a 16 pointer sec spec on Bismarck. Other ships have between 10 and 14 pointers. Have multiple premiums in all 4 shiptypes so that Luntjes could be an added value. Think that Luntjes is best used in either a sec spec BB or a quick firing cruiser to get those 100 hits. Since secondary spec German BB might be gutted next patch I might think to place him on the Hindenburg using his added bonuses on Mainz and maybe München ( Prinz Eugen might lack the rof to unlock the bonus). Then the BB 2nd specced Lutjens can be used on the premium German BB’s...Although I have all my German BB’s except Bismarck equipped with non secondary modules. From what I remember his DD bonus is quite meh. Don’t know how he can positively help premium cv’s. Although he might be a fun build for your secondary specced Graf Zeppelin. So basically: Put him on the silver line cruiser Hindenburg. He can then use his skills on Mainz, PE and München ( German light cruisers don’t need IFHE so that suits Hindenburg build fine) As for the premium German Supercruisers...the new build makes him less suitable unfortunately. For his BB set you can then spec him for secondary ( even if that becomes more meme now). Idem for German DD’s and maybe a sec specced Graf Zeppelin.

Ships I actually paid money for. From good to bad 1.P. Bagration: solid ship ( but a bit motivated to buy it due to the bonus it gave during the Russian CA event) but for a semi event ship quite good. 2. Mainz bought from crates with German event, the ship I wanted. Got it after meh rng for actually the normal prize.. But got an added bonus with it ( see no 4) 3. Makarov. Bought it this year for the 200% bonus and because it was rare ( it was then) 4. Z-xx ( the T7) side drop from the Mainz crate loot hunt. Dockyard ships, still paid money and was a choice since you can opt out 1.Odin 2. Anchorage Free currency 1. Thunderer 2. Bourgogne 3. Ohio 4/5Marceau ( just for the extra SC anniversary) & Yoshino ( bought for the extra Xmas container) And then a lot of free ships handed out during events ( Oklahoma, Mikoyan, London) Effort was required. Opinion goes from meh to awfull and to be played during snowflake events only. Xmas Satan boxes paid. 20 medium ones. 1.California 2/3 Siliwangi and Z-xx ( the t8) not yet bothered to play. Free loot from sc anniversary: Cheshire..no comment.

The second campaign does not really have a final super reward. Each phase gives you one ship. The first reward T5 ( Furataka) can be unlocked by playing Strassbourg once...you probably want to do that for the coal snowflake anyway. Even if you have only 9 days left (minus the time to finish the last phase of the Strasbourg ) you might finish one or two parts of the T5 campaign. Hard grinders might succeed in getting them all. Its a ( nice) bonus, nothing more. Depends on the player to put in the work after getting Strasbourg ( and getting the last phase of Strasbourg fast).

I wonder if outright buying the Strassbourg is a good deal if you are low on Doubloons ( and wish to get some new doubloons) and buy your doubloons indirectly by buying the ( cheapest) Strasbourg bundle ( instead of a comparable doubloon bundle) and get your doubloons refunded the moment you finish the campaign. You do then have the benefit of having access to the 2nd campaign in a much more friendly time schedule.

Used this week easy missions requirements and the extra free days due to Xmas to focus on the low tier ships first. Gave me some slack to play the less efficient tiers. Have only about 10 T6 and half T7’s to go and have kept my higher tiers snowflakes for the missions next weeks.

Not yet encountered a Hizen... bit disappointed since last year I met several PR from day one. And Hizen is “ cheap” compared to PR. Like with PR you had to buy 3 bundles for 24k doubloons (?) and even then either had to grind, wait until natural progress ended or buy the final completion fee directly..because finishing the first 3/ 4 phases with PR was hard. You would buy Gorizia to make them doable. With Hizen you can buy the first 15 steps with a huge discount for less then 15k and then buy the 11 remaining ones for 1950 a piece... and the missions are not that hard even..so you might even grind some of them... Maybe this the reason I have hardly seen them...even whales will grind some phases...

Yahagi also has very long range torpedoes ( especially for her tier) that makes firing them very dangerous for both enemy and allies. She has some “ pink” potential...

The good guys are farming in coop. Seen purple divisions farming bots before the rest of the team even left spawn area...

You can’t pass the Final task of the first mission chain to progress towards the second series since that mission requires the Strasbourg. Sure you can collect stars by repeating earlier missions to open up that final mission but without Strassbourg you are stuck in phase one. Going the grind way ( earning the Strasbourg for free) leaves you with 9 days to finish the last chain of the original Strasbourg ( getting the required stars and then the final 20k bxp mission) AND then continue the second chain the moment you acquired the Strasbourg. While missions are not that hard that gives a somewhat time limited window to do it. Most of us will be working again in January. There is no drama from my side, Strasbourg campaign is the main price since it gives the T7 premium. The other event is imo a side event that has “nice to have things “ ( t5 silverships) but no real stress. If players want it they can sure complete it if they are dedicated in the remaining final 9 days. ( 9 days minus the days spend on finishing the last Strasbourg missions)

In addition, since this is the start week and the missions are still rather easy: if you have a lot of ships and are busy knocking of snowflakes try to start with your low tier V’s. Yes they are less efficient in dmg, xp etc but this week is the best to take that hit so when the grind gets real you can do the snowflake work and the increasing tougher missions with you higher and more capable tiers. Finished today with first 3 phases done and Final mission for Strassbourg unlocked ( with just 200k silver to go). First focused on dd’s with repeated Strasbourg mission 5 kills, 25 torp hits combined with the base xp mission. Did this together with the 400 dd torp dmg, spotting, xp for the DY etc. Just started by playing my T5 and T6 dd’s. Maybe not the best dmg but in co op it’s easy to get the kills and the torps.. Then went for the cruiser missions. Again started with the more spammy low tier cruisers.. Easy 400k dmg and 1200 hits.. Did not touch the BB ( with all these fast dd’s you don’t want to be a slow BB in coop)and CV missions for both Dockyard and Strasbourg campaign. Even did the first phase of the T5 silver campaign ( but further progress blocked due to no Strasbourg). Less then 4 hrs.
