It can, but it probably won't do that for the time period you were expecting (or at least that's how I interpreted your "years to come" part), at least not for demanding games. For current games that GPU is plenty enough for 4k 60fps. But give it two years and devs really exploiting the ray-tracing and it will probably look not so 60fps'y anymore.

65'' TV as display ... that's really not recommended. The reason why TVs are so big is because if you look at it from an average 3m away on a coach you need the size and with 3m out you won't be able to see miniscule details anyway so comparatively low ppi isn't much of an issue. But if you sit right next to it even a 4k resolution isn't going to look quite as sharp as you think it would compared to a much smaller display even with a smaller resolution. I mean, if you got that TV anyway use it if you want, but considering a single RTX 2080Ti really won't have the performance to keep your graphic quality at 4K/60fps on highest details for years to come in the long run (obviously depending on what games we're talking about) you might want to look at getting yourself a properly sized display. Opting for a smaller resolution would certainly help with graphics performance longevity (a WQHD display with an adequate display size will look pretty crisp, even compared to a 65'' 4K TV as prior experience, and the resolution is much easier on the graphics performance letting you milk that GPU for much longer whilst maintaining maximum graphics settings, plus you can go for the 21:9 ultrawide monitors for a bezel-free surround vision experience) or if you want to stick to 4K resolution then a smaller display is really going to show you just how sharp and detailed 4K resolution will look compared to an oversized TV with the same resolution. Do note all of the above is obviously a wee bit biased considering I'm a bit of a hardware afficionado (and personally looking to also build myself a new PC, though not nearly as beefy as yours).

You will want to use your Hood in the flagship position (middle spot in the backline) due to how her barrage works (you cover the most screen, thus deal the most damage, if you put her center). That in fact goes for basically every barrage ship. In other news: Third stage of the exchange shop cleared of all the important stuff. Now it's just collecting juicy tidbits and trying to get the gold Bulin from the final stage, weee! Going to put that HSFCR on my Hood of course. -

Had NC drop from the event lottery: Got all the event ships now, though obviously I'm going to try and empty the exchange (most certainly for the yet missing gold FCR). Also a bit curious as to what the next event would be, should be enough time to fit one major event between Halloween and what will most certainly be Christmas and New Year's later. Personally my bet would be on Winter's Crown (RN sheep gurlz) if only because winter, duh. Going to train up Washington, Minneapolis and Cleveland next. Actually thinking of using the 155mm HE on Cleveland instead of the 150mm Tbtks AP (I know, heresy) if only because I'm probably going to use the AP on Minneapolis and for PvE at least there seems little sense in having the entire frontline go AP since the vast majority of enemy ships in PvE are light armoured mobs (also the game is refusing to drop another Tbtks for me and I won't cannibalize Leander or Edinburgh for theirs ...). -
Should still exist, but is probably completely deserted by this point. Don't know about Discord, but WG have their own TS3 server you can meet up with people: 92.223.3.90:9989

Do what I'm doing and just take a break from WoWs. Haven't played WoWs for about two or three weeks now and it's positively refreshing. The other benefit is that I'm playing games I haven't touched in a while again and it's so much more fun, like recharging the enjoyment battery until I feel like playing WoWs again (probably when next clan battle season comes around, if only not to let clanmates down).

Except that this are events and ships from a game that has the exact same premise as the other two titles that are name-dropped in the thread title (and in case you can't tell, it's not World of Warships ...). Are you seriously throwing a hissy-fit over us discussing stuff from a game that isn't explicitely named in the opening post of a thread that's older than the game itself? And why? Because we're not posting enough girls for your taste?! You're girl is a tank girl though. So by your logic you should stay out of this thread and join the World of Tanks forum for that. So mellow out or bugger off and take that attitude along with you. -

For once a cruiser nerf I can get behind with raising the citadel on the Alaska a bit. That Irian however ... MK hull, one turret less and no smoke but it gets tier X PA DWTs with torpedo-reload booster? Wat? I mean, if WG wants to make PA CLs/CAs' shtick that they also get DWTs mkay, by all means knock yourselfes out with that idea even if it's only for the odd premium, but tier X DWTs (plus TRB) on a tier VIII ship? We get it, it's a russian ship but really WG, really? -

Oh no, how dare people discuss gameplay stuff of a game that has literally the same premise as the other two, truly the nerve of it! Better go spam "boring" reactions on every post now, that'll show everyone ... Mate, if all you want is ship girl babes then there's plenty other websites way more specialized for your needs, no point in playing the party pooper because we're actually discussing gameplay stuff. -

Avrora. I'll wait for the shop refresh and see if she shows up again. If not I'll try to find a way to contact support ... that's going to be a pain as far as I know. -

Weird, there's no reason why she wouldn't be available for me then ... Only explanation I can think of is that neither Eldridge or South Dakota actually have a permanent slot in the item rotation, but that wouldn't make much sense considering those two are THE mainprizes people would want to spend their merits on. -

Nope, if anything you want to fight them because they give the same loot as the boss fight (though North Carolina is still exclusive to the B3 boss drop). Washington is said to be an extremely good ship with excellent stats and a very neat timed barrage skill making her a very potent flagship BB. No idea about Minneapolis, though she looks pretty damn nice just reading through the skills (and apparently the stats are great too). Still leveling both passively so no firsthand experience using them yet. In other news, strangely South Dakota seems to have been removed from the merit shop. Eldridge is still available, so it can't be the shop not showing what I already got (have both and am damn glad I got South Dakota if she got pulled for real). -
What ship with Radar can I play in the lowest tier
Aotearas replied to Puffin_'s topic in General Discussion
Sadly that's about the only countermeasure you have to radar in its current state. As long as you're in radar range you'll get lit up for everyone to see at the press of a single button so the only way not to is not be anywhere near the radar. Knowing the radar ranges and where radar ships like to be helps in being closer to where you'd want to be whilst still being relatively safe, but that's about it. -

Mostly they're just bullet sponges with a crapton more HP than other grunt ships, plus the destroyer variant has an annoying zoning crossfire ability. -

Aotearas replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
I wouldn't say exactly that (hear me out on this). Concealment Expert providing greater bonuses to bigger ships made no logical sense whatsoever unless someone thought that having more to hide would make it more effective (and you got to be pretty damn stoned for that kind of mental gymnastics). That however doesn't excuse the hilarious base detection levels on ships that simply shouldn't have anywhere near as good detection ranges (duh). What this boils down to is simply it being the lazy, short term option. Why tinker with every single non-DD's concealment values when you can just change one number on a skill everyone takes anyway and call it a day after 5 minutes work? That this results in more potential balancing problems down the road where they're forced to adjust individual ships' detection values anyway is something WG has already proven themselves to not care about too deeply anyway. Or, if we're being slightly less cynical this could actually be the overture to a proper detection rebalancing by getting one of the most pervasive variables unified first and then see where else a loving hand is needed. Everyone feel free to take their personal pick of the two, I know what I'd be betting on -
Clans: Fight Against Another Region! - Discussion Thread

Also, please pass the bit about CET+1 not being a thing down the line to whoever is writing the UI descriptions. It's unnecessarily confusing, especially when Google shows you "common equity tier 1" and other financial investment stuff as results when searching for it. That would be nice. -

You're going to have to ask the person (@panos_abarth) who made the original complaint about that, because I'm not playing at the moment and won't be anytime soon enough to troubleshoot anything. -
Clans: Fight Against Another Region! - Discussion Thread
Aotearas replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Probably because whoever is supposed to flip the switch has no clue when CET+1 is supposed to be and all their Google searches result in financial investment articles. Because that's what happens when you just up and create new stuff instead of sticking to the actual adjusted timezone (which would be CEST) that's easy to find and convert to. Though why people haven't switched to using coordinated universal time (UTC) instead of juggling localized timezones denominations for such purposes which is MUCH easier to convert is beyond me. But I suppose that would make too much sense ... It's either that or more technical difficulties (again). My bet would be on screwed up time conversion though. -

Another bandaid balans ... why not finally tie radar detection to line of sight? Ship wants to radar pesky hidden DD? Go ahead, but you have to expose yourself ... no more hiding behind a big ole' island, pressing the magic button and violá. There's no good point to a radar meta that's just cruisers sitting behind islands near objectives/chokepoints with no way to uproot them from the position short of an overwhelming push (which obviously has its own risks running into an easily defendable position, plus lolrandoms and overwhelming push that isn't a lemmingtrain along the outskirts of the map). Currently there's only a teamwork benefit to the side using it, one guy pops the radar, everyone with a line of fire can take shots. If the radar ship would require a line of sight to use radar, it means the opposing team can at least counterplay by way of deterrence (not going to poke around cover with half the enemy team being able to shoot me) or active counterfire to kill the offending radar ship in response to the enemy team pounding their DD. And if pure line of sight results in too poor performance and utility you can always go for a middle way, say radar provides assured detection in a bubble equal to half the radar range, but full radar range only works within line of sight. -

That reminds me, why does Atago have two sets of ears? In other news, fielding my Portland yielded much better results. I also brought my trusty RNGer along for better alpha strike potential on the boss fight. Suffolk is still suffering a bit due to me not really having a proper tank CA for the RN line (and I just don't want to field non-RN ships in my RN fleet unless they get express synergy skills from it, just feels wrong man) and switched her around in the formation really had no noticable impact as suspected. I opted for the alternative approach and brought my Leander Variant along instead for her additional torps and Cruiser Command skill, now the plan is to just kill the Sirens faster so they don't get too much time to damage my Suffolk. Also passively leveling up my Unicorn so I can later use her heals for a bit more fleet endurance. -

Well, I can certainly try putting her in the middle spot and see if it helps any, though I don't expect to see any meaningfull improvements. Good thing I also have my Portland and Indianapolis leveled (lvl 96 and 93 respectively, full LMB and enhanced) so if all else fails I can just put one of those in there and that's going to be a whole lot more HP (plus medium armour as opposed to light) for the Sirens to chew through. And I've already tried using double line formation, didn't really have any noticable impact. -

Does that actually change the hit propability though? I mean whilst my CA gets hit and damaged the other ships also get hit, it's just that their evasion tanking is good enough to shrug it off. -

I got to say that the event hard mode really, REALLY hates heavy cruisers. My Suffolk is fully LMB and on level 87, but the Sirens do a metric arseton of damage to her. Only her though, because my light cruisers or DDs just constantly evade the damage. A single encounter with a Siren hunter node shaves off 50%+ of my CA's HP, boss fight I'm lucky if she survives even if I held the fleet back and she's on mostly full HP. Wichita (almost fully LMBed, also level 87) shares the same fate but again, only her in the fleet (Helena just evansion tanks everything, same as Laffey, both are close to max HP by the end of the fight). And of course hard mode requires you to have a CA in your fleet, urgh.
