If there's any change that should be made in favour for BBs it's the nonsense that modules such as AA mounts can soak up an entire HE shell. Nothing more frustrating than actually having HE loaded in anticipation of a DD, spotting the DD, shooting the little bugger and half your hits do 0 damage because a couple AA machinguns just blackholed the entire shell. Just today had an instance in my Warspite like that, hit three HE shells (three penetration ribbons) on a DD, did only 1749 damage (ergo one HE pen) and knocked out a couple AA modules. The same number of hits with AP would've been almost double the damage at 3420 (plus the chance for said overpens dealing double damage, cuz that ain't fixed!). There's no point in having an HE damage system that is so unreliable that even as THE ammunition choice meant to deal with low-armour targets, you're still better off shooting the nerfed AP. -
You know, if you insult someone at least owe up to it and don't try to hide behind a blatantly false "no offense there" as if that would absolve you from what you literally just did.

Nevermind that based on the base XP and number of ships still alive (including the Minotaur of course) in that screenshot, I somewhat doubt his team was the victorious one.

Trust me when I say I know what you're saying, but players not knowing how to play isn't a solid base to balance the game around. There's always going to be potatoes with no clue. However if the playing field gets leveled to a degree that the average joe can do his job, mediocre at it as he may be, without getting instadeleted by one of the 5 BBs on the enemy team, you'd find that on average, more cruisers would do their job. Right now, with the typical 4-5 BBs, 3-4 DDs and a couple cruisers sprinkled into the mix, between the threat of being instantly spotted by a DD as soon as they show their nose around a solid piece of island cover you've got half a team worth of BBs just licking their lips at a squishy target. -

No, you push with your cruisers and let them dpm the hell out of any yolorushing DD, or have them light up the offending DD with radar at a more safer distance in the first place. And that's even assuming you don't have a DD on your team that could screen ahead and keep enemy DDs away or spot it for your team. Rather than ask for making BBs selfsufficient you should be looking for solutions as to why the actual intended balancing isn't working and propose solutions to fixing THAT. -

And why is that? Because few cruisers play and even fewer yet play it aggressive enough to be in a position to intercept a potential DD rush. What the game needs is less BBs per match to give some breathing space for cruisers, what it doesn't need is BBs being selfsufficient against everything so more and more people play them.- 200 replies

Cruisers are supposed to protect against DDs rushes. Guess why there's so few of those around. Now guess if making BBs selfsufficient against DDs will make cruisers more popular ... Also, you can already increase your damage output against rushing DDs by a good chunk, just need to spec your captain skills for secondaries.- 200 replies

And you're not wrong of course, the problem however is that CVs are a high effort investment since you at the very least must play up to and including tier VI to get a representative learning experience (due to WG removing manual attacks from tier IV and V). Other ship classes can be dipped into comparatively casual up to tier V and get a pretty solid feel on how and where they like to play to extrapolate as gameplay experience to other classes. In that regard I generally recommend to just play the mainstay classes (battleships, cruisers and destroyers) and gather advice on how to play with/against CVs from the plethora of Youtube guides/commentaries. Only if a player really wants to refine their experience on a practical level were raw informations no longer suffice and/or play CVs themselves in earnest is when I recommend playing them. And considering the CV rework is coming, for better or worse, there's always the question on how deep a player wants to involve himself/herself into the rabbit hole when the gameplay is in all likelyhood going to change radically soon™. That at least is my 0.02 doubloons on the matter and by no means am I an authority to take at the literal word of course.

On one hand, if this is as epidemic as you say it is (I personally only play Ops once for the rewards and that's it, so not much experience with how randoms behave on average) it might warrant a change if only to make the experience less frustrating to those few players that can play and breath at the same time. On the other hand, if enough players are too stupid to do simple things it's not exactly like there's something wrong with the Ops and WG can't fix stupid and you'd be asking them to dumb the game down, quite literally. And I do believe there's a quite vivid opinion floating around in here about dumbing down the game to make it easier for potatoes.

At this point however I would find it highly doubtful the two aren't directly correlated, considering the double damage penetration basically has to be caused by hitbox/compartment shenanigans as the damage calculations are pretty straightforward math and as such largely immune to random damage multiplications. So in summary, a pretty buggy feature they got there. I'd ask if other classes don't seem to catch such odd hits with regularity under the same circumstances. If they prove themselves largely immune to the same issue, I'd supposition it's simple hitbox size: with larger compartments it's less likely a shell would pass through multiple ones rather than just into one compartment and out at the other side of the same. -

Wait what? Let me check real quick ... *le check news page* ... really!? What part about DDs now only get 10% of AP max damage is too complicated? Do people not understand what maximum damage means and now think their AP overpenetrations only do a bit more 100 damage? Do people genuinely think that every DD is now just going to yolorush straight to the nearest enemy BB and get away with it because they can't be lolnuked by AP anymore? Do people even entertain the illusion that a lone BB devoid of cruiser support is even meant to survive a 1vs1 against a DD even if it chose to sacrifice HP in a yolorush rather than just torp from stealth? This is just sad. It's like the understanding of gameplay were a forlorn puppy in the rain; except for being picked up, nursed back to health and given a loving home by players it gets picked up by some PETA shmucks and delivered straight to a kill-shelter. I can't even ... -

*hurgh* ... just give me a minu-*urgh* ... Let it be said that I have llittle qualms about min-maxing divisions, but I don't think I could play more than one game of a triple Belfast division without taking an extensive shower afterwards.
