70 air kills in a Repu...without AA build
Aotearas replied to SEN_SEN_Channel_Portugue's topic in General Discussion
With the hotfix, who cares about the flak bursts? Inside the Republique's "medium" range you do a metric ton of continuous damage that's unavoidable. WG shifted AA from "useless unless flying into flak" to "just try to get near the medium aura, I dare you". -
WG what have you done to AA flak burst values?
Aotearas replied to LoliWolf's topic in General Discussion
Kek, being bottom tier in Cvs now feels just like in the old system, can't do crap. It's even worse actually, since the F auto return now apparently takes so long for aircraft to reach immunity altitude and fly in such a straight line that they just keep catching flak bursts and simply get show down before reaching save heights. Saw a bundle of ships, IMMEDIATELY noped out of there with F without even starting an attack, was just within Zao longrange AA, but since the straight line path for the return went through the ships (as I had flanking with my aircraft around) I still lost the entire squadron. At least in the old system I could vector the squadrons to not fly through every AA aura on a return. -

Okay, just had a game in my Ranger where I was chipping my teeth off a Colorado because the continuous dps just chewed through my tier VI aircraft in a way that allowed me to barely get two attack runs in at best. That's a tier VII ship ... and it was late in the game with his superstructure pretty scorched so no doubt short a handful AA mounts. I dread to think what would happen if I even try going near a tier VIII ship after the AA hotfix. Just absurd. -
Not it's own genre, that would be stuff like adventure, thriller, romance, action, etc. pp. Sci-fi is a setting, much like say fantasy, medieval era or the likes. Though if you're looking for something that just oozes sci-fi feeling, you can check out 'Planetes' and 'Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu' (more commonly known by the english title 'Legend of the Galactic Heroes'), the latter is what you'd call a space-epic and I mean that in its full meaning. There's the classic anime from the 80s which is just amazing, but we've also been getting a rework just a short while ago and the latter focuses a bit less on the characters and political intrigue than the first anime. Gintama is an amazing slapstick parody. You're in for a long haul with that one though, hundreds of episodes. With Re:Zero I presume you mean Re:Zero Kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu, right? Because apparently the whole "re: ..." naming scheme has been real popular for a while so I wouldn't be surprised if there's a couple Re:Zero somethings floating around. If you mean what I think you do, then yes, it's good. Not quite the saviour of anime has people had been hyping it up, but pretty damn solid. Shame though it so far doesn't seem to get a continuation because there's sooo much more source material. If you're looking at isekai (getting transferred into fantasy worlds genre) shows in general, then look no further than Kono Subarashii Sekai Ni Shukufuko Wo! An absolutely ruthless parody of the genre and Dragon Quest'ish RPG elements that will have wheezing from laughter. Megumin best explosion girl!

WG what have you done to AA flak burst values?
Aotearas replied to LoliWolf's topic in General Discussion
So, just logged in for the first time and it's really nonsensical: This is my Sims longrange AA (both ships have the same DP guns with the 127mm/38 Mk30 mod.0, same captain without AA perks, both ships have the AA guns mod.1): 4 flank bursts per salvo, flak burst dps is 420, continuous dps is 70 @ 95% hit propability. This is my Kidd longrange AA (both ships have the same DP guns with the 127mm/38 Mk30 mod.0, same captain without AA perks, both ships have the AA guns mod.1): 6 flak bursts per salvo, flak burst dps is 1610, continuous dps is 93 @ 95% hit propability. So compared to the Sims with its 4x 127mm/30 Mk30 mod.0, the Kidd with its 5x literally the same guns gets: Two additional flak bursts per salvo despite only getting one additional gun. Going from on burst per gun on the Sims to 1,2 bursts per gun on the Kidd. A straight up 20% improvement in per gun bursts. Almost 4x as much flak burst dps (3,83x rounded to second decimal digit) despite only getting one additional gun. Per gun that is 322 AA flak burst dps on the Kidd which comes disturbingly close to what the total Sims flak burst dps is at 420 with 105 flak burst dps per gun. A 307% (!!!) improvement in per gun flak burst dps. 93 continuous AA dps compared to Sims' 70 despite only getting one additional gun. Per gun that is 18,6 continuous dps compared to the Sims' per gun 17,5 continuous dps. A 6% improvement in per gun continous dps. Sims longrange AA sector starts at 1,5km compared to the Kidd's 3,5km, but that is because the Sims doesn't get any midrange guns and should thus be waived as a comparative element. Same AA gun, one tier difference ... 20%, 307% (!!!) and 6% improvements in AA characteristics respectively. Can someone from WG please explain the rationale behind those numbers? @Sub_Octavian, @MrConway -

Haven't logged in yet to check the new AA values and you know how it is with WG and change documentation, ain't no one know nothin' until they look at the numbers in client. But if they really adressed AA values that asymmetrically then I expect we due for a nother hotfix to fix the previous hotfix soon. Or not, because WG things ... -
WG what have you done to AA flak burst values?
Aotearas replied to LoliWolf's topic in General Discussion
Don't have the Flint so can't compare to before, but it looks like the continuous dps was tripled or something in that region in exchange for reducing the flak dps massively. Hotfix said they would adjust AA values, but honestly that's a pretty massive shift for what can be accurately described as a kneejerk balance hotfix one week after CVs got into live server. Makes the AA less All-or-Nothing, but will likely bring back the old problem of bottom tier CVs getting thrashed by uptiered AA dps and being able to happily ignore most bottom tier AA dps due to greater plane HP if top tier in the match. With only even tier CVs in the game now that's going to be very interesting times for the tier VI and VIII CVs that just love getting thrown into tier VIII and X games respectively. -
No. We're players, not WG's QA department. Besides it didn't even require in-depth testing to see that the rework wasn't in a state ready to be released onto the live servers. Even WG admitted that the last PTS balance wasn't what they wanted, but do you think they delayed the rework for another round of testing PTS to figure out something? No, they went ahead and dropped it on the live server with undocumented changes (!!!) compared to the latest PTS version we had and now a week later we have a hotfix that changes more and NONE of the issues the hotfix adresses where anything new that only recently cropped up after dropping the rework on live, they were all wellknown from PTS already.

You're going to have to nrrow that down, because sci-fi isn't its own genre any more as much as it is just a setting. Might make a short list of sci-fi shows you've watched and liked and we can give recommendations based on that. Also as always the standard for sci-fi setting stuff: Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell (everything except Arise). Plus if you like mecha-anime, Tengen Toppa Guren Lagann.

Not much of a LoL fan, nor much into K-Pop, but this mixed remarkably well.

The CV rework is substantially flawed in its current state, but the hype in both positive (what little there is) and negative form just compounds everything into the extreme. Same reason why I think the changes in the upcoming hotfix appear for one premature, just a week after the rework landed on live server when we can't even say that the meta has remotely adjusted to the new changes ... and secondly the changes in the hotfix appearing a whole lot more hamfisted than what you'd expect to see from WG which have a history of waiting months on end to gather data prior to adjusting ships. WG dug themselves into a hole with releasing CVs onto the live servers this early and now they seem determing to get out of the whole by excavating straight through the planet to get out on the side. We'll see where that leads to and the only thing I can say with certainty is that I will thoroughly enjoy watching this unfold.

You want to have IFHE on your french cruisers anyway, because once you get to the HIV, with IFHE you got 52mm HE pen, which is enough to penetrate 50mm deck armour (found on german BB decks, part of the Yamato's deck and russian cruiser midships, plus Khaba troll armour). If the russian BBs also stick to getting 40mm midships armour, then IFHE will also mean the HIV will HE pen those too (which it wouldn't be able to without IFHE because native 40mm HE pen isn't enough because it's not >40mm armour). Even the 203mm french CAs benefit a teensy-weensy bit from IFHE because it will beat the 38mm US BB deck armour found at hightier and it will also be enough to beat 40mm on any coming russian BBs.

Naw, I'm saying that unironically. OreGairu (as in Yahari Ore No Seishun Love Comedy Wa Machigatteiru, don't ask me why people chose that abbreviation ...) is a pretty solid romantic comedy show. I enjoyed watched it, even though I'm not particularily enthusiastic about romance stories. If you want ironic recommendations, go watch Ero-Manga Sensei: A boundary pushing masterpiece on the virtues of family relationships. In other news, Tate No Yuusha No Nariagari episode #5 was pretty underwhelming when compared to the manga version. Completely unnecessary forshadowing (spoilers I'd even say), just urgh pacing throughout the episode and downright lazy animation quality ... I can only hope the show doesn't continue down that slope. In other, much later romance-comedy news: I just started watching Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai and I have to say if the first episode is a proper indicator for the rest of the show, oh boy this is going to be one of the gems of this season! The humourous hyperbole is on F*CKING point!

No, that number is still accurate. 152mm guns can only damage 24mm or less armour. It's still 25mm HE pen, but it already substracted the -1 for the <25mm HE penetration threshold (as you can only penetrate armour thinner than your HE pen, equal or higher armour shatters).
-
Not sure what to think on this one. Airdropped torpedoes already had pretty low base flooding chances to the point that in order to get a somewhat reliable flooding you had to aim to hit a torp on the nose or aft as hitting anywhere near the torpedobelt almost never resulted in a flooding. Then again, if nose/aft hits still result in reliable floodings this change basically changes nothing ... so mark my slightly confused.
-
You say that as if sanity was a preferable state of mind. I politely disagree.

HE penetration is 1/6 of your caliber, so for the Seattle's 152mm guns that's 25mm HE pen (rounded). HE shells can also only penetrate and thus damage armour that is less thick than its HE penetration, meaning you will penetrate 24mm armour or less, but not 25mm or more. Since the Amagi's hull is armoured in 32mm plating you will shatter on everything except its 19mm superstructure. IFHE is highly recommended (read: mandatory) because it improves your HE penetration by 30%, which in the case of 152mm guns like on your Seattle gives it an HE pen of 33mm (rounded), which is enough to penetrate the typical 32mm hull armour on tier VIII+ BBs like the Amagi. You can check your HE shells HE penetration in the detailed ship statistics in port too, though to avoid confusion it bears noting that the number displayed there is the amount of armour you can penetrate, not your HE pen, so it would say 24mm on your Seattle and 32 if you have a captain with IFHE instead of the 25/33mm HE pen respectively. A bit confusing, but ultimately a more intuitive number.

First of all, this thread isn't for collecting news about the game, not for discussing it. We have a seperate topic for that here so actual informations in this thread aren't buried beneath each player's individual opinion. Also quoting a more than three years old comment ... no words for that. Do NOT respond to this, as this isn't for discussions and I will have flagged both your and my comment to get removed by mods so we keep this thread clean.

I do believe my explanation was sufficiently detailed to understand what I meant. I'm not talking about the usual UI stutters, lag, etc.. I'm talking about the UI refusing to acknowledge key inputs, whilst at the same time still accepting curser movement and scrollwheel input, ergo not the regular freeze-up.
-
And again. Currently demounting upgrades on ships I already grinded past, but can't do more than ~3 ships before the UI decides it doesn't want to respond anymore.
-
Just happened again, roughly a minute after closing and relogging back into the game. Weird, because if it's a patch stability issue I would've expected to have this issue come up sooner than just today, especially if it appears to occur so regularily right now.

Everyone focused on the tier 10 carriers.
Aotearas replied to DrMechano's topic in General Discussion
That's a side effect and though I'm sure you could abuse that in a division, I somehow doubt that reducing oneself to largely being a distraction so your team can do damage is going to gain much traction. I know I wouldn't trust random teammates, even at tier X, to properly capitalize on something like that, nevermind sacrificing my ability to do proper damage myself for it. -
How does the AA Zone work in this case...?
Aotearas replied to Genie_of_the_Lamp's topic in General Discussion
I'm not sure if AA is actually simulating fields-of-fire for AA guns. I've tried divebombing ships from straight ahead/behind and still got greeted with what seemed like the same amount of flak bursts as if approaching from broadside. IF fields-of-fire are simulated, then I feel like it could get tweaked a bit, but honestly compared to how it feels like right now that would be akin to a straight up AA nerf for most ships so hardly something that's going to be a popular demand anytime soon™. -
Hmm, the animation quality in that clip (talking about the source clip of course, not the edited in WoWs stuff) is pretty damn good. Please tell me that's indicative of the animation quality of the show in question, because if that's a yes I'll have to check it out.
