Someone forgot to adjust 'Situational Awareness' in 0.5.5
Aotearas replied to WhiskeyWolf's topic in General Discussion
FIX THIS SHlT!!! I'm spotted in my Izyaslav, I wait, I get unspotted, I turn around and a couple seconds later BAMM BAMM BAMM, three accurate salvoes that OBVIOUSLY weren't blindfire (since I had turned, so any shots in the air for my previous course would've been off, duh) hit me and reduce my ship to 1.5k health, taking me out of the game right at the bloody start of the match. This bug is crippling and should be a top-priority on the to-fix-ASAP-list. And no, no one can tell me it's working fine, the SA skill has quite clearly changed with the last patch and since I haven't yet seen any dev saying that SA was bugged all the freaking time until the last patch needing a fix to get it "working as intendedTM". -
Weather. Massive BB buff or is it just me?
Aotearas replied to Kazomir's topic in General Discussion
I think it's a massive nerf. You can not shoot anything that you don't spot yourself because the ships are simply not rendering for you otherwise. Enemy cruiser spotted by your team 10km out? Can't shoot it, because you can't see it. I'm not a backseat BB sniper, I like to get closer to the enemy and push when possible, but not being able to shoot at anything outside 8km is a huuuuuuge nerf as it just takes me out of the game for my team. I'm fine with ships being harder to detect, but once they ARE spotted by someone on your team, they SHOULD render so people can actually support their teammates. Right now when the cyclone hits, people just bunch up in a ball of ships and try to camp it out. The only ships that actually benefit are those with a lower detectability than 8km (DDs) whose gameplay doesn't change in the slightest (considering most other enemy ships can't shoot at you since they are too far away, it's even a buff if you blundered into detection range!) for them aside from gunboat DDs, who also get screwed over since they can't get an as nice buffer range between them and their targets. Overall in its current form it's a flat buff to torpedo boat DDs and a significant nerf to everything else that scales with ship class. Remove the render distance penalty or rework the whole thing from ground, but right now it's BS. -
Get previous game version to watch replay
Aotearas replied to BruceForce's topic in General Discussion
A standalone replay viewer executable compatible with all game versions would be neat. WG is supposedly looking into enabling replays via options anyway (instead of tinkering with your files), so they might aswell go the whole ~8,23 meters. -
Default rangefinder is dialed in a battleship sized target traveling at 20 knots. So if shell flight time is 10 seconds and your target is say a New York going at full speed (21 knots), then you align the '10' on the rangefinder midships on the target (or wherever else you want to aim for), adjust for relative heading and let your pretties fly. If your target is a faster cruiser that can do say 30 knots and shell flight time is 10 seconds, you multiply that by the factor of speed difference (1.5x in this example), so you aim at the ship with the '15' on your rangefinder. It's a bit less formulaic the closer you get and the smaller the targets are, but a bit of experience can easily make up for that and you'll hit targets reliably. Going by this math, knowledge of how fast other ships can go and gauging their current speed you can reliably get first salvo hits (provided RNG doesn't say "nope" with shell dispersion). That's all you need.

I'm not entirely sure, but I believe penalties are deducted after the (premium) base XP, so it should still count. As I said earlier, I think a rounding error on the vanilla base XP is more likely (1666x1.5=2499 and 1667x1.5=2501) and the game rounded up, giving 2501 Xp, yet the stat tracker rounded down and gave 2499 XP. If penalties are deducted straight from base XP, then this would be unusual cruel circumstance, considering 2 XP teamdamage penalty is basically just two guys bumping together once, which may not even have been his fault if the other player steered into him. -

No, you can clearly see the 2501 is base XP with premium. Note the x1.3 modifier after it! -
He meant if divisions are being assigned a higher matchmaking score which the MM uses to build teams. It's constantly thrown around that divisions are counted as a tier higher than their ships (due to playing together being an advantage is the usually given reason) and from firsthand experience I'm certainly inclined to believe it, however I don't recall there being any definitive proof of such a matchmaking bias and frankly speaking what basically amounts to penalizing teamwork in a game with teamwork as one of its focal gameplay facets would be counterintuitive and counterproductive to foster any such form of gameplay. Never heard about newly unlocked ships being seeded as toptier for their first matches though ...

45% winrate today ... I swear these 3x events bring out all the newbies, n00bs and professional potatoes out of the bushworks ... and somehow they all get on my teams. I think a mandatory tutorial mission should be in place for people who come back after a longer hiatus, because I swear some of those people forgot the most basic stuff (like pointing your guns at the enemy). -
I can't tell you how many times I've aimed at a ship behind an island, yet the bloody game sends all the shells into the island that occluded direct line of sight, despite my ship having the shell arcs to comfortably shoot over the island and hitting the ship behind it. It's starting to cease being an annoyance and becoming outright infuriating. Please, can finally somebody at WG adress this issue?

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
Aotearas replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Be glad you weren't on TeamSpeak ... this game was so full of RNG crap your eyes would've bled listening to me getting progressively more cranky. The funny thing though is that we for the most part things were going horrible for us ... with our whole lemming team and whatnot (did I mention the RNG already?). -
Just checking to ask: do we have coloured tracers back already?

That is a penalty that is applied after base XP, otherwise the result screen would say 2499 base XP. Since it's saying 2501, 2501 it should be for the stat tracker. My take is this is probably a rounding error, since 1667 is just the edge of breaking past the 2500 Xp mark with the premium 50% boost and if the game rounded up to 1667 vanilla XP, yet the stat tracker rounded to 1666, it would come out as 2499. -
Well, I suppose at the very least it should provide some shortlived fun in the way of some "wtf, islands are now shooting me, PvE too hard, nurf pl0x" threads.

That's quite the grind. Dividing 100k XP into seven even parts (assuming a player can actually play on every day during the week), that's still a bit over 14k XP to make. Without premium, you can look at fifteen games to reach that number if you do decent (which is a bit optimistic given how the gameplay quality took a plunge). With premium that's still about ten games. Averaged say fifteen minutes per match and that's two and a half hours game time to grind through that mission. And realistically, a LOT of people do not have the time/luxury to play every day for so long, if at all, so the required grind per day only increases. Really, considering the meager reward of 20 diamonds, this is one hell of a grindy mission to put out weekly. With first win of the day bonus (i.e.: ship XP rather than base XP) it would still by grindy, though at least considerably less so. Is this really working as intended? -

Oh boy, am I glad that didn't happen to me. I fear together with the pent-up frustration from today, I'd combust. -

Could be the WG server, though it could also be that your ISP is somehow messing with your connection in that time window. You could check with your ISP and ask if there's any maintenance or something like that, possible rescheduling it for your connection. -
Not going to be for PvP since adding NPC stuff into it doesn't make a lot of sense. As for PvE, they'd first need to make PvE attractive in the way of rewards, otherwise why would I ever want to play PvE if a murder game there still gives less XP and credits than a bad game in PvP?

Exactly. Today is the first time I forcefully closed WoWS via task manager because I was so utterly frustrated that I even got angry at the fact at Alt+F4 doesn't instantly shut down the game (as it should btw, I wouldn't press Alt+F4 if I didn't want to close it, no need to ask me about it ... and no one can tell me that Alt+F4 is something people tend to hit by accident). -
Years of experience with various games and their bugs/glitches/issues have taught me that when a company says "we're working on it" without giving a concise estimation of the problem cause and ETA to fix is not actually working on it. I'd love to be less cynical, but I've yet to be proven otherwise, whereas the ratio of carte blanche "we're working on it" promises and problems actually getting fixed is almost inexistent. And the same logic doesn't apply to prospective ingame content since unlike with aftersale services like technical support, companies are inherently economically invested in creating more content to sell, because it generates an immediate return in the way of sales. Tech support nowadays appears to run on the philosophy "good enough", not necessarily "good". As long as the game is technically functional and any present issues aren't driving too many players away to make it unprofitable in its current state, any expense to optimize the game further is increasingly considered wasteful.

I don't think the event is the only thing. Prior to today things went about as usual give or take some minor cases of bad luck with teams (and some cases with good luck with teams). And Project R as the previous big event wasn't as bad either. -

OMFG I have no clue what's happening today, but the teams today ... it's just ... why? I play on sundays, I know the weekend syndrome of an influx of players who aren't that good due to the fact they can't play much and I never had a problem with that. But today teams are consistently filled with AFKer's, Leeroy Jenkinses andguys who are just so monumentally stupid that I'd say being called a bot would be a compliment. Is there a holiday around or something that could explain this unusual influx? I swear I've never experienced something like this. -
So they're not working on it. Well, good know.

Do keep in mind the mission runs until next monday. It'd be a real shame for people who got a load of 3x first win of the day if they didn't count and a tough grind to get 100k XP without that, but not quite impossible yet provided the mission is actually being tracked and simply not updating, or in worst case scenario fixed and ready to go by later today. -
Technically they are submersibles. Only the KM tier 9 Type XXIII and the tier 10 Type XXI are true submarines.

There is only one weekly mission category. The other one's are distinctively named "Week 1 Missions". If you can't make the relation because a single word ("recurring") is missing DESPITE the circumstancial hints from various posts in here, then perhaps you need to engage your own brainpower a bit more or ask for clarification before giving out a blank cheque insult.
