Big ranked battles compilation thread so we dont have multiple other threads discussing the same thing.

Not exactly a compelling reason when you have to pay 30€ for a measly 32 Juliet Charlie signla flags (or 50€ for 55 flags). If they wanted to keep the mechanic to sell flags, they ought to provide sufficient supply if they already artificially create demand. I don't care how many collectors with loose wallets are out there to justify WG's bundlemania, but bunding 320x several signal flags and various other flags 32 times each together with the Juliet Charlie flags, they aren't going to sell many at people who specifically want more anti-detonation flags. That's a target audience you could easily reach by selling a combat flags bundle with those flags which otherwise are only treated as a minor bonus to the existing flag bundles. -
What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Aotearas replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Budyonny theme, eh? I can deliver! Was also the game that earned me the last XP I needed to unlock the Shchors so I could buy it whilst the VMF discount is still going. This little buddy also made me enough money to bundle the Ognevoi right up. Will definately keep the Budyonni, that ship is love, it's life! -

Our division (Hanszeehock, WolfGewehr and me) ran into ShockPirat today, so me imprumpto made a 4man division and rolled the enemy over. Funny thing is the enemy had five IJN DDs (two Fubuki, two Hatsuharu and a Mutsuki), yet after countless torpedo attempts the only managed a grand total of one torpedo hit on our division (Wolfie took one in his Tirpitz, shame on you for ruining our flawless BB victory!). Torpedoes OP, plz nurf!!!* -
Hmm, is the TK penalty period reliant on games played without causing damage to allies only? It's late (read: early) over here so I'm not energetic enough to go on a forum search, so if someone could dig up the WG statement regarding the specifics, feel free to. Could be a bug or simply the statistics tracking engine being slow to update.

Got insta killed by BB in Indianapolis

The odd Indianapolises I shot at in my cruisers and BBs were not any more squishy than other cruisers. Unless they showed their broadside, in which case everything is squishy anyhow. -
Complains about forum users, goes on to insult others. Aye, typical WG forum user spotted. Welcome to the club. And please do excuse people for not assuming sex based on screennames. Most names are not indicative of a person's sex and those that are by no means actually reflect the real sex (it's not uncommon at all for male players to pretend to be female ones to troll or some such). Thirdly, how could people in here know the OP already has her opinion on battleships? The Furutaka does play differently from other midtier light cruisers and comparing it to BB gameplay is valid advice. Lastly, where did that stat whore comment come from? I just doublechecked and there was no statbashing or whatever involved in any post prior to yours. In fact most posts were very helpful in either explaining the stock-ship problem and/or giving tips on how to play the Furutaka. So how about you dial back on that attitude, take a chill pill and take a good long look in the mirror before ranting about "typical WG forum users"!

Gojuadurai met our division in his Nagato, invited him to the BBQ but he didn't like it much, so he shot me. He tried to push, but apparently the rest of his team didn't get the memo and they all avoided the domination caps like the plague, so we won handily. Also ran into TheCinC and MightyThor83 in their North Carolina and Atago respectively ... this time OUR team didn't get the memo and despite having a 4:2 DD advantage the team just derped out like mad. Little I could do in my stock NC. Bit miffed at not getting a single good volley into the Atago though, RNG didn't like me that game But at least the chat was worth it -
The new Additional XP system... God Why?!
Aotearas replied to still_guns's topic in General Discussion
Yet that is absolutely the case. 1.5 times XP is an increase of 50%, not 100%. Surely you can see how your rants' credibility is questioned when your example gets its math all wrong. -
Anime-Empfehlungen der deutschen Community
Aotearas replied to Kiriseo's topic in Die Messe (Offtopic)
The problem with detecting RAM hacks is that if you try to catch them by scanning for unwanted memory calls, you typically end up with having to deal with a crapton of false positives when the anti-cheat flagged something that isn't in fact a cheat. Afaik Punkbuster had a lot of issues with this and I do distinctively remember that at least one MASSIVE banwave for Battlefield 4 ended up with a significant percentage of false positives, which obviously was a PR disaster for both Punkbuster and DICE. I'm talking about thousands of players who unjustly got handed global crossgame bans and couldn't play any game partnered with the Punkbuster anti-cheat until the issue was resolved later and the people got unbanned again.

"All-around players" vs "Specialized players"
Aotearas replied to SkybuckFlying's topic in General Discussion
Guys, I think I broke him. -
Eh, you'll get used to it. It's not like I didn't run into one or two islands today when I was being inattentive ... in my defense, it were on the newer maps (for once I have a good excuse, use it!).

"All-around players" vs "Specialized players"
Aotearas replied to SkybuckFlying's topic in General Discussion
Command and Conquer 95 and Red Alert, light tank rush build. You only build light tanks (duh) and rush the enemy (duh). Incredibly effective strategy at all stages of the game due to the light tank's fantastic ratio of ressource to performance. You can literally keep throwing light tanks at the enemy for as long as you have money, disrupt his economy and drown them in light tanks until you've won. Civilization 2, late game artillery armies. Terrible defensive stats, but among the strongest offensive stats around and relatively cheap to build. Again you can simply throw dozens and hundreds of those at your enemies and roll them over with brute force. Civilization 3, civilization specific units, particularily Japan's Samurai and the Osman Empire's Sipahi are riduculously powerful against the standard unit equivalents. As long as you get to the technology required to start building these you can literally pound enemy civilizations into dust until they acquire the technology for their hardcounter, a superiour defensive unit AND the required industrial base to built sufficient numbers to beat your by that point likely numerical advantage. I hope that is enough anecdotal evidence to show you how fruitless that kind of argument is, aye? -
Compared with the Kolberg, the Karlsruhe is a great ship (and I say that without any irony, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Karl).
-
Due to your low Karma you will be reborn as a Kolberg in your next life.

You're obviously forgetting that skills and teamwork go both ways. A skilled captain might be able to do some damage in a low tier ships even against high tier ones, pending teamwork or individual skill. But what if the enemy in their non-faildivision higher tier ships actually know what they do too? What if they have a team that's working together aswell? With the above in mind, please tell me whats a Tenryuu and a Bogatyr to accomplish in a game full of ships several tiers higher (they were in a division with a Königsberg) ? Wow, I'm in awe. Surely his team must've expected great things. He could've done soo much damage if only everyone on our team had completely ignored him. The Bogatyr only lived for a bit longer because he wisely hauled aft outta there and behind the islands on the 9 line. His team was short one ship a handful seconds after both fleets first laid eyes upon each other and the second ship wasn't much of a help outside not being dead yet for the rest of his game. I dare say the enemy team might've appreciated having a couple more t5 or t6 cruisers, even if played badly they at least function as a disposable meatshield for a couple more thousand hitpoints worth and that's assuming they wouldn't play well. And I'm pretty certain they would've loved competently played t5/t6 cruisers even more. To emphasize: Just because a couple players are good enough to do something worthwhile with lower tier ships in their faildivision doesn't mean they will, nor does it mean anyone who's faildivisioning is going to be the next WoWS-Guru with unmatched mastery just because the remote possibility theoretically exist and in some very specific instances realizes given favourable situations or if the enemy team is derping out just shy of spontanously selfcombusting. Way more often than not, a faildivision is going to live up to its designation and fail in face of superiour ships being played by non-potato players. And when that does, said faildivision actively sabotaged their team's chances to have a remotely even fight.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Aotearas replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Several great games today. Only lost two out of 21 games, with an impressive winstreak at the end (13+ streak, had a break in between sessions and I don't know how many games in the first one would count towards the win series). And culminated in a pretty nifty carry to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat* *Can't post more images, so a link to the WoWReplays website where I uploaded it. -

Guess today was busy. Met Spartan1963 in his Atlanta, Shaka_D in his Warspite and Hanszeehock in his Fusou ... only Hanszeehock had the fortune of landing in the same team and thus winning, though our division didn't leave much for him to shoot at -
I'd say the Indianapolis is plain superiour to the Pensacola, albeit that less being the Indianapolis being OP as much as it is the Pensacola having a ridiculously bad detectability (which is the one thing the Indianapolis doesn't suffer from!). But yes, I wholeheartedly agree with premium ships offering something different, rather than offering superiour performance. Sadly there's enough instances where that mindset either wasn't present, or utterly failed (Gremyaschy vs Gnevny, Atago vs Mogami, Texas vs New York to name a few).

[EU] A "Military Month"-challenge like the NA, would that be welcomed on the EU?
Aotearas replied to MrFingers's topic in General Discussion
Wow, the mission requirements are laughably easy compared to what the EU server typically has to achieve for missions. Can also be grinded in PvE unlike missions on the EU server. How come? -
Different gun performance though. The french used a slightly higher caliber shell which was also heavier than the russian shell. That thing really packed a wallop for its size and even though the french said their ships were large destroyers, they essentially filled the role of light cruisers.
