  1. Well, damage done to teammates is reflected on pinkies. As for why teammates aren't immune to damage by pinkies, probably the same rationale as with enabling friendly fire in the first place. I personally don't mind the latter and with damage being reflected on pinkies, they are actively being punished for doing it plus they also pay full repairs for every bit of damage done to allies. I think here's where you can tweak stuff a bit, with an additional credits and XP penalty so teamkillers can go in the reds for XP and credit.
  2. Haven't been pink, ever. It's easy not to shoot or torpedo your teammates if you even pay just the slightest bit of attention. I vehently disagree that getting pink is easy. You have to be harmfully neglective to go pink. And that is entirely correct, because people who can't be arsed to pay attention even just when shooting stuff at the enemy, it is by the very nature of your perspective when you aim almost impossible NOT to see if any teammates are in the way. The only, the single one thing that I'd agree on being a nuisance with the new system is secondaries still counting towards teamdamage as you have no control over them and turning them off also disables your AA which you may not want at times, even if it means they might drunkenly hit an ally. That's the only thing I'd say needs a change. Otherwise, the new system is immeasureably better than the old one, when the teamdamage threshold for going pink was so high you basically had to be a sociopathic murderer on a rampage to get pink. Teamdamage is bad and people inflicting such SHOULD be told in no uncertain terms that what they are doing, be that because they didn't watch what they were doing or intentional, is bad. And contrary to popular belief, it's still not easy to get pink if you typically play reasonably otherwise. Just today a divisionmate of mine hazardously launched torpedoes, then noticed an allied Sims was on course to intersect with their path. He tried to warn, but the Sims didn't see it, got hit and sunk. Teamkill. it was entirely my mates fault. There was a -1 next to his name ... yet he had still not turned pink. Quite obviously you don't simply go pink for every tidbit of damage you deal to friendly, not even a full TK seems guaranteed to do the trick if you otherwise play well. The system isn't as indiscriminate as people make it out to be because it does in fact put teamdamage into relation with your general performance, so if you usually pay attention, you do have a buffer before turning pink from the looks of it. Conversely, that means if you or anyone else is turning pink for what may seem as minor teamdamage to you, it means that you do that a lot and the system picks up on that. A single needle doesn't hurt a lot, but a couple of them will. So if you [edited]your allies too many times, the system will tell you to knock it off and make you pink. Simple solution to that: don't [edited]your team!

The cap ,,points,, should be remade completely..

So what, you're going to quit the game a fourth time?
  4. And I can't bloody believe that I still outscored the Ibuki despite dying early in the game due to getting focused down by literally the entire enemy fleet. I mean what the hell, that Ibuki was alive for the entire match and still couldn't outscore a Myoukou that took an emergency dive halfway through the game. That isn't how it's supposed to be!!! And my opinion about the matchmaking in this game is neatly transparent in the first screenshot (pun intended).
  5. Oy yo Snotling. Ye betta be watchin' wer ye be thrown da boom fishies, cuz da chief will feed ye to da squigs if ye asplode too many. WAAAAGH only wOrks wif enuff of us! WG, the dds need nerf, not the Cariers..

Didn't you quit the game like two times already?

Using TS in ranked. Is it cheating?

Take it up to WG then. Try and get the guy banned if you think like that.
  8. We're talking about the Imperial German naval ensign, not the 1935-1938/1938-1945 one. Also, using ANY flag in conjunction with political messages is a minor civil offense. That can be an Imperial germany flag at a Neo-Nazi rally. It could also be a "My Little Pony" flag if the flag comes with any form of discernable political intent. That specific law is not about flags, it's about political messages. And the Neo-Nazis are using the imperial flag because for as long as they don't shout illegal paroles down the street, the flag will NOT be confiscated, because it IS legal. The simple point is: WGs official stance is doublestandard BS. And the notion that some random bob would sue WG for including the IG ensign is ludicrous. For one, given the legal status of the flag, any such attempt would get laughed out the attorney's office. Secondly, if WG doesn't care about being sued for using the Soviet flag (which in fact IS illegal in several countries which are using the EU client wherein said flag is included!!!), the argument is just grasping at straws, because evidently the amount of f**** given for a very real possibility is zero! WG isn't covering any bases to avoid legal problems. They are just being hypocritical, it's simple as that. And that's what annoys me. I'd love to see all historical flags ingame. But I won't shed tears when they aren't present. However I don't like being led on a nosehook with BS about why any such flags aren't included. "Dave from the art department doesn't like 'em, so that's why they aren't ingame" is a better reason than anything WG tried to come up with up to date.

Using TS in ranked. Is it cheating?

Ah, okay. Got the wrong idea about the purpose of the topic then, apologies. I specifically dislike Ranked precisely for the reason of mostly absent teamwork and the supposed focus on individual skill is inherently sabotaged by crappy matchmaking. If Ranked allowed divisions, I'd be all over it in a heartbeat, but just being stuck with random people (who take stock Omaha's into Ranked, BBs going AFK (yeah, I've seen that in only four Ranked games played!) and a matchmaker that seems to get even worse with less players per team (80% of the queue being waiting BB players obviously wasn't helping) is just meh. Bypassing the limitations seems like a necessity if you don't want to be driven insane.

Using TS in ranked. Is it cheating?

And I gave the reason why I think Ranked battles isn't the place to look for competitive teamplay. So anyone who goes out of their way to create an environment where they can in fact coordinate such stuff with people they know is doing extra work and should be rewarded with the ingame benefits. If you or anyone else isn't bothering to try the system, that's your prerogative. But don't try to insinuate that it's cheating or otherwise unfair just because you are willingly submitting to a handycap and others didn't. Unless WG specifically states that Ranked is to be played solo only, anything that improves teamwork goes. The other dude played his chances, no doubt helped by popularity as being a streamer, and invited people to coordinate teamwork when he met familiar ones. There is NOTHING wrong with that.

Using TS in ranked. Is it cheating?

Eh, with the emergence of Teambattles, any appeal of Ranked for its allegedly higher standard of play has flown straight out the window when they don't even allow institutionalized teamwork like say divisions. If the matchmaker could actually sort teams into reliably even setups so that individual skill would make the difference in otherwise evenly matched teams, then I'd say there's some merit to the idea again, but until then I consider Ranked little more than a grind to get the reward goodies. Let's hope the upcoming revamped matchmaking that WG was talking about can provide that ... Considering I don't play Ranked precisely because getting coordinated teamplay to work is such a hassle, I very much do keep to that same opinion and very much act accordingly to it. So there's that ...
  12. Aotearas

Using TS in ranked. Is it cheating?

Let me get this straight: coordinated teamwork is cheating? In a game whose most basic design is pitting two teams against each other? Mkay ... I'll just say that the presence of coordinated teamwork isn't an unfair disadvantage. Rather the absence of coordinated teamwork constitutes a disadvantage. This game is meant to play payed as a team after all. So props to those people who play together and jump through a couple hoops to achieve that. Why divisions aren't allowed in Ranked is another thing I could lose a few choice words on it, but I suppose the general public consensus would be "want teamwork, play teambattles". Ranked is supposedly only for singleplayer people tired of playing bots. Unless he simply moved them to another channel (so they can't listen in on their opposition, which is obviously understandable he wouldn't want that) for them to organize. If he simply kicked them off his entire TS server, only then I'd say that's a pretty douchey dickmove.
  13. The diva in me is slightly miffed that you only had eyes for the New Orleans at the start of the game. My North Carolina is much, MUCH sexier! Nice fiddling though By the way, I sent my replay to Jingles. You can send yours too, see if he makes a double vision'ish video about that game. You know, for Youtube fame and all that jazz I also just noticed that I barely scraped by the 'Dreadnought' award ... damnit. Why didn't the enemy shoot me just a little bit more!?!?

    Track shell feature

Don't push keys you don't want to push, it's that simple. The game doesn't need to hold your hands if you can't control them good enough to do what you want to.

    Nagato Scondary Build

No. Secondary builds are just as useless as they were before. Anything your secondaries can actually hurt somewhat reliably will be just as easily killed by your main guns. This goes double for the IJN BBs who have a good chunk of their secondaries shooting AP shells, which means they will bounce like any other shell off angled armour and any ship that's actually steering towards you WILL be angled, so the only damage you might expect is from the occasional superstructure hits. The time when those AP secondaries would do noticeably damage is when the target broadsides, in which case a salvo from your mainguns does the trick even better. It's a pretty lightshow, but secondaries are simply not dependable. Nice to have around and sometimes they contribute that crucial bit of damage, but most of the time they just shoot drunkenly around hitting little and doing even less damage.

  17. Ayup. Teamwork dominated! It's hilarious that you can still say you played second fiddle with 2738 base XP ... the match was hardfought, but never felt particularily intense for me, yet it was such a hard carry. The flow simply worked in our division. Our Chi was mad focused, yo! Also uploaded it to WoWReplays.com, in case anyone wants to see the action.
  18. Arguably my best game ever 3625 base XP in my North Carolina (B hull only), ~178k damage done, 37 aircraft shot down (after I had jokingly pleaded the enemy CV to please not attack me ), 7 kills and ~865k credits (~742k in pure profits, with premium though). Was a hard carry too, though not by virtue of difficulty. We went for A cap on Shatter Domination, encountered a bit bit of the enemy team including their t9 BB, Izumo, and had to work through those forces for a while until we finally cleared them out (capped the A flag in the meanwhile in my big, fat battleship xD), then had to turn to mid and get the B cap because our team on the east side got wiped out by the enemy and they had a two caps lead. Fletcher tried to ambush me ... killed him (CQE yay!), Colorado wanted a fight, put him down to almost nothing before he managed to get the islands between us and I got the New Orleans who was with the Colorado. Capped B, then went cautiously for the C cap because I just knew they were waiting for me to stick my nose out. Luckily my divisionmaze piritskenyer got spotted first and they shot at him, so I knew where they were and could engage on my terms. Enemy North Carolina beached himself in the meanwhile, so I put shots into him, the almost dead Colorado got spotted too, so I delivered the coup-de-grace and then I went on to kill the NC for my seventh kill. Booya!!! Not a single fu- ... compliment was given that match
  19. Technically yesterday, but I got distracted with stuff and don't think I'll play today at all, so I'll dump this one here. Our division had to heft a good share of our team on our backs to win this one: My final struggle was particularily thrilling as I found myself facing a full health North Carolina (upgraded one with 66k health compared to my by then slightly battered stock NC with ~29k health), a Colorado (stock) a Hipper, Atago, Pensacola and Budyonny all trying to get licks in as I defended our cap. My divisionmate Damanta in his New Orleans died to the enemy fire before they switched their focus to me, so I had some time softening them up, killed the Hipper and eventually got the killing blow on the Atago as it tried to rush me for a torpedo run no doubt (pffft yeah ), but after killing the latter I still had an almost full health upgraded NC within secondary range to contend with, so I swing my bow around to get that angle sharpened up and not lose my remaining ~29k health, swing the guns around take aim and ... well my two frontal turret's salvoes gone the playing field was levelled since the enemy NC didn't believe in angling. I could've ended it with the next two shots, but the NC got lucky and damaged my second front turret just as I wanted to shoot, so it bought itself some time for me to swing my rear around and get that turret a clear shot, but a bit of supporting shots from my remaining divisionmate and the fire set by my secondaries finished the NC off. Enemy Pensacola secured himself the kill on me though after I was on ~600 health after this whole ordeal. 8balljoker in his NC had his work cut out for him to carry the rest together with the lone surviving Hatsuharu and after a couple teethclenching minutes, we managed to scrape by and won with just a handful score points in lead after time-out.
  20. Just read through the patchnotes for 0.5.7 and saw that the Standard Battle gamemode is being removed for tier VII and upwards games. Not sure if I'm a fan of that. I understand the reasoning behind it, don't get me wrong, but I think WG is trying to treat symptoms rather than the actual sickness here. That being the current gameplay meta where very specifically one class of ships (cruisers) won't push because the power (and accuracy) creep in BBs means they are easy food, which in turn means that some BBs don't want to push because they expect to not have any back-up, etc. pp.. Also the high repaircosts for the high tiers which promotes more defesnive playstyles because being gung-ho and getting your ship blown up costs a metric ton of credits. That has nothing to do with the Standard Battle mode and any passive (the correct word would be "defensive") gameplay strategies that's allegedly negatively impacting the game. Another thing about this change is the meta regarding to played ship classes. With Domination mode being guaranteed for tier VII ships an upwards, DDs will quite likely see a surge of popularity as they are arguably the best ship to perform well in Domination mode. WG had made a bunch of changes to reduce the torpedo soup issue, but making DDs more attractive to play might just cause the same problem to resurface by virtue of simply more DDs being around that can and will use torpedoes. Rather than removing Standard Battle mode, I would've liked to see some economy changes to see if a more lenient economy brings back a more proactive gameplay mindset in hightier battles rather than the current "don't hurt my precious ship" mentality. Likewise, WG needs to introduce a ship class that actually can screen a fleet from DDs. Current high tier cruisers with their slow turning, slow firing 200+mm caliber guns are suboptimal to fight DDs given the short amount of time a decently played DDs is only ever going to be spotted at any given moment. Likewise, any DD will spot those cruisers long before they enter their own detectability range, lighting them up for other cruisers and BBs to shoot (see above mentioned reluctance to push in cruisers). CVs are still not present regularily enough to counter (read: spot) DDs, partly due to the ongoing buffs to AA (the AA guns mod 3 bonus being improved isn't going to help that I fear). Give players more incentive to play CVs so they are actually part of the gameplay meta rather than being a mere occasional occurance. We will obviously have to see how this pans out in the long run, but I'm sceptical for the mentioned reasons and most definately don't think WG is adressing the problem of passive gameplay from the right angle.
  21. You did misunderstand if that's what you took from my comment regarding cruiser efficacy in killing DDs.
  22. Just had a game in my Kamikaze R and the HUD spontanously decided to quit on me. Had to play the game with the HUD missing missing most of the time (sometimes it would flicker on and off when the camera was moved a lot). The game also ended up freezing up and when I tried to Ctrl+Alt+Delete, the screen just went black and the PC unresponsive, had to reset. Sadly that crash also appears to have munched up the replay file so I don't have a replay to show, but I've taken screenshots and copy&pasta'd the match's python log: Not pictured: -UI sometimes flickering in and out -UI fully visible just as the game froze up (that screenshot was munched up by the crash the same as the replay file it seems) Python log attached Match python log.txt 74.68K Mods that I use (from Aslain's): -Golden Premium Consumable Icons -Coloured Tracers by 0BlackSkull0 -Extended Techtree -Damage counter + in-battle clock + minimap ship names On the plus side of things, apparently I don't need a HUD to do well in the Kamikaze R. Two kills and 82k damage according to the battle notification after I logged back into WoWS Match python log.txt

    REPORT***

The same happened the last time he ranted in a thread. He's quite the vocal fellow, unfortunately not the most articulate one, at least regarding the English language.
  24. As do I, although I do find me being more reactive when facing higher tier ships in my tier VIII ships. Even bottom tiered I play more proactive, but the unforgiving high tier economy means that if someone gets a doog lick in, I'm going to pay for it hard and chances are that a sufficiently dented ship is going to be focused, thus decreasing its life expectancy and chances to earn some credits even more. In tier VII that's still no problem. I wouldn't want to go head to head against a tier IX ship (although I've certainly done that before, Colorado vs Iowa is an interesting fight), but for as long as I don't derp out and commit suicide by enemy, I can still easily recuperate my repaircosts and some profit even when not having a blast game. I can't do that as easily in my tier VIII ships and I dread to believe what it's like in the even more expensive tier IX ships when I have to face the tier X ships (who typically go with a significant power jump from tier IX) regularily. In short, I think the biggest issue is that the economy is turning player mentality from having fun and "it's just a game" to "if I lose my ship, it's going to be expensive". People think less about what they should do and more about what they shouldn't. That's the negative impact on gameplay, people focus more on what they might lose. The odd players who actually still think the other way around are typically the ones that change the battle with a welltimed push. They win the games, but the majority of passive players make the gameplay environment. I'm aware that WG wants to sell premium time and dealing with the harsher economy being easier with increased credits gain with premium is an intended purchase incentive and thus WG is reluctant to change the economy, but I can't help but think that's the one thing that needs to change in order to make the high tiers more active and fun as a whole.
