  1. Gojuadorai in his Donskoi in a division with Katanuza another player in an Izumo whose nick I shamefully forgot (wasn't familiar). Killed him in my Amagi
  2. Only needed 556 XP on my North Carolina to research the Iowa. If you now think I'd free XP that, shame on you! Any excuse to roll out this beautiful lady is a good excuse. So I teamed up with Mandyxx in his Atago. Got a VERY nice matchmaking (for me anyway ), though it looked like we'd lose the game for a good while since the enemy pushed hard on the west flank and for some reason a New Mexico and later a North Carolina thought it would be a good idea to charge into that bunch of ships more or less alone (I was keeping them at arms length and slowly retreating as there was no point in holding a bit of ocean), naturally they got focused and died swiftly. In the meanwhile, my AA gunners were having a field day with all those Ranger and Ryuujou aircraft that kept flying into my AA range (and my NC is kitted out for AA, AA guns modification (20% range) on the ship and AFT and Manual AA Control on my captain. Slowly whittling down the pushing enemies worked and around halfway into the game that attack was thoroughly crushed, so I headed towards their cap to put some pressure on the enemy and maybe get some CV booty. Enemy Fusou happened to be close, so I shot at it and took off 36k in a driveby before I had to turn out because of an approaching Hatsuharu, plus juicy CV booty being a better target after the Fusou started to run for it. Some torps were dodged (sadly took one that I couldn't evade), put a shot in the Hatsu, then some into the Ranger, then finished off the Hatsu for my Confederate, then the Ranger for the High Caliber in the next salvo. Long range shots against the running Fusou were sadly led a bit too much and even though I put a bit good damage into the Ryuujou, the bell saved it and denied a potential Kraken. However I do believe the result was decent enough as it is: Personal Score And I even got the n00b's official Seal of Approval with subsequent postmatch hackusations What a way to finish the ship ... except that I won't retire her, she's a keeper! And if anyone's interested in the replay, since I couldn't help but tease the salty Fusou with, might aswell link it here if anyone has a genuine interest in watching it.

  7. Well then a free respec for all captain skills. People have been lobbying for one ever since the torpedo changes for the hightier IJN DDs that didn't come with a free respec after the torpedo changes made the torpedo acceleration perk undesireable for most players in high tier DDs. Or the devs can think of another esoteric solution that grants people the option to choose thei own tier 1 captain perk, but simply arbitrarily deciding that BoS is going to be it is far from the best choice WG can make here. I mean the entire point to this change is to increase the number of viable captain builds since beforehand more or less everyone went for SA. Simply dictating which skill you get instead isn't exactly improving variety.
  8. Just read it. Situational awareness now being a default UI element is imho a good thing. But why the arbitrary Basics of Survivability skill exchange? I'd much rather have other skills for a significant number of ships, say Basic Firing Training for more or less all DDs for example. Simply remove SA as captain skill and give players a free skillpoint to assign freely!

Ranked for competitive, Random for casual play?

Entirely depends on the match-up and other players' skill. If some random blob goes full Leroy Jenkins and dies, it's typically not to my enjoyment since it means our team fights the rest at a numerical disadvantage and I personally find any mentality that goes on a basis of "screw everyone else, I'M going to have fun" as egoistic douchcanoeing in a teambased multiplayer game. If a person wants to have fun doing whatever he wants with no regards to others, they're welcome to play a singleplayer game or a free-for-all type multiplayer where their actions don't have negative consequences for other players. I won't tear my hairs out over something like that unless half the team decided a suicide rumba through the strait in Two Brothers, but I will exert a resignating *sigh* and prepare myself to carry at least one teammember's worth through the game if I want to win. I am aware that I'm being very obstinately demanding with my principles here and it is entirely in the realms of possibility that there is a genuinely intent-to-learn-and-win player that simply didn't know better yet who'd do something an experienced player would consider downright stupid through lack of awareness, enemy prediction or whatnot, though I typically do toss them a quick reminder in teamchat, so I suppose after they ignored it they are square back in the "don't care, having fun" category ... then again there ARE language barriers in the EU server I'll keep with my intial statement: I'd have to judge that one on a case-by-case basis. Giving a categorical answer wouldn't ring true.

    Jinxed ships

Well it was lowered a bit into the water so the actual engine room citadel is harder to hit with a flat shell trajectory from what I gathered (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). I still found the Kirov to be easily citadelled by aiming for the magazines below the turrets. Armour is the same crap, but when you hit there and penetrate, it WILL be a citadel.

Ranked for competitive, Random for casual play?

From the moment on people start the game I expect them to invest at the very least enough mental capacity to understand how to play the game. That means what you're supposed to do in any given ship (-class), what you ought to do to win (because I refuse to believe people play to lose!). And if those two conditions are met, players are fine by me and already more than most players I tend to meet ingame. Playing well is less a matter of skill and more about a proper mindset, skill comes naturally if you are willing to learn and have a modicum of ambition to win. When I'd expect people to be skillfull is a different matter altogether and not easily answered in simple tiering.

    Jinxed ships

Looking at my Karlsruhe stats ... ^^ This. Karlsruhe was easily one of the most enjoyable t4 cruisers and considering we're talking about the Phoenix and Kuma here, that's tough opposition. As for cursed ships: Amagi. Just look at my stats with it, then compare that with basically every other ship ...

    Colorado vs North Carolina

Liked the Colorado a good deal ... that isn't saying too much, I tend to like all ships unless they are unredeemably bad, though I did like the Colorado more so than the Nagato (which is a very solid ship in its own right) in fact. Colorado is tough as a German Army cookie, has got good firepower, good enough AA to discourage CV strikes and is manouvreable enough to dodge well, although it's slow. That, the low gun range and the below average healthpool are the things that limit the Colorado. Now the North Carolina ... I immediately fell in love with that ship, the stock NC I might add (!!!). Angled it's even a tougher nut to crack and its armament layout does allow for decent angling for a full salvo and is notoriously good when forgetting about the aft turret and just going bow-on. The guns are different compared to the Colorado's. The latters quirk was the guns being very accurate with nice grouping the closer you got to the enemy, the NC doesn't really have that. But you get a lot more range as compensation and as it stands right now, the guns do a good job unless RNG decides to screw you over. The next thing is the AA. Colorado was good enough to make it an undesireable target for CVs, but not good enough to truly defend itself from same or higher tier CV attacks if they wanted to strike you. Now the NC ... oh boy. You'll feel robbed whenever there isn't a CV in the game. To put it into perspective, I have my NC specced for full AA performance (AA range mod on the ship, AFT and Manual AA Fire Control on the captain) and anything within 7.2km around my NC is a hazard zone for aircraft. Equal tier CVs will lose the majority of their planes when they get within the 5km radius of my 40mm Bofors, higher tier CVs will also pay a dear price in aircraft if they want to strike (a Midway learned that the hard way after losing 25 planes to my AA) and lower tier CVs don't even get their planes close enough to release their payload. Combine that with even just rudimentary evasion skills and CVs will cease to be a problem to you. The worst they can do is force you to evade and risk enemy shots at a less angled side in the process. Sadly the NC is nowhere near as manouvreable. It's faster, but it turns like a brick and slow at that. Being bow-on is as much a benefit as it's a necessity with the ship. Because it turns slowly, you will need to commit to a course and make sure it doesn't lead into harms way (or rather, not into harms way you couldn't take in your BB). Long story short: NC is a definate step-up from the Colorado, but slightly different than a simply upgrade and will require an adjusted playstyle.

I think my convert xp is blocking me from getting a ship

It says smackdab there you need 120k XP to unlock the NC. That number did not change when you upgraded the Colorado hulls. What one earth made you think it does and was apparently more likely than reading the cold, hard fact that's right there on your screen? I'm sorry for being a bit harsh here, but reading comprehension man. READING COMPREHENSION!!!

FUSO the the worst boat of the game

10/clickbait, would bang, would not shoot out a torpedotube. Came in here with torches, pitchforks and Fusou fanboy banners flying only to see that you're talking about the stock hull ... well played sir! Stock Fusou is indeed meh. Probably the biggest meh where stock hulls are concerned in the current version of the game. But as others have said, either free XP that B hull or take the pain for some games (I don't even know how much XP it is to B hull, but at tier VI it can't be too much). Once you get that Pagoda-style tower on the B hull with its elevated rangefinders and your neat 19,6km range (without GFCS upgrade!) you'll love it.
  19. Unintentional_submarine is going to like this one Personal Score Nürnberg had been sitting in my port unloved for quite a while (with that whole too high in the water shebang, etc.) and I thought I might just take it out for a couple spins and actually continue my grind with the German cruiser line. Not nearly as good as the Cleveland or Budyonny and less punch than the Aoba (and OMG the HE shells are like throwing pillows at those ships!!!), but the guns are at least accurate, have long range and good shell velocity so gunnery is a joy with the ship, even if everything else isn't.

    Please add this

Blueline huggers are misunderstood. Blueline needs hugs too, because it's pretty lonely at the edge of the map. That's why it's called blueline, not happyline. Be a good neighbour, hug a blueline near you, share the love

  23. Aye, that game was full of forumites. Like an old class meeting, everyone trying to shoot each other
  24. I swear I would've gotten that bloody Izumo if I had just had a splitsecond more time to press the fire button on my torpedo salvo. His damn secondaries got me literally as the finger pressed down on my mouse button
  25. The thing is, even if a freak accident ends up with a totally unexpected teamkill that you or perhaps even both parties aren't at fault for (that can happen, however unlikely that is), being pink itself doesn't penalize you. The actual punishment for being pink is that any damage you deal to teammates is reflected on you. So unless you continue to deal damage to your allies, being a pinkie means literally nothing to you.
