Whats the tactic for destroyers that just machine gune you from smoke?
Aotearas replied to _x_Acheron_x_'s topic in General Discussion
Your persistent disregard for what I've actually written suggested otherwise. I said turning away and increasing the distance is an option if one doesn't need to show your vulnerable side to other enemy ships. If there's a battleship just waiting for it or even a cruiser at a close enough distance to penetrate with AP, then of course making the turn is inadvisable. That's when option 2 and 3 come in depending on what ship and the exact situation. If nothing of the mentioned options is beneficial, the only recourse is to weather the HE barrage (BBs have plenty enough health to tolerate one DD spamming you with HE, even with fires thanks to the damage repair party) and not worsening the situation with foolish actions (like say turning broadside when a couple ships are just waiting to put a couple citadel penetrations into you). Obviously not getting into a situation that would necessitate making a long turn even when a DD decides to use an offensive smoke in the first place is preferable and can be achieved halfway consistently even with agressive playstyles if you read the map and enemy intentions correctly. If you want to say I'm mistaken, then flatly say as such and state why that would be the case. Then I have a basis to clear up a potential misunderstanding. But making a condescending remark is neither constructive feedback, nor does it paint a picture of someone interested in an exchange of experience. -

If making a turn shows a broadside, then I won't make that turn. Is basic cause and effect such an alien concept to you or do you seriously think everyone except you is a mental retard that can't count one and one together? You really need to check that ego, if you inflate that any more you're going to spend the rest of your life as a weatherballoon. -

I still remember your reading comprehension not being up to par so I'll make it easy for you and highlight the important part that you seem to have missed: Considering our performance stats are pretty much equal for comparable battleships, I'm sure you'd only love to see me on the enemy team if you relish a good challenge -

Why do people write "gg" in chat when it wasn't?
Aotearas replied to Deckeru_Maiku's topic in General Discussion
Eh, I don't always type GG in global chat, but when I do it was because I had a particular fun game. If anyone wants to supplant context into that and use it as an excuse to throw a temper tantrum, it's their prerogative. Complaining about "gg" in chat even after a lopsided game is a textbook case of "offense is taken, not necessarily given". -

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
Aotearas replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Just last game I met puxflacet in his Pensacola. Sadly his team was pretty happy with broadsiding, so after a couple fire exchanges he was essentially left alone to run for his hide. Bell saved him, because I had a pretty decent salvo incoming -

And props to the DD driver if it works. Though typically a BB doesn't have to run far, especially when you actually have some cruisers with you, since DDs tend to use an offensive smoke at a bit of distance. So if you can put possibly 2km more between yourself and the spewing DD you can already be out of his range and that's still plenty close enough for a BB to be a solid backbone for his cruisers provided he knows when to turn around and push again and the cruisers don't mindlessly rush ahead unawaare of their surroundings. -

For a DD (or any other ship exploited smoke to fire at you whilst undetected you technically have three course of actions available: -Run away to get outside the DDs firing range or line-of-fire (cover), forcing him to abandon his attack or exit the smoke and potentionally reveal himself to you and your allies. -Rush the smoke and kill the offending ship (very risky, but depending on your ship, your consumables (Radar or HAS, the likelyhood of getting torpedoed or running into more enemies on the way, it can be quite successful) -Kill the smoke exploiters eyes, i.e. his allies that are spotting you. Without anyone having line of sight to you, a DD can't shoot at what he doesn't see. In a BB, I'd typically favour the first option, provided I doesn't necessitate me giving a broadside to enemy ships in a turn. A cruiser with HAS can aggressively push into smoke, so if there aren't too many other enemy ships firing at you, option two isn't typically bad. The third option is largely hypothetical because you typically tend to be spotted by more than one or two ships at any given moment, making it unfeasable to destroy all of those in a timely enough fashion that you actually benefit from a shorter overall period of being detected. -
Dat necro. Also, lulz at people who actually think the human eye (and the brains' visual cortex) percieve rapidly changing single images. The human eye is reacting to light stimuli constantly, every whatsoever instance that light shines on the receptors (rods and cones in our retina), a signal is sent to the brain to interpret it into an image. By definition, the frames per second a human eye can technically percieve is infinite. Theoretically one might calculate the time any given receptor needs in between firing a neural signal as a physical limit, but that doesn't account for other receptors not being in perfect sync, nor does it account for the fact that we have basically no idea exactly how the visual cortex works, how it interpretes the signals and how important each signle signal is to the final image our brain generates for us to "see". The usual "human eye can't see more than 24/30/35/insert arbitrary number eerily similar to currently widespread media framerate standards" nonsense is COMPLETELY deprived of any scientific basis as it gets the most fundamental aspect of the topic wrong: the human eye is not a camera.

A good CV player is a big threat, moreso than any other single ship played well, but it's not an automatic game winner. If a single CV can win the game, then the recieving team was cooperating with their demise. Even a good CV can only make a dozen or so attack runs during an entire game until the time limit runs out, so unless he kills his target with every strike or maybe even multiple targets by splitting his attack planes, he won't win the game by himself ... and if every strike is successful, you'll have ample reason to distrust the victims' evasion skills.

Just a day? Imho anytime someone does two teamkills (not including getting credit for one's own demise, so technically -3) should automatically flag the account for review by WG staff and be suspended until the case has been reviewed. Penalty would be a 1 week Wargaming account suspension (meaning suspended from playing any Wargaming games or using any ressources (Gold/Doubloons/Premium time) tied to that account) and the reviewer going in with the mentality of guilty until proven innocent unless the review can decidedly refute doubts about to the intend and state with confidence that it was in fact just a freak incident. Repeat offenders or people with a significant amount of automatic teamkill flags in the system (that threshold should be rather easy to determine with statistic averages and outliers) will have their Wargaming account permanently banned and just because some people need to get a kick in the balls to understand the point: no refunds for any Gold/Doubloons, premium time and premium vehicles; whatever they had on that account is gone for good.

Destroyer Weekend - will Blyskavica, Sims, Anshan be on sale ?
Aotearas replied to BdW_Marecc's topic in General Discussion
Especially after you could get the Tachibana for essentially free during the still rather recent GNB event. And I'm pretty sure all the collectors and RN fans who needed their British shot already got the Campbeltown anyway. -

Destroyer Weekend - will Blyskavica, Sims, Anshan be on sale ?
Aotearas replied to BdW_Marecc's topic in General Discussion
Was looking forward to see if the Blyskawica would be sold again, at best even at a discount. Currently have 70€ sitting on my gaming budget. Would've even bought a bundle if it came with a sizeable amount ESCL and ZH signal flags (plus the usual doubloons) if it didn't exceed 30€ because I would be looking to train up that captain. The other part of the budget is currently reserved to see how the Dunkerque will be priced. But with no Blyskawica for sale, that's a flat 30€ that WG isn't getting. I'm not paying anything for a tier III premium ship and I already have the Tachibana from the GNB event. Incidentionally, the current 2K Humble Bundle is looking mighty juicy and I suddenly have 30€ free to spend. -

Gee, that's a short fuze you got there. From the looks of it that was just a bit banter. Every game I know that you play against other people has it. And I don't even just mean videogames. People do that when they're playing football with others after school, etc. pp. Contrary to the harmless bit of banter, you and the guy in the screenshot just threw a temper tantrum that's just as much, if not more childish. Cool down a bit. -

Do I have enough time left to get two of the Fog Ships?

Depends entirely on how much and how well you play. 1.000.000 damage and 2.000 hits can be done in a week if you grind hard. -
Is WoWS going the same way as WoT?
Aotearas replied to Dirty_Filthy_Scrublord's topic in General Discussion
Look mate, I never said I was personally having problems with bow-on Yamatos. But it's a point that gets regurgitated on and on and on, enough times that you snapped at me when I mentioned it. Yes, a bow-on Yamato can still be killed, but the matter of fact is that less Yamato's would try to abuse the overmatch mechanic by parking bow-on (or otherwise heavily angled) if there was an immediate danger of taking a Midway or Hakuryu airstrike to your broadside because they were an immobile, massive target. A CV in the game forces people to move to avoid such and just that alone is a noticable rebalance between a Montana and a Yamato. Same with the other common complaints I've mentioned (unspotted DDs and torpedoes everywhere, none of which would be much of an issue if Cvs were around and actively spotted DDs and torps). I mentioned those common complaints to illustrate how the presence of a (competently played) CV would minimize, if not outright solve, those problems that people seem to be having. You get what I'm trying to say? -

You do realize that tier VIII can and will see tier X matchmaking, right? I do have a couple tier X games under my belt. Not that I needed them because my argument about lack of CVs in hightier battles is based on global statistics, not anecdotal evidence. Personal experience is always welcome, but not necessary to come to my conclusion ... anyone with basic math comprehension can see the trend and extrapolate its effect on the metabalance with even basic knowledge on how a CV can impact a match. It's really not rocketscience ...
