I'm having trouble following the recent discussion here, so someone clear it up for me: Is this scuffle about the Tirpitz being a bad ship, or about it not overperforming enough for a premium? Because really, the Tirpitz is amazing and the immense tactical value of those torpedoes is off the damn charts. I've seen BBs devolve into downright panic mode when I actually push up, which typically ends in them giving broadside. And those that don't simply get a smattering torpedo driveby. Tirpitz is THE ship to just laugh at the bow-on camping meta of high tier BBs crash their camp-party like a battering ram. If the Tirpitz were any better (access to HAS, better AA or those amazing secondaries) she would be disgustingly OP.

Some naughty WG employee pressed the button a bit early it seems.

[SCRUB] The Scrubs - Recruitment thingy
Aotearas replied to Loran_Battle's topic in Clan Recruitment
Going solo through the channel is inefficient. You only lose 1/12th of the team doing that alone. A full division will mean the loss of 1/4th. You should know how dependable the average team is to do your bidding. Even if I die as fast and hard as humanly possible, that's still eleven players that could ruin my loss! I don't trust randoms enough to take those chances.- 3,079 replies

Hey, I was genuinely questioning if you were making an intentional play by using a common idiom in a way that contradicts the original meaning. And I baited that other guy ... but those two are entirely unrelated, I swear!

How the game determines drops and checks against duplicates isn't a baseless assumption. But since you're so eager to just brush of my advice and denounce my learning capacities I doubt I'd have to waste time going into more detail as I already did. Take it or leave it, whichever suits your attitude best.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

Don't be impressed by the credits, completed the third stage of the Dogger Bank mission in this game. That's not why I'm posting this. it was the knifefighting against the Aoba, Pensacola and North Carolina at the A cap that brought this game here. Also the warm welcome of the enemy team when they saw our Fiji and 2x Belfast division And then there was this game: Three full caps, one partial cap and a neat bit of damage on top. I'd say getting only 2315 base XP for that is a robbery! I even had to race back and save our CV from a New Orleans that came up to hunt it. Had to engage him in a slugging duel if I wanted to save our CV. Lost half my health there but kept the New Orleans busy, plus I'm fairly certain my HE barrage knocked out a fair bit of AA which made it easier for the Lexington to finish it off in self defense. For the record, I totally had that sucker under control, which is why I felt no qualms in finishing off the Budyonny that was certainly dead as the DBs set him on fire with only ~3k HP left (a fire that wouldn't have stuck if I hadn't forced its DC earlier), which turned out to deny the CV the fifth kill (though I hadn't paid attention to the kill count so I wasn't actively trying to deny a Kraken!). Both my and the enemy CV got compliments for having played well. I'm really, REALLY liking the Benson -
It's not without reason to buy the crates smaller numbers at a time. The game determines the drops in the crates and checks what premium ships you have at the moment you recieve them. So if you buy lots of crates and get multiple ship containers, there's a chance that you can get duplicate ships. If you however buy the crates in smaller stacks, the chance to get more than one ship per bunch is very low, which almost eliminates the chance for getting duplicate ships. If you buy for example 20 crates at once, get lucky with three ships, you might end up with one or possibly two duplicates, which translates into only one ship and some spare doubloons (plus two port slots and two captains). If you buy those same crates in stacks of five and not get more than one lucky ship per stack, you are guaranteed to get three unique ships.

Well, wouldn't be the first time WG didn't document a change in the patchnotes. We'll see tommorrow.

PSA: 0.6.0 patch bug - DO NOT leave captains in premium ships tonight
Aotearas replied to ilhilh's topic in General Discussion
Time to sharpen my pitchforks again, because I have reserve captains sitting on premium ships that are training/trained to ships that already have a a captain and obviously I can't put two captains on a single ship ... If this is going to be an issue, support is going to have a bit of work to do. -

I like how those question go from "stealth is dead, you've got blood on your hands" over "okay, maybe it's not gamebreaking" to finally "so it's not overpowered" as if to suggest players are suddenly okay with it. That's propaganda 101, form the opinion for your audience yourself.

Not mentioning ambush scenarios at all. Yes, much thought given. Perhaps even so much they realized they don't have a sassy answer to brush over player concers regarding ambushes with. But whatever, game apparently needs more crutches to replace actual player skills.

The truthfulness of my point varies from situation to situation. Anyhow the crux of my argument is that there is no such thing as going first or not. There's only going into something you can't handle or not. A BB can push aggressively against 2+ cruisers, but a cruiser can't push aggressively into 2+ BBs. Knowing your limits and your potential is what's important, not whether you have a meatshield in front of you or not. And reluctancy to be the first one in is something that can very easily spiral out of control when no one wants to be the first guy, ending in games where one team hardly ever leaves their spawn zone and just lets the enemy team control the entire map, which more often than not is giving away a major advantage.

You missed a word in your thread opener then

Problem with being the tail end is you only get to pick on seconds. First one's into the breach not only get the lion's share of enemy attention, they also tend to be the first to exploit opportunities such as an unaware ship broadsiding that an ally just slightly down the line might not have an angle on. It's all just a means of juggling your survivability vs your lethalty. If you die early, you do little damage. If you hang back too much, you do little damage. Finding the balance between what your ship can take and how much you can dish out in return is what should dictate your actions.

Despite in danger of sounding like a broken record: WG, stop taking drugs. Drugs are bad, mkay.

I like making people squawk indignantly and those who get their pantsu rustled so effortlessly squawk most blyatiful. Alternatively: The term is widespread enough to be recognizable (you instantly recognized it afterall), thus making it an easy reference. Alternatively #2: I was adding a lighthearted joke to the language lecturing. Alternatively #3: Take your pick.

Patch 0.6.0 Patch Notes - RPF is still a thing

Typical statistics BS. Especially given WG holds zero accountability to release the data sets they base their decisions on they could claim anything they want and point to undisclosed surveys, statistics or whatever random gibberish Vitali saw in his alphabet borscht last day. -

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

This game stood out from the crowd: A great game in my Mogami (155mm setup, naturally) that ended in a whopping 3k base XP. I didn't even realize I was doing particularily well until I saw the Kraken achievement pop up after I killed the Lexington and right before the game ended. This match simply flowed. -

Imho clans shouldn't be charged for as long as there are zero clan activities in the game. That's like paying for the privilige of watching paint dry. -
Patch 0.6.0 Patch Notes - RPF is still a thing
Aotearas replied to StuntMan0369's topic in General Discussion
Precisely. Either that or WG is discriminating their survey to specific target groups and I just happened not to fall within the group whose opinion matters to WG. Anyway you chew that, it tastes like a load of bull! -
Do you mean to say you care about this and are just too tsundere to admit it, or did you get the idiom "couldn't care less" wrong?
