    Game Vs Real Ship Specs

Balance > Realism. Regarding torpedo tubes, fixed torpedo launchers (as a lot of ships had them up until WW2 when in fact most such tubes were removed in modernizations) were never an effective weapon to begin with and their position and fixed nature would require you to aim them with your entire ship (and more often than not giving broadside as most were sidemounted).

How can we prevent this from happening almost every game?

Your question is answering itself. Colorado only does 21 knots, most everyone else does 30+. That means everyone else is going to be further up the front and thus a more likely target for the enemy than that Colorado trailing behind. Just the fact that you are so slow is already doing half the work for you and as long as you aren't the first and/or only thing for the enemy to shoot at there will always be a more immediate threat for them to fight with. Try again. Or rather don't, that was rhetorical as your assertion is plainly wrong. Also, you really shouldn't be starting THAT argument about who plays what Mr. St. Lious. All that stuff about throwing stones inside a glasshouse and everything ... Anyhow: As long as you doggedly insist on ignoring the simple fact that those who don't have a problem with +/-2 MM are not only okay with being toptier but also with being bottom tier, this discussion has run its course. Not that the ongoing effort in trying to discredit nonconfirmong opinions by insinuating psychopathic tendencies is helping your argumentation either.

Old WOT exploit is back in WOWS. Still not fixed.

I'd just like to make everyone aware that certain knobends from that [sCRUB] clan had been conspiring to clickdivision in an attempt to rig my poor winrate to the bottom of the ocean. They tried to trick me into believing that we'd end up on the same team and we could have fun together, but quite clearly their real objective was to gang up on poor me 3vs1. The circumstance that they succeeded every single time can only mean those cheating window lickers rigged the MM to their advantage. I'm also fairly certain they bribed my teams to sabotage my winning chances considering the performances of my supposed teammates have been suspiciously inept. Quite clearly this can only mean that some ignominious backroom door politics have taken place. The sophistication of that act must've been quite devious as we even were on the same TS channel and fainting a humourous atmosphere yet I suspect they had actually used a second VOIP program simultanously and the actual banter I recieved were prerecorded tapes. Though since I can't observe every available VOIP source I can obviously not prove that malevolence, but it HAD to be there!!!

Report to support. If he scams people out of real money, he's a criminal and steps have to be taken by WG to prevent such illegal activity, even if it's just banned his account(s) permanently.

??? What you're referring to (the german sailors mutiny 1918 in Wilhelmshaven and Kiel) was marked by strong socialist ideology which is about as far from the Nazi fascism as it can get on the political spectrum.
  7. Looks like teams like I've gotten today weren't just me being incredibly unlucky. Did I miss the international potato appreciation day or something?

  9. As much as I love the Fiji, I can honestly say that in a direct comparision with a Belfast, it loses out. Belfast is stealthier, has better AA, has HE to set fires and more importantly access to Radar. The only things the Fiji got going for it are better AP performance (something which changes dramatically once a target angles against you, in which case the Belfast becomes superiour by virtue of being able to douse it in HE and fires rather than watching your shells shatter or bounce ineffectively) and torpedoes (which is rather impotent since both Fiji and Belfast have HAS, duh). Fiji gets countered so hard by Belfast's radar the only saving grace is that Belfast also hardcounters other Belfasts (which should either make for an interesting midgame clash or an infinite stand-off because no one wants to leave cover only to get blown up ... guess which one is more likely).

Highlighted the relevant part. The fact a human is controlling those pixels doesn't change the fact that you only beat a bunch of pixels. Any argumentation along the lines of doubting one's morals or psychological disposition on this basis is absolutely baseless. Or are you one of those folks who believe that "videogames make you violent" demagoguery? Nonsense. Even if you can't actively chose which ships you run into you can still decide which ones to pick a fight with. If you find yourself alone against the enemy, it's not the fact you're bottom tier that's killing you, that's you having made a disastrous mistake in positioning! As a bottom tier ship you stick around with the other ships and use them as meat shield whilst you provide a more supportive role.
  11. Well, I suppose a Hiryuu with the Dogfighting Expert skill can put up a good fight against a Saipan all else things considered equal, plus Shiratsuyu will be a nasty DD with that torpedo reload booster and them 16 torpedo skillwalls. Also the Gneisenau for something with a higher caliber punch compared to the Scharnhorst, plus that ship has obscenely good AA for a BB for its tier and torpedoes for up close. Not sure how I'd compare a B hull Mahan to a Blyskawica, or how effective a C hull Mahan (or Sims) with Defensive AA would be in going for early caps with CVs present. Also, epicenter on Trident (which is the default map for that tier) is easily one of my favourite gamemodes, together with Domination. That mode and that map actually works ... assuming not everyone wants to hide that massive island in the center (which might become a problem in Ranked battles though ... ). As long as it isn't hightier ranked with Bastion ...

I just want to point out just because there are ships two tiers higher than yours, doesn't mean you absolutely have to pick a fight with them. More often than not you have the option to pick your fight and concentrate your own efforts on equal tier enemy ships (since MM does try and mostly succeed in matching tier for tier in equal numbers for both teams), whilst letting the higher tier ships on your team deal with their counterparts. And that snippet about enjoying beating weaker opponents being a disorder that warrants a visit with the doctor is incorrect and in extremely poor taste when using that to describe behaviour in inconsequential videogames. Might aswell brand everyone who plays videogames a psychopath because they enjoy beating opponents. I enjoy winning and if that happens to be relatively easy because I'm toptier then that isn't my fault. I can also enjoy a hardfought defeat, does that make me a masochist?

How can we prevent this from happening almost every game?

That heavily depends on the respective tier and player count at that time. Getting purely tier IX and X games for example is something I reckon would be much harder without any tier spread than getting the same thing to work at tier VI and VII for example. Also fringe hours like the morning and late evening would suffer significantly since much less people are online on those times. I get where you're coming from and I can agree that some match-ups are incredibly tough (some noticeable powergaps between for example tier V and VII and only slightly less so between tier VI and VIII), but overall I think it's fair. One might experiment with a +/-1 MM rather than a +/-2 (or *shudder at the thought* +/-3 as was sometime during alpha/beta) within limited tier brackets (like the protected MM at tier IV) but that is also a balancing issue for the ships themselves. Though personally I don't think that is necessary for as long as MM can provide a relatively consistent spread between being bottom, mid and toptier in games aswell as tier spread for each individual match. Tier V and VI MM needs some work in that regard as they get uptiered a lot compared to tier VII and VIII MM, but I don't think it warrants the need for protective MM.
  15. I tried doing that for some time but the typical results interspersed with outright hostile reactions even when I just gave them a tip in an objective fashion, even without actively criticizing them, have put me off trying to do it. If someone is asking for tips I might provide some where it fits the situation, but I won't bother wasting my breath and testing my patience by initiating it on my own.

How can we prevent this from happening almost every game?

It would also mean a much smaller player pool the MM can draw from for any given tiered match, thus resulting in typically longer waiting times and a higher risk of quirky match-ups if the desired optimum ship-class balance can't be maintained.
  17. Nope. I'm not anyone's subordinate as there is no chain of command or whatever in the game. I have zero obligation to follow some chair admiral's biddings and even less motivation if (more often than not) those orders make little sense in that situation like say focus B+C when the vast majority of ships spawned closer to A and B and C is a bad cap to fight over from that side of the spawn anyway (Shards being a good example). I'm also rather confident that I know what I'm doing most of the time so any sensible advice (forget C, let's focus A+B) I would be going there on my own to begin with (duh). Besides, the times I witnessed people actually coordinate successfully in chat towards a sensible goal (the latter being more important, because apparently it's pretty easy to convince people to go through the channel on Two Brothers ...) are so rare and positively dwarfed by the amount of times when people outright denounce sensible advice ("don't show broadside to that enemy battleship, angle towards it" -> "stfu n00b, I'm crossing his T" -> *splat* -> "OMGWTF enemy battleship one shot killed me u cheat!") that quite frankly I've given up on trying to coordinate with randoms unless they initiate it first and seem to be halfway competent with their assessment (and even that doesn't guarantee they won't brainfart later on anyway).

Something positive (New skills in general)

Well okay, two BS skills. Don't play enough CVs to be properly exposed to that CV balancing madness on a regular basis
  19. I've played a couple times with Skyllon and even bottom-tiered in a Fusou he was right alongside me and pushing in a game that was looking to shape up a loss for the first two thirds of the game until we fought ourselves through for a comeback. So no, I don't think he'd just throw his arms in the air and just don't care as soon as winds pick up a bit of speed. But some games you simply can't win and the most economic course of action is to simply farm damage for a bit more credits and XP. And kiting/stealthfiring is simply a very effective method for that. Sometimes little (more importantly: typically sunk) stratego-kiddies take offense for people outliving them and their cunning plans and throw hissy-fits. That is what I presume happened to Skyllon: the rush B lemming blyats died and reported him out of spite. I've seen worse spiteful stupidity than that really.

Something positive (New skills in general)

KI/RPF/RDF/RL is really the only bad thing in the last patch. If that thing is simply gone and the rest stays as is, I'd be more than happy with the patch. Barring that one BS skill that some classes simply need in order to stay competitive against anyone else using it (making it a self-fulfilling prophecy really), the flexibility in how to build a captain for different ships is VASTLY improved compared to the old system, satisfactory to me as a possibly final result even, unless WG wants to fundamentally change how to handle captain perks and their progression.
  21. I'm fairly confident in assuming Skyllon didn't cause his team's defeat by playing impassively. It's more like he simply switched to farming damage after the game was beyond salvaging and was reported out of spite by some idiotic teammate whose "Rush B cyka blyat" strategy didn't quite work as planned.
  22. The only advice that really matters is don't let it get to you. People are salty all the time. Just ignore it. Even if some insults may hit a bit close to home, don't let it get under your skin. If people go out of their way to send you private messages, you can just put them on your blacklist. If you simply refuse to take offense, you've already spared yourself half the trouble and with just two clicks you can spare yourself the other half. Don't even try to appeal to common decency. Any form of reaction is just something they can latch on to keep going. Unless you're like me and just like to troll those idiots by taunting them for more (which may or may not serve the purpose of securing more evidence to screenshot and forward to support in case of particularily nasty specimen), ignore them, block them and be done with it. And if they get salty because you outplayed them, take it as a badge of honor! It's the n00by way of congratulating superiour plays.
  23. You'll have to ask Loran or BadGene about that. Just pop by our thread here, that's the easiest way. You can also always just poke us when we're on TS or in the forumites channel ingame, unless we're full already we always like to division up with folks.
