Why, the salty depths boiling with impotent rage is only the natural habitat for potatoes. How do you think potato soup was discovered?

Two people playing together, synergizing and exploiting their strengths shouldn't be easily countered by a single player without the proper tools for it. That is the start and end of that particular debate. What you can do is ask your teammates that do have the right tools to deal with that situation (in case of smoke, cruisers with radar, DDs that could torpwall the smoke or maybe smoke you up in turn for you to disengage). And if that doesn't work, don't begrudge the enemy for their teamwork, begrudge your team for not working together!

Why would members of the same clan being on opposing sides be something to be concerned about? I hope this isn't going to be one of those recent tinfoil hat threads that's suggesting that clans would somehow rig matches ... MM can only work with what it gets. If clanmates division up or press battle at the same time (deliberately or not), MM has to put them somewhere, that can also be the same game and sometimes even on the same side. No. No. WG has stated that clans being on opposing sides or even trying to get into the same game by coordinating press battle isn't a violation for as long as they don't help anyone on the enemy team (i.e.: sabotaging your own). IF you notice shady behaviour, send the replay to support with an explanation and they'll take a look to see if anything unfair was being conducted.

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Aotearas replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Not that I see stealthfiring in open sea being much of an issue, but I understand the basic reasoning behind wanting to remove it. Besides stealth firing from behind visual obstructions (smoke/islands) should still remain just the same as the devs have worded it quite specifically "removing stealthfire in open water" on multiple occasions. A good compromise could be that whilst a ship's surface detectability would increase to match the ship's maximum firing range to make invisifiring without visual obstruction mechanically impossible, they should reduce the detectability penalty duration so that you aren't spotted for a whole 20 seconds, but instead much shorter (possibly tied to mainbattery caliber) so that say a DD will get spotted upon firing, but the detectability will revert back to standard a couple seconds after he stops firing (just long enough that when firing close to maximum rate of fire, the DD won't blink in and out of detection, he'd have to actively pause his firing to get undetected again). Mind you, naturally someone making intentional breaks in between salvoes to get undetected, then fire again, then pause can still make it incredibly difficult to get an aimed shot out at the target, but that would be a compromise as the ship employing such a tactic would suffer reduced dpm and can still be hunted down (or evaded) as his position and heading will be known each time he fires. -
What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

Sometimes your best just isn't good enough ... But hey, the game was intense until the last second and I even got complimented (5x!!!) so it was totally worth it and my best game today. Plus together with the Blyskawica game three games later with the Double Strike and the completion of the weekly mission *ba-dung finish* (no regrets for that pun!) I got all the nice flag rewards for today -

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Aotearas replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
HOORAY!!! I finished my Kiev grind today with a worthy final salute. What a clutch! Early on the game started looking bleak and we were woefully behind on ships ever since around half the game. My divisionmate Damanta eventually got overwhelmed as he contested the B cap and we only managed to actually capture a flag quite late into the game, but my trusty Kiev capping the remainder flags kept us in the game for long enough to start racking up a points lead and after defending the C cap and whittling down the enemy North Carolina I managed to secure a big enough points lead that our sole surviving Ryuujou just had to survive until the bell tolls for us to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat! Own team was already taking the loss for certain, but good ole' Kiev persevered like glorious Mother Russia! No effin' compliments for that carry, ungrateful capitalist pigs BOOHOO!!! Now I have to grind the Tashkent -
[SCRUB] The Scrubs - Recruitment thingy
Aotearas replied to Loran_Battle's topic in Clan Recruitment
Reminds me I'll have to make an XCOM2 playthrough and naming all my recruits after Scrubmates. Let's see who eats it first. I'd say Loran, because matchmaking.- 3,079 replies

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?

Him pointing out what you missed is frankly superflous. All you have to do is either read the conveniently marked developer response on the first page of this very forum thread, or read that very same post that I had quoted in response to your comment about exactly that misinformation (and since I had quoted you, forum notification should've made it easier to find that post than the other way around). At this point it's simply inaccurate to claim mtm78 isn't putting the due effort into proving you wrong, you're quite blatantly putting no effort in being right in the first place or this entire little debate would've never made it past comment #18. Do yourself a favour and read the thread before responding, then you can go ahead and decide whether you want to say sorry or continue that little squabble.

This. The only way to play a triple BB division is to hit 'W' four times at the start of battle and then never touch the 'S' button throughout the entire game. Then hope the rest of your team has enough guts to jump into the breach that your BB division is crashing into the enemy lines. If they don't, you die (though you die well and spectacularily). If they do, you steamroll your entire flank. Triple cruiser division however is just asking MM to throw you into a BB heavy game to have the crap shelled out of you. It can work pretty well depending on the map but it's still quite challenging, particularily when MM throws you a curveball.

To be fair, ANY battleship actually pushing is about as common as seeing an invisible unicorn.

Sounds like a pinkie tried to be funny but didn't take the automated TK detection system into account.

Actually WG has stated that it isn't. What they said is a bannable violation would be actively influencing the match by say telling the opponent where you team is, etc. pp.! Queueing up together to try and end up on the same game/same team is NOT considered a rule violation. There you have it, from this very thread.

Three ships of the same class is just asking for matchmaking to go bonkers. Do not recommend. Only exception is triple DD division, but only because that is hilarious to play. Typically you want to create synergy between the ships, so diversifying the classes is incredibly helpful, that way you can compensate for a ship's weaknesses or amplify its strengths.

Why on Earth is WG asking if I/we/people follow the latest music trends? Unless there's a hitchart about naval ambience sounds and artillery fire vinyl records that I somehow missed, what's the relevancy for such a question regarding the World of Warships game!?!? Are we going to get a dynamic disco sound mechanic that's playing the latest chart topsellers when playing the game next or what? Please someone explain that to me.

It's embarrasing how so many folks of the current gaming populace doesn't even know the actual meanings and functional workings of the terms they are so freely throwing around. Sad really, especially when you consider you might have to actually deal with such people on your own team from time to time.
-
Background music is one thing, but I don't think asking about hip-hop, pop or whatever recent music trend (dubstep?) has much in the way to do with background music. That seems to be an entirely different target audience than people who play this game.

Which ship is most demanding to play?
Aotearas replied to loppantorkel's topic in General Discussion
That would be assuming DDs would actually lay a smoke where it makes sense for an Atlanta to be and note somewhere on B9 after they got spotted by the enemy CV they tried to hunt. -

Battleships. Huge target, can't turn to evade torpedoes, starts the match lit on fire and don't hit anything. WG, buff plz!* -
I actually have it on good authority that the Pope likes sealclubbing in the Saint Louis.

Well, with a full concealment build your detectability blooms to ~13.2km with the stockhull. Plenty useful at the later stages of a match, particularily if things went south beforehand and you can't afford to take many more hits. Makes the 155mm Mogami quite potent at kiting. And ~14km distance to maintain stealthfire range isn't that far off the action anyway, you can instantly switch to a more aggressive playstyle and be right back into the thick of it should the situation call for it. And the only worthwhile things you get from the hull upgrades are a bit of HP and a slightly better ruddershift response. In a cruiser during these BB heavy times, only the ruddershift is remotely interesting in that regard and giving up the stealthfire ability (which combined with the massive HE alpha on those 155mm guns!) is a lot to sacrifice in comparision.
