I fail to see the problem here. Any ship that you can't spot since you don't have line of sight on you, can conversely also not spot you by itself. Someone else has to spot you for them. That mechanics is hardly unrealistic either, indirect fire has been a common artillery techique by the timeframe this game is covering. Artillery had advanced past the stage of requiring a direct line of sight on their targets. All they needed was a line of fire and someone to provide target coordinates and their allied ships that do have a line of sight on you do just that. And shooting undetected from 4km away, well ... they're in smoke. There is no other possibility for that. Smoke screens are hardly inconspicious. If you don't like getting shot at by an angry puff, you always have the option to put yurself in a position where it can't fire at you. Or in case of you being as close as 4km, you can push into it. At 2km distance assured ship acquisition will spot the enemy ship, regardless of smoke or island cover. Then you can shoot back. It's rather simple really and all boils down to where you are and where you go. Know the maps, the places where people like to smoke up and plan your movements so you can shield yourself from the most likely attack directions. Keep an eye on what ships the enemy has and where and you can decide whether to push into a smoke, retreat or weather the storm until the smoke runs out (at which point the enemy is either going to disengage by themselves, or be left vulnerable to you). Frankly I can scarce believe it that even after the sledgehammer nerf to stealth mechanics like the recent detectability change, people are still complaining about invisi-firing.

It's still possible to shoot unspotted if no one in the range of the detection bloom has line of sight on you. Say you're hiding behind and firing over an island, or are hidden in smoke.

I was prepared to do the usual talk about not buying premium ships until you've unlocked regular ships of the same tier to get some experience for the tiers you'd be facing, but then I took a look at your profile and have to emphasize my point: With only 59 games played in total I'd refrain from buying premium ships for now. I say that because you have very little experience with the entire game yet. So rather than pouring money into premium ships, I'd rather recommend gaining some valuable experience by playing the regular ships up so some degree. I typically recommend getting to at least tier VI for the mainstay classes (cruisers, destroyers and battleships) as you'll learn a couple very important lessons on how to play the game, how to play the classes (and equally importantly, how to counterplay them, hence why I always recommend playing all classes until you're familiar with their gameplay quirks), learning the maps and where to go on them, etc. pp.. Jumping the learning curve by buying premium ships at a tier level you've not yet reached regularily can end up biting you in the arse easily. And if that wasn't already a demotivating bummer enough, this being a teambased multiplayer also means that if you'd bring your Atago out for spin without really knowing how to play the ship can also be a liability for your teammates. Believe me when I say that I don't mean this patronizing, but you still need to learn a lot of things. And it's both easier and less frustrating to you if you learn them in the lower tiers rather than try learning to swim by hopping into the hightier ocean without floaters so to speak. It will also help you to know which classes and/or particular playstyles you'll end up prefering to play and it would be a shame if you end up investing thirty odd bucks into a ship (or multiple ships) only to possibly regret spending that money on ships you might just let collect dust in port because you simply don't enjoy playing them as much. Case in point, the Atlanta: The ship is undubitably fun to play. It is however incredibly tough to make the ship work. And it isn't cheap with roughly thirty bucks. For the same money, there's a lot of value to be found in other ships, overall better ships in most cases too. My advice would be play the game for a while, maybe read a couple guides on this forum (in the Newcomers and the ship discussion subsections!), watch some videos from Youtubers (Flamu and iChaseGaming for example, plus Yuro (also known as Eurobeat, also also known as atsf) for shits'n'giggles (he's really funny!!!)) and after you've got a bit more experience under your belt, you can come back and ask again (if you even need recommendations at that point). In the end, that's how I think you'll get the most enjoyment and bang for your buck. You might want to invest those 9k doubloons into a bit premium time to speed up the low tier grind on regular ships if you want to. The fun starts at tier IV in most cases (tier V for some late bloomers) and from tier VI onwards you tend to get a good impression on how a line will play.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Aotearas replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Hard carry. More or less all our BBs made some questionable decision, but a couple of them really jumped the cake, leaving me to try and carry the team to a very, very, very narrow victory. Belfast is a cheeky little bastard, but not quite the tankiest so I prefer proper battleships doing the tanking part, however lately even with an abundance of battleships ingame there's a massive shortage of even remotely competent BB players. And as much as I enjoy playing around the limits with my cruisers, I'd much rather like arriving at those limits due to an intensely challenging and well fought game, not intensely challenged players on my team ... I'll take the money though Also, according to my player profile, I just reached a milestone with precisely 5.000 frags. -
A potentially silly question...

Yes, catapult fighters can be used to spot targets behind visual obstructions and incoming torpedoes. That is actually quite handy during many situations -
It's disheartening really. I keep trying to give salute salvoes, but my aim is soo bad I always miss the correct lead and hit the poor fellows instead. I'm really sorry guys. I don't mean to, I just want to be polite

Shaka_D had the misfortune of running into BadGene, robihr and me. But the rest of our team was being special, so I guess that was Karma for the MM throwing him a curveball. We lost, with me having to play chicken against two torpedo cruisers (MK and Mogami) not once but twice whilst our precious BBs were hiding behind like some real tough big battleships. Apparently Shaka's team wasn't that much more gifted though from what he said in chat. Anyhoot, I tried my best but ye can't carry some teams. Shaka got a compliment from us for playing well, as much as we gave him chance for that that is Game crashed right after so I didn't even have time to screenshot the results -

So, since I just had a game in the Belfast and musclememory royally [edited] me over again as I accidentally pressed the wrong button I'd like to use that frustration and vent constructively: As I had already pleaded the devs to consider back in this thread which resonated greatly with the players, when will Wargaming finally either unify the keybindings for consumables to avoid issues where consumables are bound to different keys on different ships, or allow players to rebind those keys to their own preferences? This is the most basic control/UI 101. Can we please, PLEASE (with cherry on top and a flirtations wink from Dasha) get this utterly unnecessary problem solved?

Couldn't have a ship doing better than the premium fire spitter Mikhail Kutuzov.

Eh, even at brawling ranges poor sigma can bite you pretty nasty when that one salvo just goes everywhere except on target. But that's about the only real argument OP has. Alabama has noticably worse sigma ... but that I'm pretty sure every Youtuber who tested the ship said as much, so there's little excuse not to know and expect subpar accuracy with this ship.

I like how the moderators have edited several posts in this thread, but the actual thread is still open despite it being evidently misinformation and quite possible intended to be a flamebait. Someone's not doing their job correctly. InB4EditedDueToDiscussingModerating -
Eh, Blyskawica was always a pretty nifty ship. The stealthfiring was just the cherry on top. I did spec out of AFT on her captain though. Currently pondering whether I should use the captain points for Basic Firing Training or Survivability Expert ...

Star Trek? Türlich. Babylon 5? Warum fragst du noch? Möchstest du Aimbots als Geschütz K.I. für deine dicken Schlachtschiffe? Kannst du haben. K.I. Piloten für deine Raumschiffträger? Null Problem.

Just met Xevious_Red on the (appropriately) red team. He was sailing his Kiev, I was chugging along in my Scharnhorst. Sadly my team wasn't overly gifted so it was a rather lopsided defeat. Only had time for a single salvo at Xevious, but at least I managed to complete stage 4 of the weekly mission with my shiny secondaries He almost got 2k base XP, so he got a compliment for playing well from me. -
How about a ship upgrade that reduces maximum firing range?
Aotearas replied to Aotearas's topic in General Discussion
Aye. Base surface detectability 10.8km (with camouflage make that 10.4km or 10.5km depending how the game rounds). Main battery maximum firing range is 10.2km. Tooltip over detectability says detectability after firing: 10.2km. So yeah, Iwaki Alpha is harder to detect when she's firing her guns than when she's not firing her guns. Russian logic I suppose. -

Doesn't work on premium or tier X ships though.
