Help needed, unable to manual target with CV squadrons.
Aotearas replied to SpamTincan's topic in General Discussion
To be honest, that doesn't change much. Plenty players never realized before. I've seen Taihou players use autodrops exclusively with about predictably disappointing results. What has changed however is that tier IV/V CVs have their damage potential dramatically reduced (since autodrops are terribly inaccurate and some attacks aren't even possible anymore, say launching a spread into a smokescreen to try and get an unspotted ship hiding there) and tier VI CVs can just utterly rape lower tier CVs if they end up together since they have all the options that low tier CVs now lack. Facing Ryuujou/Independence in a Zuiho/Bogue has never been particularily fun, but now that you can't even use strafing attacks to try and make up for for that disadvantage, yet they are free to exploit that ... Also am seeing that many, many Bogue players are preferring the air superiourity loadout again (saw a couple strike/balanced setups beforehand), which only makes the game much harder for competing lowtier CVs, which yet again can only serve to demotivate fledging CV players from progressing if they feel they're just going to get locked out of a match by a couple fighters. -
Most possibly that's a purely economical decision. The article mentions original voiceacting. That's different from just using snipped audio bits and means WG would've had to contract and pay the original voiceactors for their work. That doesn't come cheap. Selling the ships in the premium store is possibly the only way of recouping the investment. Naturally I'd prefer it if there was a campaign set you could complete to unlock the ships, but that would mean a good deal of people might just unlock those ships for free, which is obviously taking chunks out of WG's sales and if they don't run well, content like this won't come again in the future. I'm not one to defend WG's premium ship decisions lightly, but as someone who's dabbled enough in the medium to know that voiceacting can get hella expensive (nevermind possible licensing fees from the series' production studio) I can definately understand why WG wants to sell those. I may not like it (free stuff plz), but I can understand it. Well, at least the ship doesn't seem to have much of a cartoony look to it unlike the ARP ships. Plus it's not unlikely that someone may just create a mod to replace the appearance of those ships (though I'm not sure if they could replace the turret models, plus that might be a bit dangerous if you can't see what armament that one version has only to end up getting suckered by a hail of 100mm shells).

I'm not sure, but didn't WW2 see widespread use of magnetic fuzes rather than impact fuzes, at least in the closing stages of the war?

Have you guys accepted PayPal special offer for WoWs Premium Shop?

Until I see what WG is doing in the near future, my wallet will remain tightlipped. Though the upcoming HSF collaboration with a Kagerou havihg the option to mount Akizuki guns sure isn't making it particularily easy. I shall persevere- 22 replies

Apparently so. I'm a bit worried about how they'd balance the 100mm guns on this ship. Essentially that'd be a Kagerou (best detectability in the game for its tier bracket), now with 3x2 100mm guns (Akizuki turrets) and let's not forget the Kagerou typical torpedoes and manouverability. If they'd just put the Akizuki turrets on there without balancing out the remaining ship characteristics I'd say that would result in quite an overpowered combination.

There's plentyful difference between playing agressively and driving straight into the enemy fleet to have them surround you. I can be straight at the front and still have one side of my ship covered by an island and only show my bow or a heavily angled ship to those who actually have a clean shot at me. If anything I have more troubles managing my health from all the focused fire from cruisers and destroyers that I tend to attract being one of the foremost (visible) targets. But getting smacked by enemy AP salvoes for massive damage? Those instances are negligibly rare. If I take more than 10k damage from a single AP salvo, either the enemy BB got extremely lucky with dispersion and hammered a couple full penetrations into my superstructure, or I messed up hard. Yamato being the only exception due to overmatching and even then I typically succeed in not picking a fair one-on-one fight and would rather abandon a flank and use my superiour speed to relocate than try and bludgoen my way against those odds. -
Option to use the 100mm, neat. If the ship actually allows switching out IJN captains, I'd actually have a couple good reasons to weight against the currently accumulated negatives ragerding buying premiums. Naturally I think that chance is fairly low ...

Interessant finde ich das bei den Tags die BBs fehlen. Gesponsorte Nachricht? Agenda? Geheimkult? Alufolienhüte? -

I'm fairly certain what you actually pay for is the voice-acting as that most certainly didn't come free. My initial question would be if those ships are in their own techtree. -

Pretty sure ship mass has little to do with speed itself, that one is about surface area, etc.. Ship mass however does impact acceleration and deceleration (greater mass will have greater inertia/momentum) and in manouvering, i.e. the amount the ship drifts during a turn (again, mostly due to momentum if you have a lot of ship still trying to go into one direction even though the rudder says another). But pure speed, mass is largely irrelevant. Here what you look at is surface area, hull shape and volume (larger ship means you can put larger, more powerful engines in there).

Who is manouvering the ship to show broadside? I have never been sunk in any of my battleships in one or two salvoes unless I somehow screwed up and showed broadside. Even the mighty Yamato with its lolpen 460mm guns that can overmatch hightier BB bow armour and penetrate the citadel right behind it has NEVER sunk me in so few salvoes. And I'm pretty sure that I'm playing the same game here, with the same ships having the same stats. So if it's not the ship somehow having attained sapience and actively trying to get rid of you by actively suiciding, the only common factor in all your occasions of getting nuked is *drumroll* ... you. -
Not a Moskva payer yet. Only a bit short of the Donskoi and my grind (if one may call me playing like 5 lines simultanously can be called such) has been put on hold in favour for reaching the Des Moines first due to recent detectability changes. But yeah, Developer Diaries and the Armada videos are a prime source of entertainment. Use the Target Acquisition Mod on the North Carolina they say.
-
Well, I ain't gonna lie ... I absolutely have toyed with the idea of a manual secondaries build for the Moskva and only really dropped it because she only gets four double turrets worth of secondaries. If you'd give me a cruiser with longrange secondaries and plenty enough of them to actually pile on some damage (be that direct or by reliably setting some fires)... I may just be mad enough to do it for shits'n'giggles and "a-hon hon hon" like some drugged up french madman in teamspeak as I drive my poor clanmates into disbelieving despair.

Sealclubbing like a bauwz: With manual attacks removed from low tier CVs, there's literally NOTHING that can stop the Imp. A DD ambushing you is about the only equalizer, but well ... you ought to know how many people in the low tiers actually go out of their way to lay an ambush or how easy it is for an experienced player to simply not fall for one ... I almost feel a bit dirty whenever I play the Imp. And then some whacky König decides to shoot a 6k HE salvo into me and all sympathy burned cleanly away 1337 base XP -

Someone applied WD40 to the Mogami 155mm turrets? Is this real life? If so, dayum I might really want to postpone the last 50k'ish XP neded for the Ibiku until that change goes into effect, just to see how delicious the new Mogami would be! -
Then you shouldn't have many problems. So, something's not working out here and it's not the game mode.
-
Ahh, 'The Princess Bride', one of the most true to life social critique movies ever published along with 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail'.
-
Just like a destroyer shouldn't always be hiding in his smokescreen, a battleship shouldn't always try to maintain maximum distance just because it has range. You'd be surprised how good a battleship can push if you raelize the right moment to. Or how fast 5 enemy ships in a cap can turn into 0 enemy ships.
-
Would it help break your writer's blockage if I told you two thirds of his games are in battleships?
-
Nonsense. Spotted aircraft show up just as anything else that's spotted. If they don't it's because nothing is spotting them, duh. Aircraft have a low detectability so if a ship being circled by some pops smoke and thereby loses sight of them, if another ship isn't close enough to spot them for you, well, ain't seeing them. Big surprise!
-
You only suffer because you don't adapt. The only genuine bad gamemode there was had been Bastion and that one was eventually dropped (took them long enough though). I will also agree that the specific map and mode combination of 'Tears of the Desert' and Epicenter is just horrible. And if you just ragequit because the game isn't giving you exactly what you want, you're just being a selfish and entitled [edited]that's sabotaging your allies' chances to have a nice game. Learn and adapt.
