  1. Yeah, I was happy to see so many cruisers as I was trying to get the citadel stage of the mission done with my Hipper, but they camped HARD. Naturally in the potato cap on Okinawa.

    Detonations

Right, since RNG apparently hates me these past couple days and keeps detonating me, I'd really, really like it if it were at least a proper boom and not an insulting *poof*. Or finally get rid of this BS mechanic, but I suppose too many n00bs are dependant on it to do any damage so naturally WG will cater to those potatoes ...

    tiny immersion nitpick

Pretty sure the reason why WG didn't add those effects is because soviet-era PCs being common among their target audience and they wouldn't be able to handle that sort of graphical detail. Ergo we won't be getting that anytime soon.

What is the highest possible torpedo speed with upgrades?

I generally heartily endorse a bit of trolling, but this fellow obvsiously doesn't have the experience to tell you're joking. Bad Cosseria, bad boy! No treat for you.

    Future of the RN?

Waiting for HE only RN BBs
  6. Probably one of the few ships that have just enough AP penetration to get through the armour, but not enough to overpen.
  7. So it never happened to you that someone you know tells you something like "I saw you at the park yesterday" or alike?
  8. I never said anything about p2w ... And I'm not afraid to catering to tier X ships. I have said I'd like it if it were a thing. I just think that in the current MM situation where I see getting into tier X in tier VIII ships more often than not, making tier X ships even more attractive to play is only going to excarbate that particular issue and I'd like the MM kinks to be ironed out first.
  9. Well, at least the tier X camouflage checks the XP and earnings part (-50% service cost and +20% credits does result in a metric ton of credits, plus the +100% XP bonus has that part covered). On one hand I'd love it if the tier X camouflage really turned a ship into a premium in function including free captain switching to it. On the other hand it seems like too many people are playing the tier X ships and suck tier VIII into tier X matches more often than not and that isn't an all too pleasant state for anyone playing tier VIII ships at any moment. And with giving even more bonuses to tier X ships (though paid ones) it would probably only excerbate that trend (if it indeed is one and not just observation bias on my part). And I would rather not have the MM become more skewed than it appears to be right now. Naturally there's plenty other options to keep MM in check even with added bonuses for tier X ships, but frankly I'm not very confident in WG delivering in that regard as it stands right now, so ultimately my answer is I'd love it to, but don't think it would be a good change to the current state of the game as I see it.

    getting negative account credits?

I suppose if you have too many bad games were you lose credits you can get into the negatives. The remedy would be to either get better so you don't lose credits due to bad games nearly as often and mix a couple mid or low tier games into your gaming session to earn easy credits on the side.

    On BBs and Citadels...

Typically you want to shoot for the casemate/upper hull (the section above the mainbelt and just below the deck/superstructure) or either the bow or aft ends of the ship. If you have very good penetration (upgraded Baltimore, Des Moines, Roon, Hindenburg, Zao and Moskva ... not sure about HIV) I'd go for either under the turrets where you can either citadel or if not at least most of the time get normal penetrations. If you are either very close (~5km) or have a perfect broadside with the mentioned strong AP ships, you can also go for the midships waterline on ships like the Yamato/Montana to citadel them with regularity as the citadel is a fair bit above the waterline (Montana due ot be changed and have its citadel lowered soon though). For your example, New Orleans doesn't have the super heavy AP shells yet so I'd go for upper hull and bow/aft end shots at ~10km. With a berfect broadside I'd go for under the turrets at ~5km but wouldn't expect many citadels. You can also try and find the armour penetration values for each ship you have at that tier bracket and compare it against armour plating thickness to see where you can penetrate.

    On BBs and Citadels...

That number was for tier VIII to X and thus including the lower AP dpm of non-tier X cruisers. And I think you're forgetting the Hindenburg. Admittedly, those nasty numbers only realistically occur somewhat consistently at close range fights, but if we were talking long range fights BBs are much, MUCH less likely to hit a devastating volley on a cruiser if the latter actively dodging whilst the lower but more consistent HE dpm plus fires will reap their toll and I only need to read the uniquitious "HE OP, nurf naow!" BBaby whines on the forum to know how inconsequential that might be. Simple matter of fact is: Your statement about BBs not caring about broadside is false. I agree on this game powercreeping and for the worse, but BBs aren't the be all end all as some people make them out to be. Balance and the current meta is a lot more complex than just BBs being incredibly powerful. The number of BBs compared to cruisers, the number of DDs that will keep cruisers spotted, etc. pp. all come together to paint that picture and singlemindedly trying to adress just one facet of that system will not yield satisfactory results but jsut snowball in other potentionally unwanted directions.

    On BBs and Citadels...

You'd be surprised. And no, it's not just 20-30k in 30 seconds. That's the lower spectrum of the scale (again, assuming the cruiser captain knows when and how to use AP) and that dpm can go much higher (give broadside to a Minotaur and see how fast 90k HP goes down to nothing). And it's not that hard timing your turns to bring all guns to bear in between a BBs reload phase before turning to dodge again. But ambush tactics, pincering, overpen gambles and all that aside, my point was that your statement of BBs showing broadside to cruisers and alike being of no consequence is false. And 1vs1 comparisions of a BB vs a cruiser aren't the most viable groundwork for discussing game balance since BBs are supposed to counter cruisers and cruisers aren't supposed to fight BBs squarely in a fair 1vs1. And therein lies the primary issue cruisers face at the moment. Current typical MM is 5 BBs, 3 CA/CLs and the rest DDs with occasionally a CV. Of course cruisers are going to have issues if their hardcounter outnumbers them.

    On BBs and Citadels...

Incorrect. The consequences are just not as instantanous. I wouldn't advise any BB to show broadside to a cruiser (or a good number of DDs) if they like their HP. That's 10k damage every 10-15 seconds vs cruisers or 2-4k every 3-5 seconds vs gunboat DDs. Extrapolated to the typical 30 seconds BB reload, we're talking 20-45k a cruiser or gunboat DD can dish out in one BB reload cycle if they have a nice broadside to unload their dpm into. And hightier cruisers can actually citadel BBs (only the German BBs and the Amagi at very close ranges are more or less immune to citadels) which would only increase their AP dpm considerably. Give a Hindenburg or Moskva a broadside @ ~10k in a Montana or Yamato and you can consider not dying a good trade.
  17. Lol what the hell, zero shells fired in a Fletcher? How did that come about?
  18. Aotearas

Why play in tier X? ...

Even without premium you should still break even with a halfway solid game and make a nice profit with a good one. If you're consistently losing credits in ships like the Yamato, then you're simply consistently performing subpar.
  19. Weekend, urgh. Still managed to get a couple good games when my team wasn't acting like stoned sloths, including what I think is my highest base XP game to date: Standard fare, get in B cap, murder everything near B cap, then cap C after everything else is dead abd farm a bit more damage on the CV in the process. 3,1k base XP and a metric crapton of credits I'm surprised I didn't get reported in that game, though I suppose not getting a single compliment balances that out And there was this tough cookie in my Khabarovsk: An intensely tough match that wasn't clearly decided until the very last moment as the enemy team was ferociously clinging to their chances of pulling even. Very fun to have had a proper challenge!
  20. Our division ran into OttoZander in his Khabarovsk. Sadly most of our team was adamant at defending A to the last ship despite us already having captured it from the very start so they pretty much useless for the majority of the game and eventually pincered. Bet eh, weekend, can't help it. Also ran into a lot of Snubs today

    Torpedo glitch

Had you been sunk at that point and spectating? If yes, I'd put it up to spectator lag/desync. I've seen sooooo many torpedoes pass right under ships whilst spectating ... If you were still actively playing, that would be odd though. I've never seen something like that unless the connection was lagging like hell (a.k.a the servers crapping themselves a new one) and at that point torpedoes phasing through islands is typically a minor concern.

    Torpedo Hack

Firstly, any enemy airplane can spot your torpedoes, so if any Cv or catapult airplanes were in the path of those torpedoes, it will spot them. Secondly, the ship may have simply changed course out of any other reason, such as dodging shells from someone else, wanting to go somewhere else or in case of competent players just randomly changing course every once in a while to throw of torpedo predictions when they are detected. Thirdly, the server authoritative nature of the game makes that sort of cheat impossible. The game client of said enemy will have zero informations about incoming torpedoes until the server checked out they were spotted, at which point the client will be fed the necessary informations. As long as the server doesn't decide the torpedoes are spotted, no local player has the information they'd require to show incoming torpedoes. No memory hack or some such can work without informations it doesn't have! In short: that sort of cheat is functionally impossible in this game. I suggest spreading the torpedo salvo ahead and behind the prediction line to compensate for non-radical course changes and observe your targets and their situation carefully. A ship under fire is quite likely to change courses to dodge shells (and if he wouldn't, some BB would probably delete it before your torpedoes arrive anyway), so that's not an optimal target unless his options to manouver are already limited. A ship not under fire is much more likely not to do extreme course changes and easier to hit. Another tip: Ships with the Priority Alert captain skill will be seeing how many ships are aiming at them with their mainbatteries. That doesn't include torpedo launchers though. So if an attentive captain is seeing he's detected and a ship is aiming at it, but no one is firing at it (because the DD doesn't want to get spotted), then no ship is aiming at him (whilst still being detected!), then a ship aiming at him again can tell that someone likely fired torpedoes and can change course to evade easily.

HE Ammo is OP as HELL

Oh boy, good to know that me and others trying to actually help (despite the distinct look of OP not looking for help) is unconstructive crap, overused memes and overall just toxic. Have you read the topic or did you just read the first two-three responses and proceeded to make a sweeping generalization and insult the entire community because you couldn't be arsed to actually scroll down a couple more times? And you have the gall to complain about toxic communities? The irony is so thick you need industrial grade tools to cut through that one!

HE Ammo is OP as HELL

Right then, I play a good chunk of BBs. Go check up my stats if you like. That forming the basis of my argument: You're not aiming correctly and that is the single most influential thing that ends in your low damage results. Gunnery in WoWs is subject to some RNG, but it's not nearly as bad as you make it out. If you can't hit a target consistently, you're not aiming right, period. You won't like to hear this, but this is a clear-cut learn to play issue. Everyone started somewhere so there's no shame in not being an instant expert, just practice (preferably in the lower tiers where more competent enemies won't put you down too fast) and try to learn and improve. Just don't come here complaining about stuff you frankly know very little about because you're not getting the results you'd like to. Everyone who got good at the game earned that by learning, not by complaining. Check out some Youtubers like iChaseGaming (he's got a lot of newbie friendly tutorials that cover the essential gameplay mechanics and basic skillset you need) and Flamu (a very, very good player with a plethora of commentaries that show how to play certain ships, including captain builds, etc. pp.). Trust me, it really helps to just sit down for a couple videos and then try to emulate that ingame. For basic skills (aiming and evading) the effect is instantanous and for advanced skills (target priorization and positioning) it helps immensely to know what spots to typically go for in what ship and which spots to avoid. My biggest advice though would be to dial back the attitude considerably and just accept that you're still new and inexperienced. Once that mindset settles in, you'll find it's a lot easier to get answers and tips by asking about specific stuff or advice in general. Just (wrongly) complaining will simply (and rightfully, though not helpful) net you "l2p" responses in most cases.
