Yeah, it's really weird. Some of my mates got the coupon, others didn't and no one has a clue what the criteria was (despite the Email saying it was for participating in the CotE event, but all my mates participated ...).
  4. With on average 5 BBs per side, I won't be anywhere near them unless I have solid cover to hide behind. And since DDs will spot you all the time, there's also no benefit to trying to get a bit closer because you just make it an easier shot for enemy BBs when you can hit them just as easily from maxrange in a cruiser. Cause and effect.

Sinking a DD without any shell hits?!

Detonation. If a HE shells lands close enough for the splash damage to hit and damage a magazine module, it can trigger a detonation despite not officially counting as a hit as the shell itself missed and only the splash damage connected. Blew up a Lo Yang that way once, also showed zero hits and I still clearly remember he detonated. 'Fun and engaging game mechanic' ...

YOU don't get to tell anyone to stay strong. You bought the Scharnhorst. Only 5 days of premium time? Stingy bastard. Those WG devs have wifes and children to feed. How can you be so heartless!

If the game decides to screw over a player with random OHKs, can we at least make it a BIG boom that's aesthetically impressive with a giant burst flame, smoke plume and explosive shockwave racing over the water surface? The smoke plume in particular might just stay for the remainder of the match slowly spreading as a poignant reminder of my or anothers untimely demise. I'd at the very least like to look fabulous if RNG gives me the stinking finger, thank you very much!

Definately intended. Can't make too much profit milking the most expensive Hood bundle if people could save 30% off it. The question for me is now, will I stock up on doubloons, maybe get the Ultimate Treat for doubloons and premium time, or screw it and get the Duca Admirals bundle for doubloons, the ship and lotsa signal flags as sidedish ... 30% is a serious discount and I don't have any entertainment expenses to strain my alloted budget anyway so it wouldn't hurt my wallet at all. On the other hand, I don't really want to reward WG with money for given the trend I'm seeing so far ... but the temptation is actually strong. I suppose if MM wasn't as screwed up for tier VI as it is, I'd actually jump at the Duca, but right now I've got a hearty ~24 hours to think.
  12. Since the game is still crashing multiple times per day ... yeah, that. Though today I got lucky, only two crashes

    Detonations

Precisely. Acceptance of a status quo or what can be described as normal also dictates how people react to things. In regard to the gif/video of the Barham detonating (and seeing people who no doubt died in the process) is on one hand tragic. But people dying is a normal state of affairs, especially in wars. I can see that gif and feel no emotional response. I can clearly see it and I know on an abstract level that I am watching a lot of people dying, but that's normal. To contrast that, when I was younger I had a lot more emotional responses when I heard news about people dying, because naturally in the eyes of a child, dying is bad, tragic and shouldn't be. But as I grew up and was confronted with death on a daily basis in news, it progressively lost its shock effect and nowadays it barely registers on a purely perceptive level. As for feeling uncomfortable or not seeing stuff like this I have two things to say: Firstly, that was a hyperbole and shouldn't be taken literally. Secondly, not feeling uncomfortable and feeling comfortable aren't the same thing in my opinion. You can feel discomfort, you can feel comfort, or you can be indifferent. Not actively liking something doesn't necessarily mean you actively dislike it, you just don't feel any more positive about it as opposed to normal. It's semantics, but since this little discussion lived up due to my words being understood differently than they were meant to I'd rather clear that up. However according to the current research consensus this is very much how the whole thing physically works. Stronger emotional links of personal experiences trigger more intense empathic reactions with familiar stimuli as opposed to unfamiliar stimuli. That kind of stuff can be measured and though the neuroscience is far from understanding the mechanics of the mind, what we do know is quite firmly pointing in that direction. That may not sit comfortable with your sense of morals (and good on you for that!), but that is how the brain biologically operates as far as we can tell.

    Detonations

... emotional responses aren't binary. As hgbn_dk agreed with, it is a LOT more complicated than black and white. Personal experiences, physical shape of body and psychological state of mind at the time, cultural/social understandings of the subject compared to anothers, emotional investment and many more factors shape a person's ability to empathize with someone/something or feel varying degrees of sympathy as a result thereof. Furthermore, if we're talking about the specific example of people dying ... empathy means a person's ability to share another's perspective. In this case that would mean viewing yourself dying. That concept is so alien that the abstract knowledge of what it means to die hardly registers on an emotional level because your typical healthy person simply has absolutely zero reference points. Someone who nearly drowned will be able to empathize to some degree the fright of someone when they see someone drowning, but another person without such an experience is physically incapable of putting themselves into that kind of state of mind. Also take note that empathy doesn't equal sympathy.

    Warspite saved!

I'd say not introducing a ludicrous powercreep and continually raising the customers' expectatio bars goes a long way. Warspite was pretty powerful back when she was the only 381mm caliber BB at its tier and that combined with its accuracy and the ship's amazing manouverability balanced out the superiour punch she had over her peers. Also the MM was different and the Warspite didn't see tier VIII games with such regularity back when her battle tier still included tier IV ships, making for a more even average battle tiering.

    Your opinion on this video

Nothing unusual. CV still had enough space to drop his torpedoes in the water between the island and you to arm his torpedoes. What you could've tried is getting closer to the island, which would force him to drop from the other side (or have his torpedoes either harmlessly drop on the island or dud on your hull before arming), at which point your smoke would've concealed you, though he could've still blind dropped in the smoke from the other side. There's typically little you can do if a Taihou/Hakuryuu finds you isolated and wants your balls so you had no real good options there, but what actually happened is perfectly fair game in regards to game mechanics. Khabarovks can outrun airdropped torps though, so your best chance would've been to try and dodge broadside drops and outrun those trying to box you into a straight path. If the CV is good that won't work all the time, but it's saver than trying to hide in smoke, Khaba isn't exactly a small target.

Why does this game not have kill assists

Any damage you do is rewarded. Afaik the actual frag is only worth 15% of the victims potential XP/Credit reward, so anyone who sinks a ship on a sliver of health gets little reward for it and those who did the actual damage to it will get the full XP and credits for the damage they did. I would say though that smoking up allies should be rewarded with XP and credits too. Smoking up good damage dealers is extremely valuable teamwork as they can work their dpm much more unimpeded when unspotted, so players who selflessly smoke up others should be rewarded a percentage of allied ships' damage (assisted damage, roughly the same principle as damage upon your spotting). And any allied ship exploiting a friendly smoke even if not laid for them specifically still gets the benefit from it, so the bonus can just apply to any smoked up ally without any need for working out a way to differentiate between purposefully smoking up allies or not).

  23. Met MoveZig today. Sadly the team was a bunch of lemmings and the few ships that didn't hop onto that train died trying to defend the cap, but couldn't stem the tide. I moved to defend the cap but the cap counter was slow, so only one ship in there ... then I got greedy (at that point still trying to get the fourth stage of the weekly mission done) and made an illadvised detour to drop torps on a deliciously straightlining New Mexico, but in the meantime it seems two other enemy ships had entered our base cap and I couldn't make it back in time to block and reset ... my mistake, could've helped there but I miscalculated hard. Also met a WG guy ([WH-EU]Lumberjack something) ingame. Of course I couldn't resist to pop a little jape about the BB overpopulation when I saw him sail a Yamato That match ended up me alone in my Khaba trying to dance with a Tirpitz, Des Moines and another DD (not sure if it was the Shima or the Gearing ...) to somehow outfight all three of them after our team ground themselves to dust playing ring around the rosey on Tears of the Desert epicenter and I was effectively the only worthwhile *cough*DD*cough* since our team's other three DDs died unceremoniously with less base XP among all three of them than me alone.
  24. Neat. This is where the fun with the RN CLs starts. Meanwhile a bit higher up at tier IX: Match included a mighty buttclenching moment when I squeezed my Neptune in between a torpedo spread fired from less than 2km away (poor Fletcher panicked and dropped a wide spread that my Neptune just fit in between). Reaper said he recorded that including the TS reaction And with this game I completed the weekly mission: Dreadnoubhorovsk is best -ovsk
