I didn't say he was stupid because I disagree with him. I said he's stupid because he's literally not understanding my reasoning, yet's keeps regurgitating the same nonsensical point (it's rare, so it doesn't count) regardless of what I'm trying to argument. I explain him why the skill is broken? Well, it's okay because it's so rare. I tell him that something being rare doesn't make it any less broken? Well it's okay because it's so rare. I tell him that balancing a game is more complex than just make something for the average joe and that a couple people can make a skill balanced for the average joe perform little miracles? Well, it's okay because it's so rare. This fellow has exactly one argument, which is a pretty weak one, and makes ZERO effort in discussing it. But hey, cheaters in games are rare so I guess that's okay too. That's how stupid his argument is, that is the exact same logic he tries to apply here!

Rollover meta - WG can this be fixed please?

Wargaming can't buff stupid. Then again I'm not sure if Wargaming were the correct one to handle it if they could ... There's always going to be roflstomps when one team is just a cavalcade of bad players and/or poor decisions (a bit of RNG can also go a long way). Only thing you can do is process what you just witnessed, laugh it up (or suck it up if you were on the recieving end), then queue for the next match and hope there's more of a fight to be had.
  3. Part #2: Not much damage, but damn that was a tough fight and I only survived that battle by the skin of my teeth ... I literally would've sunk by flooding in a handful of seconds had I not rushed the offending Mogami and finished it off to have our team win by reaching 1000 victory points. Also still pretty neat base XP for a New Orleans as a bottom tier ship And since I'm also retraining my RN CL captain for the Minotaur: Kinda messed up a chance for a Kraken and Double Strike. Had I stuck to AP I might've killed the Fusou and the next volley (then with HE) would've taking out the Leningrad within the required timeframe for the Double Strike ... hindsight make me haf a sad.
  4. Had a couple neat games today, so I probably have to split my list due to image limits, first off: Had this game in my lovely Sims as I was still retraining my Gearing captain. I love my Sims, she's so much fun to play even with the anemic torpedoes (wouldn't mind her getting the Mahan torps though, or at least punchy low range ones ...). 3.1k base XP (well, it's the Sims) and ~550k Credits for the bank Then having finally retrained my captain for the Gearing, I took her out for my first couple spins: Very nice ship. Very nice indeed. Not too noteworthy a result in base XP or some such, but a very endearing first impression. And then the second impression: I like those torps. The range can be surprisingly useful at times, such as hitting mapburder humpin scaredycats even though a Mogami is prowling ahead among the islands and forcing you to keep a fair distance if you don't want to catch a suprise 15x155mm HE volley to the face. Gearing me likey

You're either not even trying to understand my argument (and no, I'm not saying to agree, you're failing to even grasp the meaning of what I'm saying) ... or you're just plain too stupid to. I'm done, I can literally have more intelligent discussions with a brick wall, at least that one won't be talking gibberish.

Balance is balance. And the skill's impact on balance is absolute, because guess what, the skill is in the game, ergo it's sharing the same ecosystem as everything else. Ergo we're talking about the same thing. Whether the majority of players can't find their own behind in the dark without a flashlight and written instructions or not has nothing to do with it. The skill is broken and everyone has the same opportunity to exploit it. You're precious rambling about impact=/=balance is utterly irrelevant. Most people aren't murderers, so should we just tolerate murderers because they aren't so many of them? "Yo Mike, that guy just shot that kid dead." ... "Eh, that was a one in a million incident, don't think to much about it, Fred." Do you get how stupid that logic of yours is? Or how ludicrous do I have to make examplary hyperbole until it finally clicks with you?
  7. I don't even want to imagine the number of admirals that went complete apesh*t and demanded the USN to nerf their cruisers ... Plus I bet the DD captain was calling hax. I mean, the New Orleans even suffered a detonation and didn't sink. How is that even possible!?

I'm not talking about basic calculators in elementary school. I'm talking programmable, scientific calculators in the final years before graduation. Get that into your thick skull already! Or maybe you haven't reached that far yet and wouldn't know the difference given what I'm reading from you here ... And no, the games aren't simply based around what the majority can or can't do. Designing competitive games is a complicated balance act between making the content accessible for low skill players aswell as making sure the content doesn't turn too powerful in the hands of high skill players. Point is (once again, in the most simple, concise wording to make sure it's easy to grasp): Just because only a minority of players can exploit a skill to its full potential, doesn't mean it's balanced by the majority of players that can't! That'd be as retarded as to say the Imperator Nikolai I. is balanced because you don't see many ingame ...

You could if you actually made a logical argument rather than moving from one logical fallacy to the next. What the hell are you on about with that utter nonsense? Programmable calculators are banned from exams because students with simple understanding on how to program math equations with interchangable variables can systematically cheat. And just because most students can't do that properly doesn't mean that those who can aren't able to exploit that were they allowed to use programmable calculators, hence why they are banned by default for everyone! The very same basic concept applies to WoWs: Just because the majority of the playerbase isn't smart enough to know that you shouldn't show broadside, use WASD every once in a while or never look at the minimap, doesn't mean that those players that actually can do that stuff won't be able to exploit the extra informations supplied by the 'Radio Location' skill. If we'd design the entire game around what the majority of players does, why do we still have CVs, DDs and cruiser when every average Joe just wants to make battleship guns go boom? That is because you don't just balance the game around the lowest common denominator but take other vectors into account, including how the top percentile of players can perform in certain ships/with certain captain perks. And guess what, I have seen a whole lot of top percentile players make very convincing arguments, backed with firsthand experience and very detailed and well reasoned gameplay examples as to how that skill is broken and to what extent. If you want to do the three monkeys and close your eyes, plug your ears and just ignore the feedback you're given, then I suggest you complete the set and shut that mouth aswell. That or you can start having a meaningful discussion, accept that not everyone shares your bias and weight arguments and opinions based on their reasoning rather than whatever arbitrary definition of "gamebreaking" you might have. And if you're incapable of doing that, or simply not capable of properly communicating it then at least have the basic decency of not trying to be a smug arse if you can't even manage a single sentence chockfull of grammatical, spelling and interpunctuation mistakes, for your own credibilities' sake!

What kind of logic is this supposed to be? Player group X can't use Y, hence why we get result Z ... just because a potato can't make full use of the skill, doesn't mean it's not conceptionally broken. Plenty pupils back in school couldn't properly use an advanced, programmable calculator if their life depended on it, but they were still banned from exams because the couple pupils who could would just ace the test with hardly any effort were they allows to use it.
  11. Suppose you could make it a loadout choice between pure fighters or those equipped with those rockets, in which case the US air superiourity loadout might become less one trick ponies but instead reliable damage dealers, with the caveat that they don't achieve that by smashing alpha strikes but instead by baiting damage control and setting a lot fires, whilst maintaining a fighter presence (though probably needing to cycle fighters for refills to reload the rockets). This could turn US CVs from their current form (either amazing strike power but with little or even no fighters at all / or plenty fighters but very little striking power) into a more balanced state where you have one loadout that eschews massive alpha strikes for DoT stacks to keep their fighters, or sacrifices fighters for massive damage (the latter of which I still think isn't worth it, you run into a competent IJN balanced CV and he can zone you out very effectively if you have no fighters). Could also be the new flavour for say a potentionally upcoming RN CV line.

    Citadels on CLs are ridiculous

That's the problem with BB RNG. With each shot you have a chance to either multicitadel your target for an instant KO (or crippling damage vs other BBs), have every single shell bracket the target for zero hits and everything in between. It's as frustrating to miss every shell on a perfect target as a BB as it is to get citadeled by a single stray shell straight through your arse in a cruiser after dodging the rest of the salvo with said stray shell only hitting because it actually wasn't anywhere near the aiming point and just fell into the path of the dodging cruiser, then overmatched the armour and *poof* a third of your HP gone for good. Actually reducing the RNG, i.e.: making BBs more accurate would be a buff for both sides. BBs can more reliably punish bad play and cruisers can more reliable dodge because if they actual turn away from where the enemy BB aims for, those shells will miss because they don't just randomly carpetbomb the entire immediate vicinity. That is assuming the BB overpopulation can get resolved. I dread a cruisers chances to dodge multiple accurate BBs shooting at them from different angles at the same time ...

Exactly how does that spaced armour work (bear in mind that I never played WoT so whilst I know that is a thing over there, I have no idea how it mechanically works)?

It's not the exact same information, correct. But the nature of of the information (being a prediction) is quintessentially the very same concept. The skill has the only objective bonus over reading the minimap in the way that it works on ships that have never been spotted, which should tell anyone how much BS this is, that kind of information shouldn't be given to anyone if someone is playing well enough to never get spotted (assuming the person intended to and isn't just random derping around the mapborders far away from the action humming the trollollol song).

Using the skill on my US and IJN DDs aswell as on my RN CLs. On US DDs, it allows me to actively hunt enemy DDs in the mid and final stages of the match. Plus blindfiring torps at likely enemy approach routes became a LOT more reliable. Even if you don't hit anything, you are much, MUCH more likely to zone someone out. In IJN DDs, It allows me to actively avoid enemy DDs by steering clear of the general area the skill is pointing at. Obviously doesn't work if the enemy DD is using that skill too and wants to engage me ... but quite frankly I don't play enough IJN DDs to really tell with confidence if that's a clear benefit from the skill over conventional prediction. With RN CLs, it allows me to always stay angled in towards the nearest DD and as such source of torpedo spreads into my smoke, which makes them easy to avoid without having to exit my smoke. Hydro is an invalualbe early warning, but still if you're caught broadside the best you can do is start gunning the engines and flee to avoid getting hit and that can have nasty consequences when you get spotted outside the smoke, not so if I can angle defensively against likely torps inside my smoke. Again, also useful in putting blind/zoning torps into enemy approaches when you're trying to hold a chokepoint (or cap). Is the skill the end of the world? No. Is it necessary to do well? No. Does it help to do well/better? Depending on the situation, yes. And scaling with actual prediction skills, the perk can actually turn out to be an immensely powerful tool in very specific situations. Does the game really need this skill? No. The skill offers little for players without actual prediction skills and albeit situationally incredibly powerful for players that have said prediction skills, there's other skills to have that offer far less situational benefits (though they don't peak quite as high in utility). But imho the biggest pet peeve I have with that skill is that it hands players a tool which quite frankly shouldn't even be necessary to just present them on a silver plate. Rather than be gifted such informations for the price of 4 captain skill points, players ought to simply learn how to use the minimap instead to get nearly the same benefit at zero cost. The game shouldn't just give players informations they didn't bother to learn by themselves. That is setting a bad example: "why try to improve and learn the game when I can just moan enough on the forum and get exactly what I want for no personal effort of actually learning how to play?" ... It's a crutch skill, except that experienced players can also use it to beat the bejeezus out of others. I'm all for increasing the skill gap, but this is simply reeking of an attempt to deflate the skillgap that just happened to turn into a double-edged sword. And where does that end? Will the upcoming new armament type be homing torpedoes or surface-to-surface ship missiles because aiming is a bit too hard? The 'Radio Location' skill offers nothing that can't quintessentially be learned by just looking at the bloody minimap and a bit of experience (and really, one doesn't need that much experience to get reasonably good at predicting). This doesn't deserve being a captain perk, it doesn't need to be a captain perk and imho it shouldn't be a captain perk. Maybe that's not because the captain perk is allegedly not so bad and more about WG not having cared the slightest bit about all the extensive counterarguments brought forth by the community (and I'm only counting objective and well reasoned arguments here, not the plethora of "wah wah, don't wanna" or "wah wah, quit whining or quit the game") and instead just went ahead without even remotely discussing the handful of identified baseline issues such as: Extremely different value depending on the match stage (useful at match start, less useful in the typical midstage quaffle, VERY useful in endgame stages with lots of isolated ships on the map) Potential for abusive modding/cheating depending on how the server distributes the information to the clients Discrepancy of value between random solo, random division and competitive gameplay (not so useful playing solo in randoms, because little temwork - quite useful in divisions with teamwork and possible to triangulate enemy positions very accurately if more than one person are pinging the same ship (which can be ascertained when communicating!) - must-pick perk for competitive since a player not using the skill is always on the backfoot against a player using it) If I see my feedback and genuine concerns about the game balance being brushed aside without meaningful discourse or even adressed to dispel past a token "it'll be fine" and being cited "server data" as counterargument and never shown any of that data and what exactly it says and how the skill won't be anything like I fear it might be ... I won't be bothering much to keep talking about it when I feel it's just wasted energy because the powers-that-be do their own thing!

I was just thinking that. With the German KM HE pen ratio of 1/4 instead of the usual 1/6, german 203mm HE will have a HE penetration value of 50.75 (which rounds up to 51mm, enabling it to damage 50mm armour like you said), which will defeat Khabarovsk's 50mm troll armour and the 50mm midships hull on the Moskva. It will also defeat the 50mm deck armour on the Yamato's fore end bow/aft, the entirety of the Kurfürst 50mm deck armour and the entirety of the Montana 38mm deck and hull armour (the latter of which other tier X cruisers can only achieve if specced with IFHE and only the HIV with its 240mm guns AND IFHE can defeat 50mm armour with HE). This would effectively turn the German cruisers into the premier HE cruisers since they would no longer be as limited from module damage saturation (they have more viable target surface on enemy ships, ergo more total module and hence ship HP to damage) and even with the below average German HE firechance, with their hits actually penetrating nearly all surfaces except the mainbelt (and the central midships deck plating on the Yamato at 57mm (which can be defeated if the captain is specced for IFHE btw), effective gives them higher fire chance as non-penetrating HE hits suffer a fire chance penalty (50% firechance reduction wasn't it?). So despite lower HE alpha and fire chance, with significantly more target surfaces to penetrate, the effective HE dpm and chance for fires would surpass other cruisers. As much as I think German cruisers need some loving, this might actually make them a wee bit overpowered ... plus the flavour for the Germans is supposed to be the strong AP, isn't it? If anything were to be buffed, I'd say give the German AP better penetration/bounce angles to make them more reliable as prime damage dealing ammunition. As much as I like setting BBabies on fire, I'm currently grinding towards the Zao for that and the Hindenburg would totally take that spot from the Zao in every aspect but stealth ... Also, anyone knows how Wargaming meant that the Hindenburg is going to be completely protected from large caliber HE explosion? Do they mean the module damage from HE splash? Or do they mean actually protected from all HE damage? If the latter, does that mean Hindenburg will recieve a significant armour buff all around or what!? Are there any details out already?

    Mikasa mission

Getting that much damage is hardly that hard, at least if you have a hightier ship. No, getting the 100k damage on RU ships is going to be the grindy part ... let's remember the ARP Nachi mission for a second.

  24. Welp, that snowball effect I was talking about earlier ... it's rolling! And I'm pretty sure the EU branch management will be exchanging a couple very Foch-like words with their NA counterparts after they had just barely managed to hold on what has to be one of the most prolific and influential community contributers (you don't get a personal call from someone that high up the hierarchy unless they want to keep you!), only for WG NA to butt in and royally f*ck up everything (including barefaced lies about alleged hate speech and homophobic slurs of all things ...) that's not even in their bloody field of responsibilities as none of those under discussion are NA CCs, especially since it's the EU branch that's losing their CCs and not NA (at least from what I'm seeing, correct me if I'm wrong). Screw the Hood, I'd pay money to see that management meeting
