To be fair, I've managed to get a supertester reported 11 times in a single match for playing the USS Black (we were in a division and he had mentioned he got reported just for testing the ship). Iirc he didn't say a single word in chat all game long. All you need to get a report bomb is a couple salty/gullible players in the game and you're set.

No, I rather not lose my turrets on my gunboat DDs ...
-
Anything that isn't BBs. For every line up until the moment that WG conceptionally solved the BB overpopulation and injecting more BBs into the game won't have the problem resurface again.
-
Only rework Shards needs is excluding it from tier IX battles. I love the map, but it's too small for tier IX.

The first mistake you're making is thinking that a CV not actively protecting you from the enemy CV is an act of war against your own team. CVs are only dangerous to isolated ships or those whose AA is too underpowered to blunt an attack from a devasting strike to something managable/avoidable. 11 tier VIII to tier X BBs stick close to another will form a concentrated AA bubble that is nothing short of suicide attack territory for any CV strike, even smaller groups of BBs can blunt a CV strike so effectively that the actual inflicted damage is minor. The second mistake you're making is thinking that it's your responsibility to punish the player and doing so by way of punishable action, i.e.: teamkilling. If you ever see someone attempting a CV truce (or any such shady handshake), you are within your rights as a player to report that to WG. You aren't within your rights to exact vigilante justice by teamkilling. Case of point, my original comment about suggesting a CV truce was a joke (mighty tempting though). I won't fault you for not catching that since I didn't make it obvious on purpose (to show exactly how annoyed I am about the BB heavy meta to suggest such things, believe me or not). What if someone would jokingly offer a truce to the enemy in chat without meaning it, but then gets TKed by someone who thought the offer was serious and he had the right to punish the offending player? Who actually threw the match to establish what principle? Do you know how often we jokingly order other clanmembers to sabotage their team when we run into a clanmate on the enemy team? Guess how often we actually genuinely mean that (hint: it's a natural number smaller than 1). Now guess how hard we actually prioritize sinking said clanmate because we know he's an actual threat compared to the average random bob. And to come back to your initial response, exactly how do you think has my original comment to do with WG not fixing CVs? Because they can be exploited? Hardly something unique about CVs ... Yamato players could just aswell call a truce with enemy Yamato players to not shoot one another and rather focus on overmatching everyone else. Is that why WG isn't fixing the BB overpopulation? Because I'm thinking you're not making sense and only continue doing so because my joke touched a nerve or two. I won't fault you for that, since I wasn't being obvious. And I'd happily continue argumenting with you about the economics of CVs actively protecting their team vs focusing entirely on damaging the enemy (though I'd have to include strike-only loadouts into this which might end up a mighty conceptual speedbump in any counterarguments you might bring to the table) but in any such case I'd rather prefer it if you had an actual argument to make rather than trying to wave your personal morals around.

I hog my Juliet Charlies for when clan activities are coming, plus however long I can stomach Ranked. Because since there's no reliable way to farm those signal flags (can't even get the signal flags for detonating a second time within 24hrs ...) I only use them wherever I absolutely can't afford to lose by random detonations. Normal random play is blergh to detonate and annoyingly frustrating to detonate twice in a single day, but apart from the salt and some XP and credits I don't lose anything. So until there's no reliably way to sustain me using those signal flags on ships as I play, nope, won't be wasting them on randoms.

Don't think I was ever subscribed to any of them. Maybe I was to iChase for a while but if so I very quickly unsubscribed a long time ago already because I don't remember. Never really got into Notser to begin with, saw a couple videos and his style just wasn't to my liking before I had the chance to scrutinize his content for errors. And yeah, I don't take anything from iChase without a grain of salt or two, but he had a review up and I took my chances ... seriously regretting that. It was painful to watch and I'm not even that good in CVs. So far I'll be sticking to Flamu for gameplay, a bit of Jingles to have fun with him misidentifying ships and stuff and atsf. iChase's Know Your Ship series is neat though, can recommend that one! Recently had a Shokaku video too. Anyone can recommend a good CV youtuber with informative content, tips and gameplay advice? Flamu's has a couple nice commentaries but I don't think he plays CVs that often considering the frequency (or lack thereof) of CV commentaries. A good CV main might do wonders in getting the little tricks and match stage priorities right without me having to trial and error everything.

Just saw iChase's Kaga review ... or well the first ten minutes at least, then I just couldn't watch that gameplay anymore AND hearing iChase talking about potato CVs after making an utter mess out of the initial fighter action and letting his aircraft fly over a Kutuzov and Bismarck after sniping the enemy CV. Seriously, not being an exceptional player is one thing, but making such bad moves and still having the gall to call the other player a potato is the bottom of the barrel there. Guess I will have to wait for another review to get an accurate representation of how the Kaga works ingame. The drop patterns on the TBs looks hard to actually land a majority on your torpedoes on targets that are actually making an effort to dodge though. Not sure if I would call that a unique feature or a stealth nerf to compensate for having six TBs per squadron rather than four ...

The thing is, you probably want to start another DD line rather than the IJN. They are lacking in versatility. The US DD line are very good hybrids and excellent support ships (particularily useful if you division up with friends!), otherwise I'd recommend the KM DD line: decent guns, decent concealment, the torps are few and not very punchy but reliable and with a short cooldown (full specced into torp reload you can get 68 seconds reload time on tier IX and X!) and the hydro makes them the best cap contestants. Crappy smoke though ... And the other line I can heartily recommend are the VMF (RU) DDs. Forget about being sneaky, just blaze about at ludicrous speed and keep those guns firing. With more or less pure gunboat DDs (only the hightier DDs get longrange torps) you lack the stealthy torpedo nuke aspect, but if you can aim even halfway straight you're going to rain constant damage that the BBs simply can't avoid (as opposed to torpedo spreads which can be dodged, especially now that easily half the BBs you see ingame have hydro ...). It's a bit riskier to play though since naturally you're being spotted the entire time. And the Khabarovsk is sooooooo worth it.

Are you familiar with game theory? I don't think so or else you might've paid a bit more attention to the rest of my post. What would be different to you if I would only target the enemy BBs? I'm still taking out threats to you and if you simply stick together with other BBs to share AA auras you wouldn't even need me for AA protection, ergo you lose nothing but gain a CV that's entirely devoted to defeated 11 out of 12 of the enemy. Compared to the usual stuff I see from CVs, that'd be a welcome change of pace actually. If the CVs were only to target the BBs rather than waste precious time and ressources airdueling (which I had already pointed out is the more economic AND win-oriented approach anyway ...), I'm working on your favour. Threatening with a TK (whereupon you actively lower your and the team's winning chances) as a counterargument is frankly just a stupid kneejerk reaction. It's not even a relevant point on what you said in the first place about WG not fixing CVs ... are you even trying to make a coherent argument? And all that aside, in the current MM meta with so many BBs around that they make an entire quarter of the game content (cruisers) so hard to play effectively, I bit of comeuppance in the form of being on the recieving end against one of their top predators (which given the retarded AA powercreep for BBs isn't even much of a case anymore, all those BBs would need to do is stick together and they'd be entirely save!) is simply karma.
-
I know. But quite frankly, if WG insists on catering to the BBs at every corner, getting such a chance for a bit of revenge is too good to be passed and directly caused by the BB overflow. I mean, what would a logical player think be the most beneficial outcome for himself? Airdueling with the other CV, or just farming damage the whole game? Considering aircraft kills still don't give that much XP, both CV players present have the choice between farming damage (and thus XP and credits), or fighting on another. One of the two choices is clearly more rewarding. Right, because when being presented with a turkey shoot MM where the optimal choice for both CV players is to farm damage rather than waste their precious 20 minutes and aircraft reserves airdueling is clearly something wrong with CVs and has nothing to do with MM population literally setting itself up to create that situation.

Ye know what? If I were one of those CVs, I'd go all chat and tell the enemy CV: "Let's make this a game. Fighters only allowed to use against catapult aircraft and spotting. First one to kill all opposing BBs wins. Let the harvest begin!"

Apart from detonating TWICE today ... Because apparently the bottom tier BB has to try and get the bloody capture point because everyone else including the allied DDs are too much of pussy to get stuck in. And naturally I also have to spot for all those backyard hiding muppets, because hey, Tirpitz has torpedoes, that makes it a DD right? So do your DD job and spot for our mighty Große Kurfürsten ... and whilst you're at it, could you also do all the tanking plz? Kthxdie. At least the Midway had my back and did his best to keep the skies clear around me. And if my Khabarovsk isn't getting detonated by the first volley that hits it, I can get games like this: Intense game. Right until we killed the last enemy ship to clutch the win we were always behind points. On 5k HP I had to tango with a full HP Des Moines (who thankfully blew his repair before tanking one of my torpedoes and suffering a nice long flooding ). Hard earned Dreadnought! -
Is a USN CA/CL split just brain spin and rumors? or real plans?
Aotearas replied to hgbn_dk's topic in General Discussion
Aye. Tier VI is the lowest at which I'd see a Pensacola remotely working and even then you'd have to roll back a couple buffs to her since her 10x203mm guns would outclass everything in her tier bracket (IJN tier VI Aoba only has 6x203mm for example). Or perhaps scrap the Pensacola entirely and replace it with a more fitting ship for tier VI if necessary. -
Wouldn't be so sure. I've seen games with multiple First Blood awards ... this is WG quality coding we're talking about. And the game in my Khabarovsk was a first win ... so yeah, I wasn't particularily happy with that one, especially since I got detonated by literally the first volley that hit me.

Just in case anyone wants to call BS on the likelyhood or is wondering if the "reward" is indeed locked to once per day.

So, ever since the last patch my minimap won't stay on the desired size, but reverts back to the default one. I have to manually resize the minimap at the start of every game. Tried to delete my preferences.xml to see if it changes anything, nope. Tried without any mods (only mod effecting minimaps is the minimap mod), but still the same. Asked around but apparently my mates don't have the same problem ... so what gives WG? Can I get one, just one patch that doesn't screw up my game please?

You know, I hear there's an entire genre of videogames where you can do what you want, when you want and how you want without ever inconveniencing other people. Something about singleplayer games or so if I recall it correctly. Might want to check that out ...

Torpedo walls, counter radar, focusing anything else nearby to deny spots or an aggressive push with a couple ships (even better if they have torps) mayhaps? As someone who has had a couple triple Belfast division games for shits'n'giggles I can tell you first hand they're not an instant win condition. Whilst they can indefinately share smokes, hydro and chain radars, doing so makes them inflexible so unless they can get into a commanding position on the map they can be circumvented in favour of easier targets/caps. And it only takes a bunch of stoopit allies or smart enemies to relativize the impact of a triple Belfast division. Is Belfast OP? Imho yes. Do they devastate games? Unless they're toptier and/or the only radar ships in the match, no, they don't devastate a game any more than another well coordinated division does with any other ship. Is it laming? Lolno, that's just an excuse for salty people that got a bloody nose trying to fight a coordinated division in a ship ill-suited for the task., Belfast or not.

The typical tier VIII cruiser in tier X MM underdog story: Typical everyday occurence in the BB heavy, cruiser deprived meta ... you get sucked up in hightier MM so the BBs have something to shoot at. Well, we shoot back ya sleazy tincans! I was a bit surprised though that the enemy Shimakaze apparently didn't get the memo that smoking up 4km away from a german cruiser isn't going to work. Or do so few players run HAS on their KM CAs!? And then there was my first ever game in the Minotaur: Heh, neat start. I like this ship but moreso than the better stealth, faster rate of fire and turret traverse, the single most remarkable thing about the Minotaur is the extreme firing angles. Damn son, the turret clearance on those two rear turrets is insane! Also, stronk division. 9 out of 11 kills between Morten and me -

The difference is those games are primarily singleplayer games or PvE. I mod the crap out of my Fallout games, I used the BASE mod for CIV, etc. pp.. Mods in PvP multiplayer games is a double-edged sword at the best of times and at the worst ... don't think I have to go on here. -
