Met SteDorff and Unintentional_submarine today. Didn't even get a chance to make my Khaba shine because the enemy team lemmingtrained to A cap (Okinawa map) so hard and then just died one after another ... -

I'm pretty sure that "coward BB" is all the nuance it needs to make absolutely certain which kind of BB players I'm talking about. And a 100% of those guys/gals are about as useful as a chastity belt on a hooker! But hey, maybe people like me who actually know how to use qualifiers are just that bad at getting understood by people who literally can't see that the "coward" part right in front of the "BB" is the operating word. So you heard it here. Don't listen to anything what I say, I'm just the president of the mimimi group and obviously don't know what I'm talking about or some such. -

What game are you playing where BBs actual sail forward? Or maybe I have to reword that question a bit: what game are you playing where BBs actually sail forward towards the objectives instead of up the mapborders to go sniping? If you want to know why cruisers prefer to shoot from behind cover, just start playing cruisers. Grind your Omaha a bit and see how it goes for you when you try to charge into the enemy team of which five are typically your hardcounter in the form of BBs. Rocks are love, rocks are life! And who says it has to be a rock in the boonies? There's plenty neat rocks to hide behind way ahead of the coward BBs that insist of using every single meter of their 23+km firing range all the time. You asked for help? All I saw was a BB player complaining about cruisers playing in a way that doesn't get them instantly killed and asking why people are playing so defensively ... completely oblivious to the fact that in a cruiser, a single BB volley can cripple or outright sink you. -
Calling it a day way too much cheating going on.

Just watched the youtube video again (seriously, that's comedy gold!) and just noticed that OMFG, the game version has to be early closed beta ... I'm seing tier III to V MM, Independence as a tier V CV and a Tatsuta (way before my time playing this game, I suppose it was later replaced by the Tenryuu, right?). It's almost a shame the links are going to get deleted The only thing I regret is that my Youtube recommendations are going to involve a lot of WoWs Hack or whatnot garbage because I forgot to open that link in a private window -

Kek, half of the supposed cheats on those linked websites (enjoy your ban btw) are just flashy neon-green boxes around targets that are spotted anyway (and since there's no other way for any cheat to know due to the server-authorative model of the game that's about as good as it gets). The only halfway useful tool they're actually offering is an aim-assist where you have to painstakingly define parameters like shell velocity, etc. pp. so they only ever work for one single ship at a time without needed recalibrating and the aim-assist can only work with a couple predefined hitzones which by their very nature are going to be less reliable than the actual ingame hitboxes. Actual comments from the cheaters even say that someone who wants to use that cheat actually has to know what he's doing to get any benefit from it And that youtube link is soo bad it's cringeworthy. This guy can't even shoot straight with his precious aim-assist, missing shots at broadside ships less than 3km away... all whilst yapping "see how good my aim is, it's amazing bruh" in the background. This has to be satire. There's no way people with half a working brain can genuinely fall for that crap 10/10 thread, best laugh I had today -
He, let's see what they break this time. Though to be fair, the new ultra sounds form the last patch are quite nice on some ships. WG still gets it right on some occasions.

Well, as long that distinction is made I'm okay with living and letting live.

It's not a monumental tech advancement though. The quintessential retrofits to aircraft carriers to allow jetcraft operations was to draw some metal cables over the deck and weld hooks to the jetcraft fuselages to catch on to those cables. And that technology is as old as aircraft carriers themselves, the same stuff (among other ideas) was briefly used in their dawn until they ironed out landing operations with prop-aircraft. Things like the angled flightdeck and steam catapult for assisted take-offs were to increase the efficiency of aircraft operations to make best use of what space they had on the flightdeck given the how aircraft got larger and larger. It's really not a technological leap. Everything needed already existed in proven form, they just had to put everything together. Much like the Sverdlov-class is an amalgation of proven designs that simply got put together when the Soviet Union finally had the time, money and motivation for it, which would bring me back to my original remark and why I'd still say that trying to argue on any other basis than strict game balance is hairsplitting semantics.

What many people don't seem to get is that whilst that 50mm armour plating means that nearly all up-to cruiser HE just shatters on it (exceptions now being the german 203mm and the HIV 240mm IF it has IFHE), that armour also means it's incredibly prone to catching full pens rather than overpens at anything that isn't auto-bounce angle (and the flat arse end of the ship means even if you try to angle at an autobounce, any AP shell hitting your aft can still pen the 19mm and then the 50mm behind it (that won't be at an autobounce angle! as I found out the hard way when a Roon smacked my Khabutt with AP and landed a 6k volley which would've been more, but I only had 6k HP left at that point). I don't fear Zaos or Moskvas shooting me with HE. A Gearing trying to sink me with HE? Pfft, hardly a threat. A Shimakaze pouncing on me with full HP trying to kill my 4k HP Khaba? Thx for free kill, mate. A Shimakaze pouncing on me at any HP level that's shooting AP? THAT's concerning, because that sucker can actually do some nasty damage in the time it takes me to angle out in the first place (and two Shima AP volleys as I possibly have to show broadside to kite away can do plenty damage!). In short, anything that has the sense to shoot AP at you is going to punch some nasty holes into that 50mm plating.

Erm, jet engines ARE technology developed and ultimately even fielded in the late stages of WW2. Me 262 for Germany, the Gloster Meteor for the UK and the P-80 for the US. And the Sverdlov-class may have been based on WW2 designs, but the actual implementation saw a much greater degree of sophistication than what would've been possible for the Soviet Union to field during WW2. Arguing the ship is based on WW2 designs is semantics and little more. Implementation and construction of technology is always centextual with the contemporary material and know-how situation. The US for example started fielding jet-powered aircraft in naval aviation as early as 1946. To compare, the first Sverdlov-class cruiser was laid down three years later in 1949. The only argument I'd accept here is that naval aviation didn't see jetpowered aircraft in operation during WW2 and that's why there's no jetpowered aircraft in the game anymore. But please spare nonsensical hairsplitting about what is WW2 technology and why ships constructed in the 50s don't count because they're still based on WW2 designs. WG's reasoning is simple game balancing and makes total sense in that regard. Historical continuity, not so much!

Meh ... On one hand this thing looks quite powerful due to the short cooldown. As long as you charges left, you're never going to be suffering a crippling DoT stack. On the other hand you're probably completely run out of charges during the endgame stage of a match. As with anything designed to be powerful but balanced by limited uses, this has plenty potential to be min-maxed to hell by competent players (which might make it OP) and ending in plenty "waaah, where's muh repair at?" rants from potatoes that never noticed the decreasing number next to the icon ... Ultimately an unnecessary change I'd say. Might be a testbed for changing the entire DCP mechanic however, just WG poking the water to see if the reception is cold, lukewarm or a blazing pot of boiling saltwater.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Aotearas replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Oh my the game didn't like me much today. Bottom tiered in all but three games (and one of those was as a tier X, so that doesn't count) and blue-balled at every corner ... So, despite almost singlehandedly deplaning that Lexington (who apparently didn't get the Atlanta memo ...) I didn't get a Clear Skies despite 52 aircraft kills (Lexington hangar is 72) because apparently the rest of the ships on the enemy team had another 53+ catapult aircraft to push my killcount below the 50% threshold. Also, the team was just the Grand Central Terminal of Disappointment. If it weren't for Flutter constantly smoking me up (who really should've gotten more rewards for his essential help), our right flank and base would've collapsed within minutes. 2nd in base XP by only a slight margin despite being on the losing team and a good lead on the 3rd place base XP ... And then there was this: Was the only one to have killed anything until ten minutes into the game when an enemy Emile Bertin graciously sacrificed himself to our König out of what I can only assume was pity. I could've maybe helped a bit more if the Kuma on our team hadn't decided to torpedo right behind me, towards the ship right in front of me and thus taking off half my health (still had the stock hull so a grand total of 21k HP max ...) with his bloody torps. -
It won't. Plenty enough people who still think reversing broadside on to half the enemy fleet is a viable tactic in tier X. edit:// Also: LAWL for the moderator removing my "cheese for the whine" part.
