How many 19 points captains do you have?

So far five. My IJN BB/Yamato captain, my KM BB captain (currently only for Tirpitz and Scharnhorst after I stopped grinding the KM BBs), my Minotaur captain, my Khabarovsk captain and my Gearing/Sims captain. Also three four 18 pointers that will reach 19 soon enough (US BBs plus US, MK and IJN CAs). I could easily boost them and a couple other high point captains to 19 pointers, but I want to keep my elite commander XP around to speed up captain retraining mostly.

Well, at this point all you can do is either adapt, learn and live with it if you wish to keep playing this game ... or you can look around for a different game you like better.

    Radar at Tier V?

Indianapolis, Atlanta and Belfast at tier VII have radar and can see tier V ships. But it sounds more like you got spotted by hydroacoustic search which every cruiser in your MM range gets.

Welp, I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt and just assume he can't articulate himself good enough in English, but the reasoning I see here is a bonafide textbook scrub (not the ironic kind). Wants to play by his own rules and everything that doesn't fit is unfair/cheating.

Slow HE in high tier USN CCs is excesive

Stock Baltimore is brutal. Tier per tier I'd say just as bad as the old stock Fusou. And imho it's downright cruel that you have to research the hull before the gun upgrade, because you really need the better guns to make the ship work. Once you get them though, oh boy ... o-ho-hoh BOY!!! Those superheavy AP shells take no prisoners and with the 10s reload you're finally able to put out some decent volume. Very much enjoying playing the Baltimore so far and the AP shells are so damn good that that's already enough for me to want to grind out the Des Moines.
  8. ^Heh, nice. Just been playing a bit CV to get the stage 4 of the weekly mission done (10k flooding and win). Naturally the first game (when toptier in a tier VI, woohoo), RNG hated me. Used on DB squadron to set fire on a König, he instantly repaired (yay), used the other DB on the New Mexico behind it, triple fire forcing him to repair even if he wasn't an instant DCPer (yayx2). Following TBs score multiple hits on both ships ... no flooding. In fact, not a single flooding in that entire game (even though I'm using both signal flags). Just urrgh ... Next game I was (as typical) bottom tier. Tier VI aircraft and 48 plane hangar against tier VIII AA, whoop-de-friggin-doo ... Damn that was a hard carry. In a tier VI CV with tier VIII MM if I might reiterate. Had the flooding damage part done rather soon on a completely isolated Bayern who went I don't know where to. In fact after I got the flooding sticking, he died so soon after I thought I didn't get the flooding damage done just yet. And with no more easy targets for my squishy planes ... oh boy, painzone here we come. Was a rather intense battle for the first half, but then my team just started dying and when they didn't plug the holes and instead rush off alone, they got focused and died even faster. Meanwhile I got their CV and was defending D cap with my bombers. Bit later, I was the only ship left, with exactly two DB left (one in each squadron ...) against an Edinburgh and a la Galissionaire, bit less than three minutes to go and the enemy controls two caps over one of ours, the Galissionaire is sure to be heading to cap the unclaimed D cap and the Edinburgh going for our home cap ... we won by timeout with a dozen or so meager points difference. 2405 base XP ... as a CV ... a bottom tier CV. Not bad I say.
  9. Heh, first game today, good start. Wanted more torpedo hits for the weekly mission stage 3. Ended up with a team going full lemmingtrain with four of the five enemy DDs coming up my side (guess which side our lemmingtrain didn't go). Nuked one DD with guesstimated torps. Put shots into a couple more before I had to disengage, then chased and torpedoes another DD as he went for our CV (couldn't take him in a gunfight because I was on 4k HP vs a mostly full health Nicholas ...) though sadly too late for our CV. The kited the Omaha and put a couple torps into him as it went. Remaining Kongou killed the last enemy DD but flooded to death and then it was me with four kills against a lonely, deplaned Zuiho with 4 minutes to go and I have RL on my captain ... such a fair fight If I made the typical IJN DD impression of not wanting to shoot my guns, I wanted more torp hits on the Zuiho so I held my fire for the first spread to see if it hits, but he did actually use his WASD (like the Omaha, so that's at least two decent players growing up!) so I had to use my guns aswell, though I did get two more torps in for the fifth kill, Kraken and victory. Not too special, but a nice start. Though we all know it will only go downwards from here ... Aaaaaand I just noticed I lost karma on that game. Weekends, they never change

Nvm, just checked and yup, HE shells stay the same. My bad, only very recently unlocked the Baltimore so I'm not quite up to speed on the details yet.

I called it that to distinguish it from the stock Baltimore shells, which have a faster muzzle velocity for AP and HE.

WG What's your problem with me?

ShinGetsu has a very good point though. It's more efficient to focus the weaker players (and more effective since they tend to get themselves into positions where it's easier to sink them) than trying to focus a good player who'll know what to do to stay alive. From simple damage economics, you'll do a lot more damage focusing weak players than good ones. And if you can kill his team, a good player alone is just as easy to kill once your entire team is shooting him.

    a little note

Don't forget the white knights on a mission to be offended for others' sake. Those guys complete the triumvirate of the weekend forum. And really, if a player with 2k or so games only bothers using the forum to start talking about how the game isn't realistic and how ships ought to be spotted much easier, then it comes to light that his most played class by far is BBs for which being stealthy is a countermechanic or notice the range limitations on the Hydroacoustic Search consumable, then acts surprised when it doesn't spot something outside it's range ... and then goes on to try and do the usual wallet-hostage method and demanding WG change the game so his precious BBs can see and kill other ships easier ... there's really only two things that can be said: Goodbye or git gud.

Sims is in the premium shop

I wouldn't say the Sims is particularily good. The guns are pretty nice with dpm roughly equal to a Mahan thanks to the faster RoF and the turret traverse is simply a thing of beauty. The torpedoes are anemic though. The short range ones can't stealthorp and have pretty low damage, but at least they're fast enough to hit stuff. The longrange torps can stealthtorp, but are so terribly slow your target practically has to straightline for a minute to actually hit them ... and the damage is even worse. What makes the Sims special is for one the amazing manouverability. This ship can turn on a dime and will do so in a splitsecond thanks to the extremely fast ruddershift. The second reason is it can equip the Defensive AA. Mahan can too, but it sacrifices a good deal of dpm due to a turret loss, whereas the faster RoF on the Sims as good as makes up the difference with good enough dpm on its four guns to rival a five gun Mahan whilst still having Defensive AA. Together with the excellent US smoke this ship is a very potent support ship. It won't do too well against full-fledged gunboat DDs like the Blyskawica or Leningrad, though it can still make it a good fight and sell itself dearly if you intend to. Plus it has pretty good concealment. But for me personally, the most important aspect is that this ship is simply fun to play. The whole package just comes together into straight-up fun. I also play the ship with the shortrange torps, so I have to play it aggressively if I want to use the torps, which at least for me means even more fun (because ACTION RAWRRR). Then again, I also like the Atlanta, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Slow HE in high tier USN CCs is excesive

The US superheavy shells do have floaty arcs, but once you get used to them it's not hard to hit stuff even at maximum range. If you try to shoot a DD that's actively evading you're going to have a tough time, but for everything else, they're adequate.

    Player quality

Not much the community can do. The folks on this website here are but a meager fraction of the total playerbase. Whatever knowledge, tips and tricks we ight accrue and share on here is only ever going to be seen by a minority. What WG can do however is implement proper tutorials, be more forthcoming with informations and not hide crucial gameplay mechanics from your everyday random player. Aside from that, WG really needs to improve the reward economy so that results make unmistakingly clear if something is working (good XP, lots of credits) or not AND present a reference point ("hey man, I got 500 base XP, that's better than my best CoOp game results") that makes it unmistakingly clear to every individual how they fared. I bet it would surprise quite the number of people exactly how many players you can motivate to improve if you simply give them a frowny face after a bad game and a smiley face after a good one. People like smiley faces more than frowny ones, but not everyone can easily understand that 500 base XP in a random game is in fact the equivalent of a frowny face when it would in fact be a smiley face in CoOp battles in the context of back when they first started playing.

Press T. Doesn't work with every ship though. And sometimes you need to press U or Y instead.

Im I the only one that goes

No, it randomly crashes in port. When I try to open up a past battle report, or when I want to switch captains, or if I press the escape key to open the menu, or trying to check the missions or campaigns, or selecting a container, or if I want to start a battle, or if I just left the match queue ... And it's always just the game freezing up, then crashing to desktop without an error message. Crashes during actual matches are still a rarity and they've not become any more frequent than as far back as I can remember. But in port, just clicking through various UI elements apparently crashes the game. I used to almost never crash before patch 0.6.1, then I crashed multiple times per gaming session (as often as roughly between every two games), then in the later iterations of the 0.6.5 build it toned down (still crashing multiple times, but not nearly as ludicrously often), with 0.6.6 I experienced maybe one CTD per gaming session at worst, but now with 0.6.6.1 the CTDs are back again with full force. All this time, neither my PC hardware has changed, nor did I change GPU drivers and aside from the necessary Windows updates, neither did my OS change. I regularily run antivirus checks and I keep my system lean (so not a gazillion tasks running in the background, it's typically just the game, TS3 and perhaps the webbrowser, plus the antivirus). I've tested my CPU, RAM and GPU for possible errors, I've physically cleaned my rig and individual components to make sure nothing is physically interfering somewhere, I've uninstalled the game, cleaned the registry, manually checked no left-over files lingered around, defragged my harddrive, did a fresh install, no mods and it kept crashing all the same. I have literally checked everything I could think of that might cause problems from my end. Short of simply buying a completely new PC, there's nothing more I can do.

    Steam support

Valve has own titles? Which ones would that be? Valve hasn't made an original game in a decade. The odd couple titles published under their name after 2007 have been third-party creations that Valve simply bought the rights to. And Valve may not be actively selling premium content in those titles, but they are actively fueling an on-the-sides economy with skins and the likes: just think of Counter Strike with rare skins having a value of several thousand bucks ... and not jut hypothetical, arbitrary values, people are actually forking real money over for that in excess of ten thousands of dollars.

Im I the only one that goes

It's the same issue I had with patch 0.6.1 and I checked my system extensively to see if anything on my end is being whacky. The problem had lessened considerably with 0.6.6, but the patch just today brought it back. Trust me when I say this isn't my end acting up. And no, just in case anyone wants to try to troubleshoot, I've went through all the steps a long ways prior already, some multiple times. This is a problem that can only be fixed from WG's side of things.

    Steam support

Only because they had the choice of either complying with the EU trade laws or stop making business in the EU. And even then Steam tried to pull some BS with their EULA before the EU knocked on their door again and essentially was like "you really want to keep that up?", so Steam finally budged and complied with the barest minimum of refund policy they could legally get away with. I have zero, absolutely no doubts whatsoever that Steam would drop any and all refunds the moment they thought they could get away with it. Let's be honest here, Steam is no better than WG. At least WG isn't trying to monetize mods and demand a 40% cut just for distributing it via their Workshops ... (and yes, I'm also looking at you Bethasda!).

The words "Steam" and "Support" should only ever be uttered in the same sentence when you're ridiculing Steam's notoriously bad support.

You haven't played a lot of operations, haven't you? Because you can only have a maximum of 4 cruisers ...
  25. What I don't get is how the difference in accuracy between manual drop and autodrops is just a measly 10%. Looks like WG is fully intending to just get rid of manual attacks alltogether.
